A new genus, Dichromatobolus gen. nov., belonging to the genus-rich mainly southern hemisphere family Pachybolidae of the order Spirobolida, is described based on D. elephantulus gen. et sp. nov., illustrated with color pictures, line drawings, and scanning electron micrographs. The species is recorded from the spiny bush of southwestern Madagascar. Dichromatobolus elephantulus gen. et sp. nov. shows an unusual color pattern, sexual dichromatism with males being red with black legs and females being grey. Males seem to be more surface active, as mainly males were collected with pitfall traps.

AbstractThe co-occurrence of similar species in a particular environment may be facilitated if they specialise on different microhabitats, reducing competition between them. In some cases, two species prefer the same microhabitat, but one is competitively excluded to its harsh margins. Résumé :
The modern era in diplopod taxonomy began in 1971 with publication of the Nomenclator Generum et Familiarum Diplopodorum. Along with the internet and electronic communications, this pioneering work catalyzed an increased output of synthetic publications beyond mere species descriptions, thereby leading to accelerating advancements. Significant taxonomic and/or cataloging studies have since occurred in 14 of the 16 established orders, all except Stemmiulida and Siphoniulida. Important faunistic works have appeared on Canada, Mexico, Asian Russia, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Turkey,

Three new species of the Rhigonematida (Nematoda) are described from the posterior intestine of Orthoporus americanus from Paraguay. Heth orthopori n.sp. resembles Heth hamatus Bowie, 1985 from Eumastigonus kaorinus from New Zealand in that striae posterior to the cervical collar of the females bear rows of tiny spines; it differs from this species in that all spines in the cervical collar are of approximately the same size. Rondonema nelsonae n.sp. is most similar to the type species Rondonema rondoni Artigas, 1926 from an unidentified Brazilian diplopod in that lateral spines in the cervical

This paper summarizes the distribution, provides a taxonomic bibliography from 1758 to 2002, and lists all available species, generic names, and synonymies of the family Rhinocricidae (Diplopoda: Spirobolida). At present, there are 528 nominal species and 23 subspecies of Rhinocricidae placed in 27 genera and 3 subgenera. One new combination is proposed: Rhinocricus obesus rubicundus is transferred to Anadenobolus [Anadenobolus obesus rubicundus (Brölemann, 1905)].
