Résumé :
Trentepohliales is an aerial order of Chlorophyta with approximately 80 species distributed mainly in tropical and subtropical regions. The taxonomy of this genus is quite difficult and presents a challenge for many phycologists. Although plentiful molecular data is available, most of the sequences are not identified at the species level. In the present study, we described a new specimen with detailed morphological data and identified it as Trentepohlia odorata. A phylogenetic analysis showed T. odorata as a novel lineage in Trentepohliales. T. odorata has the closest relationship with T. annu

The order Trentepohliales is a widespread group of terrestrial green algae. As currently circumscribed, it includes six genera (Cephaleuros, Phycopeltis, Physolinum, Printzina, Stomatochroon and Trentepohlia), the phylogenetic affinities of which are poorly understood. Sequences for the small subunit rRNA gene (18S rDNA) were obtained for several representatives of the order and phylogenetic analyses based on these sequences were compared with the traditional system of classification based on morphological characters. Abstract Algae infection on oil palm leaves has been observed fairly widespread in many oil palm estates in various regions in Indonesia, including Riau, Belitung, and Palembang. Based on field census, algae can be found on young to old palms and were generally more common on the lower (older) fronds. Algae infection appeared as opaque reddish-orange spots atop the leaf surface. Since algae cover the leaf surface, it may cause a decrease in the photosynthesis activities of the affected leaves. Cephaleuros is often known as an algal pathogen with 19 taxonomically valid species, some of which are responsible for red rust and algal spot diseases in vascular plants. No chloroplast genomes have yet been reported in this genus, and the limited genetic information is an obstacle to understanding the evolution of this genus. In this study, we sequenced six new Trentepohliales chloroplast genomes, including four Cephaleuros and two Trentepohlia. The chloroplast genomes of Trentepohliales are large compared to most green algae, ranging from 216 to 408 kbp. They encode between 93 and 98 genes
