Résumé :
This essay investigates some of the major pandemics in human history and scrutinizes their sociological, economic, and political pay-offs. To what extent can pandemics transform our society? How do the pandemics in history relate to the current? The Plague of Athens caused disappointment towards Greek gods since the Athenians felt they were not getting enough support from Apollo. The Plague of Justinian brought revolts across the empire and led to the end of Classical Antiquity. The Black Death changed the future vision of Europeans significantly because death was omnipresent. Although the death toll of cholera pandemic was limited, it triggered stigmatization, violence, and racism towards Asian people, especially to Indians. The Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés would never have been able to colonize the Aztec civilization without the smallpox outbreak. After an episode of absurdism and Dadaism, the Spanish flu brought the Roaring Twenties with widespread use of radio, dance-halls, jazz, Harlem Renaissance, gay and lesbian scenes, and women’s suffrage. Coronavirus pandemic shows that society is digitizing at light speed among the art world. This essay also shows that our economy is a positive-sum economy in contrast to the zero-sum economy in times of the Black Death and before. There is also a delicate balance that must be maintained between keeping the pandemic under control and respecting the democratic principles. The essay concludes that each pandemic has an idiosyncratic nature and a pandemic can have different effects in different societies or regions in the world.

The Covid-19 pandemic (corona virus disease) which is still ongoing today has an impact on all aspects and lifestyles of people globally. The changes that have occurred have made a paradigm shift in life, both during the pandemic, or after the pandemic ended. Through this pandemic, people have also learned that home is an important place for life, both with all the advantages and disadvantages in it. This project aims to meet the community's need for a place to live that is flexible and does not give the impression of supporting residents of the pandemic and after the pandemic, while still paying attention to the safety of the residents. The method used is a qualitative method by examining: the theory of resilience; and green building theory. The final conclusion is that this project is available to provide co-living apartments that are safe, comfortable, flexible, responsive to pandemics to post-pandemic, and buildings that implement eco -building. The novelty in this project is to create a residence that can adapt to conditions during the pandemic and after the pandemic with eco-building concept. Education through the eyes of students studying in Krakow in the pandemic era The COVID-19 pandemic has a negative effect on the mental and physical wellbeing of almost every individual on the globe. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the population of students studying in Krakow, Poland. This paper presents a meta-analysis of the impact of the epidemic on the lives of students around the world. The aftermath of the pandemic is discussed ranging from obligatory educational changes, sudden transformations in the job market, to the psychosocial consequences of the new circumstances that came with the spread of the virus. An analysis of a study conducted on students from Krakow is presented; it indicates that professors’ preparation for online classes is for the most part unsatisfactory. Interestingly, however, many students are satisfied with the fact that their education is conducted remotely. Compared to the data from currently available studies, the level of pandemic stress is slowly decreasing over time. Although people’s

Résumé :
In the middle of March 2020, Indonesia declared a Covid-19 emergency. This pandemic has an impact on art activities, including the artistic world of graffiti. During this time, the activities of graffiti artists in public spaces were increasingly limited. However, this limitation does not dampen their spirit, especially in terms of organizing exhibitions. Where on May 17, 2020, they held a virtual exhibition titled "Youth Pandemics." This topic is interesting to discuss since organizing a virtual exhibition is a new thing for graffiti artists, especially in Indonesia. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. This study's results reveal that implementing a virtual exhibition gave new alternative space for graffiti artists during a pandemic. Also, a virtual exhibition is a place to gather for graffiti artists amid their social limitations. Pameran Virtual Graffiti “Pandemic Youth” ABSTRAK Medio Maret 2020 Indonesia dinyatakan darurat Covid-19.

Abrams “The Mirror and the Lamps”. The world is currently facing a massive epidemic. This outbreak is known as COVID-19. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on all aspects of people’s lives, including education, health and the economy. COVID-19, unlike other pandemics, is caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, which limits all community activities. Everything is done from home. This paper focuses on pandemic issues that are narrated in literary works from the past to the present. Therefore, the problem in this paper is formulated in the form of a question: “How is the pandemic described in classical Indonesian literature and contemporary Indonesian literature? This study uses the literary criticism approach of M.H. Abrams “The Mirror and the Lamps”. Abrams’ literary criticism manifests three functions of literature: literature as a mirror, literature as a lamp, and literature as a medium. The findings show that the pandemic has become the subject of Indonesian literary works, both in classical and contemporary times.

Résumé :
The burden and behaviour of influenza in Southeast Asia is poorly charac- terised, leading to uncertainty about the importance of influenza as a local health problem and the role of Southeast Asia in the global epidemiology of influenza. Prospective community-based studies have provided fundamental insights into the epidemiology of influenza in temperate regions; therefore a household-based cohort study was established with the aim of determining the intensity and characteristics of influenza transmission in a semi-rural tropical setting. The primary results of the cohort study are presented, along with the results of a survey of social contact patterns in the cohort and a mathemati- cal model of the spread of pandemic influenza A/H1N1/2009 in Vietnam that utilises data from the cohort. Highly pathogenic avian influenza A/H5N1 remains endemic in poultry in parts of Southeast Asia and continues to infect humans. Marked familial clustering of human H5N1 cases has led to speculation that susceptibility to H5N1 infection may have a host genetic component. The epidemiological data that led to the hypothesis of genetic susceptibility to H5N1 is summarised, whilst the evidence for a role of host genetics in susceptibility to influenza in general is systematically reviewed. A genome-wide case-control genetic association study was conducted in Vietnam and Thailand to test the hypothesis of genetic susceptibility to H5N1 infection, and the results are presented. This work provides new data and understanding of the patterns and deter- minants of inter-pandemic, pandemic, and avian influenza epidemiology. The cohort study has added to the body of knowledge that is accruing on the burden and epidemiology of influenza in the tropics by providing community level data that were previously absent. The genetics study has provided the first direct evidence of genetic loci associated with susceptibility to H5N1 and opens new avenues of research to test these findings and their relevance to the pathogenesis of H5N1 and other types of influenza.

O software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences e a abordagem Partial Least Squares (PLS) foram utilizadas para avaliar o modelo conceptual.
The increased popularity of social networking sites and the establishment of Electronic Commerce has given rise to a new business model entitled Social Commerce (SC). SC involves using Web 2.0 social media technologies that support users' interactions, facilitating the online selling and acquisition of products and services. SC is increasingly attracting the attention of academic researchers within the Information Systems (IS) field, being implicit a need to understand SC users' behavior. Additionally, since the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted consumers online behavior, it becomes important to analyze its role in the intention and usage of a technology. To investigate this aspect, the second version of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) was extended in order to determinate which factors impact Behavioral Intention and Use of Social Commerce. For that, additional determinants in Social Commerce acceptance and adoption were identified, taking in consideration the COVID-19 pandemic context. A quantitative approach was conducted, based on data collected from a sample of 209 respondents and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences and Partial Least Squares (PLS) path modeling were used to assess the model. The study results showed that Habit, Hedonic Motivation, Performance Expectancy, Social Commerce Constructs are significant in the formation of Behavioral Intention and Use of SC. This study findings also revealed that the pandemic had impacted the frequency of use of SC, being the Perceived Lack of Alternatives a determinant in the intention to use SC.

Résumé :
Medical tourism, as many other industries, has suffered a big hit during the Covid pandemic. Being impacted both on the tourism and the healthcare side of the industry, it faces multiple challenges to recover. Looking at another period in time when the medical tourism industry was this heavily impacted and comparing technological advances during the respective periods, this article elaborates on how to better use digital technologies to rebuild and strengthen international patient care infrastructures. Before delving into the topic at hand I make the usual disclaimer: Due to the sensitive nature of the industry, there is not a lot of hard data available on medical tourism. Many hospitals do not record foreign patients differently than local patients, due to the specific set of laws that apply to them. Only a few medical tourism destinations collect hard data and survey medical tourists on their experience. Thus, any quantative analysis of the impact the Covid pandemic had and will have on medical tourism is strongly limited.

Résumé :
Architecture is known to gather people and encourage shared spaces in our buildings and homes, while the Corona virus, aka COVID-19 has refrained us from our usual face to face communication and meetups. For some, work and social life has been reduced and limited to a screen, virtual meetings for studies, work, social events and so forth. Architecture has its impact on us more than ever before. It can and should provide us safety, infection control and prevention from getting sick. The materials we choose to design our home with is also crucial in a pandemic situation as we should be looking for disinfectant material properties. Copper have been shown to perform better than other common materials like steel, plastic, and wood. Air circulation and ventilation in inner spaces will also have stricter requirements where the air should be changed every hour and checking the air quality – that could be improved with the ratio of greenery and open spaces. Designing a home that can stimulate the productivity, flexibility, comfort, happiness, and health in its dwellers is the ultimate goal for this study. The target audience for the thesis are architects, interior designers and laymen who are interested in this field or those that are seeking a design which promotes healthy, safe and adequate living spaces and homes. The methods used in this study where both quantitative and qualitative methods through an international online survey as well as conducting local interviews with residential buildings’ dwellers in Berlin. On one hand, poor design can lead to both higher expenses in the long term as well as leading to bad physical and mental health, which is felt through the responses from both the survey and interviews. The biophilic design on the other hand, can have a huge positive impact on the dwellers both physically and mentally and should be tested and used more as a solid base for designing interior spaces.

Résumé :
This paper focuses on the two-way relationship between a pandemic and architecture. Architecture serves human needs, adapts to them and evolves because of them. This study aims to investigate the issues and challenges that arose in modern housing during the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. A historical review of the pandemics which have plagued humanity is briefly described. Pandemics, as global emergencies, affect human life, the places where the individual is active, and, consequently, the architectural structures. For this reason, the main tool of the study was a questionnaire that was developed and distributed to young people aged between 18 to 35, living in European cities with a population of more than one million. In this way, an initial study was conducted to find out about ways of living during the pandemic and to question how modern architecture will be affected by the current pandemic. In a big part, World War II has formed the current complex housing structures in the modern world. Today, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the current transitional era has brought changes to peoples' lifestyles. The paper continues with the presentation and analysis of the questionnaire’s answers and records the houses’ current issues due to this crisis. The study concludes with certain themes of potential design and environmental strategies for sustainable housing, to improve the individuals' quality of life.

Résumé :
On 5 May 2023, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the end of the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) for COVID-19. It is important to learn lessons from our experience, including the management shifting from pandemic to endemic. It is the time to create the foundations for a pandemic resilient society, in order to avoid similar health and economic catastrophes for the next time around. Building a pandemic resilient society requires sustainable, long-term financing and resilience requires an inter-sectorial dialogue within society across different sectors, not only within the health sector. This paper provides policy recommendations and a set of good practices to implement structures for a pandemic-resilient society.
