Purpose – This study aims to identify user categories of mobile travel services and analyze the differences between the categories based on individual characteristics, the individuals' perceived barriers to use internet-/mobile services during a trip and the individuals' preferred channel strategies. Design/methodology/approach – An extensive online survey in Finland was conducted to collect the data and a cluster analysis is used to identify the user categories. Findings – The study indicates that there are four user categories of mobile travel services: “info-seekers”, “checkers”, “bookers”

The AMUC (Associated Motion capture User Categories) project consisted of building a prototype sketch retrieval client for exploring motion capture archives. High-dimensional datasets reflect the dynamic process of motion capture and comprise high-rate sampled data of a performer's joint angles; in response to multiple query criteria, these data can potentially yield different kinds of information. The AMUC prototype harnesses graphic input via an electronic tablet as a query mechanism, time and position signals obtained from the sketch being mapped to the properties of data streams stored in

Currently, little is known about how occupants interact with their heating systems, in particular how they use the heating within their home and the reasons behind why it is used a specific way. Background. Automated-entry consumer devices that collect and transmit patient-generated health data (PGHD) are being evaluated as potential tools to aid in the management of chronic diseases. The need exists to evaluate the evidence regarding consumer PGHD technologies, particularly for devices that have not gone through Food and Drug Administration evaluation. Purpose. To summarize the research related to automated-entry consumer health technologies that provide PGHD for the prevention or management of 11 chronic diseases. Methods. The project scope was determined through discussions with Ke

Résumé :
This report chronicles the work undertaken by researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign to identify policies and design guidelines to plan for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) in mid-sized regions in Illinois. The report starts with the goals of this work followed by a review of existing literature. The review addresses CAV technologies and scenario planning, including academic research articles, policies and guidance documents from federal and state agencies, and recent long-range transportation plans. The review findings are organized into three categories—drivers, l

Résumé :
Advancements in machine learning and natural language processing have made text classification increasingly attractive for information retrieval. However, developing text classifiers is challenging when no prior labeled data are available for a rare category of interest. Finding instances of the rare class using a uniform random sample can be inefficient and costly due to the rare category’s low base rate. This work presents an approach that combines the strengths of text classification and Boolean retrieval to help learn rare concepts of interest. As a motivating example, we use the task of f

Résumé :
The objectives of this research are to develop methods for performing ultrasonic flow meter (USM) diagnostic evaluation automatically and a software tool with all necessary attachments. USM-based diagnostics have been established and thirteen categories of knowledge rules of existing cases have been learned and integrated. A search engine for relevant standards, specifications, and other documents of the measurement system has been developed, which enables the free search of text content. Further, with the assistance of modern reasoning techniques, the authorized user only needs to configure a

Guidance to use when defining and identifying leak cause categories along with associated sub-categories for gas distribution operators. Data integrity is often compromised when there is no standard in defining leak categories and leak sub-categories. Because of this, many operators face challenges with consistency when comparing potential threats and risks from different locations to determine where additional programs or measures are necessary to help reduce risk. Additionally, standardization around defining leak cause codes for field personnel is becoming an area of increased focus for sta

Résumé :
An application was submitted to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Food Standards Scotland (FSS) in February 2021 from Cannaray Brands Ltd (“the applicant”) for the authorisation of cannabidiol (CBD) isolate as a novel food. The novel food is a >98% pure form CBD isolate which is intended to be used as a food ingredient in food supplements, beverages, and confectionary for adults. For CBD a provisional Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of 10 mg/day has been published by the FSA and was considered in assessing this novel food. The provisional ADI (section 2.7) was recommended, subject to the ex

Résumé :
The grip strength test is one of the most commonly applied tests in animal laboratories to measure neuromuscular functions or disorders. It was first developed in the 1970s. Today a wide range of techniques are available to study muscle strength in rodents. These methods are categorized into two categories:[2] Invasive method: In situ and in vitro measurements of muscle force are invasive methods. Non-invasive method: This method only includes in vivo measurement tests to analyze muscle force such as treadmill tests, wire hang tests, swimming endurance, vertical pole test, and grip strength te
