Résumé :
The propensity of WTO always ensure to strengthening and consolidating the integration approach with country to country. Manifold accession like TRIMS, TRIPS and trade liberalization agenda facilitate to enlarge the attractiveness of foreign direct investment in many more developing countries. This study is concentrates on judgment of the WTO accession like liberalization, TRIMS and TRIPS stimulate the flow of FDI in developing countries and also to observe that the other relevant important variables such as macroeconomic stability, infrastructure, human capital, geographic location, financial development, agglomeration, market size has helped the incessant inflow of FDI for developing country. Some research penetratingly interpreted that TRIMS, TRIPS and trade liberalization accession are controversial subject matter for the developing countries. For accomplishing the research work the paper has used panel data of 58 different developing countries over the years 1990-2014. Through that work the paper has explore that because of the adopting liberalization polices, relinquishing market distortions with the connection of TRIMS and harmonization of IPR standards throughout TRIPS escalate the foreign direct investment in the developing countries, it means that there is a significant relationship of FDI along with TRIPS, TRIMs and trade openness. Other pertinent factors like market size, macroeconomic stability, agglomeration and engagement of WTO membership have also significant impact on FDI inflows. Others common factors like infrastructure, human capital, financial development, geographical location also make significant impact on facilitating foreign direct investment. Developing countries always requires strengthening their superiority and protecting rights and ensuring negotiation process and encouraging market liberalization process for accomplishing economic competitiveness.

Résumé :
Rotational outbred adult rats, phenotypically selected to prefer drinking alcohol ("P" rats) frequently present with selfinflicted wounds and ulcerative dermatitis, similar to that seen in C57BL/6 mice. Historically, veterinary interventions used to address this clinical condition have included triple antibiotic ointment (TABO), Columbia wound powder (CPW), nail trims, or plastic tubes that allow affected animals to hide. More recent studies have suggested that nail trims are the most successful intervention in mice, but this has not been evaluated previously in rats. In this study, we evaluated nail trims in rats and also tested whether placing a pumice stone in the cage would reduce the need for nail trims to reduce self-inflicted wounds. Our hypothesis was that interacting with the pumice stone would dull/trim the rats' nails without causing stress or illness and allow the wounds time to heal. We used 66 P rats that were assigned to 1 of 6 treatment groups (pumice stone, TABO, CWP, huts, nail trims, and an untreated control group) of 11 rats each. Rats were transferred to this study from a colony of experimentally naïve animals that had evidence of dermatitis. The wounds were photographed and measured for 12 wk at 2 wk intervals. At the end of the study, representative skin samples from the site of the wound were collected for histopathologic evaluation of inflammation. Our data showed no significant differences in the inflammation scores. The rats treated with nail trims healed significantly more often than did all of the other treatment groups. This suggests that nail trims are the most effective intervention for treating self-inflicted wounds in P rats.

Résumé :
Abstract The Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs) Agreement aims to balance the interests of developed countries seeking to protect their investments as well as developing countries trying to attract more foreign investments to finance national projects. This article assesses the TRIMs Agreement and the compatibility of Egyptian economic legislation, especially the provisions of the Investment Law No. 72/2017, alongside the impact of this agreement on the Egyptian economy. We conclude that Egyptian legislation as a whole is in line with the TRIMs Agreement, with the exception of some provisions enacted under exceptional circumstances in Egypt since January 2011. As a result of these circumstances, it is impossible accurately to assess the extent to which the Egyptian economy was affected by the implementation of TRIMs during the current period, since the policies adopted by the Government of Egypt have succeeded in increasing the volume of foreign direct investment to Egypt.

Résumé :
Trade-related investment measures (TRIMs) have been a key issue in regional and multilateral trade negotiations, but they have received little attention in theoretical work to date. This article analyzes the political economy of TRIMs to illuminate why regional arrangements have been a popular framework for eliminating them. The main argument is that multinational firms often demand safeguards when TRIMs are being liberalized, particularly if they have large sunk costs due to asset specificity. In general, regional arrangements are better equipped than multilateral rules to incorporate the safeguards these firms demand: regionalism requires governments to make binding commitments, and it creates opportunities to discriminate against outsiders. A case study of lobbying by U.S. companies with FDI in Canada from the early twentieth century to the negotiation of the Canada-United States Free Trade Agreement illustrates these points. The article concludes that regional arrangements are likely to remain more active, and more successful, than multilateral discussions in managing the commitment problems inherent in liberalizing TRIMs.

Résumé :
While sailing, VLCC is affected by a very large resistance, and consumes a large amount of fuel. How to reduce the fuel consumption has become a hot issue of research. In navigation, VLCCs attitude has an obvious influence on resistance. Due to the complexity and irregularity of the shape of VLCCs underwater part, it is difficult to use formula to calculate and forecast how the navigation attitude influences the resistance. Seeking for a fast and accurate method to study the influence of VLCCs navigation attitude on resistance is very significance. CFD method was used in this work to find the difference of resistance when the trims were different. A full-scale 3D model of a VLCC was made, and computational domains of flow field were defined according to different trims. Hexahedral meshes of the computational domains were made and boundaries were defined. By numerical simulation with FLUENT, resistances were calculated in different trims, when the VLCC was full loaded and ballast loaded. The best trims were found when the resistances were least under different loading conditions. It is the best navigation attitude to save fuel.

Résumé :
The article assesses a significance of the most important component of the agreement on accession to the WTO, namely the agreement on trade-related investment measures (TRIMs), in increasing the attractiveness of developing countries to investors from abroad. In addition, traditional determinants of FDI placement, such as the macroeconomic stability, trade openness, and economic development, are considered. The authors carry out an analysis in the field of regulation of TRIMs by the example of economic policies in developing countries. The study shows that the extent to which TRIMs contributed to achieving the goals varied significantly, reflecting the specific economic and political conditions of the country using them. In some cases, they played a role in encouraging foreign companies to make more use of local sources or increase their exports from the host country. In other cases, the impact seemingly was negligible.

Résumé :
ABSTRACT The Trim5α protein from several primates restricts retroviruses in a capsid (CA)-dependent manner. In owl monkeys, the B30.2 domain of Trim5 has been replaced by cyclophilin A (CypA) following a retrotransposition. Restriction of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) by the resulting Trim5-CypA fusion protein depends on CA binding to CypA, suggesting both that the B30.2 domain might be involved in CA binding and that the tripartite RING motif, B-BOX, and coiled coil (RBCC) motif domain can function independently of the B30.2 domain in restriction. To investigate the potential of RBCCs from other Trims to participate in restricting HIV-1, CypA was fused to the RBCC of Trim1, Trim18, and Trim19 and tested for restriction. Despite low identity within the RBCC domain, all fusion proteins were found to restrict HIV-1 but not the nonbinding G89V mutant, indicating that the overall structure of RBCC and not its primary sequence was important for the restriction function. The critical interaction between CA and Trim-CypA appears to take place soon after viral entry. Quantitative PCR analysis of viral reverse transcriptase products revealed that the different fusion proteins block HIV-1 at two distinct stages of its life cycle, either prior to reverse transcription or just before integration. With Trim1 and Trim18, this timing is dependent on the length of the Trim component of the fusion protein. These observations suggest that restriction factor binding can have different mechanistic consequences.

Résumé :
Terminal-repeat retrotransposon in miniature (TRIM) elements are a miniature form of retrotransposons and play an important role in genome organization. The Cassandra TRIM family has been identified in over 50 plant species, including both monocots and dicots. Cassandra elements carry an independently transcribed 5S RNA sequence in their terminal repeat regions, which is unique compared with other TRIM families. Although the existence of Cassandra elements has been documented in many plants, much work remains to characterize Cassandra family members and elucidate their distribution. In this study, we comparatively analysed the Cassandra family members in the Brassica oleracea, B. rapa and Arabidopsis thaliana genomes. A total of 602, 451 and 173 members, of which 130, 60 and 9 were relatively intact, were identified from the B. oleracea, B. rapa and A. thaliana genomes, respectively. Most of the Cassandra elements (1120/1226) were found in intergenic spaces, but 106 elements were inserted in genic regions such as introns, exons and untranslated regions. Our comparative analysis of the Cassandra family members in A. thaliana, B. rapa and B. oleracea reveals that some Cassandra elements have been commonly retained during the last 20 million years in three species and some elements have been uniquely evolved in Brassica species. This study promotes our understanding of the role and utility of Cassandra elements in the evolution of the Brassicaceae family.

Résumé :
TRIM E3 ubiquitin ligases regulate multiple cellular processes, and their dysfunction is linked to disease. They are characterised by a conserved N-terminal tripartite motif comprising a RING, B-box domains, and a coiled-coil region, with C-terminal domains often mediating substrate recruitment. TRIM proteins are grouped into 11 classes based on C-terminal domain identity. Class VI TRIMs, TRIM24, TRIM33, and TRIM28, have been described as transcriptional regulators, a function linked to their C-terminal plant homeodomain and bromodomain, and independent of their ubiquitination activity. It is unclear whether E3 ligase activity is regulated in family members where the C-terminal domains function independently. Here, we provide a detailed biochemical characterisation of the RING domains of class VI TRIMs and describe the solution structure of the TRIM28 RING. Our study reveals a lack of activity of the isolated RING domains, which may be linked to the absence of self-association. We propose that class VI TRIMs exist in an inactive state and require additional regulatory events to stimulate E3 ligase activity, ensuring that associated chromatin-remodelling factors are not injudiciously degraded.
