Ethnic discrimination has deep roots in Rwanda. For many dozens of years, Tutsis have been marked down as those whose task it is to rule the country and Hutus have been treated as those who have to submit to it. As time moved on, Hutu hatred had been growing steadily and resulted in coup d'état in 1959 and consequent persecutions of Tutsis. However, hidden grudge lingered on. The pretext for its revival was the RPF incursion into the country at the beginning of nineties. The invasion also became one of the major preconditions of the fastest genocide in history. This thesis aims to pinpoint actors with direct and also indirect influence, to specify their motives, to assess implications of their decisions and on the grounds of this all to divide them into groups of perpetrators, bystanders and rescuers. The identification of psychological aspects of Hutu perpetrators was made with intent to analyse the process of Us-Them thinking with its typical features and consequences and the process of dehumanization with particular emphasis on its linguistic forms. In connection with that, this thesis points out crucial importance of Rwandan media of hate which determined anti-Tutsi propaganda to a considerable extent.

Den generella tilliten har i Sverige länge varit stabil och anses ur ett internationellt perspektiv vara unik. Syftet med denna studie är att studera om det finns ett samband mellan generell tillit och xenofobi. På grund av den minskade toleransen till främlingar under de senaste åren, studeras även hur generell den svenska tilliten egentligen är, eller om den generella tilliten är beroende av gruppspecifik tillit. Studien grundar sig på Robert Putnams teori om socialt kapital samt tidigare forskning som visat på sambandet mellan generell tillit och xenofobi. Studien använder sig av data från World Value Survey och behandlar svensk data från 2011. Studiens frågeställningar har besvarats genom en logistisk regressionsanalys. Resultaten visade ett positivt samband mellan låg in-gruppstillit och xenofobi samt ett positivt samband mellan låg ut-gruppstillit och xenofobi. Slutsatsen blev att det fanns ett samband mellan generell tillit och xenofobi. Detta samband kunde även till viss del förklaras av gruppspecifik tillit, där särskilt tillit till individer från andra kulturella sfärer än den egna var av betydelse.

Nossa investigação explora a possibilidade de o tema da paideia ser um eixo comum em torno do qual se articulam os textos de Xenofonte de Atenas, autor do século IV a.C. Julgamos que essa perspectiva se justifica em razão da importância que esse autor atribui à construção de retratos de homens paradigmáticos. Ilustramos esse procedimento com a análise do retrato que o próprio Xenofonte constrói para si, na Anabase. É sobretudo a partir da análise desses retratos que podemos ver, em Xenofonte, a discussão do tema da paideia. Os estudos que aqui empreendemos concentram-se no tema da paideia do governante. Nesse horizonte, oferecemos uma possível leitura para o retrato daquele que o autor considera a contrafacção do governante ideal, o tirano Hierão, de diálogo homônimo. Por fim, ocupamo-nos dos elementos que compõem o retrato xenofôntico do governante paradigmático, Ciro, o velho, da Ciropédia.
Our research explores the possibility of the theme of paideia as a common axis around which are articulated the texts of Xenophon of Athens, author of the fourth century BC. We believe that this perspective is justified because of the importance this author gives to the construction of portraits of paradigmatic men. We illustrate this procedure with the analysis of the portrait which Xenophon builds for himself in the Anabasis. It is mainly based on the analysis of such portraits that we can see, in Xenophon, the discussion on the theme of paideia. The studies undertaken here focus on the theme of the ruler\'s paideia. In this horizon, we offer a possible reading for the portrait of the man the author considers the counterfeiting of the ideal ruler, the tyrant Hiero, in the corresponding dialogue. Finally we deal with the elements that make up the portrait of Xenophons paradigmatic ruler, Cyrus the Great, of the Cyropaedia.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to examine how Greece’s migration system functions and how immigration and asylum policies manifest themselves during the countries current severe economic crisis. More precisely, examining how the regulatory framework and policies regarding refugees' and migrant situation effects practical implementation. The research questions raised are; - How are refugees and other migrants' rights in Greece respected, from a legal, political and moral perspective? What impact can racism have on the treatment of refugees and other migrants? A contextual analysis of ideas through an analysis of the political programs/agendas was used and contrasted, through theories concerning racism, nationalism and globalization to further nuance the situation concerning refugees' rights. Furthermore the study is analyzed through a HR perspective or more precisely through relevant conventions, regulations and EU directives. The conclusions are that Greece has laws and policies regarding migration, however these regulations have major flaws concerning their practical outcome. Improvements have been made to the migration system constituted of new government agencies intended to meet EU-standards, concerning the management of the asylum process. Unfortunately these improvements have been found wanting. Globalization is challenging the national and regional laws. EU and its regulations concerning asylum, does not take into account differentiated contextual realities concerning EU´s member states. People generally intend to travel through Greece and are consequently sent back to Greece by other EU states, without significant support it becomes problematic to handle this volume of people. The European Union’s protectionist policies create barriers and make access to the region more difficult, meanwhile people of other nationalities flee or migrate in hope of a more secure and humane existence. With xenophobia on the rise (both politically and socially) migrants face further difficulties, for instance fear of deportation can make the reporting of hate crimes to the authorities complicated to say the least.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho é a análise de três narrativas de Xenofonte, as Helênicas, a Anábase e a Ciropedia, questionando a sua tradicional classificação como obras historiográficas. Considerando a historiografia um gênero literário, que manifesta estruturas linguísticas e narrativas próprias, buscamos comparar como Xenofonte constrói suas narrativas de modo autônomo e inovador diante da tradição do gênero instituído por Heródoto e Tucídides. A historiografia, com a obra desses autores, criou um discurso próprio a respeito do passado, instituindo uma forma específica de se trabalhar a história recente do povo grego. No entanto, desde Homero, a história estava presente na literatura grega através dos mitos que compunham as narrativas da história dos gregos. Desse modo, compreendemos que a presença de eventos históricos em forma narrativa não garante, por si só, o enquadramento genérico como obra historiográfica. O que garante esse enquadramento é a própria atitude do autor que o organiza os eventos de modo historiográfico, atualizando os recursos linguísticos e estruturais que compõem o gênero. Diante disso, compreendemos que apenas as Helências preenchem esse requisito, pois nela Xenofonte atua como um historiador consciente do gênero. Diferentemente, na Anábase e na Ciropedia, embora baseadas em eventos reais, a estrutura dessas narrativas se distancia daquela da historiografia, apresentando, desse modo, novas e inovadoras formas de se trabalhar o passado em forma narrativa. A Anábase é construída como uma narrativa de aventura e de retorno, em uma relação de intertextualidade com a Odisseia de Homero, enquanto, na Ciropedia, Xenofonte utiliza o passado do rei persa Ciro, o velho, para ficcionalizar um modelo de líder, criando uma narrativa que podemos chamar de proto-romance
Abstract: The aim of this paper is the analysis of three Xenophon's narratives, the Hellenica, the Anabasis and the Cyropaedia, questioning their traditional classification as a historiographical works. Considering the Historiography as a literary discourse, which manifests themselves linguistics and narratives structures, we seek to compare how Xenophon builds his narrative in autonomous and innovative way towards of genre tradition instituted by Herodotus and Thucydides. The Historiography, with the work of these authors, created a discourse itself about the past, establishing a specific way of working the recent history of Greek people. However, since Homer, the history was present in Greek literature through the myths that made narratives of the history of the Greeks. Thus, we understand that the presence of historical events in narrative form doesn't guarantee, by itself, the generic framework as a historiographical work. What guarantees this framework is the very attitude of the author who organizes the events the historiographical way, updating the linguistic and narrative structures that make up the genre. Therefore, we understand that only Hellenica meet that requirement because, in this work, Xenophon acts as a conscious gender historian. Unlike, in Anabasis and Cyropaedia, although based on real events, the structure of these narratives is distant from that of historiography, presenting thereby new and innovative ways to work with the past in narrative form. The Anabasis is built as a narrative adventure and return in a intertextual relationship with Homer's Odyssey, while in Cyropaedia Xenophon uses the past of the Persian king Cyrus to fictionalizing a leader model, creating a narrative that we call proto-novel

A Ciropedia de Xenofonte, escrita no século IV a.C., é uma obra de caráter híbrido, em que a ficção e a história se mesclam com muita liberdade. Em virtude disto, tem-se discutido qual seria a melhor classificação de gênero para a obra: romance biográfico, obra historiográfica, romance histórico. A presente dissertação investiga em que medida a Ciropedia de Xenofonte apresenta elementos narrativos que nos permitam reconhecer nela aspectos do gênero do romance, mais especificamente do “romance de formação” (Bildungsroman), gênero cujo paradigma se encontra na obra de Goethe, Os Anos de Aprendizagem de Wilhelm Meister (1795-1796). Primeiramente, procuramos definir em que medida nós podemos ler a Ciropedia como uma obra de ficção, e não como uma obra historiográfica, a partir de reflexões a respeito das relações entre Literatura e História, e, principalmente, por meio de uma análise comparativa entre a narrativa da Ciropedia com a narrativa das Histórias de Heródoto. Percebe-se que Xenofonte ficcionaliza a narrativa estabelecida por Heródoto, seja retomando temas, seja fazendo alusões à narrativa herodoteana. Em seguida, partindo-se da noção bakhtiniana de que todo gênero conserva, em sua estrutura, elementos formais da archaica, que não só caracterizam o gênero de forma distintiva, mas também permitem a sua renovação a cada nova manifestação literária, procuramos definir quais elementos essenciais presentes no Romance de Formação moderno encontramos na Ciropedia. Analisamos cenas em que são evidentes a partipação de mentores, a presença de uma instituição pedagógica, a visão teleológica da educação. The Xenophon’s Cyropaedia, written in the fourth century B.C., it is a work of hybrid character, in which fiction and history mingle with a lot of freedom. Because of this, it has been discussed what would be the best genre classification for the work: biographical novel, work of historiography, historical novel. This dissertation investigates the extent to which Cyropaedia Xenophon's narrative has elements that allow us to recognize aspects of her romance genre, specifically the “Novel of Education” (Bildungsroman), genre whose paradigm is in the work Goethe’s Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship (1795-1796). First, we looked to define to what extent we can read the Cyropaedia as a work of fiction, and not as a work of historiography, from reflections on the relationship between Literature and History, and mainly through a comparative analysis between the narrative of Cyropaedia and the narrative of Herodotus’ Histories. Esta pesquisa é basicamente desenvolvida em duas partes: (i) um capítulo introdutório, discutindo os principais problemas que envolvem a obra, além de algumas informações que julgamos relevantes acerca de alguns personagens que figuram no livro II; e (ii) a tradução do livro II das Helênicas. Em ambas as duas partes inserimos notas de rodapé de natureza histórica, linguística e/ou literária que contribuem para o esclarecimento de aspectos relevantes do texto. Na primeira parte desta pesquisa, fazemos um breve resumo das Helênicas, com ênfase no livro II. Com base na leitura da bibliografia crítica, comentamos brevemente algumas das principais questões em torno da obra: (i) a questão da composição; (ii) a suposição de que a primeira parte das Helênicas seja uma continuidade da História da Guerra do Peloponeso de Tucídides; (iii) nexos com seus predecessores: Heródoto e Tucídides; (iv) o caráter didático de cunho moral das Helênicas e, finalmente, (v) a repercussão e receptividade das Helênicas na Antiguidade e nos estudos mais recentes. Para a tradução e o estudo do texto grego, utilizamos a edição de E. C. Marchant (Oxford Classical Texts, 2008)
This research is basically divided in two parts: (i) an introductory chapter, discussing the main issues concerning the work, and providing additionally some biographical details about the main characters of Book II; and (ii) the translation into Portuguese of Book II of Xenophon\'s Hellenica. The study is enriched by footnotes with historical, linguistic and/or literary informations in order to clarify relevant aspects of the text. In the introductory chapter, we present a brief summary of Xenophon\'s Hellenica emphasizing the content of Book II. Based on the recent literature on Xenophon, we comment briefly some important issues concerning the work as a whole, such as (i) the problem of its composition and arrangement; (ii) the assumption that the first part of the Hellenica consists in a continuation of Thucydides\' History of the Peloponnesian War; (iii) Xenophon\'s relationship with his predecessors: Herodotus and Thucydides; (iv) the ethical and didactical purpose of the Hellenica, and finally (v) the reception of the Hellenica in Antiquity and in the modern and contemporary literature on Xenophon. For the translation and the study of the Greek text we have used EC Marchant\'s edition (Oxford Classical Texts, 2008)

Relatório de estágio do mestrado em Sociologia, apresentado à Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, sob a orientação de Virgínia Ferreira.
O presente relatório resulta de um estágio curricular, no âmbito do Mestrado em Sociologia da Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, com a duração de quatro meses, que decorreu no IEBA - Centro de Iniciativas Empresariais e Sociais em Mortágua, onde tive a possibilidade de trabalhar no projeto In Other Words – Por Outras Palavra. As atividades do projeto procuram refletir sobre a temática da discriminação dos media na imprensa escrita, tendo como objetivo tentar entender como é que os media influenciam comportamentos intolerantes e estereotipados na sociedade e, por outro lado, tentar perceber a importância destes enquanto canais privilegiados de comunicação. Para a concretização destes objetivos foi feita uma análise de imprensa a jornais regionais (Campeão das Províncias, Diário As Beiras e Diário de Coimbra) e nacionais (Diário de Notícias, Jornal i, jornal de notícias, Expresso, Público, Primeiro de Janeiro e Sol) e aplicado um questionário on line às entidades parceiras do projeto. As análises realizadas mostraram que as formas de discriminação mais frequentes nos meios de comunicação social são as baseadas no género, deficiência, ciganofobia, homofobia e na xenofobia. Uma vez concluído o estágio, foram efetuadas entrevistas semidirectivas a jornalistas, com o propósito de conhecer a sua opinião acerca desta temática e dos resultados do projeto. Nas entrevistas realizadas, os media sobrevêm como um espelho da sociedade e como meios desconstrução da realidade, uma vez que tendem a reforçar tendências latentes na sociedade, ou seja, as ações e situações de discriminação que se encontram patentes nos media correspondem às situações de discriminação existentes na sociedade. Os/As jornalistas assumem-se assim como agentes fundamentais do campo jornalístico, um campo cuja complexidade atravessa várias das suas componentes – desde a recolha da informação (nas suas diversas etapas), ao relacionamento com as fontes, as pressões e constrangimentos exercidos, os critérios de seleção, passando pela produção informativa, até às questões relativas à difusão das mensagens mediáticas. O trabalho realizado mostra que é importante compreender a relevância da esfera pública, porque é nesta que o papel da sociedade civil enquanto espaço de articulação de vozes contribui de forma determinante para a formação e pluralidade da discussão pública.

Resumo: A partir do exame da dicotomia entre os grupos "nós" e "outros", verificamos-se a existência e as possíveis causas do aumento da xenofobia e do preconceito racial na Rússia contemporânea. Por "nós", compreendem-se os russos e, também, os moradores de Moscou, capital do país, que se posicionam como o grupo receptor dos "outros": migrantes e moradores recém-chegados das outras regiões do país. As evidências de discriminação de alguns grupos sociais são descritas como xenofobia, migrantofobia, preconceito étnico e/ ou racial. O discurso discriminatório (institucional, midiático, coloquial) é, predominantemente, proferido em termos étnicos; a etnia aparece como um marcador de diferença e a pertença étnica como um dos principais fatores que levam à discriminação. A discussão sobre a problemática do uso de conceitos como "raça" e "etnia" e sobre a proximidade destes conceitos nas obras dos principais cientistas sociais e antropólogos soviéticos e russos traz contribuições a sua crítica e à compreensão de seus usos nas retóricas de exclusão e do fenômeno da xenofobia na Rússia contemporânea. O contexto específico da Rússia contemporânea é abordado em sua relação com os períodos históricos precedentes (império russo e URSS). Ao longo da tese, são descritos os processos de categorização étnica, a partir do primeiro censo promovido ainda no período imperial, na Rússia; e é abordada a relação entre os conceitos "raça" e "etnia". Afirma-se a evidência de retóricas e práticas racistas na Rússia contemporânea, incluindo a xenofobia e o preconceito a partir da diferença étnica. A análise específica do aumento da xenofobia na Rússia traz contribuições importantes para o debate científico em torno do contexto pós-socialista, pós-totalitarista e pós-colonialista
Abstract: Considering the examination of the dichotomy between the groups "we" and the "others", it is possible to notice the existence and the possible causes to the rise of xenophobia and racial prejudice in contemporary Russia. At the idea of "we", the Russians, and also, the residents of Moscow, the capital of the country, are comprehended - this is the group receiver of the "others": migrants and newcomers from other regions of the country. The evidences of discrimination of certain social groups are described as xenophobia, migrantophobia, ethnic and / or racial prejudice. The discriminatory discourse (institutional, at the media, or colloquial) is mainly pronounced in ethnic terms, and the ethnicity appears as a marker of difference and as one of the main factors leading to discrimination. The discussion on the issue of the use of concepts such as "race" and "ethnicity" and the proximity of them by leading Soviet and Russian social scientists and anthropologists brings contributions to its questioning and to the understanding of their uses in the rhetoric of exclusion and in the phenomenon of xenophobia in Russia nowadays. The specific context of actual Russia is discussed in relation with previous historical periods (Russian Empire and the USSR). Throughout the thesis, the processes of ethnic categorization, since the first census promoted at the imperial period in Russia, are described, and the relationship between the terms "race" and "ethnicity" is discussed. It is appointed the evidence of racist rhetoric and practices in Russia nowadays, including xenophobia and prejudice based on ethnic differences. And the analysis of the rise of xenophobia in Russia brings important contributions to the scientific debate about the postsocialism, postotalitarianism and postcolonialism

We intend to analyze how, through your own views and social practices, Xenophon composed the image of Spartans and their poliad regime during the period following the end of the 5th century to the early 4th century before BCE a time of great political turbulence in the Hellenic Poleis. In order to do so, we will use the writings in The Constitution of the Lacedaemonians, to point three elements that we believe are essential understanding of the Xenophon?s narrative: who was Xenophon and in which ways his life experiences influenced his narrative style; the idea of City, i.e., Xenophon?s idea of the Polis and how he defined it as a community of Citizens; and finally, to establish through which tools Xenophon build an image of Sparta and Spartans by way of their representations in his writings

Under 2000-talet har den xenofobiska publikopinionen växt, i såväl styrka som mängd. Främlingsfientliga och rasistiska stereotyper används ideligen i diverse mediekanaler och i och med yttrandefrihetens förflyttning till bland annat digitala plattformer möjliggörs ett allt grövre språk (Ekman 2011:2). Syftet med denna studie var att ta reda på hur bloggen Exponerat, en av de största invandringskritiska sajterna i Sverige, ur ett främlingsfientligt perspektiv representerar och remedierar invandrar-och invandringsrelaterade nyheter från etablerade mediekanaler. Vidare ville vi skapa en förståelse för xenofobins kognitiva dimensioner genom att diskutera och problematisera enskilda kommentarer till blogginläggen. Uppsatsens metodologiska ram utgick ifrån kritisk diskursanalys (CDA) med element ur konversationsanalys (CA). Vårt material bestod av 9 stycken blogginlägg och deras tillhörande förlagor, vilka valdes ut för vidare analys efter att vi tagit del av en veckas inlägg på bloggen, cirka 250 stycken. Dessa nio inlägg fördelades sedan under kategorierna brott, ekonomi och mångkultur med tre inlägg i varje kategori. Samtliga blogginlägg fokuserar på invandrar-och invandringsrelaterade frågor och består av reproducerade och remedierade nätartiklar från etablerade mediekanaler. Studien visar att det råder en explicit gränsdragning mellan ”vi” (den vita infödda svensken) och ”de Andra” (invandraren) då grupperna representeras på olika premisser. De röster och aktörer vi har tolkat på bloggen är överlag subjektiva där frågor som rör invandrare och invandring beskrivs ur ett missgynnat och fientligt perspektiv. Bloggen kan identifieras som en explicit främlingsfientlig diskurs där inläggens författare och kommentarsdeltagare producerar och remedierar en stereotypifiering och gränsdragning av ”de Andra”.

No ano de 2010 um país americano - Haiti - sofreu uma extrema catástrofe natural que vitimou mais de 300 mil pessoas e desabrigou outras três milhões, segundo informado pelo primeiro-ministro haitiano Jean-Max Bellerive. Foi iniciado um deslocamento migratório pela sobrevivência, diversos haitianos começaram a migrar para outros Estados Internacionais em busca de melhores condições humanas. Nesse cenário o Brasil se apresenta como um excelente anfitrião, capaz de lhes assegurar uma vida digna. Favorecido por diversos fatos internacionais, o Brasil rapidamente se torna um país destino aos haitianos que iniciam um trajeto desconhecido até este país. A recepção brasileira, tanto pública quanto particular, se apresenta acolhedora e garantidora de Direitos Humanos em um primeiro momento. Posteriormente o comportamento social vai sendo alterado, a medida em que a onda imigratória se fortalece e adquire caráter permanente. Atos nacionais de discriminação passam a ser direcionados aos imigrantes haitianos. Atos que não são identificados em tal escala contra imigrantes brancos. A sociedade particular transforma a recepção acolhedora em demonstrações de xenofobia e racismo, caracterizando um alvo específico para tais comportamentos: o imigrante negro. Os direitos mais básicos começam a ser dificultados e os haitianos começam a enxergar um novo terremoto: o da xenofobia. Uma revolta haitiana é necessária para uma real efetivação de direitos por parte de órgãos públicos. Assim, tendo como um dos motivadores o comportamento social, os haitianos se veem obrigados a lutar por melhores condições de vida, seja em território brasileiro seja em outro país que os acolha e garanta o mais básico dos direitos, uma vida digna.
In 2010, an American country - Haiti - suffered an extreme natural disaster that killed more than 300,000 people and displaced another three million, according to Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive. A migratory displacement was initiated for the survival, several Haitians began to migrate to other International States in search of better human conditions. In this scenario, Brazil presents itself as an excellent host, capable of assuring them a dignified life. Favored by various international facts, Brazil quickly becomes a destination for Haitians who embark on an unknown journey to this country. The Brazilian reception, both public and private, is welcoming and guaranteeing Human Rights at first. Subsequently, social behavior is altered, as the immigration wave strengthens and acquires permanent character. National acts of discrimination are now targeted at Haitian immigrants. Acts that are not identified on such a scale against white immigrants. The private society transforms the welcoming reception into demonstrations of xenophobia and racism, characterizing a specific target for such behaviors: the black immigrant. The most basic rights begin to be hampered, and Haitians are beginning to see a new earthquake: that of xenophobia. A Haitian uprising is necessary for a real realization of rights by public agencies. Thus, as a motivator of social behavior, Haitians are forced to fight for better living conditions, whether in Brazil or in another country that accepts them and guarantees the most basic of rights, a dignified life.

As migrações, movimento de grandes grupos humanos, constituem-se ainda tema atual e complexo. Na Europa, na Ásia, na África e mesmo na América, verdadeiras massas populacionais se deslocam de seus locais de origem, procurando melhor condição econômica ou fugindo de perseguições com motivações políticas ou religiosas. A chegada desses imigrantes nem sempre ocorre de forma pacífica. Esse processo acompanha a história conhecida da Humanidade, por fatores semelhantes, guardadas as devidas proporções. Esta foi a motivação para a realização desta pesquisa, na medida em que o Brasil recebeu muitos imigrantes, em diferentes momentos de sua história, desencadeando, por vezes, reações violentas traduzidas em expulsão, como as ocorridas entre as décadas de 1930 e 1940. Os espanhóis foram alvo desse estranhamento, no período de 1935 a 1937, e os japoneses, entre 1945 e 1947. Nesse sentido, o objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi analisar esse cenário xenofóbico com foco em duas nacionalidades: espanhola e japonesa. Como objetivos específicos, estabeleceu-se a identificação de discurso mítico contra espanhóis, representando um perigo vermelho, e contra os japoneses, que se constituiriam como perigo amarelo, a partir de duas problematizações: temia-se que a consolidação do regime republicano levasse a uma experiência semelhante, mas comunista no Brasil? E a Shindô Renmei, sociedade composta por japoneses que não acreditavam na rendição do Japão na II Guerra Mundial (1939-1945), representaria um risco de expansionismo oriental? Como hipótese, estabeleceu-se que a perseguição se aprofundou com a II Guerra Mundial, tendo, entretanto, motivações políticas e raciais. Como metodologia, optou-se pela pesquisa documental, com base em arquivos do Departamento Estadual de Ordem Política e Social de São Paulo (DEOPS/SP) e do Tribunal de Segurança Nacional. No caso da perseguição aos espanhóis, estudou-se o caso da Família Mas Herrera, e a atuação da Shindô Renmei na região Noroeste do Estado de São Paulo quanto aos japoneses. Concluiu-se que, na gênese da repressão, adotou-se o discurso de ameaça às instituições, aos valores e à segurança nacional, diante de um complô comunista internacional, funcional à ditadura de Getúlio Vargas em seu projeto nacionalista e populista, especialmente no Estado Novo (1937-1945)
The migrations, movements a large group of human been, from one part to another one, but it is still a current complex subject. In Europe, Asia, Africa and even in the America, great groups left their countries and their origins to search one better economic condition, others became fugitive, because they pass to persecution political or religious. The arrival of these immigrants did not always happens peacefully. This process follows the known history of human been, for many similar factors, just saved the appropriate proportions. Because that it was the motivation for this research, in different times of the history, Brazil received many immigrants and sometimes it was happened with violent reactions that can be translated into expulsions, such as occurred between the years 1930 and 1940. The Spanish people were the target of this estrangement between 1935 and 1937, and the Japanese were the group between 1945 and 1947. The objective of this research is to analyze this xenophobic focusing on two nationalities: spanish and japanese. The objectives specific of this research, was established of the identification mythic discourse against the spanish, people who was called the red danger, and against the japanese that were denominated the yellow danger, from two big problems: it was the scared that the consolidation of the Republican regime led to a similar experience, but comunist in Brazil? And Shindô Renmei, society that did not believe in Japan\'s surrender in World War II (1939-1945), Japan could represent a risk of eastern expansionism? As a hypothesis, it was established that the persecution became stronger during World War, has, however, political and racial motivations. As methodology, it was opted for the documentary research, it was based on State Department files of Political and Social Order of São Paulo (DEOPS/SP) and the Court of National Security. In the case of the persecution of spanish, the research took the case of the family Mas Herrera, and also the performance of japaneses from Shindô Renmei in the Northwest Region of São Paulo State. It was concluded that, in the genesis of repression, was adopted the threat of speech to the institutions, to the values and national security in the face of an international, functional communist plot to the dictatorship of Getúlio Vargas in his nationalist and populist project, especially in the New State (1937 to 1945)

A proposta presente nesta dissertação é investigar os discursos sobre os imigrantes brasileiros em dois jornais de grande circulação em Portugal, nomeadamente o Jornal de Notícias e o Correio da Manhã. Sabe-se que a mídia tem um papel fundamental na formação pessoal e coletiva dos indivíduos. Num mundo cada vez mais tecnológico e comercial, as informações chegam cada vez mais rápido, sendo divulgadoras de conhecimento e opiniões. Nesse sentido, o objetivo geral desta investigação é analisar possíveis manifestações xenofóbicas ou de aceitação da diversidade cultural na impressa portuguesa, sendo este desmembrado em três objetivos específicos: (a) Identificar como a imprensa representa o brasileiro em território português; (b) Identificar elementos discursivos de xenofobia ou aceitação do imigrante brasileiro em Portugal; (c) Analisar o papel da mídia no fomento a discriminação ou à aceitação dos imigrantes brasileiros. Para tal, a metodologia utilizada foi a qualitativa através do método da Análise Crítica do Discurso. A recolha dos dados se centrou na recolha de 184 reportagens (entre 2007 e 2010) que retratassem o público aqui mencionado. Os resultados apontaram para um reprodução de estereótipos relacionados a ilegalidade, criminalidade e prostituição, sendo representado em sua grande maioria o imigrante de baixo nível social e com poucos anos escolaridade.
The present proposal in this investigation is to analyse the discourses about the brazilian immigrants in the news with a large circulation in Portugal, in particular the Jornal de Notícias and Correio da Manhã. It is known that the media has a key role in the personal and collective shaping of the persons. In a world increasingly technological and commercial, information travels faster and faster, being disseminators of knowledge and opinions. In this sense, the general objective of this research is to analyze possible manifestations xenophobic or acceptance of cultural diversity in Portuguese printed, which is broken down into three specific objectives: (A) Identify how the press represent the Brazilian people in Portuguese territory; (B) Identify elements of xenophobia or discursive acceptance of Brazilian immigrants in Portugal, (C) analyze the role of media in fostering discrimination or acceptance by Brazilian immigrants. For this purpose, the methodology used is qualitative through the method of Critical Discourse Analysis. The data collection focused in news reports who was portraying the population here mentioned (between the years 2007 and 2010) The results pointed to a reproduction of stereotypes related to illegality, crime and prostitution, being represented mostly immigrants from low social and few years of schooling.

El tratamiento informativo de los medios noticiosos en el Perú expresa cambios a raíz del fenómeno migratorio venezolano en el 2018. Por tal motivo, varias páginas destacaban que la xenofobia podría ser parte de esa alteración. Sobre ello, se pretende analizar los elementos de la xenofobia que estuvieron presentes en el discurso periodístico digital de los diarios Trome y Correo luego del incremento de la migración venezolana en los meses de enero a marzo y de junio a agosto de 2018. Al respecto, la xenofobia se relaciona con los elementos de la otredad, la identidad nacional, el nacionalismo y el etnocentrismo, que se manifiestan a través de estigmas. El objetivo es identificar los elementos que estuvieron presentes en los medios y por eso se escogieron notas que revelen estigmas, los cuales se componen con las variables de estudio: móvil de compasión, generalización, lexicalización negativa y señalización. Por tanto, se planteó un instrumento que reconoce las variables en el título, la bajada y el contenido. Se determina que los elementos de la xenofobia son la otredad, la identidad nacional reforzada en nacionalismo y el etnocentrismo, que trazan líneas simbólicas entre –los autóctonos y los inmigrantes– acentuando en la procedencia y denominaciones despectivas, y con un tono denunciante sobre sus acciones negativas. Se ocultó la participación de los peruanos en situaciones ilegales y se destacaron sus comportamientos “correctos”, para mostrarlos como vulnerables y posicionar a los migrantes como ingratos e iniciadores de las problemáticas, lo que revela la exclusión, rechazo e intolerancia.
The information treatment of the news media in Peru expresses changes due to the Venezuelan migratory phenomenon in 2018. For that reason, several pages highlighted that xenophobia could be part of that alteration. On this matter, the intention is to analyze the elements of xenophobia that were present in the digital journalistic discourse of the newspapers Trome and Correo after the increase of the Venezuelan migration in the months of January to March and June to August 2018. In this regard, xenophobia is related to the elements of otherness, national identity, nationalism and ethnocentrism, which are manifested through stigmas. The objective is to identify the elements that were present in the media and therefore notes were chosen that reveal stigmas, which are composed with the study variables: compassionate motive, generalization, negative lexicalization and signaling. Therefore, an instrument was proposed that recognizes the variables in the title, the lead and the content. It is determined that the elements of xenophobia are otherness, national identity reinforced in nationalism and ethnocentrism, which draw symbolic lines between -the natives and the immigrants- emphasizing in the origin and derogatory denominations, and with a denouncing tone on their negative actions. The participation of Peruvians in illegal situations was concealed and their "correct" behavior was highlighted, to show them as vulnerable and to position migrants as ungrateful and initiators of the problems, revealing exclusion, rejection and intolerance.

Objektet för min studie är Pow-Wow, en grupp som arbetar mot rasism och mobbning på en svensk grundskola. Syftet med uppsatsen är att genom en kvalitativ undersökning titta närmare på hur Pow-Wow, har startats, genomförts och utvecklats. Utgångspunkten är att liknande grupper som arbetar mot rasism är sällsynta i svenska skolor. Därför är det speciellt intressant att titta närmare på hur det kommer sig att Pow-Wow startades på skolan och varför verksamheten har kunnat överleva så länge.

För att kunna besvara dessa frågor har jag intervjuat skolans nuvarande rektor, skolans före detta rektor, de två lärare som arbetar med Pow-Wow och en elev som var med under Pow-Wows första år. Vid analysen av intervjuerna har jag använt mig av ett mikropolitiskt perspektiv som ser på skolan som en organisation där maktkamp och konflikter mellan olika grupper och individer ständigt pågår.

De två faktorer som i störst utsträckning påverkar Pow-Wow är dels Kajsa och Bengt, de två eldsjälarna som driver verksamheten och dels att Pow-Wow, medvetet eller omedvetet, undviker att försöka förändra skolan och därigenom undviker att hamna i konflikter.

Det följande arbetet är en kunskapsöversikt som ämnats åt att utforska vad forskning säger om hur man kan hantera och motverka islamofobi i skolsituationer. Frågan som utforskas är didaktiskt relevant och utformad på följande sätt: ”Hur kan man som lärare, enligt forskning, motverka islamofobi i skolsituationer?” Innan forskningen kring det didaktiska utforskas ges en kort inblick i hur islamofobi utvecklats i västvärlden under 2000-talet. Västvärlden i det här arbetet är definierat som länder som historiskt har haft liknande värderingar och lagstiftning som Sverige. Det är viktigt att veta relevant historia kring den nuvarande vågen av islamofobi och xenofobi och att man som lärare har en viss koll på hur det har utvecklats, för att öka kunnigheten i ämnet. Metodmässigt har arbetet gjorts genom att söka igenom olika databaser för att hitta artiklar, och sexton särkilda verk har valts ut. Översikten visar att islamofobi har förvärrats och blivit mer förekommande samt att diskriminering mot muslimer blivit mer vanligt. Forskningen visar även att islamofobi genomsyrar hela befolkningen, och att ungdomar och barn också har islamofobiska eller främlingsfientliga tendenser. I översikten visar jag hur forskning ger förslag på olika sätt att motarbeta islam i skolsituationer. Forskning visar på att det bästa sättet att motverka islamofobi i skolsituationer är samarbete, öppenhet och att man som lärare är väl förberedd, förstående och kunnig om islam. Forskning visar även att det är bra att ge muslimer plattformar att dela med sig av sina egna erfarenheter och att det är bra att elever får ta del av dessa erfarenhet på direkt manér. Det utforskas även snabbt hur användandet av studiebesök kan vara fruktbart för elevernas syn på islam och muslimer. Denna översiktens egentliga intention är att ge lärare förslag och idéer på hur potentiella problematiska situationer kring islamofobi kan hanteras och motverkas.

The research sought to examine social aspects and the legal implications of the transit of transvestites from Paraiba, Brazil to Italy. For this, semi-structured interviews with 8 transvestites aged 19 to 35 years old who prostitute themselves or have prostituted themselves in Italy and the observations were recorded in a field diary; through the collected data, we could put together experiences and perceptions and standards relating to human trafficking in Brazil; checking as the official speeches in Brazil, engendered in documents and interviews with the public authorities engaged in actions of investigative and judicial processes, expressed in laws, policies, and government actions, are consistent with strategies to control immigration in Europe, combining xenophobia and transphobia in order to contribute to the marginalization and criminalization of Brazilian transvestites involved in the European sex trade. It appeared that they repackage subjective and socially in displacement between the borders of an increasingly globalized world, and increasingly plastic bodies and increasingly fluid genders, organizing for both networks of solidarity and sociability by reputable speech officials as criminals, and, from this, we discussed the trafficking of humans from the collation of perceptions of transvestites trafficking, society and public managers. Their results enabled the (re) discussion of how this phenomenon has been discussed in order to afford those citizens not only protection but also freedom and respect.
A pesquisa buscou avaliar aspectos sociais e as implicações jurídicas do trânsito de travestis paraibanas para a Itália. Para isso, foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas com 8 travestis com idades entre 19 e 35 anos que se prostituem ou já se prostituíram na Itália e registradas observações em diário de campo; a partir dos dados depreendidos desse material, confrontaram-se vivências e percepções com normas e políticas atinentes ao tráfico de pessoas, no Brasil; verificando como os discursos oficiais no Brasil, engendrados em documentos e entrevistas realizadas junto a autoridades públicas empenhadas em ações de investigação e processos judiciais, expressos em normas, políticas públicas e ações governamentais, coadunam-se com estratégias de controle migratório na Europa, conjugando xenofobia e transfobia de modo a contribuir com a marginalização e criminalização de travestis brasileiras inseridas no comércio sexual europeu. Constatou-se que elas se reformulam subjetiva e socialmente no deslocamento entre as fronteiras de um mundo cada vez mais globalizado, entre corpos cada vez mais plásticos e gêneros cada vez mais fluidos, organizando-se para tanto em redes de solidariedade e sociabilidade reputadas pelo discurso oficial como criminosas, e, a partir disso, discutiu-se o tráfico de pessoas a partir do cotejo de percepções de travestis, sociedade e gestores públicos. Seus resultados possibilitaram e possibilitam a (re)discussão da forma como este fenômeno vem sendo abordado, de modo a assegurar a essas cidadãs não apenas proteção, mas também liberdade e respeito.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the Muslims integration in Sweden and the growth of Islamophobia in the Swedish society. To accomplish the understanding of the concept Islamophobia this essay examine different concepts that have associations to the Islamophobia concept. The purpose of this paper is to observe how the concepts are affecting the Muslim integration, along with what integration inconvenience they meet. The paper also examines how Muslims integrate in the Swedish society according to Islamic teaching and culture. What problems and possibilities do Muslims meet in Sweden and how are the difficulties taken care of? According to the research, Muslims have different difficulties in the integration process in Sweden. The essay gives us an understanding of these struggles Muslims deal with. And it also gives us an understanding of persons who agree with the Islamophobia conclusion and how it is affecting the Muslim people.


Möte med islamofobi och dess påverkan på muslimers integration undersöks i denna studie. Enligt denna uppsats skiljer det sig bland muslimer hur de väljer att integreras i det svenska samhället, detta beror främst på mångfalden muslimer i Sverige idag. Integrationssvårigheter muslimer kan stöta på i Sverige kan i vissa fall bero på islamofobin. Begreppet islamofobi kan enligt tidigare studier relateras till kulturrasism, xenofobi, antisemitism och orientalism. Dessa begrepp anses även av forskare ha många anknytningar till islamofobi och kallas därför för islamofobins släktbegrepp. Bland muslimer i Sverige dyker det upp både möjligheter och svårigheter i samband med integrationen. De möjligheter muslimer har idag är att det finns utrymme för muslimer att utöva sin religion i det svenska samhället. Dessutom finns det olika aktiva muslimska organisationer runt om i landet. Andra möjligheter i det svenska samhället för muslimer är att positiva utbyten och framgångar har gjorts i mötet med islam och muslimer. Integrationssvårigheterna för muslimer i Sverige kan bestå av att högtider samt böner inte alltid kan utföras enligt islams lära. Den muslimska bönen som görs på offentlig plats kan upplevas som främmande och stötande av människor i samhället. Muslimer kan inte alltid undgå islamofobi och främlingsfientlighet i samband med sin integration i det svenska samhället. Alla människor är förstås inte fientliga mot islam och muslimer i det svenska samhället. Tidigare forskningar talar om öppna och stängda uppfattningar om islam och muslimer, vilket innebär att man antingen är öppen för islam eller är mer sluten i sina uppfattningar. Till slutna uppfattningar om islam räknas ofta stereotypa uppfattningar om religionen och muslimer. Självklart kan man även samtidigt inneha båda stängda och öppna uppfattningar om islam. Stängda uppfattningar av islam och i det svenska samhället kan även bero på,  vilket är min teori i denna uppsats, att människor innehar för lite kunskaper om muslimer och Islam.

There are some clinical cases that compel the analyst to write about them as a means of working through the events experienced with a certain analysand. Thus, the present paperwork is, above all, the result of the analytical work with a boy and his family, considering the encounters and conflicts that we went through. A boy with a robotic way of walking, with a look that ran through anyone who stared at him and with serious problems of social interaction. During the sessions there were activities of pure, meaningless discharge, a toy house invaded by enemy warriors, lying down on the couch and sleeping soundly. A family who loved war games and movies, admired major dictators and listened to neo-Nazi songs. A German descent analyst trying to understand and to make sense of all these things. In order to try to understand the psychic way of functioning of this analysand and, to some extent, his family‟s as well as the contents that emerged during the analytical process, various concepts elaborated by Melanie Klein and the so-called post-Klein authors are used here as theoretical foundation. Furthermore, a detailed reflection on the way our analytic work was interrupted is presented, taking into consideration the complex short-circuit that came about in the transference and in the counter-transference. If, in the beginning, the identifications between the analyst and the analysand favored the establishment of the transference, they ended up severely obstructing the counter-transference. If we were supposedly alike, we eventually turned out to be totally different, it was no longer possible to keep on walking together. From this estrangement experienced in the analytic relationship, we take a further step to think about the dangerous chaining up between anguish upon facing the different, fear of the stranger/foreigner and, finally, hatred and urge to destroy him. For this purpose, the events that took place in Germany before and during World War II are used as illustrative examples
Há certos casos clínicos que convocam o analista a escrever como forma de elaborar psiquicamente as vivências experimentadas no trabalho com determinado analisando. Assim, o presente trabalho é fruto, acima de tudo, do encontro-desencontro analítico vivido no atendimento de um garoto e de sua família. Um menino com andar robótico, com um olhar que atravessava quem o mirava e com sérios problemas de interação social. Nas sessões, o que havia eram atividades de pura descarga sem sentido, uma casa de brinquedo invadida por guerreiros inimigos e deitar no divã e dormir profundamente. Uma família que adorava jogos e filmes de guerra, admirava grandes ditadores e escutava músicas neonazistas. Uma analista descendente de alemães, buscando entender e dar um lugar para tudo isso. Para tentar compreender o modo de funcionamento psíquico desse analisando e, em alguma medida, de sua família e os conteúdos que emergiram durante o processo analítico são utilizados aqui como referencial teórico diversos conceitos elaborados por Melanie Klein e pelos chamados autores pós-kleinianos. Além disso, é feita uma minuciosa reflexão sobre a maneira como o trabalho analítico foi interrompido, considerando o curto-circuito complexo que se formou na transferência e na contratransferência. Se, no início, as identificações entre analista e analisando facilitaram o estabelecimento da transferência, por fim, elas dificultaram muito a contratransferência. Se éramos supostamente iguais, passamos a ser totalmente diferentes, tornou-se impossível continuar caminhando juntos... A partir desse estranhamento experienciado na relação analítica, é dado um salto para pensar no perigoso encadeamento entre angústia perante o diferente, medo do estranho/estrangeiro e, por fim, ódio e desejo de destruí-lo. Para isso, os fenômenos ocorridos na Alemanha antes e durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial são tomados como exemplos ilustrativos

This thesis presents a research of Swedes view on sex tourism in Thailand. This research is showing how Swedes sees sex tourism in Thailand and what kind of thoughts they have about it. This research also shows the Swedish view on sex tourism in Thailand and how it differs from the view of the Swedish media and their opinion about the subject. Furthermore, this research shows that the view of this subject differs depending on the respondents’ experience of travelling in Thailand. It becomes more important to study this subject with increasingly numbers of Swedes travelling to Thailand and more people find a partner in the country. This has led to a growing minority of Thai people in Sweden, which has to live with the prejudices of the Swedes. That is why it is so important to show what this prejudices are and why they exist. This topic is rather hard to study because of the sensitivity of the subject as well as people’s fixed opinions regarding this subject. It is easy to make politics of the subject because of these strong opinions, but we have tried to stay away from these already fixed opinions and instead tried to observe other peoples fixed opinions and how these fixed opinions effecting Thai women living in Sweden. It is important to understand how people’s prejudices affect the view of a country especially when it comes to tourism development.

As discussões decorrem dos resultados obtidos através da análise de dois importantes momentos para a questão: os Programas de Tampere (1999) e Haia (2004). As análises desses e de outros documentos tangentes à problemática envolvendo os fluxos migratórios para a União Européia percorrem um caminho tortuoso, entre a necessidade de garantia dos direitos fundamentais e a preocupação extremada com a segurança do bloco político-econômico. O que se pretende, portanto, é destacar a institucionalização da securitização da imigração - e dos imigrantes - apontando os percursos pelos quais alguns órgãos da União, assim como os governantes nacionais e a opinião pública trilharam para tal consumação
Abstract: The work presented here is a study about the inconsistencies of setting up a European immigration policy. The issues stem from the results obtained through analysis of two important moments: the Programs of Tampere (1999) and Hague (2004). The analyses of those and other documents tangents to the problems surrounding the migration to the European Union through a tortuous path, between the need to guarantee fundamental rights and extreme concern with the security of political-economic bloc. En este trabajo se aborda cómo los videojuegos narran historias basadas en temas de problemas sociales, se analiza el juego Detroit: Become a Human (2018). Analizando desde la construcción del personaje desde su personalidad, creencias y vestimenta. También, cómo son los arcos narrativos y las acciones de los personajes aplicados en los videojuegos para contar estos temas de índole social. Y como última variable es analizar el contexto narrativo. Estos criterios serán basados en basado en la narrativa de Field y Mckee. En este trabajo, la metodología tiene un enfoque cualitativo, el cual se seleccionarán momentos específicos de las historias de los personajes Markus y Connor. Se analizarán en base al instrumento de investigación y los datos recolectados serán procesados en base al instrumento mencionado.
The research in this paper is about how videogames tells stories based on themes of social issues, the videogame analysed is Detroit: Become a Human (2018). Analyzing from the construction of the character his personality, beliefs and clothing. Also, how are narratives arcs and the actions made by the characters applied in videogames to tell these social issues. And as the last variable is analyze the narrative context. These criteria will be based on the narrative of Field and McKee. In this work, the methodology has a qualitative approach, which will select specific moments from the stories of the characters Markus and Connor. They will be analyzed based on the research instrument and the data collected will be processed based on the mentioned instrument.

Syftet med examensarbetet är att ta reda på hur bra skolböcker i samhällsorienterande ämnen lyckas förmedla en dynamisk och rättvis bild av Afrika. Mina frågeställningar är: Vilken bild av den afrikanska kontinenten och afrikanerna förmedlas av läroböckerna för högstadieelever? Hur dynamisk och mångfacetterad är egentligen den bilden? Ger läroböckerna en god möjlighet till en positiv identifikation med människor i Afrika? Hur skiljer sig denna bild från den som ges av den socialrealistiska afrikanska filmen Borom Sarret?

Läroboken är fortfarande ett viktigt strukturerande verktyg för läraren. Den styr till stor del fortfarande undervisningen på ett övergripande sätt. Trots detta är det inte många som verkar intressera sig för läroböckerna och deras utformning.

Lpo-94 nämner vikten av att förstå både det egna kulturarvet och delaktigheten i det gemensamma, om vikten av en stark identitet och en kulturell mångfald. Det bör rimligtvis innebära att man inte får försumma en hel kontinents kulturarv genom att enbart ta upp Afrikas historia när den varit viktig för Europas historiska utveckling. Detta är vad som sker i de allra flesta skolböcker.

Skolböckerna utgår alldeles för ofta från att vår kultur och vår utveckling är ett facit för hur andra länder bör se ut. De ger grovt generaliserande och stereotypa bilder av Afrika som ett enda stort u-land befolkat av anonyma afrikaner. Vi behöver en mer dynamisk och mindre generaliserande bild av Afrika och dess befolkning.

Resumo: Desde o início da década de 1990, os países-membros da União Européia tem se movido em direção a políticas e leis de imigração cada vez mais repressivas, punitivas e de amplo caráter discriminatório. A intensificação desta política bem como a militarização progressiva de suas fronteiras tem construído o fenômeno político denominado fortaleza Europa, constituído por muros reais e virtuais, pela vigilância constante tanto dos limites territoriais como do próprio espaço público e pelas práticas sancionadas pelos Estados de estigmatização dos imigrantes, refugiados e solicitantes de asilo com base em sua origem cultural, fenótipo e etnia. Neste contexto, o Estado italiano aparece como um caso exemplar desta nova política, pautada pela ótica da emergência, da exclusão de todos os seres considerados indesejáveis e pelo racismo de ordem cultural, que concebe o estrangeiro como incapaz de se adaptar aos valores ocidentais, sobretudo aos valores italianos. Esta dissertação tem como objeto a política italiana para imigração, cujo pilar principal é constituído pela instauração dos Centros de Permanência Temporária, espaço de exceção nos quais são confinados os imigrantes ilegais, refugiados e solicitantes de asilo, e nos quais se efetua a espoliação do estatuto jurídico destes seres, convertendo-os em não-pessoas. Nesse sentido, a análise destes espaços e da política que os criou pode ser capaz de revelar o sentido da reaplicação de esquemas racistas na configuração das relações sociais,bem como o lugar ocupado pelo paradigma da segurança e da exceção, nos quais se pautam diversos Estados europeus e que redefinem a política na atualidade
Abstract: Since the early 1990s, member states of the European Union (EU) have moved toward policies and immigration laws increasingly repressive, punitive and discriminatory. The intensification of these policies and the gradual militarization of EU's borders have built a political phenomenon called Fortress Europe, which consists of real and virtual walls, constant surveillance by both the territorial limits and the very public space and practices sanctioned by the States of stigmatization of immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers based on their cultural background, ethnicity and phenotype. In this context, the Italian State appears as a striking example of this new policy, guided by the optics of emergency, the exclusion of all beings that are considered undesirable, and by cultural racism that sees the foreigner as unable to adapt to Western values, especially Italian values. This thesis aims at Italian immigration policy, which main point is the establishment of Temporary Stay and Assistance Centers. These centers are states of exception in which illegal immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers are confined to, their legal status is spoiled, and thus, they are turned into non-persons. In this sense, the analysis of these states and the politics that created them may reveal the meaning of racist reapplication regimens in the social relations set, and the place occupied by the security and exception paradigm, in which several European States are governed redefining the political scene today

This thesis shows how misogynous and stereotypical images of women, which historically have been used to transform them into witches and monsters, are now reused in the construction of the term “batikhäxa” (“tie-dye witch”). Feminist and discourse theory form the framework of this study which includes the analysis of three opinion pieces, or political pamphlets, that were published between 2010 – 2018: "Batikhäxorna och makten" by the pseudonym Julia Caesar, "Refugee 'Children" & The Women Who Sexually Exploit Them" by the pseudonym Angry Foreigner and "De ansvariga för Sveriges kaos behöver en intervention för att ställas till svars " by Katerina Janouch. I use critical discourse analysis to study how discursive strategies are applied in these political pamphlets to delegitimate women, making them the scapegoats of society by use of the concept of the tie-dye witch. My thesis argues that the use of the tie-dye witch discourse reproduces patriarchal power relations by denying women the right to have and express their opinions, decide over their own bodies and exercise power in society. The tie-dye witch can therefore also be understood as an anti-feminist counterimage to the feminist witch who was established as a female role model in the 1960s. The study also uncovers the psychological function of the tie-dye witch as a female super monster who demarks the borders of nation, culture, religion, body and gender. In the studied texts, the tie-dye witch is constructed to separate "us" from "the others", and in doing so she also acts as a unifying figure in and of anti-feminist, islamophobic, xenophobic, nationalist and apocalyptic discourses.

This tesis focuses on the issue of xenophobia and the meaning of public opinion about xenophobia by the template of secondary data analysis. The primary source for presented analysis was the research of The Center of Independent Public Opinion Research of the year 2011, which focused among other things on topic of foreigners in Czech republic. The main purpose of this tesis is to discover and to verify tendencies and attitudes of major czech public to the topic of foreigners living in our country. Czech society's attitudes to minorities are relatively negative or xenophobic. Due to globalization is the number of immigrants in our society permanently rising and that's why it's necessary to prepare next generations, via multicultural education, to living in plural society and to respecting different ways of life. That's why I deal with the question, how multicultural education works in practice in my diploma thesis. The aim is trough qualitative research (document analysis and case study) find out activities of state, non-governmental sector and teachers and possible shortcomings in multicultural education. Another aim is to explore results of multicultural education that means knowledge of students and whether the number of minorities in school could affect multicultural education. This hypothesis wasn't validated and the research exposed that different number of minorities in school doesn't affect the education. However, what could negatively affect multicultural education are medium, unsuitable educational materials, unsatisfactory training of teachers and control of multicultural education in practice, causing that students are quite good informed on the one hand, nevertheless they got negative attitudes to minorities on the other hand.

Die kwalitatiewe navorsingsbenadering, tesame met die fenomenologiese, kontekstuele, verkennende en beskrywende navorsingsontwerpe was benut. Data is binne die raamwerk van Tesch se stappe vir kwalitatiewe data-analise geanaliseer. Guba se model vir data verifikasie is benut om die geldigheid van die studie te verseker. Die navorsingsbevindinge het die navorser in staat gestel om aanbevelings aan maatskaplike werkers te maak in terme van die oorsake van xenofobie, die rol van die maatskaplike werk professie rakende dienste aan slagoffers van xenofobie, tipe maatskaplike dienste wat aan slagoffers van xenofobie gelewer moet word en hulpbronne wat benodig word vir effektiewe dienslewering.
The goal of this study is to explore and describe the role of the social work profession regarding interventions aimed at victims of xenophobia in order to make recommendations to social workers. Participants were practicing social workers in the Cape Wineland Overberg District who provided family services. The qualitative research approach, together with the phenomenological, contextual, explorative and descriptive research designs, was implemented. Data was analysed within the framework of Tesch’s steps for qualitative data analysis. Guba’s model for data verification was used to ensure the validity of the data. The research findings assisted the researcher to make recommendations to social workers in terms of the causes of xenophobia, the role of the social work profession regarding services to victims of xenophobia, the type of services that should be rendered to these victims and resources needed for effective service delivery.

The diploma thesis is focused on helping children of immigrants with their integration into educational systems and even to their life in new country. The aim of my research is to link the theoretical and practical aspects of the issue of helping immigrant children in their difficult situation. The theoretical part covers the theoretical interpretation of difficult life situations in relation to the children of immigrants as a target group and their role in the future new home. It analyzes the problems of population migration, the emergence of ethnic minorities and the impact of those issues on the lives of children of immigrants. The thesis emphasizes the need of learning the language of the new home country as quickly as possible and also introduces programs of the Czech Republic and other European countries in the field of education of immigrant children. The empirical part consists of testimonies of immigrants' children gathered through field research and through interviews using a questionnaire. The practical outcome of this diploma thesis is to use the results in the creation of a project aimed at helping immigrant children.

Hate Crimes Abstract The author of this thesis discusses the issue of hate crimes according to the Act No. 40/2009 Coll., The Criminal Code, as amended, and related case law. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part is devoted to the definition of hate crime and related terms such as extremism, prejudice, race, anti-Semitism, nationalism and xenophobia. These concepts are important for the following interpretation and for the understanding of the existence of special protection in the context of hate crimes. The second part is devoted to the international regulation of hate crimes. Emphasis is places on the analysis of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The third and fundamental part of this master thesis analyzes hate crimes in the Czech Republic in the context of settled and current case law. In addition, examples of statements fulfilling the facts of individual crimes from practice are given. It describes the period of growing up, what features and reasons of xenophobia and racism appear among the teenage group. It characterizes a growing up person as a user of social services. This thesis focuses on attitudes of the majority population against immigrants on the national level. In selected countries of the European Union, these attitudes are analysed with the goal of confirming causality between heterogeneous make-up of the population (in terms of proportion of foreign-born residents in the population) and the degree of xenophobia of the majority population. The work is based on the concept of contact hypothesis and assumes that the larger the relative size of the population of foreign-born residents is, the more positive the attitudes of the majority population are. Attitudes of the majority populations are studied on two levels. First, through the opinions of the European Social Survey 2014 respondents, and second, by the election results of populist radical right-wing parties, which are typically associated with firm anti-immigrant policies. While the levels of xenophobia expressed by the ESS respondents partially fits the expected model, the connection between results of relevant political parties and the percentage of foreign-born residents in the population was not proven. The focus of this master thesis is the comparison of extreme football fans, more specifically ultras and hooligans in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland and the influence of the European migrant crisis on these groups. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the general characteristics of the hooligans subculture, its origins, and development will be described. Furthermore, the functioning of the extreme fan groups in the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic, i.e. Germany and Poland will be outlined. Moreover, the political stances of these countries on the issues related to the migrant crisis are depicted. These stances have a large impact on shaping of public opinions, including the aforementioned groups. The analytical part of this thesis consists of six interviews. These interviews should help with understanding the views on the migration of the members of the radical fan groups in the selected countries and moreover closely depict the hooligans scene across specific regions. The thesis explores the mobilization strategy of the non-systemic far right in Russia. The study focuses on two aspects of this phenomenon. First, it examines the mobilization strategy and second, it analyses its impact on the success of the far right's political demands. The thesis applies the theoretical concept of social movement and the classification of collective action by Sidney Tarrow. Mobilization is a complex issue that cannot be researched as an isolated event. For this reason, the thesis also focuses on the determinants that precede such mobilization and that, simultaneously,affect its form and strength. The thesis concludes that the most effective mobilization strategy is to concentrate on organizing disruptive and episodic actions in which the condition of the presence of an inter-ethnic conflict must be met. Among the typical features of such disruptive and episodic collective actions, the following can be listed: a requirement for displacement of the non-Russian population from the conflict area, the formation of local security and political strutures, and effective work with disinformation and media in general. This diploma thesis examines the suitability of generalization of the populist radical right parties (PRRP). In recent years, these parties have succeeded on the political scene of many European countries. Using the example of "new" Svoboda a přímá demokracie (SPD) political party and the established Danish People's Party (DF) it shows the differences in the party pre-election rhetoric and program, which are brought about by parties' age as well as by different historical developments in the respective countries. The historical context has affected contemporary political environment and, therefore, there are reasonable doubts about the generalization of the PRRPs. This is especially the case of post-communist countries, which, after years of oppression, had to go through a process of transformation that involved not only economic issues. This thesis is based on the Lipset's and Rokkan's cleavages theory, while it tries to confirm its existence in the given states, namely the economical, the religious, the center - periphery and the urban - rural cleavage. The transition, in 1994, in South Africa from an authoritarian ethno-nationalist Apartheid state where racial categories determined inclusion and exclusion to a liberal democratic state, raised the promise of greater inclusion within society. The post-Apartheid state formally abandoned racism and discrimination, at least in its legal sense. Paradoxically, in a context which enabled greater engagement with Africa, the new ‘Rainbow Nation’ with an emphasis on nation-building and emerging nationalism, led to manifestations of discrimination and exclusion of a different kind. An escalation in incidents of xenophobia within post-Apartheid South Africa has been fully documented. However, it could be argued, not all immigrants are subject to incidents of xenophobia. In the new South Africa, targeting the black African immigrant, in particular, has resulted in a new cycle of exclusion. As Nyamnjoh puts it these black African immigrants are associated with “the Heart of Darkness north of the Limpopo”. In contrast, foreign whites seem to be more acceptable in the new South Africa. Experiences of xenophobia and the concomitant exclusion and/or discrimination have been raced. African immigrants, however, are not a monolithic grouping. The dissertation argues that whilst all black African immigrants potentially experience xenophobia, socio-economic status may mitigate the extent and immediacy of this, as well as the ability to escape or avoid such experiences to some extent. Die “post-Apartheid” staat het rassisme en diskriminasie ten minste op wetlike-vlak, formeel afgeskaf. In 'n konteks wat groter verbintenis met Afrika moontlik gemaak het, het die nuwe "Reëboog nasie" met die klem op nasiebou, nasionalisme ontketen. Paradoksaal het dit tot manifestasies van diskriminasie en uitsluiting van 'n ander aard gelei. 'n Toename in die voorvalle van xenofobie in “post-Apartheid” Suid-Afrika is ten volle gedokumenteer. Tog kan dit aangevoer word dat, nie alle immigrante onderworpe is aan voorvalle van xenofobie nie. In die nuwe Suid-Afrika is dit gerig op die swart Afrika-immigrant, in die besonder. Dit het tot 'n nuwe siklus van uitsluiting gelei. Soos Nyamnjoh dit stel word hierdie immigrante van Afrika met die "Heart of Darkness north of the Limpopo" geassosieer. The presented thesis deals with current immigration crisis in Greece, which has not been examined in the Czech Republic so far. The macro-level analysis elaborates process of immigration to Greece with emphasis on the period 1990-2012. Causation of the immigration is clarified through historical-demographical, sociopolitical and legislative point of view. Greece was hit by immigration wave due to the process of globalization framework and the crisis is not inflicted exclusively by the Hellenic state. This is demonstrated by the elaboration of the European legislative system and the EU policy towards immigration. Contrary to this, the Hellenic failure regarding management of immigration policy is made of insufficient complexity and flexibility of national legislation and its slow development especially in 1990s. The other specific issue is rise of racism among Hellenes. Roots of xenophobia are examined by the conception of Hellenic nationality and historical-demographical method natural history, through which statistical data are put in the chronological order. Questões relacionadas à discriminação racial e educação tem sido objeto de um número crescente de publicações e estudos, favorecendo a abertura de espaços para discussões e busca de alternativas para minimizar o preconceito étnico-racial nas escolas. Desse modo, partindo-se da convicção de que o preconceito, usualmente incorporado e acreditado, é a mola central e o reprodutor mais eficaz da discriminação e de exclusão, o presente estudo teve como principal objetivo investigar junto aos alunos dos cursos integrados do IFS – Campus Aracaju- a atribuição de algumas características positivas ou negativas a pessoas com base nos estereótipos raciais, a fim de se orientar práticas pedagógicas docentes na superação de preconceitos e construção de valores. Utilizouse, neste trabalho, a abordagem de pesquisa de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa, com orientação bibliográfica, tendo o questionário como instrumento para coleta e análise de dados. Participaram da pesquisa 205 alunos, dos quais 85 (41,46%) são do sexo feminino, com idade variando entre 14 e 19 anos (Média= 16,04), e 120 (58,54%) do sexo masculino, estes apresentando idades situadas entre 14 e 21 anos (Média= 16,26), discentes dos Cursos Técnicos em Química, Eletrotécnica, Edificação, Informática e Eletrônica. Os resultados apontam que, na vivência do ambiente escolar, podem ser percebidos os mesmos preconceitos que prevalecem na sociedade, de onde se conclui que é necessária a adoção de novos métodos didáticos e práticas docentes que contemplem, com efetividade, esta problemática, de modo a fomentar a construção de uma sociedade menos desigual.
Issues related to racial discrimination and education has been the subject of a growing number of publications and studies, favoring the creation of spaces for discussion and search for alternatives to minimize bias in racial-ethnic schools. Thus, starting from the conviction that prejudice, usually built and believed, is the central spring and most effective player of discrimination and exclusion, this study aimed to investigate with the students in integrated courses of IFS - Campus Aracaju-allocation of some positive or negative characteristics to people based on racial stereotypes in order to guide pedagogical practices teachers in overcoming prejudices and building values. It was used in this work, the research approach is qualitative and quantitative-oriented literature, with the questionnaire as a tool for collecting and analyzing data. The participants were 205 students, of whom 85 (41.46%) were female, aged between 14 and 19 years (Mean = 16.04) and 120 (58.54%), presenting these ages are between 14 and 21 years (Mean = 16.26), students males in Courses technical Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Construction, Computing and Electronics. The results show that, in the experience of the school environment may be perceived the same prejudices that prevail in society, which concludes that it is necessary to adopt new teaching methods and teaching practices that address, with effectiveness, this issue, so encourage the construction of a less unequal society.
