Résumé :
Animal osteopathy is a branch of veterinary medicine that utilizes an integrative, natural approach to identify and treat restrictions of mobility across different body structures. Osteopathic treatment (OT) is a noninvasive approach based on the gentle manipulation of 4 fundamental pillars: structural, cranial, visceral, and lymphatic. In animals, improving the range of motion of muscular and skeletal systems by means of osteopathic techniques can enhance general wellbeing, decrease pain, ameliorate surgical outcomes, and improve performance. Abstract This report describes the case of a 66-year-old afebrile woman seen on the hospital inpatient service with nausea, vomiting, bloating, and constipation for 5 days prior to admission. The patient was diagnosed with idiopathic acute small bowel pseudo-obstruction by gastroenterology. The epidemiology of acute small-bowel pseudo-obstruction is briefly reviewed. Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) was performed on the patient using mostly abdominal and visceral manipulation techniques. This case represents the first report of imaging evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness of os

Osteopathic manual treatment has been recommended as a non-pharmacological therapy for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). However, to date, no study has supported the effectiveness of this intervention with respect to the symptoms of the disease. Our goal was to assess the effect of an osteopathic manual technique for the lower esophageal sphincter on GERD symptoms, cervical mobility and on the C4 spinous process pressure pain threshold (PPTs). Methods: A randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled trial was performed. Sixty subjects suffering from GERD participated in this study and were

Introduction: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a deformity that affects the spine in three dimensions. Even though AIS patients are usually asymptomatic, AIS negatively impacts them, affecting their quality of life and restricting their social life. There are many treatment options but no gold standard. Visceral manipulation (VM) is widely used in osteopathic practice for the treatment of several conditions, but it is little known among the medical community. To the best of our knowledge, there are no scientific studies reporting VM as a treatment alternative for AIS. Case Presentation

Introduction. Recently, the prevalence of functional disorders of the digestive system (FD DS) in children has increased. Regurgitation is one of the most common manifestations of FD DS, but also one of the symptoms of perinatal damage to the nervous system (PD NS). The most diffi cult diagnosis of FD DS is in newborns and children of the fi rst half of life, since there are age restrictions in the use of instrumental research methods. Osteopathic diagnostics of somatic dysfunctions can complement clinical and instrumental research methods in such children. No studies have been conducted to asse

Background Surgery remains the gold standard for management of endometriosis, offering significant improvement in patient pelvic pain and quality of life (QoL). Postoperative tissue adhesions can however diminish these benefits, limiting the long-term effectiveness of the intervention. Despite the development of strategies and devices to reduce adhesion formation, their efficacy remains inconclusive. Introduction. Along with the increasing incidence of cholelithiasis, despite the success of its surgical treatment, there is a significant increase in the number of patients with the so-called postcholecystectomy syndrome (PCES). It is caused by the fact that cholecystectomy disturbs the process of bile secretion and does not compensate complex pathophysiological disorders occurring at cholelithiasis. The arsenal of effective means of medication and non-medication correction is relatively small that makes clinicians look for new methods of PCES therapy. Earlier studies have shown rather high c

The study involved patients of both sexes, with the mean age of 29.4±6.5 years, the treatment lasted from 10 to 14 weeks. It was determined that following the osteopathic treatment in patients, the number of complaints decreased, the mobility of the spine in the thoracic and cervical regions increased, and the condition of the gastric mucosa improved.
