This is a retrospective analysis of 120 patients with pathologically stage IIIA and IIIB Hodgkin's disease treated from April 1969 to December 1982. The median follow-up was 108 months. Treatment consisted of radiation therapy (RT) alone in 54 patients and combined radiation therapy and MOPP (nitrogen mustard, vincristine, procarbazine, prednisone) chemotherapy (CMT) in 66 patients. Stage III patients treated with CMT have an improved actuarial 12-year survival as compared with patients treated with RT alone with MOPP reserved for relapse (80% v 64%; P = .026). The 12-year actuarial freedom from first relapse by treatment for stage III patients is 83% and 40%, respectively (P less than .0001). Improved survivals following combined modality therapy are seen for the following subgroups of stage III patients: stage III2, 66% (CMT) v 44% (total nodal irradiation; TNI), P = .04; stage III1, 97% (CMT) v 73% (TNI), P = .05; stage III mixed cellularity or lymphocyte depletion histology, 94% (CMT) v 65% (TNI), P = .007; and stage III extensive splenic involvement, 77% (CMT) v 58% (TNI), P = .02. These survival differences are not seen in patients with nodular sclerosis or lymphocyte predominance histology or in patients with minimal splenic involvement. These data indicate that the initial use of CMT in stage III Hodgkin's disease results in an improved survival as compared with initial treatment with RT with MOPP reserved for relapse. Patients with limited Stage IIIA disease may still be candidates for radiation therapy alone.

Purpose The treatment of early-stage Hodgkin's disease (HD) has evolved from radiotherapy alone (RT) to combined-modality therapy (CMT) because of concerns about late adverse effects from high-dose subtotal nodal irradiation (STNI). However, there is little information regarding the long-term results of CMT programs that substantially reduce the dose and extent of radiation. In addition, lowering the total radiation dose may reduce the complication rate without compromising cure. This retrospective study compares the long-term results of STNI with CMT using modestly reduced RT dose in the treatment of early-stage HD. Patients and Methods Between 1982 and 2002, 111 patients with stage IA and IIA HD were treated definitively with RT (mean dose, 37.9 Gy); 70 patients were treated with CMT with low-dose involved-field radiotherapy (LDIFRT; mean dose, 25.5 Gy). Median follow-up was 11.7 years for RT patients and 8.1 years for the CMT group. Results There was a trend toward improved 20-year overall survival with CMT (83% v 70%; P = .405). No second cancers were observed in the CMT group; in the RT group the actuarial frequency of a second cancer was 16% at 20 years. There was no difference in the frequency of cardiac complications (9% v 6%, RT v CMT). Conclusion In this retrospective review, CMT with LDIFRT was effective in curing early-stage HD and was not associated with an increase in second malignancies. For RT alone, a moderate dose seemed to reduce cardiac complications but did not lessen second malignancies compared with higher doses used historically.

Abstract The ABVD protocol is probably the most effective chemotherapy (CTX) regimen for the treatment of Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL), however the dose and volume, and indeed the need for radiation therapy (XRT) in combination remains uncertain. Pediatric patients (0–14 years) at our institution have been treated with ABVD either with or without XRT, based on the treating physician’s decision. Patients receiving XRT were usually given one or two cycles less of CTX than those without. Since 1998 we have used 1500cGy as the dose of XRT, however the field was determined by the radiation oncologist. Between 1990 and 2003, 152 patients were treated according to the ABVD protocol. Of these, 64 were treated with CTX alone, while 88 also received radiation as consolidation therapy (Combined modality therapy; CMT). Of those who received XRT 63 were administered a dose of 1500cGy. The remaining 25 received various higher doses (1655cGy: 1, 2400cGy: 9, 2500cGy: 10, 3500cGy: 3, 3680cGy: 1, 3980cGy:1). Patients who were treated with CMT were older (mean age 9.2 v. 7.4 years; p<0.05), had less B-symptoms (10.2% v. 26.6%; p<0.05), but not more bulky disease (43.2% v. 34.4%; p=0.2). CTX group had more patients with stage III and IV disease, while CMT group had more stage II disease (p<0.05). With a median follow-up of 4 years, the actuarial overall survival (OS) and event free survival (EFS) at 5 years for all the patients is 97.3% and 88.0%, respectively. The OS and EFS for the patients treated with CTX and CMT were 95.3% v. 98.8% (p=0.4) and 85.1% v. 90.2% (p=0.3), respectively. We next looked at the patients who received only 1500cGy of radiation therapy. Of the 63 patients, 29 received extended field radiation (EFXRT) and 34 involved field radiation (IFXRT). Patients who received radiation were administered a median of two cycles of ABVD less than those who did not (median 4 v. 6 cycles; mean 4.3 v. 5.1, p<0.05). OS at 5 years for the patients treated by CTX v. CMT/EFXRT v. CMT/IFXRT is 95.3%, 96.6% and 100%, respectively (p=0.3). The EFS for the same groups is 85.1%, 86.2% and 90.1% (p=0.4). Conclusion: Pediatric patients with HL can be treated successfully with minimal or no XRT. These results need to be confirmed in a prospective clinical trial.

PURPOSE Patients with laparotomy-staged (PS) III 1A Hodgkin's disease confined to the upper abdomen are believed to have a favorable prognosis and require less aggressive treatment than patients with more-extensive stage III disease. We evaluated prognostic factors and outcome in 93 patients with PS III 1A Hodgkin's disease treated either with radiation therapy (RT) alone or combined RT and chemotherapy (combined modality treatment [CMT]) to determine the extent of treatment needed in this subgroup of stage IIIA patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the freedom from relapse (FFR) rate, sites of recurrence, and survival rate of PS III 1A patients selected to receive extended-field irradiation (MPA, n = 27), total-nodal irradiation (TNI, n = 34), and CMT (n = 32) between 1969 and 1987. CMT consisted of six cycles of mechlorethamine, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone (MOPP) chemotherapy and MPA. Patients treated with MPA were part of a prospective trial designed to reduce treatment to patients with minimal stage III disease with very favorable characteristics. RESULTS Histologic subclass and treatment were the only prognostic factors for FFR and survival rates. Patients with nodular sclerosis or lymphocyte predominance histology had significantly higher FFR and survival rates compared to patients with mixed-cellularity (MC) histology. The 10-year actuarial FFR of PSIII 1A patients treated with MPA was only 39%, versus 55% for TNI (P = .02) and 94% for CMT (v MPA, P < .0001; v TNI, P = .006). The patterns of recurrence in patients who received MPA and TNI were significantly different, with MPA patients relapsing more often in untreated pelvic or inguinal nodes, and TNI patients relapsing more often in extranodal sites with or without nodal sites. The 10-year actuarial overall survival rate for patients treated with CMT was 89% versus 78% for MPA (v CMT, P = .09) and 70% for TNI (v CMT, P = .05). CONCLUSION Patients with PSIII 1A Hodgkin's disease treated with RT have a significantly higher risk of relapse and potentially a poorer survival compared with patients treated with CMT. These findings suggest that CMT should play a greater role in the treatment of this favorable substage of patients. Management with modified chemotherapy and RT in an attempt to reduce long-term treatment-induced complications may be a preferred approach for future trials.

Tumor biomarkers are developed to indicate tumor status, clinical outcome, or prognosis. Since currently there are no effective biomarkers for canine mammary tumor (CMT), this study intended to verify whether kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO), one of the key enzymes involved in tryptophan catabolism, is competent for predicting prognosis in patients with CMT. By investigating a series of 86 CMT clinical cases, we found that both gene and protein expression of KMO discriminated malignant from benign CMTs and was significantly higher in stage IV and V tumors than in lower-stage CMTs. About 73.7% of malignant CMTs showed strong expression of KMO which correlated with lower overall survival rates in patients. Further, downregulation of KMO activity significantly inhibited cell proliferation of CMT cells. Taken together, the findings indicated that KMO is a potential biomarker for tumor diagnosis, and this might open up new perspectives for clinical applications of CMT.

Interactions between neoplastic and immune cells taking place in tumors drive cancer regulatory mechanisms both in humans and animals. IFN-λ, a potent antiviral factor, is also secreted in the tumor; however, its role in tumor development is still unclear. In our study, we investigate the influence of IFN-λ on the canine mammary tumor (CMT) cell survival and their metastatic potential in vitro. First, we examined, by Western blot, the expression of the IFN-λ receptor complex in three CMT cell lines (P114, CMT-U27 and CMT-U309). We showed that only two cell lines (P114 and CMT-U27) express both (IL-28RA and IL-10Rb) receptor subunits and respond to IFN-λ treatment by STAT phosphorylation and the expression of interferon-stimulated genes. Using MTT, crystal violet and annexin-V assays, we showed a minimal role of IFN-λ in CMT viability. However, IFN-λ administration had a contradictory effect on cell migration in the scratch test, namely, it increased P114 and decreased CMT-U27 motility. Moreover, we demonstrated that this process is related to the expression of extracellular matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors; furthermore, it is independent of Akt and ERK signaling pathways. To conclude, we showed that IFN-λ activity is reliant on the expression of two receptor subunits and tumor type, but further investigations are needed.

PURPOSE To identify factors associated with radiation pneumonitis (RP) resulting from combined modality therapy (CMT) for lung cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS Series published before 1994 that used CMT for the treatment of lung cancer and explicitly reported the incidence of RP are the basis for this analysis. Factors evaluated included the radiation dose per fraction (Fx), total radiation dose, fractionation scheme (split v continuous), type of chemotherapy and intended dose-intensity, overall treatment time, histology (small-cell lung cancer [SCLC] v non-small-cell lung cancer [NSCLC]), and treatment schedule (concurrent v induction, sequential, or alternating CMT). RESULTS Twenty-four series, including 27 treatment groups and 1,911 assessable patients, met our criteria for inclusion in this analysis. The median total dose of radiation used in the trials analyzed was 50 Gy (range, 25 to 63 Gy). The median daily Fx used was 2.0 Gy (range, 1.5 to 4.0 Gy). Nineteen series included 22 treatment groups and 1,745 patients treated with single daily fractions. Among these patients, 136 received a daily Fx greater than 2.67 Gy. Five series used twice-daily radiotherapy and included 166 patients (Fx, 1.5 to 1.7 Gy). The incidence of RP was 7.8%. In a multivariate analysis, only daily Fx, number of daily fractions, and total dose were associated with the risk of RP (P < .0001, P < .018, and P < .003, respectively). CONCLUSION In this analysis, the use of Fx greater than 2.67 Gy was the most significant factor associated with an increased risk of RP. High total dose also appears to be associated with an increased risk, but twice-daily irradiation seems to reduce the risk expected if the same total daily dose is given as a single fraction. High-Fx radiotherapy should be avoided in patients who receive CMT with curative intent.

One of the serious vision threatened complications of cataract surgery is refractory PCME. That is why this complication has to be managed in time and adequately. Non steroidal and steroidal antiinflammatory and anti VEGF agents like bevazicumab are useful for refractory PCME. OCT has an important role in detecting PCME and measurement of central macular thickness to control the treatment of PCME. In this case study patient after rutin uncomplicated FACO surgery with refractory PCME at postop 4-th week is described. Despite of using of topical NSAID+steroidal antiinflammatory treatment there was no improvement in decreased vision and CMT was remained stable increased (811 mmk). Vision was increased only after 2 week of i/v bevazicumab injection, macular edema resolved and CMT decreased (280 mmk) which was revealed by OCT. In conclusion, OCT quided i/v bevacizumab is safe and well tolerated treatment option for refractory PCME.

This study aimed to investigate the pro-apoptotic effects of NSAID (Previcox®) in vitro and in vivo. Two CMT cell lines, one from the primary tumor and one from bone metastasis, were treated with firocoxib and MTT assay was performed to determine the half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value. The firocoxib IC50 for the cell lines UNESP-CM5 and UNESP-MM1 were 25.21 µM and 27.41 µM, respectively. The cell lines were then treated with the respective firocoxib IC50 concentrations and annexin V/propidium iodide (PI) assay was performed, to detect the induction of apoptosis in both cells (Annexin+/PI+). We conducted an in vivo study involving female dogs affected by CMT and divided them into control and treatment groups. For both groups, a biopsy was performed on day 0 (D0) and a mastectomy was performed on day 14 (D14). In the treatment group, after biopsy on D0, the patients received Previcox® 5 mg/kg PO once a day until mastectomy was performed on D14. COX-2/caspase-3 double immunostaining was performed on samples from D0 and D14, revealing no difference in the control group. In contrast, in the treatment group Previcox® increased the number of COX-2 positive apoptotic cells. Therefore, firocoxib can induce apoptosis in CMT cells in vitro and in vivo, and Previcox® can be a potential neoadjuvant treatment for patients with mammary cancer.

AbstractThe current study focuses on understanding the behaviour of flare v‐groove welds on back‐to‐back connected Cold‐Formed Steel welded sections (G300) subjected to longitudinal shear. A novel welding technique called Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) welding was used for fabrication with copper‐coated steel welding wire as a filler metal (ER70S‐6). This mode of welding has the advantage of controlled material deposition compared to the spray or globular mode of welding. Lap shear tests were carried out on unlipped channels including thickness of the weld, and length of the weld. The weld geometry was observed under an optical microscope after polishing and chemical etching of the weld cross‐section, as American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) design standard provides no specification on thickness of flare v‐groove welds for CMT welding process. In general, the lap shear specimens failed in plate tearing failure mode and brittle fracture of weld at the weld contours. Additionally, the appropriateness of AISI's shear design strength equations for flare v‐groove welds was verified and preliminary design guidelines are provided addressing the lacunae in AISI design standard.

In presented diploma thesis is studied problematics of welding of high strength steels. This work also describes arc welding in protective atmosphere CMT Advanced. In experimental part of this work is CMT Advanced method compared with conventional arc welding in protective atmosphere in shortcut mode used for welding of Hardox 450 and Weldox 700 E. Comparing of mechanical properties of weld material are realized via transverse tensile testing and measuring of microhardness. Macrostructure and microstructure of weld was evaluated too. In the last part of this thesis is a brief economical assessment of both studied methods.

This research work focuses on a comparative study on weld bead geometries of three
different welding techniques: Cold Metal Transfer (CMT), Metal Inert Gas Pulse Synergic
(MIG P) and MIG Manual Standard (MIG M). Bead-on-plate tests were performed using
ER4043 (AlSi5%) as a filler material on the 3.18 mm thick plates of AA6061-T6. Current
(80 A, 100 A and 120 A) and welding speed (7.5, 10.5 and 13.5 mm/sec) were used as
input process parameters while shielding gas flow rate and contact tip to workpiece
distance (CTWD) were maintained constant as 15 l/min and 10mm respectively. The weld
beads processed by all the three techniques are compared by analysing the weld bead
geometry. Microstructural characterization is carried out using optical microscopy and
Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). CMT has high dilution and
penetration with low heat input. Compared to MIG P and MIG M, CMT shows a drastic
reduction in residual stresses. Multi-response mathematical model is established for
prediction of weld bead geometry in CMT, MIG P and MIG M welding of AA6061-T6
using ER4043 (AlSi5%) as a filler material. Central composite face-centered design
(CCFCD) under response surface methodology (RSM) is employed to develop the design
matrix for conducting the experiments. The developed model is employed in finding the
optimal process parameters for good weld bead aesthetics. Current (I) and welding speed
(S) are opted as input process parameters for response output such as penetration, dilution
and heat input. This model is proficient to forecast the main effects and interactive effects
of two factor of the opted welding process parameters. Results show that higher current
values with low welding speed results in deeper penetration, high amount of dilution with
higher heat input and vice versa. With lower heat input, CMT has high dilution and
penetration with respect to MIG P and MIG M welding. The optimal process parameters
are 92.518A and 7.50mm/sec for CMT, 109.418A and 10.873mm/sec for MIG P,
110.847A and 11.527mm/sec for MIG M with 61.11%, 68.80% and 72.6% desirability,
respectively. Predicted output values generated from regression model equation obtained
from welding process parameters are very close and sometimes overlaid on actual output
that obviously demonstrates the suitability of the second order regression equations. A

good amount of penetration and dilution with low heat input is required for better joint
efficiency.
The requirements projected by many industries for stronger, lighter, more efficient
and cost-effective combined alloys in the welding of two dissimilar materials or dissimilar
thickness. The current industry trend is the coalescence of various aluminium alloys of
varying thicknesses. CMT welding process was used for joining of AA6061-T6 and
AA6082-T6 using ER4043 filler wire and inspected the effect of different process
parameters on mechanical properties of welded butt joints. Current (I), welding speed or
travel speed (TS) and gas flow rate (Q) are the input welding process parameters that are
to be optimized. Different heat input is studied w.r.t welding speed, current and gas flow
rate. Heat inputs ranging from 100+, 200+ and 300+ J/mm is achieved at constant welding
speed of 9, 7 and 5 mm/sec respectively at variable currents and flow rates. Bead geometry
variables such as penetration (P), reinforcement (R) and contact angle (CA) are
distinguished at different heat inputs. Mechanical properties such as tensile test and
microhardness for different heat input were investigated. Microstructural characterization
of base metal (BM), fusion line (FL) and weld metal (WM) is carried out. High-Resolution
X-ray Diffraction (HR-XRD) technique based on cosα method is used for residual stress
measurements at different heat inputs. Tensile fractured surfaces were examined by
FESEM and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Butt joints of various different
process parameters were fabricated with the help of full factorial CCFCD under RSM to
optimize the tensile properties, microhardness and residual stresses. Grey relation analysis
(GRA) with Principal component analysis (PCA) is incorporated with CCFCD for finding
out the optimal process parameter by considering multi-response parameters
simultaneously. ANOVA was executed to interpret the impact of process parameters on
the mechanical properties of the weldments. Results showed that the most dominant
process parameter was found to be the welding speed. The optimal process parameter
obtained via GRA-PCA technique is I3-TS1-Q1 (I - 100 A, TS - 5 mm/sec and Q - 14
L/min having heat input 352 J/mm) which produces 226 MPa of ultimate tensile strength,
12.6 % of elongation, 68.7 HV of microhardness and -152.3 MPa of compressive residual

stress. Desirability of optimality level obtained through CCFCD was 65.99 % and
significantly improved to 97.07 % through GRA-PCA.
Nowadays, to enhance the structural efficiency, ultrasonic vibrations are combined
with other manufacturing processes such as welding. It gives considerable advantages in
terms of improved mechanical properties, adequate surface strength, improved material
flow and uniform grain growth etc. Ultrasonic assisted cold metal transfer (U-CMT)
welding is performed to fabricate the joints and improvements in mechanical properties
and microstructural modifications are studied. Non-destructive technique (NDT) such as
radiography technique (RT) is used to test weld consistency. Results revealed improved
weld bead geometry with the aid of ultrasonic vibrations for the same welding parameters.
The tensile strength and micro-hardness are enhanced. Samples with ultrasonic vibration
experiences grain refining as compared to without vibration samples. As compared with
CMT, U-CMT joints are rich in Al-Si eutectic structure. Al-Si structure is in globular form
with reduced porosity level.

In the question of semantic support in CMS Drupal we developed a tool for extending its support of semantic formats. This tool allows CMS Drupal to export its information in a Topic Maps format. For this it uses the XTM file.

Aim of this diploma thesis is to map semantic features of CMS Drupal version 7. The goal of the first part of this work is to theoretically describe semantic web problematic and CMS Drupal. The second -- practical part of this work maps in details all the features of semantic web, which are supported by described CMS Drupal. These semantic features are mapped in two different points of views -- implementation and functional. Main contribution of this work is the method used to map these features. It's based on Drupal plugins code modification and revision in order to draw or demonstrate these features, which are not necessarily completely documented or functional. Furthermore all of these features are demonstrated on examples created as a part of this thesis. Finally the last part of this work compares these mapped features to similar CMS systems.

The first part of this thesis is devoted to the General Convention of CMR, CMR consignment note, obligatory data which are necessary to write in and to the parties acting on the transport market. The second part will focus on the carrier's liability as same as liability of other parties, insurance carrier's liability for loss, damage or destruction of the consignment, lapse, complaint and insurance. This issue will be demonstrated and will discuss with the court decisions. The next section will be described and analyzed electronic CMR. This section tries to evaluate the positives and negatives of its use in practice and its future. In particular, this part will be engaged in research which has implemented among members by the International Road Transport Union.

In the data mining process, it is necessary to prepare the source dataset - for example, to select the cutting or grouping of continuous data attributes etc. and use the knowledge from the problem area. Such a preparation process can be guided by background (domain) knowledge obtained from experts. In the SEWEBAR project, we collect the knowledge from experts in a rich XML-based representation language, called BKEF, using a dedicated editor, and save into the database of our custom-tailored (Joomla!-based) CMS system. Data mining tools are then able to generate, from this dataset, mining models represented in the standardized PMML format. It is then necessary to map a particular column (attribute) from the dataset (in PMML) to a relevant 'metaattribute' of the BKEF representation. This specific type of schema mapping problem is addressed in my thesis in terms of algorithms for automatic suggestion of mapping of columns to metaattributes and from values of these columns to BKEF 'metafields'. Manual corrections of this mapping by the user are also supported. The implementation is based on the PHP language and then it was tested on datasets with information about courses taught in 5 universities in the U.S.A. from Illinois Semantic Integration Archive. On this datasets, the auto-mapping suggestion process archieved the precision about 70% and recall about 77% on unknown columns, but when mapping the previously user-mapped data (using implemented learning module), the recall is between 90% and 100%.

Nanoparticles (NPs) have unique electronic, optical and chemical properties due to the extreme small size. Engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) are intentionally produced for desired applications, with specific properties related to shape, size, surface properties and chemistry. Nano-sized silica (SiO2), alumina (Al2O3) and ceria (CeO2) are three important ENPs with large production and wide applications. One of the principal uses of these ENPs is in chemical and mechanical planarization (CMP), a key process applied to polish wafers when fabricating integrated circuits in semiconductor manufacturing, in which SiO2, Al2O3 and CeO2 NPs are used as abrasive particles in CMP slurries. CMP generates large amounts of waste effluents containing high levels of ENPs. Some ENPs have been proven to be able to cause toxicity to microorganisms and higher life forms, including humans. Therefore, there are concerns about the potential risks that ENPs may pose to the natural environment and human health. In addition, III-V materials like indium arsenide (InAs) and gallium arsenide (GaAs) are increasingly used in electronic and photovoltaic devices. Besides ENPs, the waste streams from III-V manufacturing also contain dissolved and particulate materials removed from III-V films during CMP. Arsenic is one of the most notorious contaminants that has been widely studied, while only very limited ecotoxicity information is available for gallium and indium. Finally, since ENPs have high surface area, it is very likely they will interact with the soluble species (such as arsenic ions) in CMP wastewater. Therefore, it is of great importance to understand whether the interactions between these materials could alter their fate and toxicity. The objective of this work is to investigate the potential environmental and health risks from the ENPs and III-V materials used in semiconductor manufacturing. To this end, the physical, chemical and toxicological characterization of ENPs used in CMP was performed (Chapter 3). Furthermore, the fate and transport of the most used ENP, SiO2, in porous media was studied (Chapter 4). In addition, acute toxicity of As(III), As(V), In(III) and Ga(III) species was evaluated using different bioassays (Chapter 5). Finally, the cytotoxicity of ENPs used in CMP slurries to human lung bronchial epithelial cells was evaluated using an impedance based real time cell analysis (RTCA) assay (Chapter 6). In Chapter 3, four model slurries containing ENPs including colloidal silica (c-SiO2), fumed silica (f-SiO2) cerium oxide (CeO2) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) were characterized for their physical, chemical and toxicological properties. Ecotoxicity of these slurries to the marine bacterium, Aliivibrio fischeri, was evaluated by measuring its bioluminescence activity as a function of the ENP concentration dosed. The results showed that f-SiO2 and CeO2 were not toxic at concentrations up to 700 and 1000 mg/L, respectively. On the other hand, c-SiO2 and Al2O3 were inhibitory only at very high concentrations (>600 mg/L). At about 1300 mg/L, c-SiO2 and Al2O3 led to 37.6% and 28.4% decrease of cell activity after 30 min exposure, respectively. The inhibitory effect from c-SiO2 was related to additives in the slurry. In summary, the results indicate that these slurries are not likely to cause acute toxicity at environmentally relevant concentrations. The potential risks from ENPs are dependent on their fate and transport in the environment. In Chapter 4, the transport and abatement of SiO2 NPs was studied through laboratory scale column experiments. Synthetic fluorescent core-shell SiO2 NPs (83 nm) were used to facilitate NP traceability. Three widely used filtering materials, i.e., sand, anthracite and granular activated carbon (GAC), were used as porous media. Sand showed very poor capacity for the filtration of SiO2 NPs due to its limited surface area and high concentration of negative surface charge. In addition, the stability and transport of SiO2 NP was strongly dependent on the ionic strength of the solution. High ionic strength led to NP agglomeration and facilitated SiO2 NP retention, while low ionic strength resulted in release of captured NPs from the sand bed. Compared to sand, anthracite and GAC showed higher efficiency for SiO2 NP capture. The superior capacity of GAC was primarily due to its porous structure and high surface area. A process model was developed to simulate NP capture in the packed bed columns and determine fundamental attraction parameters. This model provided an excellent fit to the experimental data. Taken together the results obtained indicate that GAC is an interesting material for SiO2 NPs filtration. With the increasing usage of III-V materials, there are concerns about the ecological threats posed by III-V ions released during semiconductor manufacturing and from disposal of decommissioned electronic devices. In Chapter 5, the acute toxicity of As(III), As(V), In(III) and Ga(III) species was evaluated using different bioassays, including three microbial assays, testing for methanogenic activity, O2 uptake and bioluminescence inhibition of marine bacterium A. fischeri. Acute toxicity to the freshwater crustacean Daphnia magna was also tested. The results showed that In(III) and Ga(III) were generally not toxic or only mildly toxic in all assays, while both As(III) and As(V) showed strong inhibitory effects on different microbial activities (methanogenic and bioluminescence). The toxicity of these ions was strongly dependent on the bioassay target. For In(III) and Ga(III), D. magna was the most sensitive organism with 50% lethal concentrations (LC50) of 57.4 and 237.0 mg/L, respectively. On the other hand, As(III) and As(V) were particularly toxic to methanogens. The 50% inhibitory concentrations (IC50) of both species were about 1.5mg/L. Mixed aerobic heterotrophic culture was highly resistant to all four ions and O2 uptake by the aerobes was not affected in the tested concentrations. Overall, the results indicate that the ecotoxicity of In(III) and Ga(III) is much lower than that of the As species. This finding is important in filling the knowledge gap regarding the ecotoxicology of In and Ga. Besides ecotoxicity, ENPs and III-V materials in CMP effluents could also pose a threat to human health. In Chapter 6, the cytotoxicity of CMP slurries to human bronchial epithelial cells (16HBE14o-) was assessed using a novel impedance based real time cell analyzer (RTCA). Cell death and detachment was observed in assays supplied with high concentrations of c-SiO2 and f-SiO2 NPs (≥250 mg/L). On the other hand, CeO2 and Al2O3 slurries were not inhibitory at concentrations up to 1250 mg/L. In addition, since CMP wastewater generated during the planarization of III-V films contains a mixture of ENPs and soluble III-V species, it is important to understand whether the interactions between these materials could alter their fate and toxicity. As(III) toxicity to human lung cells in the presence and absence of CeO2 NPs was evaluated using the RTCA assay. Exposure to As(III) (0.5 mg/L) for 48 h resulted in 81.3% inhibition of cell viability and proliferation, while cell inhibition decreased to only 13.0% when As(III) was dosed together with sub-toxic levels of CeO2 NPs (250 mg/L). This detoxification effect was mainly due to As(III) adsorption onto CeO2 NPs. When the NPs were added, the soluble arsenic concentration was reduced significantly from 0.5 mg/L to 0.03 mg/L. This work demonstrates that adsorption of As(III) on CeO2 NPs can lower As(III) concentration in the solution and reduce its bioavailability and subsequently result in As(III) detoxification. In conclusion, this dissertation indicates that the ENPs (SiO2, CeO2 and Al2O3) used in semiconductor industry are not expected to cause acute toxicity to the natural environment and human health under environmentally relevant concentration (<1 mg/L). Among the soluble III-V species, In(III) and Ga(III) showed no or mild acute inhibitory effects in different bioassays even at comparatively high concentration. However arsenic species are highly toxic to various important microbial populations in the environment and human cells. The results showed that arsenic could induce toxic effects under current discharge limit set for semiconductor industry. Finally, we demonstrated that the adsorption of As(III) on CeO2 NPs can lower the concentration of soluble As(III) and subsequently resulted in As(III) detoxification.

The classification of sleep disorders is essential both for correct diagnosis and for coding purposes. There are three major sleep disorder classifications in the USA: the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V), the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD-3), and the International Classification of Diseases Modified Version (ICD-10-CM). This chapter discusses these classifications and their differences. DSM-V and ICSD-3 are used mainly for diagnostic information, whereas ICD-10-CM is used for coding. Sleep disorders can be regarded as falling into three main groups: those that cause difficulty with nighttime sleep, those that cause daytime sleepiness, and those that cause abnormal behavior during the night. The disorders, such as insomnia disorder, narcolepsy, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, and the parasomnias, in these three groups are organized differently, depending upon the classification system. The most detailed diagnostic classification system is ICSD-3, whereas the DSM-V classification is a simplified version, predominantly for psychiatrists.

AbstractXanthomonas wilt (XW) of banana caused by Xanthomonas vasicola pv. musacearum (Xvm) is an important emerging and non-curable infectious disease which can cause up to 100% yield loss. At the start of the XW epidemic, complete uprooting of diseased mats (CMU) was recommended. There was little adoption of CMU, especially by women farmers, because it was labor-intensive and it sacrificed banana production for up to 2 years. CMU assumed that infection on a single plant would systemically spread to all plants in a mat. However, field experiments showed that Xvm did not spread systemically in a mat and that latent infections occurred. As a result, not all shoots on an infected plant show symptoms. This led to the idea of removing only the visibly infected banana plants, referred to as single diseased stem removal (SDSR). The SDSR package comprises three innovations: (1) regularly cutting symptomatic stems at ground level, (2) sterilizing cutting tools with fire, and (3) early male bud removal using a forked stick. The SDSR package was promoted jointly with a set of complementary practices: (i) avoiding infections by browsing animals, (ii) using clean planting materials, (iii) bending leaves at the petiole level when intercropping in infected fields, (iv) training on disease recognition and epidemiology, and (v) demand-specific extension and knowledge sharing. Several approaches that have been used for scaling out XW management technologies are documented in this chapter. This review looks at the process, practices, challenges, lessons learned, and future policy implications associated with scaling of XW management practices.

AbstractMetal halide perovskites have triggered a quantum leap in the photovoltaic technology marked by a humongous improvement in the device performance in a matter of just a few years. Despite their promising optoelectronic properties, their use in the photovoltaic sector remains restricted due to their inherent instability towards moisture. Here, we report a simple, cost-effective and highly efficient protection strategy that enables their use as photoelectrodes for photoelectrochemical hydrogen production while being immersed in water. A uniform coating of candle soot and silica is developed as an efficient hydrophobic coating that protects the perovskite from water while allowing the photogenerated electrons to reach the counter electrode. We achieve remarkable stability with photocurrent density above 1.5 mA cm−2 at 1 V versus saturated calomel electrode (SCE) for ~1 h under constant illumination. These results indicate an efficient route for the development of stable perovskite photoelectrodes for solar water splitting.

V1-xCrxN films were deposited via conventional magnetron sputtering (CMS) and plasma enhanced magnetron sputtering (PEMS) by controlling the power of Cr target and V target. The microstructure of films was characterized using scanning electron microscope, meanwhile, the thickness was measured. The chemical composition was analyzed by an energy dispersive spectrometer, and phase structure was analyzed by X-ray diffractometer. The hardness and Young’s modulus of films were evaluated using nano-indenter. With an increase in Cr content, the deposition rate increased gradually and then reduced in both V1-xCrxN films. As Cr content increased, CMS-V1-xCrxN films transformed from a mixture of FCC-V(Cr)N and FCC-VN with non-stoichiometric ratio to a mixture of FCC-V(Cr)N and BCC-Cr, and Cr content had no effect on the phase structure of PEMS-V1-xCrxN films, all of them shown FCC-V(Cr)N. In addition, the dominant texture in V1-xCrxN films deposited by CMS and PEMS were (111) and (200). As increasing Cr content, the density of the CMS-V1-xCrxN films increased gradually, moreover, all films were loose and porous. However, the Cr content had little effect on microstructure of PEMS-V1-xCrxN films, all of which shown dense columnar structure. With the increase of Cr content, the hardness and Young’s modulus of CMS-V1-xCrxN films increased gradually and then decreased, while which in PEMS-V1-xCrxN films were rise. The doping of Cr significantly improves the structure and mechanical properties of CMS-V1-xCrxN films. Furthermore, the structure of PEMS-V1-xCrxN films is much denser, and the mechanical properties of PEMS-V1-xCrxN films are significantly better than CMS-V1-xCrxN films.

Many pellets were prepared seperately from Dixon KS-2, HPN-2, 200-10, and Asbury Micro 260 graphite powders which were compressed between polished stainless steel rams at a pressure of 0.67 GPa for 30 min. The most specular reflective pellet surface thus formed from each of the four powders was then selected for further investigation. The mass/unit volume of the pellets was in the 2.02 ± 0.06-g/cm3 range compared with 2.23 g/cm3 for crystalline graphite. Near-normal incidence reflectance spectra R(v) of the four pellets were obtained throughout the 180-50,000-cm-1 wave-number region. Kramers-Kronig methods applied to R(v) provided complex refractive indices N(v)= n(v)+ ik(v) and dielectric functions ϵ(v) = ϵ1(v) + iϵ2(v). The E1 u in-plane and A2 u out-of-plane infrared active vibrational modes showed maxima in the k(v) spectra at 1584 and 864 cm-1, respectively. These modes were also quite evident in the first derivative of the reflectance spectra. Spectral values of R(v), N(v), and ϵ(v) are presented in graphical form. Differences and similarities to spectra for crystalline graphite are also presented.

We have measured the two-photon cross section for the Q1 branch of the EF(v = 6) ← X(v = 0) transition in H2, using techniques developed in this laboratory. The population of the excited EF level was determined using a calibrated fluorescence detection system to monitor B(v = 1) ← EF(v = 6) fluorescence at ~750 nm. Ions resulting from absorption of a third photon were collected on parallel wire electrodes and amplified with a calibrated charge-sensitive preamplifier. The temporal and spatial profiles of the laser pulses were characterized with a fast photodiode and a linear pyroelectric array, respectively. The 100-μm resolution of the pyroelectric array and the necessity to avoid saturation both dictate the use of a gently focused beam geometry. Our results (4.3×10−47 cm4/s−1 and 1.6 × 10−18 cm2) are in reasonable agreement with previous experiments and calculations, and we are currently working to upgrade our accuracy.

Abstract Chemical and mechanical stimuli are known to cause directed movement in a number of different cell types. Less prominently studied, direct current (DC) electric fields are known to induce a similar response. In this study, we report on DC electric field-induced chondrocyte migration and re-orientation. Galvanotaxis and galvanotropism, migration and shape change in response to applied DC electric fields, respectively, have been demonstrated in many cells. For instance, field strengths of 1–10 V/cm have been reported to induce migration in keratinocytes. corneal epithelial cells, bone cells, fibroblasts and neural cells [1,7,8,11]. Recently, we have demonstrated for the first time that chondrocytes exhibit a galvanotactic response, realigning and migrating in response to applied DC electric fields (6 V/cm) [6]. In cartilage, chondrocytes may see electric fields associated with streaming potentials estimated to be up to 15 V/cm with current densities of up to 0.1A/cm2 [2]. The aim of this study was to explore basic science aspects of directed cell migration under applied DC electric fields and to investigate the potential application of this phenomena for tissue engineering, healing and repair of cartilage. The ability to direct cell growth and function will have significant implications on the bioengineering of replacement tissues.

An experiment is in preparation(1) at the 2-mile Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) to study the scattering of 50 GeV electrons from a focussed short pulse of IR (λ = 1054) with peak intensity 1019 to 1020 W/cm2. The electric field seen by the electron in its own rest frame is E * = 2γELAB where γ is the ratio of the electron energy to its rest mass. For this experiment, where γ = 105 and if I = 1019 W/cm2, the ratio of E * to the critical field E c =m2c3/eħ = 1.32 × 1016 V/cm, reaches unity. At such field strengths multiphoton absorption is dominant and calculations must be carried out beyond simple perturbative QED.

Abstract Perovskite-type LSM and LSCF deposits were developed for oxygen electrode for solid oxide fuel cell and high temperature water electrolyzer by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) using different feedstock powders. The deposits were tailored to exhibit high oxygen catalytic activity, oxygen surface exchange and diffusion rates, gas permeability and electronic-ionic conductivity. Deposits did not exhibit undesired secondary phases that may form in plasma. Promoting partial melting of the surface of the particles ensured interlayer cohesion and very porous deposit. In SOFC mode cells with LSCF cathodes operating at 800 °C had more than 700 mW/cm² power densities at 0.7 V, which was 35% better than that of cells with LSM cathode. When operating in electrolyzer mode at 800 °C the cells with LSCF oxygen electrode also proved significantly enhanced electrochemical performance compared to cells with LSM oxygen electrode. At a current density of 1 A/cm2 the voltage for water splitting was reduced to around 1.4 V at an operating temperature of 800 °C and to 1.28 V at 850 °C.

Two photon excitation spectra of nitric oxide molecule from XII1/2, X2II3/2 to 4d Rydberg state O′2II– (v = O, 1) have been observed by using a frequency-doubled dye laser (283.4-293.5 nm). Ten rotational branches O21 + P11, P21 + Q11, Q21 + R11, R21 + S11, S21; O22 + P12, P22 + Q12, Q22 + R12, R22 + S12 and S22 are assigned for O′2II– – X2II– (0,0) band and (1,0) band. Rotational lines of P21 + Q11 and Q21 + R11 branches are easily observed to J = 24 and J = 16, respectively. Rotational analyses of these branches allow calculation of accurate values of O′2II– state rotational constants and vibronic level energy. For v = 0, Bv = 1.997 ± 0.002 cm–1, To = Te + G(v) = 68944.0 ± 0.8 cm–1 and for v = 1, Bv = 1.985 ± 0.002 cm–1, To = 71283.6 ± 0.8 cm–1. Fifteen branches of the excitation spectra from X2II– to 3d Rydberg states H′2II– (v = 1, 2, 3) in the 287.8–308.4 nm region are studied. Molecular constants of H′2II– state are obtained: for v = 1, To = 66010.1 ± 0.8 cm–1, Bv = 1.968 ± 0.002 cm–1; v = 2, To = 68316.9 ± 0.8 cm–1, Bv = 1.942 ± 0.002 cm–1, and v = 3, To = 70587.1 ± 0.8 cm–1, Bv = 1.941 ±v 0.002 cm–1. Laser-induced spectra of NO from various vibronic levels of H′2II–, O′2II– states are also observed. Emission spectra H′ 2II––D 2Σ+, C 2II, C 2II-A 2Σ+ are in the IR region (800–1150 nm); O′ 2II–-C 2II, D 2Σ+ in the visible region (630–690 nm); and the fluorescence progressions D 2Σ+, C 2II, A 2Σ+–X 2II to v" = 11 in the UV region (170–340 nm).

The Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has issued Department Order 2015-04 (DAO 2015-04) or the “The Implementation of Vehicle Emission Limits for EURO 4/IV, and In-Use Vehicle Emission Standards”. This policy, coupled with the Philippine Biofuels Act of 2016 (RA 9367) should greatly reduce the environmental impact of local automobile emissions. Commercial fuel is a mix of local coconut methyl ester (CME) and neat diesel blend. However, commercial diesel fuel is still at 2% v/v as of 2016 in contrast to the 5% v/v set by the policy, part due to the fact that only few local studies are done to show the effects of higher percentage of CME, with most recent studies showing results against increased CME usage. The study shows the effects of the usage of higher CME percentage in accordance to the set schedule of RA 9367. Five fuel blends with varying CME percentages v/v (2%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) are used in a heavy duty turbocharged common rail direct injection (CRDI) engine. The engine is run on an eddy current dynamometer with steady state measurements at 50 to 500Nm with 50Nm intervals. Each fuel is tested at three pedal positions, alpha, (25%, 50%, and 60%) controlled directly from the engine control unit (ECU). Results show that higher CME usage does not result in reduction of power and achieved torque. There is, however, a significant increase in brake specific fuel consumption at higher percentages of CME. No significant change in carbon monoxide (CO) and unburned hydrocarbons of diesel (HCD) is observed but there is a significant increase in Nitrous Oxides (NOx) concentration as CME percentage is increased. However, brake specific CO and HCD were found to be out of standard for near no load and near full load operations. A similar trend is observed for brake specific. Brake specific NOx is particularly more problematic since all measurements were observed to be out of standard with maximum values of 1350% of the set EURO 4/IV standard. However, it is also seen that the performance of each blend does not significantly differ from each other. Nevertheless, there is still some potential in the usage of CME due to the fact that power and torque requirements are still met at the expense of higher fuel consumption; but with the opportunity of being self-sufficient as coconut-producing country.

This is the first part of a two-part report that revisits and updates the verification and validation (V&V) of the Coastal Modeling System (CMS). The V&V study in this part of the report focuses on hydrodynamic and wave modeling. With the updated CMS code (Version 5) and its latest graphical user interface, the Surface-water Modeling System (Version 13), the goal of this study is to revisit some early CMS V&V cases and assess some new cases on model performance in coastal applications. The V&V process includes the comparison and evaluation of the CMS output against analytical solutions, laboratory experiments in prototype cases, and field cases in and around coastal inlets and navigation projects. The V&V results prove that the basic physics incorporated are represented well, the computational algorithms implemented are accurate, and the coastal processes are reproduced well. This report provides the detailed descriptions of those test simulations, which include the model configuration, the selection of model parameters, the determination of model forcing, and the quantitative assessment of the model and data comparisons. It is to be hoped that, through the V&V process, the CMS users will better understand the model’s capability and limitation as a tool to solve real-world problems.

The project objective was to more fully understand how the motion of pollen grains may be controlled by electrostatic forces, and to develop a reliable mechanized pollination system based upon sound electrostatic and aerodynamic principles. Theoretical and experimental analyses and computer simulation methods which investigated electrostatic aspects of natural pollen transfer by insects found that: a) actively flying honeybees accumulate ~ 23 pC average charge (93 pC max.) which elevates their bodies to ~ 47 V likely by triboelectrification, inducing ~ 10 fC of opposite charge onto nearby pollen grains, and overcoming their typically 0.3-3.9 nN detachment force resulting in non-contact electrostatic pollen transfer across a 5 mm or greater air gap from anther-to-bee, thus providing a theoretical basis for earlier experimental observations and "buzz pollination" events; b) charge-relaxation characteristics measured for flower structural components (viz., 3 ns and 25 ns time constants, respectively, for the stigma-style vs. waxy petal surfaces) ensure them to be electrically appropriate targets for electrodeposition of charged pollen grains but not differing sufficiently to facilitate electrodynamic focusing onto the stigma; c) conventional electrostatic focusing beneficially concentrates pollen-deposition electric fields onto the pistill tip by 3-fold as compared to that onto underlying flower structures; and d) pollen viability is adequately maintained following exposure to particulate charging/management fields exceeding 2 MV/m. Laboratory- and field-scale processes/prototype machines for electrostatic application of pollen were successfully developed to dispense pollen in both a dry-powder phase and in a liquid-carried phase utilizing corona, triboelectric, and induction particulate-charging methods; pollen-charge levels attained (~ 1-10 mC/kg) provide pollen-deposition forces 10-, 77-, and 100-fold greater than gravity, respectively, for such charged pollen grains subjected to a 1 kV/cm electric field. Lab and field evaluations have documented charged vs. ukncharged pollen deposition to be significantly (a = 0.01-0.05) increased by 3.9-5.6 times. Orchard trials showed initial fruit set on branches individually treated with electrostatically applied pollen to typically increase up to ~ 2-fold vs. uncharged pollen applications; however, whole-tree applications have not significantly shown similar levels of benefit and corrective measures continue. Project results thus contribute important basic knowledge and applied electrostatics technology which will provide agriculture with alternative/supplemental mechanized pollination systems as tranditional pollen-transfer vectors are further endangered by natural and man-fade factors.
