Résumé :

Steady-state, transient, as well as dynamic analyses of self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) are generally well-documented. However, in most of the documented studies, core losses have been neglected or inaccurately modeled. This paper is concerned with the accurate modeling of core losses in SEIG analysis. The core loss is presented as a function related to the level of saturation. This relation is determined experimentally and integrated into a nonlinear model of the SEIG. The nonlinear model is solved using a mathematical optimization scheme to obtain the performance parameters of the SEIG. A new set of curves describing accurate behavior of the SEIG parameters is produced and presented in this paper. The computed parameters of the model are validated experimentally, and the agreement attained demonstrates the functionality and accuracy of the proposed core-loss model.

Résumé :

The use of pumps working as turbines (PATs) is a sustainable technical measure that contributes to the improvement of energy efficiency in water systems. However, its performance analysis in off-grid recovery systems is a complex task that must consider both hydraulic (PAT) and electrical machines (typically a self-excited induction generator-SEIG). Aside from several kinds of research that analyze the PAT-SEIG behavior under steady-state constant hydraulic and electrical conditions, this research focuses on the analysis of PAT-SEIG transient regimes, by analyzing their variation when a sudden change occurs in the hydraulic or electrical components. Analytical models were developed to represent the operation of SEIG, PAT, and the PAT-SEIG coupled system. Hydraulic and electromechanical experimental tests validated these models. An excellent fit was obtained when analytical and experimental values were compared. With these models, the impact on the operation of the PAT-SEIG system was examined when sudden change occurred in the excitation capacitances, resistive loads, or recovered head. With a sudden increase of resistive load, the hydraulic power and SEIG stator current remain almost constant. However, there is an increase of SEIG reactive power, decreasing the PAT-SEIG efficiency. Also, with a sudden increase of SEIG capacitors or PAT hydraulic head, the SEIG stator current increases once and not again, while PAT-SEIG efficiency decreases, but the induction generator can be overloaded. The development of this research is key to the advancement of future models which can analyze the coupling of micro-hydropower solutions.

In wind energy generation, self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) are playing a vital role in isolated areas where the extension of the grid is not feasible. But the major problem with such generators are their inability to maintain the terminal voltage and frequency constant with the load. Many SEIG systems require the computation of peak voltage and frequency for the subsequent feeding to a voltage and frequency controller for processing. In this paper, a new technique for computing the peak voltage of a SEIG using the COordinate Rotation DIgital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm is proposed. The proposed peak voltage estimation scheme requires only one voltage sensor. The SEIG voltage and frequency is controlled using a generalized impedance controller. To validate the simulation results obtained from MATLAB/Simulink, an experiment is also carried out using a TMS320F2812 DSP processor.

Résumé :

Purpose This paper aims to apply grey wolf optimizer (GWO) algorithm for steady state analysis of self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) supplying isolated loads. Design/methodology/approach Taking the equivalent circuit of SEIG, the impedances representing the stator, rotor and the connected load are reduced to a single loop impedance in terms of the unknown frequency, magnetizing reactance and core loss resistance for the given rotor speed. This loop impedance is taken as the objective function and minimized using GWO to solve for the unknown parameters. By including the value of the desired voltage as a constraint, the formulated objective function is also extended for estimating the required excitation capacitance. Findings The experimental results obtained on a three phase 415 V, 3.5 kW SEIG and the corresponding predetermined performance characteristics agree closely, thereby validating the proposed GWO method. Moreover, a comparative study of GWO with genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization techniques reveals that GWO exhibits much quicker convergence of the objective function. Originality/value The important contributions of this paper are as follows: for the first time, GWO has been introduced for the SEIG performance predetermination and computation of the excitation capacitance for attaining the desired terminal voltage for the given load and speed; the predicted performance accuracy is improved by considering the variable core loss of the SEIG; and GWO does not require derivations of lengthy equations for calculating the SEIG performance.

Résumé :

The voltage generation process is a very crucial initial stage for the successful operation of the self-excited induction generator (SEIG). The availability of residual magnetism and the adequacy of excitation capacitor value are factors that determine the success of the voltage generation process on the SEIG. This paper analyzes the effect of the availability of residual magnetism on the rotor's magnetic core. With a simple approach, the terminal voltage on the SEIG can be solved through the intersection between the magnetization curve (Xm) and the excitation curve (Xce). The shape and equation of the magnetization curve will be affected by the availability of residual magnetism. The change in residual magnetism availability will cause a change in the intersection point between the magnetization curve (Xm) and the excitation curve (Xce), which will determine the value of voltage generated by the generator. In this study, Newton Rhapson's method with numerical iteration approach has been used to analyze the effect of changes in the availability of residual magnetism on the success of voltage generation on the SEIG. The analysis results have been shown that the availability of residual magnetism with residual voltage values below 1.04 Volt will cause the failure of the SEIG to generate the terminal voltage at its nominal value. Meanwhile, the availability of residual magnetism in SEIG with residual voltage values above 1.04 Volt, will succeed in generating terminal voltage at its nominal value. For SEIG used as the object of this study, the value of Eres = 1.04 Volt is a critical value of the availability of residual magnetism.

Résumé :

Purpose This paper aims to deal with a modified-based approach for the evaluation of the steady state performances of three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) feeding single-phase load. Design/methodology/approach Using the symmetrical components method, the proposed approach is based on a modified model of unbalanced three-phase SEIG, which is formulated similarly to the well-known model of balanced three-phase SEIG. Owing to this modified model, the determination of the SEIG operating point amounts to the resolution of two semi-decoupled nonlinear equations for two unknowns; the magnetizing reactance and the per-unit frequency. A simple resolution method based on an iterative two-step technique is used. The results obtained by the proposed approach are compared with those given by a conventional approach and are validated experimentally. Findings The proposed approach is as accurate as the conventional approach. Further, for the same accuracy degree, the proposed approach permits to speed up the resolution when compared to the conventional approach, as only few iterations are required for the convergence. The proposed approach was also successfully used for the steady state analysis of SEIG under generalized unbalanced loading conditions. Practical implications The determination of the operating point of the generator is based on a modified model of the generator and a simple iterative resolution method. The calculation technique can be implemented on low resource controller to provide online voltage control of the SEIG. Originality/value The paper contains two main originalities. The first one consists in a modified formulation of the SEIG model under unbalanced loading conditions. The modified formulation permits the use of the well-known model of balanced three-phase SEIG. Unlike previous ones reported in the literature, the proposed model does not require tedious algebraic manipulations. The second originality is the use of two-step technique to solve the equations, which permits to avoid laborious mathematical derivations and manipulating high-order polynomials.

Résumé :

Self-excited induction generators (SEIGs) are used in wind turbine system because of high reliability, rigidity, simple structure, and capability to work under severe badly operating conditions. This type of generator has a poor terminal voltage and frequency regulation during changing the connected loads due to the absence of constant excitation current. Therefore, it is essential to stabilize the generated voltage and frequency besides suppress the injected harmonic current components. In this work, the dynamic performance of SEIG with distribution static series compensator (DSSC) is analyzed. The DSSC based on neuro-fuzzy controlled (NFC) is applied to control both voltage and frequency to enhance the regulation of SEIG. The NFC is used to control the DSSC which leads to balance the requirement of the reactive and active power of stand-alone grid under load variation and attempts to obtain a constant terminal voltage. The model is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. The NFC structure designed to regulate and control the output voltage of the SEIG driven by a wind turbine to feed a consumer in remote and rural places. Furthermore, the power system parameters calculated depending on the d-q theory. Modeling results explained that the suggested controller is consistent and tough related to the conventional types.

Résumé :

In this paper, the harmonic distortion for Self-Excited Induction Generator (SEIG) and an isolated synchronous generator (ISG) under non-linear load during steady state conditions are analyzed. The voltage and current harmonics distortion for both generators are calculated using the transfer function method in frequency domain for SEIG and phasor diagram method for ISG. This analysis is done independently one by one component for all harmonic components appear. The analysis results for both generators are verified to the laboratory test results. For loading with the same non-linear load to both generators, the harmonics distortion on the stator windings of SEIG was smaller than compare ISG. In addition, the harmonic distortion effects on other loads connected to PCC point of SEIG was lower than the other loads connected to ISG.

Résumé :

The subject of this dissertation is the life and career of \(Nakano Seig\bar{o}\), a Japanese journalist and politician born in Fukuoka-city on the southwestern island of \(Ky\bar{u}sh\bar{u}\) in 1886. Initially a liberal and a democrat, Nakano became enamored with European-style fascist movements in the 1930s and tried to start a similar political mass movement in Japan. Advocating a hard-line \(vis-\grave{a}-vis\) America and England, Nakano supported Japan’s entry into WW2. As early as mid-1942, however, he understood that Japan could not win the war and demanded that the government sue for peace – a position that put him into direct opposition with Japan’s military. After being imprisoned briefly for his attempt to bring down the \(T\bar{o}j\bar{o}\) cabinet in the summer of 1943, Nakano committed ritual suicide in October of the same year. The dissertation focuses on Nakano’s enchantment with European fascist movements – Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy in particular - and his attempts to launch a similar movement in Japan. Nakano’s attraction to fascism was, in part, a reaction to the international economic and political trends following the Great Depression but also reflected his life-long admiration for charismatic political leaders. His fascist leanings were also the result of a complex political calculation that aimed to exploit the appearance of the masses on Japan’s political stage. The thesis argues that Nakano’s attempt to launch a popular mass movement modeled on the European fascist movements failed both because Nakano’s parties (first the \(Kokumin D\bar{o}mei\), 1931-6 and then the \(T\bar{o}h\bar{o}kai\), 1937 – 1943) lacked ideological cohesion as well as truly totalitarian scope and because Nakano refused to resort to political violence as a means to achieve his political ends.

The use of alternative sources of energy requires electromechanical conversion equipments that exhibit low installation, operating and maintenance costs. In such way, small energy resources that are not connect to the power system (PS) can be benefited by the use of squirrel-cage induction generators (IG) which show such characteristics. When operating in an isolated mode, the IG is called SEIG - Self Excited Induction Generator, and in this configuration its self excitation is promoted through the connection of appropriate capacitors to the terminals of the machine stator. The existence of self-excitation in the IG depends on the value of the capacitor connected to the stator, the mechanical velocity and the load. This work aims to study the conditions of existence of self-excitation in induction generators having in mind applications in isolated generators systems. Towards this goal, initially the conditions for the existence of self-excitation are stated in terms of appropriate parameters, units and quantities, so as to highlight its relations with the operative characteristics of the machine. It is considered that the induction generator is connected to a load that contains both reactive and active components, parameterized in terms of its rated power. The self-excitation capacitors are represented by its reactive power, called self-excitation reactive power (PRAE). Self-excitation existence regions are defined which explicitate conditions for the existence and maintenance of self-excitation over, a region of operating conditions (OR) of the generator. Through the analysis of the existence of the self-excitation over the OR and the parameterization of the PRAE and the load in terms or rated power, procedures for SEIG design are established. With these procedures, the design of the SEIG is defined by the maximum load power, the worse load power factor condition, and the minimum self-excitation speed of the generator. The process of self-excitation of the generator and the design procedures are analyzed with the aid of dynamic simulations of the SEIG complete model, including the non linear model of the magnetizing inductance representing the magnetic saturation. A laboratorial bench was developed to allow studies with asynchronous generation, in particular with the SEIG. The parameters of the generator were identified experimentally and used all along the work, especially in the dynamic simulations showed. The results were also compared with experimental data collected from self-excitation tests performed with the developed laboratory bench.
A utilização de fontes alternativas de energia requer equipamentos de conversão eletromecânica que apresentem baixos custos de implantação, operação e manutenção. Desta forma, pequenos recursos energéticos não ligados ao sistema elétrico de potência (SEP) podem ser beneficiados pelo emprego do gerador de indução (GI) com rotor em gaiola, que apresenta tais características. Quando operado de forma isolada, o GI é denominado de SEIG Self Excited Induction Generator, e nesta configuração sua autoexcitação é promovida através do acoplamento de capacitores apropriados aos terminais do estator da máquina. A existência da autoexcitação no GI depende do valor do capacitor conectado ao estator, da velocidade mecânica e da carga. Este trabalho tem por objetivo estudar as condições de existência da autoexcitação em geradores de indução visando sua aplicação em sistemas isolados de geração. Neste sentido, inicialmente as condições de existência de autoexcitação são colocadas em termos de parâmetros, unidades e grandezas apropriadas, a fim de explicitar as relações com as características operativas da máquina. Também é considerado que o gerador de indução é acoplado a uma carga que contém componentes tanto ativos quanto reativos parametrizados em termos de potência. Os capacitores de autoexcitação são representados por sua potência reativa denominada de potência reativa de autoexcitação (PRAE). São definidas regiões de existência de autoexcitação explicitando condições para a existência e a manutenção da autoexcitação em torno de regiões operativas (RO) do gerador. Através da análise da existência da autoexcitação em torno da RO e da representação da PRAE e da carga em termos de potência, são estabelecidos procedimentos de projeto do SEIG. Com estes procedimentos, o dimensionamento do SEIG fica em função da carga máxima a ser acionada, da pior condição de fator de potência da mesma e da velocidade mínima de autoexcitação do gerador. O processo de autoexcitação do gerador e os procedimentos de projeto são analisados com o auxílio de simulações dinâmicas do modelo completo do SEIG, incluindo o modelo não linear da indutância de magnetização representando a saturação magnética. Uma bancada laboratorial foi desenvolvida para possibilitar estudos com geração assíncrona, em particular com o SEIG. Os parâmetros do gerador foram levantados experimentalmente e utilizados em todo o trabalho, inclusive nas simulações dinâmicas apresentadas. Os resultados foram confrontados também com dados experimentais de testes de autoexcitação obtidos com a bancada desenvolvida.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo a investigaÃÃo da singularidade da escrita dos surdos, observando e analisando como a histÃria de vida de cada um influencia no portuguÃs escrito. Para a realizaÃÃo da pesquisa, foram analisados os textos escritos e reescritos da histÃria Chapeuzinho Vermelho, produzidos por seis alunos surdos, da 7Â. sÃrie, do Instituto Cearense de EducaÃÃo de Surdos, com o intuito de observar as caracterÃsticas individuais presentes nos textos de cada um dos sujeitos. AlÃm da coleta dos textos, que ocorreu, respectivamente, em maio e novembro de 2005, foram realizadas trÃs entrevistas, todas com o auxÃlio de um intÃrprete. A primeira, direcionada por meio de um questionÃrio, ocorreu em maio de 2005; e as duas Ãltimas, uma nÃo estruturada e outra semi-estruturada, ocorreram em novembro de 2005. As entrevistas tiveram como objetivo coletar dados sobre a histÃria de vida dos sujeitos, suas vivÃncias na escola e na famÃlia, suas opiniÃes sobre a importÃncia e o uso da lÃngua portuguesa e da LIBRAS etc. As informaÃÃes, obtidas nas entrevistas, foram comparadas com a anÃlise das caracterÃsticas dos textos dos sujeitos, procurando observar como a histÃria de cada um pode estar presente em seus discursos, posto que acreditamos ser o desempenho na escrita um reflexo de sua formaÃÃo discursiva. Para a realizaÃÃo desta pesquisa, foi assumida a concepÃÃo sÃcio-interacionista da linguagem, corroborando com Vygotsky e de Bakhtin. AlÃm de revisitar os preceitos destes cÃlebres autores, tambÃm apresento neste estudo um breve histÃrico da educaÃÃo dos surdos e algumas caracterÃsticas da LIBRAS, por compreender serem estes alguns dos fatores que influenciam a escrita dos surdos.
The objective of this paper is to investigate the singularity of deaf studentâs writing, observing and analyzing on how their life story influences on their written Portuguese. The research was based on the analysis of the texts that were written an rewritten about the fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood, written by six deaf students, of the 7th grade, that study at the Instituto Cearense de EducaÃÃo de Surdos (ICES), with the objective of observing the individual characteristics present in each texts of written by the six students. Besides the collection of the texts, in May and November 2005, there were carried out three interviews, all of them made with the help of an interpreter. The first interview was made through a questionnaire, in May 2005; the second one was structured, and the other was semi-structured, both were made in November 2005. The objective of the interviews sere to collect data on the life story of the six students subjects, and also on their experiences in the school and with their families, and their opinion on the importance of the use of Portuguese language and of LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language). The data collected in the interviews, was compared with the analysis of the characteristics of the studentâs text, trying to observe how their life story could be present in their writing, as we believed that the act of writing is a reflex of our discursive formation. This research, was carried out based on the social-interactive of the language, agree with the studies of Vygotsky and Bakhtin. Besides the review of great researchers Vygotsky and Bakhtin, I also present in this study a brief history deaf education and some characteristics of the LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language), as I agree these are some of the factors that influence the writing of the deaf.

ZusammenfassungEin Protokoll ist im amtlichen Gebrauch zuvorderst, seit jeher, ein zweifaches Instrument des Scheidens: der Selektion dessen, was geschah und des Trennens von dem, was nicht gewesen sein wird zum einen (›Mit-Schriften‹); der Entscheidung über die Gültigkeit dieser Schnitte und die daraus ableitbare Operationalisierung andererseits (›Vor-Schriften‹). Im Amt und seiner Verwaltung markieren Protokolle, als Ausweis und zugleich Medien einer Entscheidung (mithin: als Montagen), dass etwas wie dargestellt auch passiert sei bzw. zu passieren habe; derart sind administrative Protokolle an der Schwelle zu Rechtssicherheit, Funktionalität, Erwartbarkeit und Gesetzmäßigkeit aus ihrem Apparat heraus zu verstehen. Protokolle müssen ihrerseits vom Apparat protokolliert und zugewiesen werden, beide Begrifflichkeiten sind zwischen Handlungen und verhandelnden Akten (beides acta) platziert. Die Verwaltungs- bzw. Medientechnik des Protokollierens und die daran anschließende Entscheidung der Zulässigkeit des Dargestellten (das meint auch die internen Schnittstellen) verschaffen Verwaltung und Rechtsprechung eine Grundlage ihres Handelns.

ZusammenfassungDieser Beitrag geht der Frage nach, wie sich das außenpolitische Engagement Österreichs im Bereich der Umwelt- und Klimapolitik seit 1945 entwickelt hat. Er zeigt, dass Österreich seit 1970 vermehrt multilateralen Umweltübereinkommen beigetreten ist. Auch der Beitritt zur Europäischen Union (EU) prägte sein Verhalten im Bereich des internationalen Umwelt- und Klimaschutzes maßgeblich. Verhandelt Österreich im EU-Kontext Umweltübereinkommen, zählt es zu den ambitionierten Staaten. Konzentriert man sich jedoch auf die bloße Anzahl von Umweltverträgen, die Österreich ratifiziert hat, zeigt sich ein eher mittelmäßiges Abschneiden im Vergleich zu anderen europäischen Staaten.

ZusammenfassungDie Wohnkosten sind in den letzten Jahren stärker gestiegen als die Alterseinkommen. Die Wohnkostenbelastung müsste somit bei den älteren Haushalten gestiegen sein. Auf Basis des Sozio-oekonomischen Panels (1996–2018) gehen wir den Fragen nach, wie sich die relative Wohnkostenbelastung seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre bei älteren Menschen entwickelt hat, und für welche Gruppen älterer Haushalte die hohen Wohnkosten zu einer finanziellen Überbelastung führen können. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die relative Wohnkostenbelastung für ältere Menschen seit 1996 angestiegen ist, und zwar insbesondere für Mieterhaushalte. Zu den Gruppen, die durch Wohnkosten besonders überbelastet sind, gehören vor allem Mieterhaushalte und ältere Alleinlebende mit niedrigen Einkommen.

Mobilität ist eine wesentliche Voraussetzung, um an außerhäuslichen Aktivitäten teilzunehmen und somit am gesellschaftlichen Leben teilhaben zu können. Da das Nutzen von Verkehrsmitteln mit Kosten verbunden ist, kann dies insbesondere für Personen mit geringen Einkünften eine Mobilitätsbarriere darstellen und das Risiko erhöhen, von mobilitätsbezogener sozialer Exklusion betroffen zu sein. Eine besondere und tragende Rolle fällt dem öffentlichen Personennahverkehr zu (ÖPNV), auf den wir mit diesem methodischen Beitrag eingehen möchten: Zunächst tragen wir zusammen, wie finanzielle ÖPNV-Erschwinglichkeit quantifiziert werden kann, wobei wir auf Grundlage internationaler Fachliteratur zwei Ansätze (beobachtete und potenzielle Erschwinglichkeit) unterscheiden. Anschließend diskutieren wir mögliche Indikatoren für die ÖPNV-Erschwinglichkeit, die auf dem Einkommen privater Haushalte basieren. Darüber hinaus skizzieren wir einen GIS-basierten Indikator für den Nutzen des Deutschlandtickets, das seit Mai 2023 bundesweit im ÖPNV gilt.

Schon früh stand die Erforschung des Arbeitsmarktes und sein Versagen im Zentrum des Forschungsinteresses von Edmund Phelps. So kritisierte er bereits in den späten 1960er Jahren die damals weit verbreitete Ansicht keynesianisch ausgerichteter Ökonomen, dass die Zentralbank mittels Inflation Arbeitslosigkeit bekämpfen könne. Demgegenüber argumentierte Phelps (1967) und (1968), dass dieser auch als Phillips-Kurve bekannte Zusammenhang zwischen Inflation und Arbeitslosigkeit lediglich kurzfristig gelte. Ein dauerhafter Abbau dessen, was Phelps als „natürliche Arbeitslosenrate“ bezeichnet und vor allem die Beschäftigten im Niedriglohnsektor besonders stark betrifft, sei auf diesem Wege, d.h. unter Einsatz der herkömmlichen finanz- und geldpolitischen Instrumente, nicht möglich. Mit den nachfolgenden Überlegungen sollen sowohl die ökonomischen Rechtfertigungsargumente für entsprechende Lohnsubventionen als auch deren Wirkungsweise und sonstige Effekte – theoretisch wie empirisch – einer kritischen Betrachtung unterzogen werden. Zudem wird danach gefragt, durch welche Bestimmungsfaktoren erfolgreiche Arbeitsmarktreformen in verschiedenen Industrieländern in den zurückliegenden Jahren gekennzeichnet waren bzw. sind. Dabei soll gezeigt werden, dass zum einen die Phelps´schen Überlegungen als nicht hinreichend differenziert zu bewerten sind und daher einer Reihe von Ergänzungen bzw. Korrekturen bedürfen.

This document concerns the regulatory oversight and governance of high-hazard industrial activities. A complex set of laws, regulations and institutions contribute to the social control of these activities, reinforcing and serving as a complement to the risk prevention mechanisms put in place by operating companies. This document focuses in particular on the relationships between regulated firms, regulatory authorities and third party intermediaries who play a role in safety oversight (certification bodies, auditors, insurers, professional associations, etc.) and the impact of the quality of these relationships on industrial safety. The scope is the prevention of major accident hazards in different industry sectors (process industry, transport, energy), in France and at an international level. We focus our attention on different forms of “coregulation”, the act of enrolling the entities concerned by regulatory measures in their elaboration and the verification of their compliance, which is believed to improve their appropriation by private actors and thereby produce better oversight than classical command-and-control regulation. We analyze in particular the partial delegation of authority, internal risk control mechanisms and the use of third party intermediaries in the oversight process. This coproduction of regulation by public and private entities is increasingly used in different industry sectors, and leads to a more collaborative and interconnected regulatory process, based on a network of actors rather than a simple regulator-regulatee duopole.
