A sample of 172 faculty members was selected using an appropriate non-probability sampling technique. The researchers invited the entire study sample to participate in the self-awareness scale (SAS), developed using a translated Arabic version.

Personality type differences were noted in the different methods respondents chose to develop their self-awareness. Training to be a coach, professional help (e.g. coaching), feedback from peers and completing personality questionnaires were rated as the most effective methods of developing self-awareness.
