This paper is a brief review of results of experimental and theoretical studies in the field of acoustics of nonequilibrium gas-plasma media. Highway 82 is located along the Gulf of Mexico and provides one of the barriers to flood damage from wave action that occurs normally along the coastal shoreline and as a result of wave surges during stormy weather and hurricanes. Simulation of fluid flow in porous materials depends upon the accuracy of permeability measurement. This study details the development of an acoustical method to determine permeability of porous medium. Standardized acoustical testing for low frequency using impedance tube is carried out to determine the acoustical properties of the fibers. The purpose of this Coastal and Hydraulics Engineering Technical Note (CHETN) is to outline experimental set up and the data collection process of an Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter (ADV) in a laboratory setting. The Nortek Vectrino ADV will be referenced in this CHETN as will the Nortek Comprehensive Manual for Velocimeters (Nortek AS 2018). Note that Nortek no longer sells the Vectrino, but the Vector, which is similar to the Vectrino aside from only having one configuration, is available.

Seton Lake is a freshwater fiord located in southwestern British Columbia, roughly 4 km west of Lillooet and 250 km north-northeast of Vancouver. Located in the Coast Mountains, it is an alpine lake about 22-km long and roughly 1-1.5 km wide. It is separated from nearby Anderson Lake, located to the west, by a large pre-historic rock avalanche deposit at Seton Portage.
