Abstract (sommario):
The project of world-making is carried out not only by professional world-makers, such as designers, architects, and manufacturers. We are all participants in this project through various decisions and judgments we make in our everyday life. Aesthetics has a surprisingly significant role to play in this regard, though not sufficiently recognized by ourselves or aestheticians. This paper first illustrates how our seemingly innocuous and trivial everyday aesthetic considerations have serious consequences which determine the quality of life and the state of the world, for better or worse. This power of the aesthetic should be harnessed to direct our cumulative and collective enterprise toward better world-making. Against objections to introducing a normative dimension to everyday aesthetics, I argue for the necessity of doing so and draw an analogy between everyday aesthetics and art-centered aesthetics which has dominated modern Western aesthetics discourse.

Abstract (sommario):
In addition to providing food benefits, urban agriculture also has aesthetic benefits. Therefore, a visual assessment of the urban agricultural landscape can be used to measure this aesthetic value. Gender preference is also carried out to see differences in visual assessment. This research was conducted in Makassar City using primary data with 129 respondents consisting of 53 people who had never been to Makassar and 76 people who had been/lived in Makassar. The aesthetic assessment of agricultural landscapes in Makassar City used the Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) method with a perceptual dimension. The results showed that the most beautiful urban agricultural landscapes had a high level of preference, namely in various plant gardens and verticultural hydroponic systems. Furthermore, the highest SBE score as a potential attraction was shown by male respondent who had never been to Makassar. Possible urban agricultural landscape resources should receive special attention by arranging them neatly and cleanly so that they have high artistic value to provide beauty and comfort for visitors.JEL Classification: C00; O13; Q19

Abstract (sommario):
<p>Wooden furniture is a cultural product that evolved hundred years ago in Indonesia. There are many types of wood species with high quality grow in Indonesia. In the 21st century, the level of demands for furniture is getting higher, and affecting the availability of the amount of wood. These conditions encourage furniture industry to seek for a wide variety of solid wood, processed wood and wood waste. Wood furniture has a role in the dynamic cultural development of Java Island, Indonesia, from the aspect of spiritual, philosophical, aesthetic and economic. This study aims to describe the transition in social and cultural values that occur in the use of wood materials in furniture, especially in Java. The transition will be described through the eyes of Material Cultural Studies, to show ecological aspects as a new aesthetic value. The method of data analysis is done through a diachronic viewpoint, by dividing the viewpoints into three time dimensions, i.e., the interpolation dimension (the past), the present time and the extrapolation dimension (the future). The interpolation and extrapolation dimensions are the approaches to analyze a set of data. Social culture phenomenon, development of trend technologies, and availability of wooden resources influence the transition of furniture value. Relation between availability of wooden resources have impact on design development. The result of this research are aspects of ecological needed on furniture design and the supporting variables. Therefore, concept of sustainable furniture design in Indonesia would be seen as an opportunity to maintain the continuity of wood.</p>

Abstract (sommario):
Image-based social networks are environments where users share their photographs and involuntarily contribute to evolve and to spread the meaning of things. For this reason, it is essential to use this source of information to determine how people perceive cultural heritage, specifically building heritage. These interactive spaces have a visual component that is essential to understand users’ perception of heritage architecture and that may also influence the dissemination of images. This research aims to describe the social concept of architectural heritage on Instagram and to explore whether the aesthetic appeal resources influence its dissemination. Images indexed to the hashtag #patrimonioarquitectonico (Spanish language version of #architecturalheritage) were collected for the period of three months (n = 180 images). A graphical and observational analysis was performed on categories of four variables of aesthetical appeal: human dimension, color, linear perspective and aesthetical quality. Subsequently, descriptive, cross-tabulation and variance analyses were applied. The findings have proven that regular users share a fairly heterogeneous vision of building types concerning architectural heritage, and that there are stakeholder accounts that could be altering their meaning due to strategies to protect residential areas. The paper describes how the aesthetic appeal variables add meaning to the social perception of the building heritage and which ones statistically influence its dissemination in terms of likes and engagement on Instagram.

Abstract (sommario):
WHO estimates health as complete physical, mental and social well-being. Clinical indicators of oral diseases are not entirely suitable to capture this concept of health. Standardized questionnaires have been developed to evaluate the physical, psychological, and social impact of oral conditions on an individual. Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) identifies the impact of oral health on aspects of everyday life in terms of a person’s functional, social, and psychological well-being. The oral health impact profile (OHIP) is widely used to measure OHRQoL in adults, its short version includes 14 items (OHIP-14). The aim was to investigate how self-reported and clinically-assessed parameters of oral health are related to OHRQoL measured by OHIP-14 in dental students of UMSA. 101 third- and fourth-year dental students aged 19–26 years attending UMSA in Poltava, Ukraine, took a questionnaire in Ukrainian. The first part of the questionnaire includes information on age, sex, self-assessed oral health, self-assessed dental aesthetic, satisfaction with mouth and teeth, and oral health behaviour. Questions on oral health behaviour included regularity of dental visits and frequency of tooth brushing. All these items were categorized into different groups. The question on dental aesthetic had the response option “difficult to answer”. When that response was chosen (n = 2 questionnaires), this data was considered missing and the students were excluded from the analysis. The second part of the questionnaire included the OHIP-14 to measure OHRQoL. There were seven dimensions of negative impact on OHRQoL: functional limitation, physical pain, psychological discomfort, physical disability, psychological disability, social disability, and handicap. There were two items for each dimension, which added up to a total of 14 items. Participants rated the frequency with which they experienced each of these items in the last 12 months using a 5-point Likert scale (“never” = 0, “hardly ever” = 1, “occasionally” = 2, “fairly often” = 3, and “very often” = 4). In addition, each item had the response option “I do not know”. When a student missed one answer or chose the option “I do not know” (for at least one item), the data was considered missing, and the student was excluded from the analysis (n=2). A clinical dental examination was performed. All permanent teeth were taken into consideration to measure dental caries experience using the DMF index. The Green-Vermillion index was applied for oral hygiene estimation. To assess the extent of gingivitis, the PMA index was used. The chi-square test was applied to compare the percentage of students with low and high OHRQoL between categories of self-reported oral health characteristics, and oral health behaviour. When comparing data on clinically-assessed oral health (the DMF, Green-Vermillion, and PMA indices), the Mann–Whitney U test was used for the two independent groups (with low and high OHRQoL). p-values<0.05 were considered as statistically significant. A total of 97 students were included in the statistical analysis, 43 of which were males and 54 were females. The highest mean scores in OHIP-14 were observed for the dimensions of physical pain (39,17%). Students with poor self-assessed oral health, poor self-assessed dental aesthetic, and who reported dissatisfaction with mouth and teeth more frequently fell into the group with low OHRQoL (p<0,05). The mean DMF was 5,41, Green-Vermillion hygienic index was 0,54, and РМА – 4,48%. However, a higher DMF index score, high Green-Vermillion index, and high PMA in students were not associated with low OHRQoL (р>0,5). In this study, the self-reported assessment of oral health affects the dental students' quality of life, while the clinical characteristics do not. Physical pain was the most frequently reported OHIP-14 dimension with an impact on OHRQoL. Poor self-assessed dental aesthetic and dissatisfaction with mouth and teeth were the strongest factors associated with low OHRQoL. The line of research pertaining to other parameters of oral health in youth that impact dental aesthetic and oral health, and thus oral health-related quality of life, is considered promising.

Abstract (sommario):
Case Report. An 8-year-old girl with amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) reported unsatisfactory aesthetics, difficulty in mastication, and dental hypersensitivity. The intraoral examination observed mixed dentition, malocclusion in anteroposterior relationships, anterior open bite, and dental asymmetry. A hypoplastic form of AI was diagnosed in the permanent dentition. A multidisciplinary planning was performed and divided into preventive, orthopedic, and rehabilitation stages. Initially, preventive treatment was implemented, with fluoride varnish applications, in order to protect the fragile enamel and reduce the dental sensitivity. In the second stage, the patient received an interceptive orthopedic treatment to improve cross-relationship of the arches during six months. Finally, the rehabilitation treatment was executed to establish the vertical dimension. In the posterior teeth, indirect composite resin crowns were performed with minimally invasive dental preparation. Direct composite resin restorations were used to improve the appearance of anterior teeth.Follow-Up. The follow-up was carried out after 3, 6, 12, and 18 months. After 18 months of follow-up, The restoration of integrity, oral hygiene, and patient satisfaction were observed .Conclusion. Successful reduction of the dental hypersensitivity and improvement of the aesthetic and functional aspects as well as quality of life were observed.

Abstract (sommario):
During odontogenesis, enamel is normally synthesized as an extracellular matrix, a phenomenon known as amelogenesis. The failure of this process can lead to malformation of dental enamel, called Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI). AI, by causing a qualitative and/or quantitative deficiency of dental enamel, presents characteristics such as hypersensitivity, unsatisfactory aesthetics, reduced vertical dimension, anterior open bite, plaque accumulation, and greater susceptibility to caries and gingivitis. Thus, our objective is to report a case of AI, describing the main characteristics of the disease, the diagnosis and the rehabilitative treatment plan, aiming to improve the patient's aesthetics and reestablishing the function of the stomatognathic system. Patient M.A.S.B., female, 5 years old, leucoderma, was admitted at the University of Patos de Minas Dental Clinic with a complaint of pain in the teeth. During the clinical interview, the person in charge reported that the child's teeth had the same defects as those of her mother and brother. During clinical examination it was observed: generalized loss of tooth structure, color change, rough surfaces and hypersensitivity. Treatment involved restorations with glass ionomer cement and composite resin, extraction of residual roots from the maxillary incisors, and confection of a functional and aesthetic space maintainer. Early diagnosis associated with the correct treatment plan is essential for a more conservative approach focused on preventing the effects of AI. In advanced cases, restoring function and aesthetics is paramount to improve the patient's quality of life.

Abstract (sommario):
Studies were conducted from January to November of 2005 to determine the effect of root-cutting length on adventitious shoot yield and the management practices necessary to produce nursery-quality blackberry plants. The first portion of the study measured the average number of shoots produced from 7.6 and 15.2 cm long root cuttings of APF-44 blackberry—a primocane-fruiting clone (not available in commerce) from the University of Arkansas breeding program. Cuttings were forced in a shallow bin containing soilless potting media. The average number of shoots per root cutting from 7.6- and 15.2-cm-long root cuttings averaged 1.6 and 2.7 shoots per root cutting, respectively. Rooting percentage of shoots was near 100% regardless of root cutting length and produced rooted plants of equal quality. The latter part of the study included various treatments on the rooted shoots that might affect the productivity and quality of the final product intended for nursery sales in early fall. With the aim of producing a flowering/fruiting shrub by late September, three treatments were applied: pot dimension, fertilizer rate, and shoot tipping. Fertilizer rate had the greatest impact of all treatments. Above normal summer/fall temperatures may explain lack of fruiting on APF-44 blackberries, but the dimension and size of some plants provided a portion of the intended aesthetic.

Abstract (sommario):
Smartphone users are striving for easy-to-learn and use mobile apps user interfaces. Accomplishing these qualities demands an iterative evaluation of the Mobile User Interface (MUI). Several studies stress the value of providing a MUI with a pleasing look and feel to engaging end-users. The MUI, therefore, needs to be free from all kinds of structural aesthetic defects. Such defects are indicators of poor design decisions interfering with the consistency of a MUI and making it more difficult to use. To this end, we are proposing a tool (Aesthetic Defects DEtection Tool (ADDET)) to determine the structural aesthetic dimension of MUIs. Automating this process is useful to designers in evaluating the quality of their designs. Our approach is composed of two modules. (1) Metrics assessment is based on the static analysis of a tree-structured layout of the MUI. We used 15 geometric metrics (also known as structural or aesthetic metrics) to check various structural properties before a defect is triggered. (2) Defects detection: The manual combination of metrics and defects are time-consuming and user-dependent when determining a detection rule. Thus, we perceive the process of identification of defects as an optimization problem. We aim to automatically combine the metrics related to a particular defect and optimize the accuracy of the rules created by assigning a weight, representing the metric importance in detecting a defect. We conducted a quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed tool in computing metrics and detecting defects. The findings affirm the tool’s reliability when assessing a MUI’s structural design problems with 71% accuracy.

Abstract (sommario):
The chemistry- and physics-based approach of conservation has led to the view that conservator-restorers use quantitative criteria which provide objective choices. Today, however, there is a shift of focus from material-centred to people-oriented approaches within the field of heritage preservation. This shift leads to a redefinition of the conservation-restoration field and its ethics in relation to society and calls for the adoption of diverse methodologies. Within this context, this paper discusses the qualitative factors which inform decision-making processes in conservation-restoration practice. More specifically, the paper examines the case of the so called “Tower of the Winds” in Athens and looks at the quality parameters which informed conservation-restoration work carried out at the Tower during 2014-2015. Overall, it is shown that the prominence of the quality parameters which inform contemporary conservation-restoration practice reveals the subjective dimension of conservation-restoration choices. The research has also showed that current trends tend to emphasize the historical rather than the aesthetic or other values of monuments.

Abstract (sommario):
To say ‘on the contrary’: On self-creation - when life and narration mergeIn Brink’s novel, Inteendeel (On the Contrary) of 1993, Estienne Barbier rewrites his life while imprisoned in the Dark Hole. A close relationship between life and narration thus develops. This problematic relation is often foregrounded in metafictional texts. On the one hand, mimetic representation of reality is undermined, while on the other, the textuaiity, the linguistic quality of life, is emphasized. The dialogic character of self-creation prevents this metafictional text, in which self-creation also plays an important role, from being narcissistic. It is also argued that self-creation and metafictional comments are processes by means of which the aesthetic dimension and life merge, with the hope of creating a more humane world.

Abstract (sommario):
Corporate standards of appearance based on the strategy of positioning the organization, implementing a number of aesthetic factors, which include gender characteristics. The style of corporate standards of appearance is determined largely by the severity of the characteristics on a scale of masculinity —femininity. Masculine type of clothing is perceived as a purely functional and business. Key features of normative masculinity in clothes are the elements of status. Today the masculine type of clothing is increasingly in demand in the corporate standards of organizations that impose strict requirements for staff appearance. Standards of feminine type are associated primarily with taboo or propaganda of sex symbols in staff appearance. It can be successfully implemented in those spheres of business where the quality of beauty, strength and youth act as a competitive advantage (firms operating in the market of entertainment and gaming services, the industry of sports, modeling), or where competitive advantages are based on care, empathy, communication skills (organization of welfare service, preschool and school education, and others). Unidentified type embodies the style unisex as a means of &#34;raising&#34; of women to men. That type of gender may be relevant to areas of business where there is an absolute erasure of gender roles, such as sports or IT technology. Androgynous type is a structure that includes elements of traditional male and female clothing. This type is used in the areas of business where competition is based on combining the standards of masculinity and femininity at the same time, for example, service, tourism and other similar activities.

Purpose. Evaluation of results after one-time incisional hernia repair (IHR) modo on-lay and abdominoplasty (Ab-pl) in patients after loss of weight following previous Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass – RYGB and analysis of changes in quality of life (QL) in bariatric patients before RYGB, as well as before and after abdominal contouring operation. Material and Methods. Clinical analysis involved 20 patients with abdominal disfigurement (following RYGB, and massive weight loss) who underwent one-time IHR using on-lay method together with Ab-pl. We estimated postoperative results, as well as changes in QL, before RYGB and before and after abdominal contouring procedure (based on DAS 24 and SF-36 scales). Results. Complications - abnormal wound healing (infection, local necrosis) were found in two persons, seroma in 2 cases, respiratory decompensation in two, whereas dysesthesia in four patients (permanent - 2, transient – 2). Estimation of the quality of life revealed significant improvement in the functional, aesthetic and psychological aspects after one-time abdominal surgery. In relation to patient’s QL estimation before RYGB, we found improvement by 39.7 % and 61.6 % - aesthetically (DAS 24), 64.6 % and 94.9 % - functionally (in SF-36 physical dimension), 66.7 % and 78.9 % - psychologically ( in SF-36 mental dimension). Conclusions. One stage on-lay hernia repair and abdominoplasty is a safe method improving the functioning of patients. All stages of bariatric treatment resulted in gradual improvement of the quality of life. Reduction of the risk of BMI re-growth after bariatric surgery is related to the need for constant, specialized care for these patients, regardless of the stage of their postbariatric follow-up.

Abstract (sommario):
In the last two decades, both general and oral health status became more important for individuals, being associated to their quality of life, social provenance and income. Societys evolution is associated to high expectations regarding edentulous and decays treatment. Metal filling such as gaudent or amalgam have been replaced by aesthetic materials, to achieve similarity to the patients genuine biological tissue. Along with the aesthetic demand, dental materials have to fulfill biocompatibility and mechanical properties proximate to healthy soft either hard tissues. Composite materials have the advantages of accomplishing biological and mechanical demands and to be accessible financially, compared to ceramics. Composites are classified according to the main monomer, filling, particles dimension, addition of external molecules, this entirety having a direct influence on materials properties. The objective of this prospective interventional in vitro study was to evaluate biomechanical properties of four different hybrid composites: Premise direct™ - Premise indirect™ (Kerr, Orange, California, USA), Gradia Direct (GC, Alsip, Illinois, USA) and Ceramage (SHOFU Dental, Ratinger, Germany). Vickers microhardness, compressive strenght, direct tensile strenght, water absorption and solubility were assessed. The results showed that microfilled hybrid composites UDMA (urethane dimethacrylate)-based monomer had the highest evaluations regarding Vickers microhardness, compressive strenght and tensile strenght, whereas water absorption was the highest for nanofilled hybrid Bis-GMA (bisphenol A-glycidyl methacrylate)/TEGDMA (triethylene glycol dimethacrylate), and solubility for microfilled hybrid UDMA based monomer.

Enchantment of still life Photography is often seen from the unique side of the real object. Obsolete objects age consumed by the photographer is commonly chosen as a photo object. In addition to reviving memories of these objects, old artifacts are always interesting to see because they are rarely found today. Photographs of identical objects with art photographs are created to meet the aesthetic satisfaction of the photographer and are free from commercial purposes. Abstract (sommario):
Sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) or eco-drainage system has been implemented in developed countries. The aims of the construction of the system are: to minimize surface runoff by capturing and temporarily retain it, to improve the quality of surface runoff, to infiltrate stormwater, to increase evapotranspiration, and to enhance landscape aesthetic value. Learning from the success of the implementation of SUDS in developed countries, the paper presents a model of eco-drainage system for residential area in Indonesia, which consists of rainwater harvesting system (RWHS) and retention ponds. A simulation of stormwater and surface runoff utilization is also presented. At 14,602.26 m2 bare land in Mojokerto Regency, East Java, which is transformed into residential area, the model of eco-drainage system could reduce surface runoff volume almost by 70%. It is recommended to adjust the dimension of rainwater storage tank and retention ponds in order to reduce more surface runoff volume.

Abstract (sommario):
It is proved in the article that at the current stage of development of artistic and pedagogical education its traditional principles of development that are oriented at acquiring of knowledge, formation of experiences and skills, range of competences are established. It is defined that the new requirements are imposed on a teacher in the context of innovational approaches as follows: the modern society needs professionals who can perform professional functions and will be ready from the beginning of professional activity to manifest professionalism, competences in formation of the generation with a high level of aesthetic culture, values and ethical orientations. Methodological aspects of formation of scenically-shaped culture of future teachers of the musical art are highlighted. The concepts of methodological approaches in the context of problem formation of scenically-shaped culture of future teachers of the musical art are disclosed. It is defined that among the leading methodological approaches that determine the essence of scenically-shaped culture of a teacher of the musical art are cultural, axiological, competence-based and hermeneutic ones that enables definition of the corresponding professionally- meaningful quality, professional competence that allow a specialist to master the content of a musical composition as a particular cultural phenomenon, to consider it as synthesis of spiritual, emotional and aesthetic experience of humankind on the basis of interpretation of its artistic and sense dimension to build its scenic image and to relay it to the pedagogical, performing and vocal activities. This quality manifests itself in orientation on artistic image interpretation through a scenic image on the basis of universal and national culture experience, personal life and professional experience, value orientation in command of interpretative skills, vocal and acting techniques, pedagogical talent in decoding of shaped system of a musical composition through the mediation of a stage image, manifold quality, structural components of which are motivational and empathetic, cognitive and educational together with creative and active. Keywords: future teachers of the musical art; methodological foundations; scenically-shaped culture; cultural approach; axiological approach; hermeneutical approach; competency-based approach; image.

"Implant-based multiplane breast augmentation—a personal surgical concept for dynamic implant–tissue interaction providing sustainable shape stability". European Journal of Plastic Surgery 44, n. 5 (23 aprile 2021): 609–23. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00238-021-01816-2.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Background The aesthetic long-term stability in shape, symmetry, and natural appearance of an aesthetically augmented breast remains a constant challenge. It has become clear that the results depend strongly on the technique applied and the experience of the surgeon. An ongoing controversy concerns the positioning of the implants. Subglandular, submuscular, partial submuscular, and subfascial pockets have different tradeoffs and advantages. However, secondary deformity, unnatural feel, and appearance are not addressed uniformly. The aim of the following study was to establish a standard procedure allowing for the desired and reproducible results to provide long-term stability and aesthetic quality. Methods The authors have developed a standardized dissection of a dynamic implant pocket. In this approach, a submuscular dissection with lower and medial release of the pectoralis muscle is combined with a wide subfascial release of the breast gland and a scoring of the deep plane of the superficial glandular fascia. In the final step, the deep layer of the glandular fascia is sutured tightly and firmly to the deep layer of the abdomino-pectoral fascia. A total of 867 patients received a 4D pocket–based breast implant by the authors. A subset of 33 patients was further analyzed for long-term results. Retrospectively, all data were analyzed from the electronic patient information system and files of patients using GraphPad 8. For comparison of multiple experimental groups, one-way ANOVA was performed where indicated. Results The concept not only addresses the biplanar approach of submuscular implant placement (3D) but adds the 4th dimension (4D) of an aesthetically pleasing dynamic shape of the augmented breast providing long-term stability. Measurements—taken at 3 months, and 1, 2, 3, 5, and ≥ 7 years post augmentation—for SN-N, N-IMF, N-ML, and MC-N distances did not show any significant changes over time. In the patient cohort of 867 patients (1734 implants), the overall complication rate was < 5%. Revisions for bleeding were below 0.5%. Shape stability was observed over 7 years in more than 95% of the patients. Conclusions Our results indicate that our technique of multiplane breast augmentation provides long-term stability and aesthetic quality. It may solve some of the existing tradeoffs of the different methods by combining the benefits of each technique supported by an additional shaping through a controlled deep fasciotomy. Level of evidence: Level IV, therapeutic study.

Abstract (sommario):
Head and Neck osteosarcoma is an uncommon disease. Hitherto, the treatment is surgical resection and survival is influenced by the presence of free margins. However, the dimension of the resection may represent a hurdle for an adequate Quality of Life (QOL). Maxillofacial district is a narrow space where the function, esthetics and patient’s relational skills fit together like the gears of a clock. The functional results depend on the type of reconstruction and prosthetic rehabilitation that are both important to guarantee a good aesthetic result and finally increase the patient’s self-esteem. This study aims to report our experience about head and neck (HN) osteosarcoma focusing the attention on reconstructive and dental-rehabilitative problems. It is a retrospective study all patients were surgically treated in our department. Subjects with histological diagnosis of HN osteosarcoma, treated between 2005 and 2017 were included. The demographic characteristics, surgical treatment, eventually secondary reconstruction and prosthetic rehabilitation, performed in the same department, have been collected. The QOL was assessed through the EORTC QLQ-H&N35 (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Head and Neck 35) questionnaire. Fifteen patients were enrolled, eight received a free flap microsurgical reconstruction. Dental rehabilitation was performed in five cases and a mobile prosthesis was always delivered. Eighteen implants were inserted in fibula bones for three patients; highly porous implants were used.

Lajic-Mihajlovic, Danka. "The temporal dimension of epic songs". Muzikologija, n. 6 (2006): 343–64. http://dx.doi.org/10.2298/muz0606343l.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
Since research into south-Slav epic songs began, finding its place within philological sciences, the musical component has been marginalized. In extreme cases the correlation between poetry and music was even denied. In the relatively few (ethno)musicological works dealing with the epic songs that correlation was observed mainly on the macro-formal level. The author maintains that any systematic research of the functional melopoetic structure of Serbian epic songs should include the temporal features of music. The article is an essay on the methodology in which the poetry?music relationship is investigated from the point of view of their temporal dimension. The flow of music?poetry content is observed from the perspectives of tempo and rhythm, primarily as relations between durations on different structural levels. The chosen examples consist of two variants of an epic song, typical of their kind, which have the same subject and structural bases. The performers were two gusle-players, so that the performing bodies were the same. In the course of analysis, focus was directed on the musical equivalents of elements of poetic structure considered to be constant, or at least showing strong tendencies towards expression in verse forms. The analysis demonstrated that the musical component was the critical value needed to differentiate the systems of relations between the poetic and musical components, i.e. styles of interpretation. The chosen individual styles represent contrasting approaches to the organization of the poetic content in time. Although the temporal dimension in both examples is semanticised, its values in those styles are diametrically different. At one extreme a construction is found in which the relation of morphological unit values on poetical and musical levels demonstrates a specific interaction on the structural level. The symmetry on the macro plan depends on the constancy of the verse length, but it cannot be maintained that music is fully in the service of poetry. The reason for that is to be found mainly in the (isochrone) basis of the melopoetic, i.e. musical rhythm that, contrary to expectation (in view of the primary function of epic songs), is not achieved according to the dynamics of speech. The causes of such non-correspondence could be detected in the archaic links of epic songs with genres possessing characteristic rhythms of movement, first of all with rituals belonging to the death cycle, and/or changes in the prosody of the Serbian language. The other extreme is to be found in a style that represents, in a certain way, a quality development in the process of transferring the structural center of gravity from poetry to music. It should be added that in the course of that process the semantics of that style?s temporal dimension on the macro-plan stays in closest relation with the structure of verse and syntax. The key no correspondence of durations of spoken and sung syllables demands wider elaboration of the relation between the rhythm of poetry and music. While not denying the importance of regional differences, the author finds more probable the hypothesis that the key differences between the researched styles are linked to their development, from sin practical to sin logical "from representation to understanding", i.e. the hypothesis of the polystadiality of Serbian epic tradition. The application of the results of this research on a wider historical/stylistic scale should be approached cautiously, not only because of the scope of the given examples, but primarily because of links with the problematic chronology of the musical-aesthetic phenomena of symmetry and asymmetry, the "evolutive" and "architectonic" principles of structural construction.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose This paper aims to investigate the effect of hotel aesthetics as represented in online spaces (e.g. online travel agency website) in prospective guests’ evaluation of expected service quality and booking intentions, as well as the interplay between aesthetic and functional values as related to those outcomes. Design/methodology/approach A scenario-based experimental design is conducted with 203 Chinese respondents. A between-subject two-way multivariate analysis of covariance (high vs low aesthetic value; high vs low functional value), which also controlled for respondents’ individual tendency to appreciate beauty, is used. Findings Results show that high aesthetic value hotels are more likely to be booked and perceived as able to deliver better services in SERVQUAL dimensions of tangibles, reliability and assurance. There are no significant effects for responsiveness and empathy. Given the presence of the aesthetic effect, hotel functional value has no impact on the outcome variables. Practical implications Hotel managers are recommended to employ professional photographer-artists who are aware of the aesthetic value of hotels and can translate this value into information technology-mediated spaces. Such professionals should be able to create a composition that balances the elements of classic (e.g. symmetry vs asymmetry) and expressive (e.g. color) aesthetics. Originality/value This research brings out a number of insights from the product experience literature in the hospitality context and points to the limitations of the product visual attractiveness in engendering positive service quality evaluation.

Abstract (sommario):
In 1985 Franco Fortini wrote provocatively that poetry for children does not exist, arguing that it is alien to their ability to fully grasp its expressive significance. However, there had already been the experience of Gianni Rodari, from whose contribution the critical and historiographic reflection on an authorial (and quality) poetic word addressed to childhood cannot be ignored: he had placed linguistic game at the center of poetry for children, combining the lesson of French surrealism with the Italian futurist experience of Palazzeschi and he consciously placed himself along that modern poetic line that sees a flowering of great importance especially in the post-war period. It is a type of poetry that is enriched by the contribution of a playful and divergent dimension and that knows how to speak the language of children: the rhythm, the assonance, the rhyme, but also the associative procedures grafted through the surrealist techniques naturally meet the child animus and at the same time open to an articulated, plural dimension, rich in ethical and political tension. Along this trajectory of linguistic experimentalism masterfully inaugurated by Rodari, the contribution intends to identify the paths of other authors in the proposal of a poetry aimed at children that is innovative and valid on a content and formal level: the reference is to Roberto Piumini and Pietro Formentini in particular, who have recognized, in poetry for children and young people, a vast and welcoming space for exploration and expressive freedom, but also, more recently, to the refined research of poetesses such as Chiara Carminati and Silvia Vecchini, whose poetic production is constantly embellished by a reflective work of undoubted charm and of notable interest for the investigation on a literary, aesthetic, educational level.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper aims to explicate and examine one of the poems written by Goenawan Mohamad, Poem No. 15, which is included in his poem and poetic essay collection entitled Tuhan dan Hal-hal yang Tak Pernah Selesai, which was translated into On God and Other Unfinished Things by Laksmi Pamuntjak by applying Reiss’ method. This method scrutinizes the translation shift, especially the expression shift and the intralinguistic criteria comprising semantic, lexical, grammatical, and stylistic features. As a creative composition and a piece of literary work that illuminates the imaginative, emotional, and intellectual experience and creativity of its author, a poem is classified in the expressive text type based on Reiss’ text-type category. The result shows that there are several intralinguistic criteria and stylistic features maintained and also modified by the translator in the English translation of Goenawan Mohamad’s Poem No. 15 in On God and Other Unfinished Things, that is done not only to preserve the aesthetic dimension of the language used in the poem but also to fulfill the expressive function of the text. By employing various translation shifts and metaphor translation to make the target text more natural, preserving the relevant aspects of the semantic content, and taking the standpoint of the author in translating the poem, the English translation of Poem No. 15 can fulfill its quality assessment required by its expressive text type.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT Introduction: Research in Orthodontics has historically followed the positivist model based on the direct relationship of cause and effect between diseases and their specific etiological factors. Despite the objectivity and the great potential of statistical procedures, quantitative methods have progressively been sharing space with other models that can encompass the multiplicity of factors that affect the health-disease process, which until such time was reduced to its biological dimension. Objectives: This study aims, through an integrative review, to identify orthodontics articles published over a 10-year period that have used, exclusively or not, some method of qualitative research, and analyze the main aspects of their content. Methods: A survey was performed on Pubmed, Medline, Scopus, and Lilacs databases from 2007 to 2016 with a focus on the applicability of the qualitative methodology in orthodontic research. Results: The 27 articles selected showed a trend to increase in publications, with the most recent four years concentrating almost 60% of them. Most studies were from Europe, particularly the UK, and the more frequent study objectives were related to the perception of people about the reasons for orthodontic treatment, about the aesthetic and psychosocial impact of malocclusion or orthodontic treatment, and the implications of these factors for their quality of life. Conclusions: Because of its potential to explore behaviours and socio-cultural attitudes sustained in subjectivity, qualitative research offers new possibilities for orthodontic studies and can be used in an exclusive or complementary way in relation to quantitative methods.

Abstract (sommario):
The article highlights important issues of national state-building processes in the context of growing external information aggression, new challenges and social threats; socio-pedagogical approaches to optimization of the essence of information and communication educational policy have been grounded. It has been proved that state and civil society should pay much more attention to the formation of healthcare- saving environment, its high-quality social, moral and ethical, spiritual, ecological characteristics; it forms psychology of people and individuals on the basis of positive "I-concept". It has been determined that the values of education, intelligence, gentlehood of Ukrainian nation are distinguished in the humanistic priority and strategic task of the state. Those approaches are regularity of global and national processes, as the UN among the 17 main indicators of the world’s development has identified education as the cornerstone of progress, security, and survival of humanity. The author has come to the conclusion that the Strategy of sustainable development of the country and national security should be based on human-centered policy with the recognition of a personality as the highest social value, the active formation, preservation and optimal usage of high quality human capital, the ethical synergy of a personality and nature for the prosperity of nation and the strengthening of statehood. This paradigm should become the quintessence of the Law of Ukraine "About Education" at the level of its practical implementation. An effective means of achieving this socially important task is the bases of a continuous community-state dialogue. It has been stated that the methodology of education is spiritual and material culture of Ukrainian people and humanity. It will depend on the fact, what socio-cultural and socio-political environments the nation will be brought up in, how safe, cultural, natural, spiritual, moral and aesthetic will be the information and communication dimension for ethical living. Economics and social status of teachers, information space and lawmaking, political will and educational motivation of society not indirectly, but directly affect the quality of training and education for citizenship. Extremely strong interconnectedness of the mentioned factors with the education obliges the state and civil society to pay much more attention to the formation of healthcare-saving environment, high-quality social, moral and ethical, spiritual, ecological characteristics.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The success of e-commerce websites depends on their effective communication and influence on their users. At first glance, the users are impressed by the website design and, if inspired, they would continue their operations on the website. This paper aims to evaluate the effects of visual aesthetic of the Web pages on users’ behavior in online shopping environment. In particular, the paper aims to evaluate the elements of visual aesthetic on the organism variables (i.e. “satisfaction,” “arousal,” “perceived on-line service quality” and “trust”) and measure them on the users’ response (i.e. purchase, comparison and re-visit). Design/methodology/approach Using the stimulus–organism–response (S-O-R) framework, the authors first assessed direct and indirect effects of visual aesthetics of e-commerce websites on customer responses. Then, the Visual Aesthetics of Websites Inventory (VisAWI) method was used to examine the effects of four dimensions (i.e. craftsmanship, simplicity, diversity and colorfulness) on users’ perceived website aesthetics. To do so, DigiKala.com, a famous Iranian e-commerce website was selected and the questionnaires were distributed among its users. Findings The study results revealed that the website aesthetics in the S-O-R evaluation had the greatest direct impact on “perceived quality of online services,” “trust,” “satisfaction” and “arousal,” respectively. These variables also indirectly affected “shopping,” “revisit” and “comparison to similar products on other websites.” Regarding the evaluations based on the VisAWI, the component “craftsmanship” played the most central role in expressing the website aesthetics, followed by the variables “simplicity,” “diversity” and “colorfulness,” respectively. Originality/value Although the considerable effect of Web aesthetics on customers’ purchase behavior has been identified in previous research, it has not been accurately measured. Furthermore, studies on Web aesthetics are mostly limited to information systems’ users and do not concern consumers. Therefore, considering the increasing growth in online shopping and the significance of Web aesthetics to online consumers, investigating how consumers respond to Web aesthetics is of vital importance.

Abstract (sommario):
This study examined the proposition that the hedonic context within which paintings are viewed interacts with the hedonic quality of paintings to determine aesthetic evaluation. Hedonic context was manipulated using twelve positive and twelve negative odor cues in three different formats (odor alone, odor + name, name alone). The hedonic quality of paintings was manipulated using six positive, six negative and twelve neutral emotionally toned paintings. Twenty-four males and twenty-four females viewed each painting in the context of a different cue with half of the emotional cue-painting trials being hedonically congruent (e.g., pos-pos) and half hedonically incongruent (e.g., neg-pos). Following each cue-painting trial subjects provided their evaluations of the paintings along artistic (e.g., artistic quality, visual complexity) and subjective-emotional (e.g., personal meaningfulness, pleasantness, tense-relaxed) dimensions. As predicted, all aesthetic evaluations were intensified when the cue and painting were hedonically congruent. Moreover, evaluations of the most emotionally potent painting group (negative paintings) were least influenced by context, and women were more sensitive to congruency and emotional context in general than were men. The results were interpreted in accordance with prior research and principles in experimental psychology and aesthetics.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose Perceived value and customer loyalty have been studied jointly in most of services literature but mainly through SEM models. This paper aims to draw on the literature on the multidimensional richness of perceived value, to adopt a segmentation approach and explore segments of loyal consumers towards the service provider based on their value perceptions. Design/methodology/approach A survey was conducted among 460 Spanish consumers interviewed at the store exit of seven retail chains in two sectors (grocery and home furnishing). A CHAID analysis was performed on loyalty responses, through nine value dimensions (efficiency, service quality, product quality, emotional value, value for money, social value, aesthetic value, escapism and ethics). Findings Results show the existence of different groups of loyal customers based on the nine value types. Efficiency is prioritised by the most loyal customers in grocery but not for home furnishing. Emotional value and aesthetics, along with product quality determine the most loyal segments. Practical implications Retailers should focus on enhancing those value dimensions that better explain customer loyalty towards retail stores in their area of specialisation, combining not only tangible and intangible elements but also functional and emotional elements. Originality/value The paper adds to the prolific research on perceived value in services with a diachronic graphical review of value dimensions in retailing; furthermore, the range of value dimensions studied here is wider than most of previous works using dimensions of value in services.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This study was designed to determine the quality of service through the evaluation of hospitalized patients. An analysis of hospitalized patients’ subjective feelings towards service quality was carried out, in the context of the application of the SERVQUAL method. The pilot study was conducted in a Silesian hospital in a group of 29 young patients (women: 16, men: 13, average age: 16) diagnosed with kidney disease. The study used a standard sheet of 22 SERVQUAL statements and an analysis of the significance of the 5 areas of quality material important for the patient. According to the respondents, the most important of the 5 features that influence the quality of life is the ability of the ward staff to provide adequate medical services (24.48%.) The least important were the aesthetics and ergonomics of rooms (15.31%). Service quality gaps were seen in all the five dimensions as well as in the overall service quality. Hence, the following conclusions could be made: 1. The SERVQUAL method helps to identify discrepancies between perceptions of patients’ expectations in all the dimensions of quality of medical services. 2. For patients, the least important is the material dimension, whereas the one most affecting them is the dimension associated with the reliability of medical services. 3. An improvement of the level of satisfaction with the quality of medical services requires proper planning and effectiveness of implementation of health care services. 4. Research should be conducted on a larger population of patients.

Abstract (sommario):
<p>People struggled to explain the world around them and to build on the achievements of science and technology in order to improve the quality of life. The first questions raised for the properties and the beginnings of the external world, concerning all those perceived by human senses for the Nature. The ancient Greek spirit realized the Nature, organic or inorganic, as living, animated wholeness, as a universe. As Philosophy and Science developed, revealed the greatness of the creation of the world, cultivated the notion of the human superiority, with numerous cases of interpretation of the Nature based on the human creature. The concept of ‘Nature’ is intertwined with social choices and management practices. Environmental Ethics is education of values which allows the development of mechanisms that drive changes to attitudes and values, broaden and deepen the pedagogical dimension of theories of science and sociology. </p><p>In this paper is studied the issue of ‘Nature’ in a didactic research, through the philosophical approach of values of Educational of the Sustainable Development. The notion of Nature has significantly replaced by the term of ‘Environment’ attributing ecological, economic, scientific, aesthetic, existential, spiritual value. The research in this case study, carried out in the literature, with N Kazantzakis works and school books of Biology and Environmental Sciences, in order to clarify terms linked to the scientific and philosophical concept of ‘Nature’ and the ‘nature’ of the things. The educational intervention is a negotiation between literature and issues of the environmental science. This research materialized in the stage of preparing a seminar for science teachers on the teaching issues of ‘Nature’ and ‘nature’ of the things. In order to prepare the trainees, in a peer learning activity of N Kazantzakis works, to extract those fragments are related to the term “Nature’ from their point of view, and at the end, they co-form a theatrical lectern where they read the excerpts, in a structural and theatric way.</p>

Abstract (sommario):
This study attempts to develop a conception of art program of study based on the purposes of the Shari'a (maqasid), and the importance of interdisciplinary and integrative studies to achieve a balance between the Islamic knowledge structure in the founding sources (Quran and Sunnah) on the one hand, and the cultural heritage and contemporary knowledge in the other. Integration has become a frame of reference and a criterion for understanding, reconstructing and reconciling knowledge, especially knowledge with common semantic fields, such as social sciences and humanities. The approach of maqasidi thinking is important in moving from partial thinking to a wider space of global thinking in order to comprehend the phenomenon in a more comprehensive way. The balance referred to is useful in determining the quality of an appropriate artistic discourse. It helps to establish an educational art program based on the cognitive perception and cultural function of art; i.e., knowledge, not on its composition and its artistic aesthetic dimension (science). It will also activate the idea of cultural alternatives, as an integral part of the maqasidi thinking.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose of research. The study aimed to develop a statistical model of an image of women’s weightlifting. Methods and organization of research. The first stage of the study involved interviewing 77 Moscow schoolgirls aged 12–14. The girls were asked to express their associations, thoughts, or value judgments related to women’s weightlifting. The obtained data were processed using qualitative and quantitative content analysis. The second stage of the study focused on selecting antonymic (opposite in meaning) pairs of statements characterizing women’s weightlifting. Thus, a set of 31 bipolar scales of the semantic differential was obtained. In the third stage of the study, the same 77 schoolgirls aged 12–14 were asked to evaluate their attitude to women’s weightlifting using the developed semantic differential scales. The obtained data underwent factor analysis with the rotation of reference axes according to the Varimax criterion. The result of factorization was a statistical model of the image of women’s weightlifting. Research result. The statistical (factor) model of the image of women’s weightlifting consists of seven components with groups of characteristics inherent in each of them: 1) aesthetic qualities, the popularity of the sport, its positive impact on the corporal and personal dimension of women; 2) gender appropriateness of the sport and its positive effect on health and social status of women; 3) accessibility (physical, financial) and safety of the sport; 4) the quality of the sports infrastructure, demand for this kind of sport among the youth; 5) influence on women’s social status; 6) positive impact on the moral and volitional powers of women going in for weightlifting; fashion for men’s sports; 7) public recognition of sporting success and achievements of national athletes. Conclusion. The results of the research can be used to develop a program for correcting the women’s weightlifting image and to formulate arguments for the successful positioning of women’s weightlifting among teenagers and young people. Keywords: women’s weightlifting, image, teenage girls, factor model of the women’s weightlifting image.

Abstract (sommario):
Given a lack of knowledge about the dimensions of apparel quality significant to consumers, manufacturers may mistakenly focus attention on product attributes which are not salient to consumers. Therefore, a better understanding of the quality dimensions perceived by consumers and of the intrinsic cues they use in making judgements of products' salient qualities is needed. In this study, 122 adult shoppers evaluated the quality of men's dress shirts. Three dimensions of perceived quality emerged which were defined as Sturdiness/ Durability (garment seams, stitching, fabric construction), Style/Aesthetics (garment design, styling and over-all appearance), and Lasting/Care (garment life and care required). Multiple regression showed that two of these factors, Style/Aesthetics and Sturdiness/Durability, predicted consumers' perceptions of apparel quality. Thus styling, design, and over-all appearance are combined with sturdiness and durability as integral components of consumers' perceptions of quality.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose This paper aims to examine the effects of natural plants on satisfaction and loyalty in the hospitality servicescape and provides a theoretical framework explaining the underlying processes. Design/methodology/approach An experimental study (plants vs no-plants) was conducted in a restaurant with a sample of 119 individuals. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and bootstrapping moderated mediation analysis (Hayes, 2013). Findings The results of the study confirmed significant effects of indoor natural plants on consumers’ satisfaction and loyalty, mediated by the experiential value components of aesthetic value, service excellence and escapism. The absence of an interaction of these influences with consumers’ connectedness to nature indicates that the beneficial effects of indoor plants universally affect all individuals, independent of their personal degree of feeling connected with nature. Practical implications Indoor natural plants as ambient elements in restaurants can improve satisfaction and loyalty by enhancing the dimensions of aesthetics and escapism of the service experience, as well as the perception of service quality. Originality/value This is the first experimental study analyzing the effects of indoor plants on customer satisfaction and loyalty conducted in a real-life restaurant setting using actual plants. The findings contribute theoretically by providing an integrated conceptual model of the satisfaction and loyalty effects of atmospheric stimuli (i.e. plants) in the hospitality servicescape, which offers a process explanation based on the mediating influence of aesthetic value and the sequential mediations of aesthetic value → service excellence and aesthetic value → escapism.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Objective: To test the hypothesis that several dimensions of the self-perceived psychosocial impacts of dental esthetics are not associated with grades of malocclusion, oral health–related quality-of-life measures, and body self-image in adolescents. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included a convenience sample of 301 adolescents (mean age 16.1 ± 1.8 years, 58.1% female subjects). Demographic data were collected and dental conditions were assessed. The Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI) was used for assessment of malocclusion and determination of orthodontic treatment needs. The short form of the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-14), the Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire (PIDAQ), and the Body Satisfaction Scale (BSS) were used to measure adolescents' self-perceived variables. Results: All variables (DAI, OHIP-14, and BSS) were correlated with PIDAQ (P &lt; .001). Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed significant associations (P &lt; .001) of independent variables with the total score of PIDAQ (R2 = 0.29) and dental self-confidence (R2 = 0.30), social impact (R2 = 0.14), psychological impact (R2 = 0.23), and esthetic concern (R2 = 0.13). Conclusion: The hypothesis is rejected. A broad range of adolescents' self-perceived impact of dental esthetics is influenced by severity of malocclusion, oral health–related quality of life, and body satisfaction.

Abstract (sommario):
Dental ceramics present excellent ability to reproduce the natural teeth regarding esthetic and biomechanics. Recently, due to the advancement of ceramic technology, metal-free restorations were developed. However, the traditional metal-ceramic restorations still present the requirements of high strength, long survival in the oral environment and favorable aesthetics. In this context, it is essential to know the specificity of each ceramic system available in order to apply it properly to various clinical situations. This report describes an integrated rehabilitation using metal-ceramic restorations of a patient at 50 years of age, who presented edentulous spaces, and previous unsatisfactory composite and amalgam restorations, and indirect metallic restorations, leading to compromised quality of life in both functional and psychosocial aspects. The impact on quality of life was measured using a generic instrument, OHIP-14, validated for the World Health Organization, which covers both the biological and the psychosocial dimensions. This instrument was applied to the patient before and after treatment. The patient had an overall OHIP-14 score of 28 before the treatment and after treatment the score decreased to 0, showing that dental and oral health conditions are factors that do impact on the quality of life. Rehabilitation has provided functional and aesthetic restorations, harmony of the stomatognathic system and improvement of life quality.

Abstract (sommario):
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to propose a method of measuring service quality as well as suggesting to detect customer complaints through analysis of customer online reviews of mobile bank, which is unstructured data.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses text mining approach for customer online reviews analysis. The research procedure includes: (1) extracting users' reviews for Kakao Mobile Bank, (2) pre-processing of the extracted review data, (3) analyzing the sentiment of each review, (4) measuring the service quality score of each dimension by analyzing keyword frequency and network for each polarity, (5) evaluating total score for mobile bank service quality, and (6) detecting customer complaints on online reviews.FindingsThere are some findings. First, from the customer's point of view, it was possible to see which factors are important among the various dimensions of service quality and which factors should be managed well in mobile banking setting. Second, by periodically finding customer complaints, service failures can be prevented early, and service quality and customer satisfaction can be improved.Practical implicationsFrom a practical point of view, mobile bank managers should pay more attention to the service quality dimensions of practicality and enjoyment. In addition, the results mean that the app design and aesthetics with the most negative reviews should be reviewed from the user's perspective rather than from the company's point of view. Second, it is possible for them to establish a systematic complaint management system that can prevent service failure in advance by detecting customer complaints early. Third, it is possible for them to make quick decisions regarding service quality with the help of real-time customer response through dashboard construction.Originality/valueThis paper is a pioneer study measuring service quality with sentiment analysis, one of the text mining applications, using customers' reviews of a mobile bank.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractObjectiveTo assess the perceived outcomes associated with diet/food intake in the general adult population.Design and subjectsThe Food Benefits Assessment (FBA©) questionnaire was developed from subjects’ verbatim transcripts (n 18) and after comprehension tests (n 5). Normal-weight (n 130) and overweight (n 67) subjects then completed the final questionnaire twice, 7 d apart. Psychometric properties were assessed, including construct validity by principal components analysis (PCA), concurrent validity (Spearman coefficient) with the Short Form-36 scale (SF-36), known-group validity by comparing FBA dimension scores according to lifestyle and clinical variables, internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s α) and test–retest reproducibility in stable subjects over 1 week (intraclass correlation coefficient, ICC).ResultsPCA and Multitrait analysis confirmed the final version of the FBA comprising forty-one items split into seven dimensions (vitality; digestive comfort; physical appearance; well-being; snacking; disease prevention; aesthetics). All dimensions displayed good item convergent validity (0·44 to 0·80), good concurrent validity (highest correlation between well-being dimension of FBA and mental health scale of SF-36, r = 0·83) and good known-group validity and reproducibility (ICC ≥ 0·76); internal consistency reliability was good to excellent (Cronbach’s α = 0·79 to 0·91).ConclusionThe FBA is the first valid and reliable questionnaire that allows the assessment of diet effects and impact as perceived by subjects. It is a good candidate in the nutrition field for further use in specific population settings and with a particular food or daily diet. Linguistically validated English (UK and US) and German versions of the questionnaire are available.

Abstract (sommario):
The author reviews visual perception studies showing that fractal patterns possess an aesthetic quality based on their visual complexity. Specifically, people display an aesthetic preference for patterns with mid-range fractal dimensions, irrespective of the method used to generate them. The author builds upon these studies by presenting preliminary research indicating that mid-range fractals also affect the observer's physiological condition. The potential for incorporating these fractals into art and architecture as a novel approach to reducing stress is also discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to study the service-profit chain (SPC) on e-service quality dimensions, online customer value (CV) dimensions, e-satisfaction, and e-loyalty in an e-commerce context. Design/methodology/approach – A total of 2,813 internet customers filled in an online questionnaire after completing a specified task on one of 28 wine web sites from seven countries. Findings – The results highlight the impact of the dimensions of e-service quality (information, aesthetics, ease of use, security/privacy, and reliability) on the dimensions of online CV (functional, economic, and social value) as they affect e-satisfaction, which in turn influences e-loyalty. The results validate the SPC in an e-commerce context and also stress the partial mediating role of the dimensions of online CV between the dimensions of e-service quality and e-satisfaction. Research limitations/implications – The sample may not exactly match the customer profile of the web sites analyzed. In order to generalize the results, future research should replicate this study with a customer sample from each web site. Future research could also take into account other variables that may have an influence on the relationships identified. Additionally it would be interesting to replicate the study in other industries and undertake longitudinal studies in one or more industries. Practical implications – From a managerial point of view, online retailers, especially in the wine sector, can positively affect CV, satisfaction, and loyalty by focussing on information, aesthetics, ease of use, security/privacy, and reliability. Originality/value – This paper is the first to study the SPC by examining service quality dimensions, CV dimensions, satisfaction, and loyalty in an online context. It extends the knowledge of online retailing by validating the SPC on the dimensions of traditional service concepts, such as service quality and CV. The findings can assist online retailers to better understand the dynamics of online customer relationships and the implications for customer satisfaction and ultimately loyalty.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify the key dimensions of mobile banking (m-banking) service quality. Design/methodology/approach – The authors employ the critical incident technique to unveil the key dimensions of m-banking service quality as perceived by m-banking customers, and to identify critical satisfiers/dissatisfiers among the identified dimensions. Findings – The analysis reveals a total of 17 dimensions of m-banking service quality: m-banking application quality (content, accuracy, ease of use, speed, aesthetics, security, diverse mobile application service features, and mobile convenience), and m-banking customer service quality (reliability, responsiveness, competence, courtesy, credibility, access, communication, understanding the customer, and continuous improvement). Of these, five dimensions, such as mobile convenience, accuracy, diverse mobile application service features, ease of use, and continuous improvement, are considered as the main sources of customer satisfaction/dissatisfaction. Practical implications – M-bankers, based on the identified 17 dimensions, can develop a comprehensive service quality management system, which helps them identify and overcome key obstacles to the delivery of high quality m-banking customer services. Originality/value – This study focusses on uncovering the key dimensions of m-banking service quality and their associated sub-dimensions specific to the context of m-banking. Theoretically, the identified dimensions and their related sub-items can serve as building blocks for further research in customer relationship management in m-banking.
