This article examines the application of Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning theories in behaviorism to modify students' truancy behavior at school. In the era of industrial revolution 4.0, students' active participation is essential to achieve optimal educational goals. Consistent student attendance will help them receive knowledge and form a strong character, while truant behavior will hinder academic and personal development. This research is a literature review that analyzes and summarizes relevant research and theories to gain an in-depth understanding of the topic. Classical Conditioning creates a positive relationship between class attendance and a pleasant experience. Operant Conditioning uses both positive and negative reinforcement, such as providing rewards for consistent attendance and consequences for non-attendance. The implementation of these two approaches in schools shows positive results, increasing attendance and reducing truancy. Thus, this theory provides practical solutions for educators to create an environment that supports positive behavior. This article is expected to provide insight into effective strategies in modifying student behavior.

Abstract The present article deals with different Marxist theories on the Soviet experience, which emerged in post-Soviet Russophone Marxist or neo-Marxist scholarship (concurrently with some reference to Marxist traditions in other former Eastern Bloc countries). The article demonstrates that these theories – if we leave the remaining ‘Marxist-Leninists’ of the classical Soviet type aside and focus on critical, post-Soviet Marxism – may be classified as either ‘fundamentally rejectionist’ or ‘Thermidorian’. The former, in line with the seminal criticisms of K. Kautsky and other early opponents of Lenin, reject the socialist nature of the October 1917 Revolution outright. The latter mostly define the Revolution as at least socialist-oriented, but further bifurcate into different varieties of the ‘state capitalism’ thesis with a number of theorists defining Stalinist societies as special varieties of post-revolutionary industrialism essentially different from orthodox capitalism. Most critical post-Soviet Marxists agree, however, that the main vector of Soviet-type regimes’ evolution indeed pointed towards increased class stratification. However, it should be remembered that Soviet-type bureaucracy was a class-in-the-making rather than a class-in-itself or a class-for-itself, and this point is further elaborated in the works of those theorists who prioritise the differences rather than similarities between Soviet-type industrialism and orthodox capitalism.

AbstractScholars have paid little attention to Maoist forces and legacies, and especially to the influences of Maoism on people's everyday dress habits during the Cultural Revolution. This article proposes that people's everyday clothing during that time – a period that has often been regarded as the climax of homogenization and asceticism – became a means of resistance and expression. This article shows how during the Cultural Revolution people dressed to express resistance, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and to reflect their motivations, social class, gender and region. Drawing on oral histories collected from 65 people who experienced the Cultural Revolution and a large number of photographs taken during that period, the author aims to trace the historical source of fashion from the end of the 1970s to the 1980s in Guangdong province. In so doing, the author responds to theories of socialist state discipline, everyday cultural resistance, individualism and the nature of resistance under Mao's regime.

This article examines three models—moral economy, rational choice, and class structure—that have been applied to rebellions and revolutionary movements in Southeast Asia. All three are found lacking in various ways and unable to provide convincing explanations for the growth and continuing strength of the contemporary revolutionary movement in the Philippines. The Aquino government is challenged by a movement that has a mass base of roughly ten million and fields a fighting force of twenty thousand to twenty-five thousand men and women. It is active in virtually every province and city of the nation. Based on the present case study, suggestions are made both for ways in which the insights of extant theories can be synthesized and ways in which these theories must be revised if they are to be made more generally applicable to today's revolutions.

<p><em>Counselor competence is the ability (knowledge, skills and attitudes) that must be possessed by someone to help others who have problems, so that the problems faced are resolved. It becomes very important if a prospective class teacher in MI / SD must be able to have this competency. This research focuses on the study of increasing counselor competence for prospective class teachers in MI and Elementary Schools in the era of the industrial revolution era 4.0 which is carried out by universities that carry out basic education programs. This study uses a literature-based research method, which is conducted by studying and exploring various theories and practices through literature ranging from scientific journals, books, as well as various data and facts. The results of this study indicate that the Directorate of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religion has presented all competencies that must be achieved by prospective class teachers. Managerial competence and general skills that must be possessed by prospective teachers in MI / SD classes are in accordance with the needs of a teacher in the era of the industrial revolution era 4.0, namely counselor competence, so that prospective teachers of MI / SD classes from Islamic tertiary institutions can be said to be able to become suitable class teachers with the industrial revolution era 4.0.</em></p>

Through the analysis of the existing problems of the English class room teaching, new strategies have been brought forward. With a large amount of practices and deep study, a new model of Ecological English classroom teaching is built which has significant meaning in the further development of English teaching.

Eric Blanc's article, “Taking the Right Lessons from Lenin and the Russian Revolution,” critically examines the enduring influence of Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution on socialist movements, highlighting the challenges of applying revolutionary strategies in parliamentary contexts. Blanc argues that while Leninist parties have played significant roles in advancing working-class interests, their revolutionary approach has been less effective in advanced capitalist democracies. He emphasizes that the Russian Revolution demonstrated the potential to overthrow capitalism but warns against overgeneralizing its strategies. Blanc critiques the myth of Bolshevik exceptionalism and the rigid organizational discipline often associated with Leninism, proposing instead a more flexible and inclusive approach to building socialist movements. Perhaps no other revolution in modern times, whether American, French, Russian, or Algerian, has stirred such different emotions and raised so many theories of the act itself as the Haitian Revolution. This essay is framed around the given and received interpretations of Haiti’s long history in order to demonstrate that there is neither curse nor punishment in Haiti’s history; there is only intrigue, interest, and interference. The natural disasters whether earthquakes or hurricanes do not occur because of some rational targeting of the country but are the results of the arbitrariness of nature. Of course, how Haiti has dealt with these natural disasters can be interpreted from positions of class narrative, religious narrative, and cultural narrative.

This article addresses the key aspects of constructing contemporary theories in institutional economics. The goal is to uncover the paradigmatic framework guiding different strategies in institutional theories and their potential for change. Using interdisciplinary constructivist methods from social sciences, the study highlights the intersubjective nature of economics and contrasts the principles that serve as the foundation for the development of institutional economic theories. The study’s historical review shows that shared research strategies have emerged from a paradigm rooted in the marginalist revolution. In this approach, collective phenomena explain the behavior of agents pursuing utilitarian motives. The unorthodox strategy involves constructing macro-, micro-, and historical-economic theories based on the distinction of two main levels of research: value-normative and institutional-instrumental. Meanwhile, the mainstream strategy concentrates only on institutions and tools. Relying on the established paradigm results in the creation of structuralist and eclectic theories that lead to a fragmented view of the economy. The paper advocates a transition to a poststructuralist paradigm via constructivist logic. This shift entails examining the relationship between agents and institutions from the perspective of economic culture, values, and ideas, rather than psychology. This approach enables a multi-level assessment of the economy as a system of institutions forged through value compromise. It also allows us to show internal changes, considering the impact of path determinacy linked to new values and ideas (ideational path determinacy).

Through a detailedexegesis of Blum’s writings, this study seeks to unearth the richness of his analysis ofthe social and moral pathologies stemming from the deepening of theindividualization process, which affected these different groups from the late 19thcentury until 1920, as well as the distinct actions that Blum proposed and engaged into address them.In doing so, this research offers both a reinterpretation of his personal trajectoryand a renewed understanding of his socialism. Economic development gained prominence as a field of economics after World War II in relation to the prospects of what came to be called underdeveloped, decolonizing, developing, or Third World countries. The period between the 1950s and 1980s saw the emergence of various theories of economic development and policy strategies, and the growth of “development studies” reflected cross-disciplinary interest in the subject. In the early decades, women received little or no attention. If women were discussed at all in policy circles, it was in relation to their role as mothers, an approach that came to be known as the welfare or motherhood approach. The field of women in development (WID) emerged in the 1970s. Since the 1990s, women’s participation and gender dynamics have evolved as central issues in the discourse and policies of international development. Along with changes in theories and policies of economic development, WID developed with distinct or overlapping fields known as women and development (WAD), gender and development (GAD), the efficiency approach, and the empowerment approach. Several basic themes can be identified from the literature on women and gender in development, including: all societies exhibit a division of labor by sex; economic development has had a differential impact on men and women, although the impact on women has tended to be conditioned by class and ethnicity; economic policy making and institutions have a gendered nature, and the ways in which macroeconomics and the social relations of gender influence each other.

Chapter abstract Marx and Bourdieu embark from similar criticisms of philosophers as suffering from the illusion that ideas make history—what Marx calls ideology and Bourdieu calls scholastic reason. Accordingly, both turn from the logic of theory to the logic of practice. However, where Marx sees the relations of production as leading to class struggle and revolution, Bourdieu sees bodily practice as instilling symbolic domination through habitus. This leads Marx and Bourdieu to adopt divergent views of history, divergent approaches to social change, divergent roots of symbolic domination, and divergent perspectives on contentious politics. If the followers of Marx seek to explain the quiescence of the working class by developing theories of cultural hegemony, will the followers of Bourdieu build a research program that focuses on the internal contradictions and external anomalies of Bourdieu’s theory of symbolic domination?

Latinas, members of the largest ethnic/racial group in the United States, often have been omitted from social movement accounts or dismissed as politically passive, hindered by traditional cultural values. Like other women of color, Latinas have faced sexism and racism and class bias in social science accounts and social movements (civil rights, labor rights, and women’s rights). This chapter begins by problematizing the pan-ethnic label “Latina,” drawing from conceptual frameworks, including Anzaldúa’s “borderlands,” Crenshaw’s “intersectionality,” social movement theories of identity, and decolonial feminist theory. It provides a brief historical overview of Latinas in U.S. social movements to illustrate the significance of conquest and colonization as the critical context for generating Latina activism. The chapter concludes with a closer look at two social movements, environmental rights and immigrant rights, where Latinas were prominent participants who utilized ethnic, class, and gender identities as movement strategies to make claims and to mobilize constituents.

In the (often left-wing) writings on the Spanish Civil War, the idea of sacrifice (both transitive and intransitive) is intertwined with theories and practices of class conflict. The secular bent to much left-wing thinking did not preclude using associations with religious sacrifice to characterize the war’s fatalities; the bombing of Guernica and Madrid, for example, were both described as ‘martyrdoms’. Even in those views of the war that emphasized the importance of dialectical materialism, there is often an inherent logic of self-sacrifice—particularly for those middle-class and intellectual members of the Communist left whose commitment to revolution included a commitment to the supersession of their own individuality in the name of the party. This chapter examines how such ideological figurings of sacrifice are presented in lyrical and elegiac poems by poets such as W. H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Clive Branson, George Barker, Margot Heinemann, and Cecil Day Lewis.

Children in care (CiC), or looked after children, in England achieve less well than their non-looked after peers and as such they receive pupil premium plus funding. This book explores how the pupil premium plus is used to support the educational outcomes of CiC, with specific focus on professionals’ planning processes, the supports and interventions funded using pupil premium plus, and how the impact of the funding is tracked and monitored. It draws on empirical data from semi-structured interviews with designated CiC teachers, social workers, and school heads, and document analysis of 20 school pupil premium strategies. Ben Taylor uses educational theory to analyse the data, drawing on humanist theories, social pedagogy and critical pedagogy to identify key themes in the data including race and class. He argues that pupil premium plus is valued by professionals, who care deeply about CiC. He shows how it is seen as an important and supportive tool which goes beyond the academic to include social and emotional interventions and curriculum enrichment.

AbstractThe concept of change includes a variety of topics, situations, disciplines, dimensions, and aspects. Its diversity and impact on individuals and organizations has led to an array of definitions, models, and theories. Thus, changes constitute a response to values, transformations that are interpreted as opportunities to improve an organization’s resilience and increase its achievements. This chapter will further discuss the concept of change, leading to a deep analysis of teachers’ moral and ethical role in one of the most impactful changes in schools: the technological revolution. If teachers believe that change is necessary, they will make great efforts to implement it effectively both in class and at school. International examples will be shown (e.g., Israel, USA, UK, and Turkey), and conclusions will be drawn regarding the need to specifically train teachers to raise their ICT awareness and understand the drawbacks and risks of technology in the twenty-first century. Schools’ transformation in information and communication is not just a technological revolution but also a social and ethical change that involves teachers in a complex weave of technologies, its creators and users, their interactions, and the social context.

AbstractEarly Childhood Education (ECE) is understood to take place between birth and the age of 9 including preschool as well as primary school years. It is also at this stage that the greatest damage can be inflicted on the vulnerable growing child. This chapter through literature and data from one country internationally, one on the African continent and South Africa explores challenges of teaching and learning, at early childhood environments during the pandemic. These serve as bases for mapping out how these nations continue to survive and lay foundation for the future productive citizenry in their respective contexts. Issues of race and social class are laid bare so as to come up with plausible strategies to create sustainable early childhood learning environments. These are understood to be contexts where economic development of all in an environmentally sustainable manner for the social inclusion of all are emphasized. The chapter over and above the research literature also examines strategies as well as theories of sustainable early childhood learning environments by way of making recommendations for South Africa in its search for solutions under such emergency situations.

Abstract This chapter focuses on the actors of the armed struggle option of Latin American social movements, la via armada. Starting from a discussion of the main theories of Revolution, revolutionary movements and social revolutions, it passes to the more modern concept of revolutions “with a small r” that is gaining prominence in the theory and practice of revolutionary movements in contemporary Latin America. Then, it moves on to present the social (class, gender) and educational background of the guerrilleras/guerrilleros, both leaders and grassroots, the main strategies that have been elaborated and followed by Latin American guerrillas, and how they have evolved in time through trial and error (from foquismo, to the prolonged people’s war, and the Chilean road to socialism). It also analyzes some particularly interesting and unlikely cases of Latin American revolutionaries: poets, priests, and military men. In addition it traces the sources of inspiration and resonance of revolutionary movements and the role of other Latin American states, especially Cuba, in their development. The chapter concludes by arguing that while it seems the age of Latin American Revolutions with a capital R is coming to an end, we may be entering an age of revolutions (with a small r, following John Holloway) in which Revolution has changed meaning, becoming more of a political process, and not so much of a political event.

This chapter highlights the neglected, but significant, contribution of elite Moroccan women to advancing democratization, well beyond the vanguard struggle for rights. Occupying influential political leadership positions during the 1980s and 1990s, this elite (in both intellectual and class sense) also made significant intellectual contributions to the formulation of democratic concepts. Emphasizing the centrality of equality to democracy, they advanced transition to democracy by generalising this core feminist demand. The chapter argues that elite Moroccan women mobilization succeeded in pressing their demands and asserting a presence at the heart of the political system. Strategies including media campaigns, national and international networking, and enlisting power centres, such as the monarchy. While only a small portion of emerging female elite engaged in political activism, the overall impact was significant. Undeterred by the rise of (an admittedly moderate) Islamist government, feminists in fact succeeded in enlisting support from an important section of “Islamist feminists” behind key demands for women-friendly legislation. While there is still a long way go to achieve full equality, the feminist elite have contributed significantly to the practice and language of democratization. They also pose some paradoxical challenges to existing theories of democratization and elite roles.

This chapter provides a background on Ukraine when it was struggling to consolidate democracy. It examines existing theories that expect human capital formation and a growing middle-class to enhance the autocratic middle-class prospects for democratization. By focusing on the case of Ukraine, it also explores whether dependence on the state for economic opportunities and life chances moderates middle-class demands for democratic institutions. The chapter uses a panel survey spanning the Orange Revolution, which assesses how the distinctive political orientations of different groups within the middle-class affected the nature of protest coalitions during Ukraine's 2004 democratic breakthrough. It makes use of a difference-in-differences design to demonstrate that reliance on the state for economic opportunity caused the political preferences of new labor market entrants to diverge.

This study began with the question: Can mapping improve the quality of critical thinking in essay writing in an introductory level, core curriculum class? Two sections of the course, Introduction to Communication, were compared, without mapping and with mapping. Dependent measures were: (1) the word count for summarizing the critical incident to be analyzed; (2) the number of concepts/theories employed to analyze the critical incident; (3) the number of times a connection was made between the analytical concepts/theories and the critical incident; (4) the number of words used in summarizing the essay as a whole; and (5) the total number of words in the essay. In addition, the data were analyzed for practice since there were three attempts at essay writing. Practice at writing the paper had an especial effect on writing and mapping had an especial effect on laying out the problem and applying analytical concepts to it.

The transformation from face-to-face instruction to digital instruction or hybrid learning requires robust pedagogical strategies. This chapter addresses key pedagogical strategies used to support online learning experiences through the lenses of evidence-based educational theories. Additionally, the TPACK framework, which asserts that instruction requires the interplay of technological knowledge, content knowledge, and pedagogical knowledge, is used to analyze students' perceptions of flipped and double flipped online courses. The data show positive dispositions of flipping and double flipping the classroom as pedagogical strategies. Flipped content provided powerful instruction and provided participants with opportunities to utilize learned multimedia skills and receive constructive feedback from the instructor and peers. Double flipping promoted more classroom engagement, interactivity, and class discussions. In both flipped and double flipped classrooms, there was a shift from an instructor-driven learning environment to a whole-class driven learning environment.

Developing high-quality human resources is one of the important strategic breakthroughs to ensure the construction of Vietnam by 2045 into a developed country with high income following a Socialism orientation. This is one of the very important and urgent decisions. The Social Party determines to train high-quality human resources to meet the increasing need for integration in the context of the fourth industrial revolution taking place very quickly. This is a very important breakthrough; therefore, at the recent 8th Central Conference of the Communist Party of Vietnam, we focused on discussing a very important resolution signed in November 2023. That is Resolution No. 45, related to continuing to build and promote the role of the intellectual class to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development. Today, I am very grateful to come to the conference. I highly appreciate the Organizing Committee for inviting international and Vietnamese scientists, managers, and experts. During the conference, we hope to listen to the experiences, lessons, and initiatives of scientists and international organizations for us to continue researching and synthesizing. As the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in distribution grids increases, several power quality challenges arise. Due to its intermittent nature, RES lead to voltage and frequency fluctuations in the grid that affect power quality. Moreover, as RES are connected via power converters, there is also a higher harmonic distortion pollution introduced by the switching power electronics involved, (Liang, 2017). A proven solution is the implementation of Active Power Filters (APF), which are able to compensate the unbalanced, harmonic, and reactive components of a load under different supply conditions. In order to achieve the desired compensation characteristics, the selection of an appropriate control strategy is critical, (Kumar & Mishra, 2016). Classic APF control strategies achieve said goals, although with struggles under changing load scenarios with limitations on their operational modes, (Weihe, Cateriano Yáñez, Pangalos, & Lichtenberg, 2018).This paper proposes the use of an advanced model-based control method, i.e. Model Predictive Control (MPC), to improve the performance of APF devices. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) report, under current energy, climate, and industrial policies, EVs are projected to account for half of all global car sales by 2035. Furthermore, the report estimates that global electric car sales could reach approximately 17 million units by 2024, highlighting the rapid evolution and significance of EVs.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">The adoption of EVs extends beyond passenger cars to encompass two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles (light, medium, and heavy), illustrating a burgeoning trend in electrification across various modes and geographies. This report provides a detailed case study on automotive vehicle electrification, examining its impact across different transportation sectors.</div><div class="htmlview paragraph">Government policies, initiatives, standards, and regulations play a crucial role in accelerating this evolution. The report captures key governmental policies and initiatives and evaluates their influence on the current revolution. The robust growth of EVs is driving substantial investments in the supply chain and supporting industries such as charging stations and battery recycling, positioning them for future growth into the 2030s.The pace of EV adoption also hinges on affordability and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) parity compared to conventional vehicles. This presentation tackles the intricacies of public space, viewing it as a multifaceted concept that evolved significantly by the end of the 20th century. Adopting a relational approach, the aim is to move beyond narrow perspectives, employing methodologies and theoretical frameworks that seamlessly blend sociological and physical-spatial dimensions. By integrating various theories, the study delves into the realms of bodies, identity, and cultural configurations, understanding how these elements influence individuals’ interactions with public spaces. The theoretical framework is then applied to Nueva Córdoba, shedding light on social dynamics, perceptions, and strategies employed by young people from middle and upper-middle-class backgrounds in public spaces. The research seeks to uncover who inhabits these spaces and how, exploring community dynamics and strategies of differentiation. The qualitative methodology encompasses ethnography, participant observation, and focus groups for a comprehensive exploration. Esta ponencia aborda la problemática del espacio público como categoría-lugar, entendiendo que obtuvo características polisémicas hacia finales del siglo XX. Mediante un enfoque relacional se propone superar las perspectivas unidisciplinares para arribar a metodologías y marcos teóricos que suturen la contradicción sociológica y físico-espacial. Para ello, se integran diversas teorías, a los fines de profundizar en los cuerpos, la identidad y sus configuraciones culturales como elementos que influyen en la relación de los individuos con el espacio público. Se aplica el marco teórico al caso de Nueva Córdoba, revelando dinámicas sociales, percepciones y estrategias de juventudes de sectores medios y medios altos en el espacio público para comprender quiénes y cómo lo habitan, qué dinámicas comunitarias y estrategias de diferenciación se encuentran. La metodología cualitativa empleada incluye etnografía, observación participante y focus groups.

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Future developments for small engines, e.g. engines for handheld working tools, like chain saws require the integration of ECU-systems for engine control. For small engines often only a rotational speed senor is available. The application of additional engine sensors is in many cases unwanted, e.g. due to cost aspects and additional wiring. The lack of sensor data requires tailored control strategies and signal processing techniques to infer information about the engine from the sensor data. E.g. for rotational speed sensors the Δ<i>ω</i> method has been proposed, where the load is estimated from the temporal variation of the rotational speed. This approach requires a rotational speed sensor with sufficient angular resolution. In this paper we present a simulation study for a sensor fusion concept to improve the temporal resolution of engine speed measurements for low cost engines by means of an additional vibration sensor. The rotational sensor of the engine is assumed to have insufficient resolution to determine variations of the rotational speed over an engine revolution. However, variations of the rotational speed of the engine also cause vibrations of the engine chassis. A vibration sensor can be used to pick up the vibration signal with high temporal resolution. As the transfer function between the variation of the rotational speed and the sensor readings is only approximately known, a sensor fusion concept for the rotational speed sensor and the acceleration sensor has to be applied, which combines the different measurements, while simultaneously estimating the unknown transfer function. We will use an extended Kalman filter for the data fusion and an autoregressive-model for the unknown transfer function.</div></div>

Advertising is the mirror that reflects social and cultural trends and is capable of shaping society (Sivulka, 2012). We are influenced subtly by the meanings advertisers create in advertisements; in turn, our lifestyles and value priorities can affect the strategies of advertising design and branding. However, this mirror is distorted since advertising reflects only selected attitudes, values, lifestyles, and philosophies that work for sellers’ interests (Pollay, 1987). This paper examined the advertisements launched in nine of the most popular lifestyle magazines in China, to identify the frequently used values manifested in advertising, and its influences on the lifestyles of Chinese consumers. Two key theories are adopted in the value and advertising study: Hofstede’s five dimensions of national culture (1984) and Schwartz’s theory of basic values (1992). 525 print advertisements were selected. The advertising appeals were coded to identify the values that appeared most frequently in the advertisements. Pollay’s measurement of values manifest in advertising (1983) is used as the basic measurement guide. The value theme categories selected for content analysis were based on Schwartz’s value system. 12 values are finally adopted in the coding process: Family, Kinship affection, Accomplishment, Enjoyment, Social status, Love, Sense of belonging, Social responsibility, Utility, Self-fulfillment, Economic value, Authority power. After content analysis, we found that “utility,” “enjoyment,” “social status,” “accomplishment,” and “authority power” are the top five most frequently used values in advertisements targeting the Chinese middle and elite classes. This finding suggests that advertisements in China still play an important role in delivering utility information in product functions and effectiveness. Enjoyment is the second most frequently used value in these advertisements. Enjoyment is considered a typical western value (Cheng, 1997), which was forbidden in Confucian tradition. In Confucian tradition, enjoyment is discouraged. Working hard and not spending more than necessary are considered virtues (Hofstede and Bond, 1988). Nowadays, enjoyment is legitimated by mass media, western movies, and advertisements. Pursuing good quality life and enjoying it is considered a reward for hard work. The value of social status is the third frequently used value theme in magazine advertisements. As elite magazines are targeting the Chinese middle class, their audiences are readers who desire to move upward to a higher social status. These people are likely to have status consumption. They want to express their social status through consumer goods. The status meanings of consumer goods are usually delivered via advertisements using “social status” value. The frequent use of social status value in advertisements shows the strong need of Chinese consumers for social status. When values of consumers are consistent with the values reflected in advertising, the likeability toward advertisements, products, and brands will increase, and consequently, advertising will be more effective (Polegato and Bjerke, 2006). This study examines value and lifestyle issues from the perspective of advertising in emerging markets. The mediating role of advertising enables us to better understand the formation of and changes in the values and lifestyles of the new middle class in emerging markets, such as China. The findings of this study can also contribute to advertisers and designers by enabling them to understand the value themes in advertisements that attract them the most.

The purpose of this presentation is to show elements associated to the study and analysis of pedagogical practices used by mathematics teachers, taking into consideration different approaches and conceptions derived from theories related to the role of the math teacher. The project highlights the need to use different strategies to analyze the processes occurring in the activities and tasks organized and implemented by the teacher. One of the main tasks in teacher training is to promote the capacity to noticing on the pedagogical activity, where noticing is understood as an inherent process to improve the quality of classroom management. In addition, different analysis models should be compared using examples and experiential practices and the different theories and research projects developed in this field related to this type of analysis. Knowing what happens in the classroom is a task inherent to the math teacher. For sure, if the teacher does not understand or is even able to perceive what is happening in the class, improvement actions are very difficult to implement. Consequently, math teachers must develop the capability of analyzing their pedagogical activity and the related elements. It is not about isolating variables and looking for causal relationships, but rather about understanding the teacher’s activity as the center of the multiple situations occurring in the classroom, which may be known more in depth, if the attention is focused on the organization, ordering, and execution of the tasks planned by the teacher. It must also be understood that the competence of analyzing mentioned here is not an isolated activity without an effect. Such analysis must be approached from an active perspective where scenarios are generated to mitigate complex situations or to value an approach different than the one happening in the classroom. Being aware that there are many aspects to analyze (most likely almost everything that happens is analyzable), we must take a stand on which situations are highly related to what happens in our classroom and which could eventually happen. With such a wide spectrum, some questions that need to be addressed are: What is important in the math education activity and who defines what is important? What elements are of interest to math teachers? How does the analysis conducted relate to the different models of the teacher's knowledge? How does our previous experience influence the assessments we make? How do we distinguish elements of interest to analysis? What is the relationship between reflecting and analyzing? At what stages of the teacher’s activity is an analysis required? What is the ultimate purpose of analyzing teaching activities? What competencies or skills are related to the analysis? What types of analysis are appropriate (content, cognitive, media, among others)? How can we balance the actions derived from the analyses we conduct? From all these questions the most important one that can guide the study of this reflection would be: What should be assessed in pedagogical activities and what is the objective of analyzing such pedagogical activities in math education?

Blended Learning courses combine face-to-face (traditional) and online learning. This method of learning is for students who do not want to miss out on the traditional classroom experience, but want the flexibility essential with online learning. All blended courses will meet the first day of class and at least three other face-to-face meetings. Textile chemistry can generally be divided into three major areas: dyeing and finishing chemistry, fiber and polymer chemistry, and a newer area that intersects with materials science and involves the blending of textile materials. Online e-learning has also undergone a revolution wherein virtually all universities have provided courses that can be taken asynchronously, anywhere and at anytime. Tools and technologies have rapidly evolved to transform the conventional sequential unidirectional methods into collaborative omni directional learning environments. Piaget's theory of cognitive development stated that "the learner must be active; he is not a vessel to be filled with facts. Learning involves the participation of the learner". eBooks and new collaborative learning software allows us to create materials and an environment that allow students to explore and independently navigate tendrils of interconnecting concepts that will empower and enhance their construction of a more cohesive understanding of interconnected facets of a discipline. Students are rarely prompted to construct explanations of scientific phenomena for themselves. In many undergraduate courses, students spend a great deal of time either passively listening to lecturers' explanations or reading explanations from textbooks. Moreover, textbook explanations are often presented succinctly and in rapid succession, as if the material is straightforward and requires nothing more than memorization. Classroom activities that facilitate students generating their own explanations (i.e., developing and deploying explanatory knowledge) can therefore be powerful conceptual teaching and learning tools. Active learning strategies such as cooperative learning groups, guided inquiry, and peer-led team learning demonstrate progress toward student production of explanations in the undergraduate chemistry classroom. This paper presents the design principles and implementation of interactive training modules from chemical textile engineering curricula performed on " http://www.moodle.tex.tuiasi.ro/" elearning platform. Modules can be used also in traditional didactic activity: course lectures, laboratory, seminar and / or design classes. Interactive simulations allow learning of: knowledge, skills and abilities, necessary to engineering students in their future professional activity. Elearning modules aimed mainly effective interaction between student and content. Interactive graphical interface helps the student to understand quickly and accurately the issues of the course content and enables simulation of real industrial processes.
