Abstract (sommario):

Privilegies of pallium to Apulia between 1063 and 1122
The present study intends to examine the bestowal of the pallium upon apulian bishops between 1063 and 1122 based on the documents drawn up by the papacy. Together with the pallium were not only concessed metropolitan rights, but in the second half of the Eleventh Century it became also a strong instrument of bond and control of the bishops for the so called reforming papacy. The study shows inter alia that in Apulia the pallium was only bestowed to archbishops and it was not only intended as an instrument of control, but particularl

The origin of the Apulian population of Cyrtodactylus kotschyi is debated. Two hypotheses have been made: 1) natural origin due to land bridges linking Apulia to the Balcanic Peninsula in times past; 2) anthropogenic origin. In this work the variations of isozimic frequencies by means of starch gel electrophoresis among Apulian and Greek populations of this gecko were studied. The data suggest a recent origin of the Apulian population due to importation.

Abstract (sommario):
Historically cultivated in Apulia (Southern Italy), Apulian black chickpeas are rich in bioactive compounds such as anthocyanins. This type of chickpea is being replaced by modern cultivars and is at risk of genetic erosion; therefore, it is important to explore its potential for new food applications. The aim of this work was to assess the effect of the addition of Apulian black chickpea wholemeal flour on the nutritional and qualitative properties of durum wheat-based bakery products; namely bread, “focaccia” (an Italian traditional bakery product similar to pizza), and pizza crust. Abstract (sommario):
In 2013, an outbreak of Xylella fastidiosa (Xf) was identified for the first time in Europe, in the extreme south of Italy (Apulia, Salento territory). The locally identified subspecies pauca turned out to be lethal for olive trees, starting an unprecedented phytosanitary emergency for one of the most iconic cultivations of the Mediterranean area. Xf pauca (Xfp) is responsible for a severe disease, the olive quick decline syndrome (OQDS), spreading epidemically and with dramatic impact on the agriculture, the landscape, the tourism and the cultural heritage of this region. Abstract (sommario):
The progressive climate change has an impact on the quantity and quality of grapes. Among meteorological parameters, air temperature is believed to have a direct influence on grape yield and composition, as well as on the organoleptic characteristics of wines. Therefore, in this work three bioclimatic indices based on temperature have been considered, with the aim of classifying the climate in the winegrowing region of Apulia (southern Italy) based on historical periods of thirty years (1961–1990 and 1991–2022) and verifying its evolution in the future in relation to global warming under two d

To control this risk, these patients have to receive a specific immunisation schedule, before or in the 2 weeks after the surgical intervention. The original hosts were Milax sowerbyi and M. gagates. Females are 2623 (2262-2848) μm long with a long tapering tail. Prominent papilla-like phasmids are present. Males are 2096 (1898-2363) μm long. They have a peloderan bursa with nine pairs of rays arranged as 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 3. Each ray bears a single papilla. A non-paired papilla is located n

Abstract (sommario):
The article analyses and discusses the numerous sculptural fragments which belonged to the monumental and tragically destroyed Romanesque Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin at Dubrovnik. Although neglected and waiting to be thoroughly catalogued, our current knowledge about this material does provide a fuller picture about their chronology and the Apulian master carvers who made them. The article focuses on the archival information about these masters and outlines direct formal analogies with the sculptures from the other side of the Adriatic. Abstract (sommario):
AbstractA statistical comparison has been made of chemical data for terra rossa and carbonate-free residues of Cretaceous limestones and dolostones in Apulia in order to evaluate the hypothesis that the terra rossa is a product of weathering of the underlying carbonate rocks. It has been shown that the differences in chemical composition between the residue of the carbonate rocks and the terra rossa are consistent with the former being the parent material of the latter. The transformation from carbonate rock residue to terra rossa was governed mainly by chemical weathering which produced a mar

In Apulia region 43,9% of women (aged 25-64) are screened regularly, meaning every 3 years. Considering regional tariffs and vaccine acquisition cost, the vaccination of 12-year-old girls with a 90% coverage could prevent 127 cases of cervicocarcinoma and 52 related deaths and thus results to be cost-effective (13.471€/QALY). When the vaccination programme is extended to 16-year-old girls a further 133 cancer cases and 54 deaths could be prevented, with a very similar cost-effectiveness ratio. In Apulia region, the net cost for woman vaccinated is 137€ for the single cohort and 141€ for the mu
