the Jewish community of Velké Meziříčí has acquired urban and regional significance, which lasted until the middle of the 20th century. Dominant of the Jewish ghetto was a complex of three synagogues originating from different periods. To the present day, two synagogues, the Old Synagogue from 1695 and the New Synagogue built in pseudo-gothic style between 1868-1870 based on August Prokop´s design, have been preserved. The location of the three synagogues is a very unsettled urban whole, which is poorly accessible and creates the atmosphere of a special and inhospitable place. The centerpiece of the site is a new synagogue, which now serves as a Vietnamese marketplace. The aim of the diploma thesis was to restore the values of the cultural area of the three synagogues and to define the new functional use of the buildings in connection with the living urban structure with the insertion of new architectural forms.

Résumé :
The topic of this diploma thesis is creating an architectural study of new synagogue and center for Jewish community in Teplice. Main goal was to design a complex used not only for sacral purposes, but also for cultural and educational purposes. The intention itself was an attempt to transform the location, to highlight its specificity and to capture its Genius loci. The proposal is a set of four objects consisting of several completely different units, all intended to create possibilities for harmonious coexistence of the past and the future. The complex includes a new separate synagogue building with three utility floors, which is located on the southern side of the premises. Two other objects are a one-storey administration building and a cultural and educational center, both located in the middle of the area. The building on the northern side of the property houses the premises of a kosher restaurant, a museum and a parking lot. Its roof forms a large square and recreational zone. Due to the large altitude differences of the premises, predominant portion of the facility is designed under the ground.

Résumé :
The architectural study deals with the design of a new synagogue in Trutnov, on the site of the former burnt down synagogue from 1885. The synagogue from 1938 was set on fire by the Nazis during the so-called Crystal night from 9 to 10 November in 1938. Besides the synagogue, the proposal deals with the entire Jewish complex, namely a kosher restaurant with facilities, an administrative part for the Jewish community, a mikveh connected to a sauna. The task was to solve the location of buildings complicated area of ground, which is not easily accessible, and also to play with the idea of preserving the original location of the synagogue. The result is the design of a new community center. Its purpose is to return the existence of the Jewish population back to Trutnov, where the Jewish population has not existed for a long time. The design consists of two objects. One of them is a separate synagogue where prayers, celebrations and other events take place. An important part is also the kosher restaurant, which provides the specifics of catering, as well as a mikveh used for a cleansing ritual with a sauna relaxation area. The next function is the seat of the Jewish community.

Résumé :
The project creates a representative environment for the Jewish community in Teplice. The history of the location is a main source of inspiration, since there used to be a majestic synagogue until 1939 when it was burned down. The design itself consists of four buildings above ground – a synagogue, an administration center of the Jewish community, museum and kosher restaurant, all of which are based on the same underground building with parking. Under the synagogue there is also mikveh - a ritual bath with sauna. The community center with lecture hall is located next to this base and is connected on the same level. Architecturally, the buildings are organized into a square shape on the common underground base depending on their function. Used façade materials are stone dark grey cladding. The synagogue differentiates both in shape and material. It’s exterior surface symbolises the history of the location and used fragments of the stone base of the lost synagogue. The synagogue itself is covered with golden ceramic glass surface cladding. The golden details also spread on the surrounding buildings in the form of decorative grating by the windows.

Résumé :
The aim of the thesis was to create an architectural study of the new synagogue in Opava. Similarly to many other towns and cities, the former synagogue was burned during Kristallnacht, the ruins were completely demolished and taken away. Nowadays there are no buildings on the site, except the former Rabbi’s house. Basic idea was in preserving the park character of the site by insertion of a non-arrogant low cuboid volume in the neighbourhood of apartment buildings from the first half of the 20th century. Designed form benefits from the character of the site while humbly avoiding construction on the actual place where the burnt synagogue stood. This creates an elegant, low object, whose two dominant ceiling slabs are filled with glass in between so it preserves a part of the park’s existing transparency and let the interior freely connect with exterior, also thanks to large sliding windows. In the center of the block is situated three sides closed atrium, which surrounds the new synagogue, into whose interior delicate scattered sunlight penetrates through the translucent onyx stone walls.

The result of the design is a new community center. This has the task of restoring existence and supporting the development of the jewish community, which has not found its way back to Opava since world war II. Three separate objects cover the needs of this community for everyday and spiritual life. This includes education taking place in the library, the seat of the jewish community and its leaders, ritual cleansing areas of the mikveh and the commercial space of the kosher food or products store. It is necessary to have a kosher restaurant providing proper eating. An important part is also the space of cultural activities in the form of artistic or other exhibitions and events. The main area of the complex is a synagogue where prayers, festivities and meetings are held.

Résumé :
The aim of thediploma thesis is to design an architectural study of a new synagogue in Opava for the Jewish community. Content of the work is also a community center and administration. In the deign is a set of three buildings serving the Jewish community. The design is solved as an interconnected space between the public and the Jewish community. With its openness and permeability, it offers the opportunity to look into the Jewish community. The main object, the synagogue, for believers is directly linked to the construction of the Jewish community, where at the same level we can find mikve for ritual purrification. The second object, the Jewish community, offers two business units in the first floor. The important part of the Jewish community is education, and therefore the design of the Jewish community also contains a library and a clasroom connected to this library. The administration itself is located on the private last floor with a terrace. A third building, a community center, has been created to make the public familiar with the Jewish community, its religion and culture. The first floor is used by the kosher restaurant, which can use the central space between the park landscaping for sitting. The Community Center provides a lecture hall on the second floor and a spacious gallery for Jewish artists on the third floor.

Résumé :
The diploma project handles the design of the synagogue and buildings of the Jewish community in Opava. The project is formed as an architectural study. Apart from the synagogue, the design also includes a mixed-use building under the administration of the Jewish community. This building combines several departments – a kosher restaurant, which is adapted to prepare meals according to Jewish eating habits, workshop rooms, administration of the Jewish community and community library. These departments are supplemented by temporary accommodation and starter flats for students and by two commercial units. The entire complex is complemented by underground parking and the necessary technical facilities. There was an original synagogue in the area, which was burned down by the Nazis and the only remnant here is the building of the former rabbinic house, now serving as the seat of the Christian Association. The basis of the concept is the legible urbanism of the design, which connects the polyfunctional building to the block type design of the surrounding buildings, allowing the synagogue itself to stand out as a solitary object. Its orientation creates a public space with the entrances to the synagogue and the outside seating of kosher restaurant. An architectural language of simple lines was chosen for both objects. The contrast and emphasis on the importance of the synagogue over the other object is achieved by the used materials. The monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton was chosen as the construction principle, the layout is different according to the departments of the individual parts of the design.

Résumé :
The thesis deals with the design of a new synagogue in Opava. The location is defined on the site of a former synagogue near the city behind no longer existing city walls, as was typical for the location of Jewish communities. The site of the original fortification is now largely taken by a strip of urban orchards, with the historic building of the Breda department store as the imaginary ending. The fact that the intended location adjoins these orchards played an important role in the design proposal. Another important factor entering the design proposal was the surrounding block of flats. From these input factors, the concept of arranging the territory was created, resulting in creating a semi-open block towards the green circular belt, in which the solitary building of the new synagogue is located in its central location. The building of the community center completing the existing block of flats forms rather the background for this synagogue. The concept of the synagogue building itself did not result from a particular symbol, but rather from abstraction that I perceive as typical of religious belief, because even the Holy Scripture is merely an interpretation of certain events that everyone can imagine differently when reading or interpreting them. The object of the synagogue is thus levitated in a cloud changing according to the angle of view. It is more or less obvious – is or is not. The overlap of the designed building resides in the further placement of the columns forming the cloud at important points of the city. On the pillars we can find Jewish verses in both languages, which font becomes bright after dark.

The architectural study deals with the creation of a new synagogue in Jihlava, in the place of the original burned Jihlava synagogue from 1931 by German Nazis. The proposal works with the idea of restoring burned foundations, the walling wall and the incorporation of adjacent fortifications. One of the main ideas of the proposal is to work with contrast - closeness x openness. The principles of the project are based on the history of Jewish culture, its symbolism and the simplicity of urban and dispositional solutions. The proposal also deals with spaces for the Jewish community, kosher restaurant and mikveh. The Jewish Community Building provides administrative, teaching, community and museum space. At the same time, the project aims to create new links to the original design of the G.M Park and the public space where it would gain information on Judaism, the way of life of the Jewish community and their history.

Résumé :
Topic of this master thesis is a design of a synagogue together with Jewish community facilities in Trutnov. The thesis is made in the phase of architectural study. Assigned site is located near the historical center of Trutnov. There is a reminder of the old synagogue that was burned out during WW2. There is also newly reconstructed park around it. Main purpose of the proposal is to respect the park with old synagogue and connect both places so anyone can share the experience of reminder of the past together with new function. The designed volume opens towards the street and communicates with the new park with its vast openings. Function of the new building is inspired by the idea of Judaism. It is connected not only with the synagogue but also with communal life, education, celebrations, or art. That is why the proposal is connecting all the functions under one roof and the synagogue is “guarding” all of them from above. The building has three floors. On the lowest floor, there is underground garage. On the ground floor we can find space for Jewish community administration, room for exhibitions, mikveh and kitchen part for the kosher restaurant. The upper floor is mostly terrace. There is only kosher restaurant and synagogue.

The architectural study deals with the design of a new synagogue in Trutnov, located on the site of the original synagogue, which was burned down in 1938 during the so-called Crystal Night. Currently, the area is a place of reverence, as a reminder of this historical event. The concept works with this idea and develops it further by adding other functions of the Jewish community - kosher restaurant, the Jewish community centre, and the mikveh. Due to the site location between two historical neoclassical buildings, the grounds should look humble and non-conflicting. The concept of the site is based on the needs of each individual functional unit and on the historical ties in the area. The concept of the synagogue itself is derived from the history of Jewish culture, its connections and mostly symbolism. Also, the reference to the original burned down synagogue is taken into account.

The Jewish community needs space for daily and spiritual life. The buliding program is therefore divided into two main objects. The synagogue with a prayer room and a mikveh is located on same place as the first synagogue. The preserved foundation system of the first synagogue creates a barrier from the sloping terrain for the new synagogue. This creates a symbiosis of the original and the new. The community center contains spaces for education, administration, catering and celebrations. The location of the community center respects the original villas, which are located close.

The diploma project is an elaborate design of a synagogue including associated facilities for the Jewish population in Trutnov. The proposition is designed in the phase of architectural study. The location of the proposal is placed near the historic centre of Trutnov. The intention of the proposal was to respect the conditions of the surroundings and relations with the environment and at the same time provide the Jewish population with representative and sufficiently sized spaces for their activities. The main building also provides an opportunity for chance encounters between the Jewish population and the public, thus indirectly contributing to the growth of the Jewish community and awareness of Judaism as such. The main building is a three-storey building placed in the terrain so that it forms natural "stairs" in the slope of the hill. The roofs of the building also serve as walking terraces, which ensure the accessibility and walkability of the plot. In the basement there are garages, the 1st floor contains a kosher restaurant and space for co-working. On the last floor, a mikveh, a space for the administration of the Jewish community and an archive of Jewish literature are designed. The second designed building is a newly designed synagogue, which stands on the site of the old synagogue. The original synagogue was burned out during Crystal night. The design pays respect to the original synagogue by including the floor plan of it in the paving pattern.

Résumé :
The subject of the diploma thesis was the elaboration of an architectural study of the new synagogue in Jihlava in the newly reconstructed park with the monument of Gustav Mahler. The assignment was the design of a new synagogue, premises for a Kosher restaurant and a Jewish community building. All functions are the subject of a solution on a relatively small built-up area in the place of the original burned Jihlava synagogue. The basis of the proposal was to create a dialogue between two buildings of the synagogue and the Jewish community. Between these two objects is located a kosher restaurant as a connecting element. It infill the gap site - moat and at the same time connects the space between the objects using the park on its roof. Résumé :
The diploma project handles the design of the synagogue and other buildings of the Jewish community in Jihlava. The project is formed as an architectural study. Apart from the synagogue, the proposed set of buildings also includes a kosher restaurant, which is characteized by a specific cooking convention, and the administration of a Jewish community with a lecture hall and a community library. The entire complex is complemented by underground parking and the necessary technical facilities. The area is located on the edge of the historical center of Jihlava and the character of the place is strongly determined by the presence of fortifications and fortification greenery. The concept is based on legible urbanism, which copies the line of fortification. Between the proposed building complex and the walls of fortification the park is preserved and valorises the urban potential of the site. The functions are divided into separate objects. A uniform architectural language of simple cubic volumes was chosen for all buildings. The principles of the construction and inner disposition of individual buildings vary according to their characteristics.

The proposal consists of the design of 3 buildings connected to each other by a cen-tral courtyard. The form is based on the traditional values set into contemporary de-sign shaped by demands of current generations. One of the main design elements - the beam structure above the courtyard implies a symbol of The Star of David as the symbol of Judaism as we know today. The synagogue has always played a crucial role in the life of the Jewish people. It is the embodiment of a religion which dates its proud past as stemming from the beginning of creation. Nevertheless, the passing of time has not diminished the people's fervor in the observation of age-old customs, traditions, and laws. However. the Jewish people are flexible enough to acknowledge the changes inherent in the passing of time. This concept of time. a respect for the past and an awareness of the present with a projection for the future, is paramount in the architectural development of the synagogue. Throughout the years. synagogue planners have considered this melding of the present with the past, modernity with antiquity as a reflection of the needs of its people at a given time. Fundamental to the design of my synagogue is what I consider its three-fold purpose: a House of Prayer, a House of Study, and a House of Assembly -- all coalescing to serve the spiritual, intellectual, and social needs of the people. It will consider the necessity of continuity without sacrificing the need for versatility and adaptability, all within the parameters of its utilitarian needs. While ancient symbols, traditional artifacts, and alter objects should be visible, even that which is not visible but revered even more will be lovingly, albeit subtly. evident. Thus. G- d's presence will be manifested within the symbolic design concepts, the lofty structural innovations, the light and shadow imagery. The most modern artistic and architectural techniques will be utilized to create a beautiful, utilitarian, versatile synagogue, adaptable to the changing needs of its community. Thus, this synagogue can play a most important role in keeping our religion timely and timeless.

Résumé :
The topic of my diploma thesis is the architectonical study of the new synagogue of Frýdek-Místek. The plot contained the original synagogue in the past, which was, like many other synagogues in Czechia, burned down by the Nazis. The only memento to the original synagogue left was the Jewish school. Its frontage was however stripped of all architecturally valuable elements and therefore lost all its historical value. For this reason, in the scope of this thesis, I have decided to tear down the old building and create a completely new complex, which will comply with the requirements of the Jewish quahal, with regards to architecture and utilization of the object. I’ve designed a monument, consisting of simple stone blocks in place of the old, torn down synagogue. The stone blocks mark the location of the outer walls of the original synagogue.

Résumé :
The diploma project handles the design of the synagogue and other buildings of the Jewish community in Frýdek - Místek. The project is formed as an architectural study. The complex of the Jewish community includes, in addition to the synagogue itself, a kosher restaurant, which is characterized by a specific cooking convention, as well as a Jewish gallery, a library and the administration of the Jewish community. The whole complex is complemented by an underground car park. The area is located close to the border of the historic city center. The land is not monotonous, in some parts it is relatively flat, in others it is sloping. It is bounded on the north by a blind road and on the south by road II. class on Revoluční street. At present, the territory of the former synagogue is unused and neglected. The idea of the design is based on simple principles of basic geometric shapes - circle and square. The circle is a symbol of heaven and eternity and the square is a symbol of earthliness and transience. The symbolism of numbers is also applied in the proposal, especially "1" - a sign of unity, indivisibility, as well as God; "2" - number of opposites - heaven and earth; "3" completeness and stability. From the compositional point of view, it is a line of 3 blocks of the same base and height, while one of them is fitted with a cylinder, which is the tallest of all objects. This results from the Jewish tradition. All objects are designed on a platform that symbolizes the ascent to the Temple Mount. The above mentioned functions are divided into separate objects. A uniform architectural language is chosen for all buildings. The principles of construction and layout of individual buildings differ according to their operation.

Résumé :
The thesis deals with a hypothetical project of a new building complex of a synagogue, a kosher restaurant and a community centre at the location of the former synagogue in Frýdek. The proposal includes a memorial of the destroyed synagogue and Jewish community, as well as the incorporation of the complex into the urban structure of the city. The project proposes a building distributed into three volumes. The restaurant and community centre are connected by an underground garage within a U-shaped floor plan. The buildings are axially symmetrical, white, with expressive rhythmical perforations of the facade. They surround the building of the synagogue in the shape of a seven-sided pyramid, which is clad with blue tempered steel and creates a strong contrast with the associated buildings. The whole complex is oriented towards the park and the chateau in Frýdek, from which it is clearly visible and thanks to its distinct volumetric and material expression and axially symmetrical composition creates a new landmark for the city.

Résumé :
The assignment of the diploma thesis was the elaboration of an architectural study of a new synagogue in the Frýdek-Místek. The solved area includes the original lands of the Jewish community, on which stood a synagogue, a Jewish school and a rabbinate. The synagogue was burned down in 1939 and currently only the rebuilt Jewish school building is located in the area. The main idea of the design is to build a memorial on the site of the original synagogue and a new synagogue with an adjoining community centre. The main goal is to support the development of the Jewish community in the city and to remind citizens and visitors of the history, because of which the Jewish community in Frýdek-Místek disappeared. In contrast to the monument, the entire building is set in the terrain so that the terrain passes freely in a public space with the main entrance to the community centre and a kosher restaurant. The building opens up to the south side of the slope and offers a view of the historic city centre of Frýdek. The area is connected by a footbridge to the park under the castle. Part of the community centre is a space for a ritual bath - Mikveh, the administration of the Jewish community and a multifunctional hall, which can be opened to the area in front of the residential staircase. The area is separated from Revoluční Street by a retaining wall and thus form an attractive place to spend time near the historic centre.

The requirement of the assignment for the new synagogue and also a connected seat for the Jewish village in Olomouc with connected operations a place for museum of Jewish cultures. The Jewish village in Olomouc is of rather closed character. The target was to created a complex with connection of areas closed to the village members and opened for the public. Based on the ideas, a complex of three buildings was established and their mapping out suits perfectly to the basic principle. The objects in the area are situated in order to their basic function can be supported. The synagogue together with the Jewish village are very closely directed into calmer, easwest part of the area. Against to this place is a muzeum, designed by the street tř. Svobody, which is also very frequented pedestrian connecting line. Résumé :
The project was influenced by several factors, the most significant being the water element, which is very important for Judaism and primarily symbolizes ritual purification. The concept divides the area in the axis of Nešverova Street, making an orthogonal block, further separated according to the functions, and public area under which a part of the underground parking is located. The block consists of the synagogue, museum, restaurant and administrative building of the Jewish community with a library. From the architectural standpoint, the project was significantly influenced by the stained glass window of the burned former synagogue, which was, in more modern spirit, imprinted into the museum’s facade. This window becomes a dominant element of the facade, because it pervades all three floors, so the rest of the building is not divided and for lighting of the exhibition areas skylights and artificial light are used. Significance of this concept is intensified by the fact that the visitor is dragged inside, right to the front of the synagogue, to which a ramp leads. There is an importance of the mentioned water element in the design of the synagogue. The whole concept is approached organically and was inspired by a drop of water falling down on the surface. The synagogue literally grows from a body of water which surrounds it and creates a crystalline element. The idea is amplified by the water wall which runs from the passageway all around the synagogue. Part of the administrative building and the restaurant are designed in more simple style, but the idea of arch is reflected in the moulding, which was designed intentionally with reference to the surrounding buildings. The rest of the site served as a small park and this function has been maintained. A significant element in this part of the site is Theresian gate, which remained from the 18th century fortification. The park was supplemented by an artificial bank, which covers the entrance to underground parking a

The goal of the project was to design a synagogue, new place for the Jewish community of Olomouc and Jewish museum on the site of original burnt synagogue. The concept was based on an effort to restore dialogue between private and public (openness vs. closeness of Jewish community) and to connect the individual functions and create a closed functional unit to fulfil the needs of Jewish community, however, also communicate with the public. The complex contains kosher restaurant, museum of Jewish culture, administration, library, community hall, educational room, kosher grocery store, mikveh the ritual bath, chapel and the garden.
