Callianassa turnerana, called Cameroon ghost shrimps is shrimp with a great sociocultural interest in Cameroon. This study assessed proximate composition and micronutrients contents of Callianassa turnerana from the Wouri estuary in Cameroon. Adult shrimps were collected. The proximate composition, mineral, carotenoids and vitamin E contents were determined in edible parts (male and female) and in eggs of C. turnerana using official analytical methods. One way ANOVA and Fisher’s post hoc PLS test was used to analyze the data. The moisture content were 66±1.5%, 62 &plus

Over the past three decades, growing global interest has been in replacing fossil fuels with clean energy from renewable resources. As a result, biogas generation from biodegradable organic waste has become increasingly popular, and water hyacinth is a menace wherever it exists. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) from River Wouri as a biogas substrate. Equal volumes (700 mL) of water hyacinth and poultry-based inoculum were prepared, each with a duplicate. The 8 substrates were placed in 1-liter plastic and incubated in a water bath at 37± 2 °

Towards the end of 1886 four missionaries set foot on Cameroonian soil in the harbor of Douala. They were representatives of the Switzerland based Basel Mission (BM) who had arrived to take over from the pioneers of Christian mission work in Cameroon, the British Baptists, two years after this part of west-central Africa had been brought under German colonial rule in 1884. Their challenge was founded on the key objectives of consolidating and expanding the web of christian communities which had been established along the Atlantic coast north of the Wouri estuary.Today, just over 110 years late

Public lighting or street lighting systems are raised sources of light on the edge of the road or walkway, that is turned ON at night or during bad weather to lighten the streets and turned OFF in the morning. The major problem with streetlights is their excessive energy consumption as most of that energy is wasted because the streets are empty between about 11 pm to 5 am. This also leads to the rapid degration of the streetlights and increased cost of maintenance operations which constitute a financial burden to the municipality. Résumé :
ABSTRACTPhysicochemical parameters, chlorophyll a (Chl a) concentration, and phytoplankton community structure were assessed in the Wouri estuarine mangrove sector of the Douala Bassa Industrial Zone of Cameroon over two seasons. Three sets of water samples were collected from 10 sites for these analyses. Some physicochemical parameters were measured in situ using multiparameter equipment (HANNA 8289). The data were subjected to analyses of significant difference by an independent sample t‐test. Correlation and principal component analysis conducted between variables Temperature, salinity, tot
