Given the customer requirements for personalized product increased, the contradiction between actual products and customer satisfaction was existed. Analyzing the present situation of design templates, the product configuration approach based on design templates was proposed. The importance of template objects was sorted in descending to enhance the customer satisfaction for configuring product. A typical application of a small agricultural machinery product design was given to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the design approach.

Abstract This paper discusses structuring of hardware and software for an autonomous social robot. It shows that the real-world social robot operations face the challenge of environmental variability and uncertainty of the objective parameters. Thus, a social robot must be capable of situation analysis for better autonomy. We propose a modular distributed structure of the control system. Separate modules monitor the status and control the subsystems of the robot. General coordination of subsystems is provided by the Supervisor module. For the robot to function autonomously, the Supervisor must be capable of situation analysis and its key functions: objective retrieval and analysis, situation description, configuring and strategizing the solution. The robot’s sensory inputs help acquire the objective and its parameters to describe the situation. Description relies on the database of a priori knowledge of the environment and its objects. Analysis is linked to a reduction in the uncertainty of the objective parameters and situation description. For a case study, the paper demonstrates a maze-solving strategy as affected by the situation.

It provides reference for hydropower stations with similar needs.

Configuring A Sensor Network for Fault Detection in Distributed Parameter SystemsThe problem of fault detection in distributed parameter systems (DPSs) is formulated as that of maximizing the power of a parametric hypothesis test which checks whether or not system parameters have nominal values. A computational scheme is provided for the design of a network of observation locations in a spatial domain that are supposed to be used while detecting changes in the underlying parameters of a distributed parameter system. The setting considered relates to a situation where from among a finite set of potential sensor locations only a subset can be selected because of the cost constraints. As a suitable performance measure, theDs-optimality criterion defined on the Fisher information matrix for the estimated parameters is applied. Then, the solution of a resulting combinatorial problem is determined based on the branch-and-bound method. As its essential part, a relaxed problem is discussed in which the sensor locations are givena prioriand the aim is to determine the associated weights, which quantify the contributions of individual gauged sites. The concavity and differentiability properties of the criterion are established and a gradient projection algorithm is proposed to perform the search for the optimal solution. The delineated approach is illustrated by a numerical example on a sensor network design for a two-dimensional convective diffusion process.

Since the beginning of the Republic of North Macedonia, there have been marginalized groups. The LGBTI community, Roma, and women living in North Macedonia have faced various human rights violations for years, including a lack of representation or resources. While the government has attempted to address some of these violations and inequalities through policy, much remains to be addressed. The government must step forward, strengthen its legislation, and provide support to these groups. Roma has historically struggled in many states, with many peoples. The Roma in North Macedonia has experienced various discriminations and rights violations, easily summed up in a pipeline from segregated education to poor health. A step forward for the LGBTI community in North Macedonia, albeit rather complicated, has been the Law on Protection and Prevention of Discrimination. This law was proposed in 2019 to replace its predecessor with a more comprehensive version. It was the first law that explicitly prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. This law passed but was quickly repealed, as it initially had not achieved the required majority to pass, amongst additional deliberation. Soon afterwards, Parliament was able to re-establish the law with the necessary majority. The lives of women in North Macedonia are not well protected despite the word of the law. Violence against women has been a prevalent issue and significant public health problem due to the negative impact it has on women’s health, causing physical and psychological damage. The government has taken action to prevent this violence and protect its victims.

Introduction: This paper focuses on providing social care to a close relative. It is crucial in social services. Design: qualitative methodology – method of semi-structured interviews. Methods: respondents were selected to satisfy specific criteria. Particularly, these criteria were the care of a close relative who was assigned level III or IV care benefits. Another criterion according to which we selected respondents was that the carer belonged to the age group in which a person is still usually economically active. The research sample consisted of 6 respondents. Results: Based on the data analysis, we created categories to present the content of semi-structured interviews. Needs focusing on the body carried over into maintenance of one’s own physical and mental health are: the need for safety, the need for acceptance, the need for acknowledgement and respect, and the need for self-fulfilment and perspective. Conclusions: It is important to identify the care of a close relative, the specifics and needs, in the interests of configuring effective management of medical, psychological and social care, and creation of a system of social protection.

Abstract Microgrid technology has been widely used due to its high flexibility and reliability. In the operation process, it is prone to the situation that the system stability decreases due to untimely fault removal, and the microgrid current needs to be adjusted in time. A current protection scheme based on a simulated annealing particle swarm algorithm is proposed, which improves the particle swarm shrinkage factor and combines with the simulated annealing algorithm to shorten the current rectification time in the microgrid system by reasonably configuring the load in the simulated system, and the rationality of the method is verified by simulation. In this way, the premature problem of the particle swarm algorithm is solved well.

Abstract Models developed through design and construction are not intended to support facility management. They don’t generally have the life-cycle data and information required or they are not configured to support visualization of model graphics from a system’s perspective. Current implementations for BIM-FM focuses mainly on including facility life cycle data in BIM models to support space management or asset management. Models are not customized with necessary data and classification that allow for isolating and visualizing components of a specific building system (e.g. supply air). This is necessary in an emergency situation to allow facility staff to diagnose the problem associated with the system and its components, identify the problem and make necessary and informed actions. In this paper, we discuss requirements for preparing an as-built BIM model to be systems-centric using a case study approach of a two-story science building. A system classification hierarchy was developed to classify the systems and sub-systems of the building. Sixteen systems-centric properties were defined to search, filter, isolate, and display elements in a specific system or sub-system. The configured systems-centric model will allow facility managers understand the dependencies across different systems to accurately determine impacts across the facility and develop strategies to rapidly respond to any emergency. The case study analysed the mechanical and plumbing systems in the building. This paper will focus on results from the analysis of the mechanical system. An example of emergency scenario is discussed and presented.

The work is devoted to the development of a lesson that will allow students of automation educational programs to develop the skills of configuring industrial controllers of the Siemens Simatic S7 family. During developing the lesson, it was decided to use the format of laboratory work with the involvement of modern forms of students' work activation. Structurally, the student's work per class consists of independent and classroom work. Independent work includes watching educational videos and studying theoretical material. Auditory work consists of participation in a master class conducted by the teacher and completion of an individual task, where the teacher acts as a consultant. The developed lesson can be conducted both face-to-face and remotely. Under conducting a distance lesson, the teacher needs to pay more attention to the means of receiving feedback from students, as well as limit the number of participants, in order to improve the uniformity of learning the material by students. Methodical and visual support was developed to support the lesson: the list of video materials for viewing; reference book on theoretical material; the presentation to accompany the creation of a sample software project; individual tasks for students. The developed lesson was approved in remote form, considering the current situation in Ukraine. For the first time, an integrated product was created for training students in the skills of configuring industrial controllers of the Siemens Simatic S7 family, which is characterized by an orientation towards familiarity with the TIA Portal environment, development to support each stage of the lesson with methodical and visual support, a complete structure of information presentation, and the use of such modern forms of education, like a master class. The developed lesson allows students of automation educational programs to develop the skill of configuring industrial controllers of the Siemens Simatic S7 family in a fairly short time at a sufficiently high level. Further work of students consists of creating software projects based on real automation tasks. Background and objective: Heart transplant is a life-saving treatment and currently is the definitive gold-standard in the treatment of refractory heart failure. Surgical site infection is a serious complication of heart transplantation. A nursing theory predicting consequences related to the management of risk factors for surgical site infection in patients undergoing heart transplantation can be useful to nursing practice. The objective of this study was to develop a situation-specific theory of surgical site infection-related stimuli in patients undergoing heart transplantation.Methods: It was adopted an integrative strategy to develop the theory. Multiple sources of knowledge were accessed. The Roy Adaptation Model was adopted as the foundation for the development of this situation-specific theory in a nursing perspective. A literature review on risk factors for surgical site infection in patients undergoing heart transplantation was conducted. By configuring those sources with practice expertise in a collaborative effort, risk factors for surgical site infection in patients undergoing heart transplantation were classified as contextual or residual stimuli, focal stimulus was defined, and seven theory propositions were developed.Results: Heart transplant surgery was considered as focal stimulus. The contextual stimuli were classified as preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative contextual stimuli. The residual stimuli were classified as preoperative and intraoperative residual stimuli. No postoperative residual stimulus was identified. Ten theory propositions were created.Conclusions: The emerging theory can help nurses to prevent surgical site infections in patients undergoing heart transplantation. Further developments must be made in order to consider nurse-patient interactions during the prevention of surgical site infections.

AbstractMarket positioning is not anymore just an outcome of the marketing endeavour but actually the essence of it. Organisations must develop and implement proper market positioning plans if they want to pursue an enduring existence. In this direction, an organisation must perform a brand situation analysis, its results being the starting point of a successful market positioning. This analysis entails collecting data about the brand and its competitors being performed through various qualitative and quantitative research methods. The current study focuses on the use of in-depth interviews, a very important qualitative research instrument, in collecting data necessary to build a market position in the form of inconspicuous consumer behaviour factors, such as perceptions, attitudes and motivations. The peculiarities and advantages of this tool are detailed in an analysis of the Romanian modern retail. The findings through their richness made possible configuring market positions for several companies under study. There is no doubt about the effectiveness of this tool in collecting essential data for an effective market positioning. However, in some instances an organisation might need data of quantitative nature in making market positioning decisions, situations in which the use of the indepth interview should be complemented with a survey.

The massification of Latin American educational systems leads to a reconsideration of the concept of educational inclusion/exclusion since, partly, social disadvantages have been transferred inside the school, configuring situations of unequal inclusion. Considering three main dimensions of educational inclusion – access, learning and integration/segregation – this paper focuses on the latter, since it has been the least studied in the region. The aim is to empirically analyze the current situation, the dynamics and the evolution of socioeconomic segregation in the secondary school system during the last decades. To this end, information from the 2000-2015 rounds of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) corresponding to nine Latin American countries is used. Various synthetic indices are estimated to quantify and characterize the problem, comparing the region with others, as well as the Latin American countries with each other. The results suggest that the region presents the lowest levels of social integration at school, in spite of a certain reduction of the segregation levels during the last years. Given the intensity of the problem and its potential impact on inequality of opportunities, the ultimate goal of this study is to contribute to the visualization of the issue and to provide information for the design of policies.

Abstract This article will argue that the term ‘conscientious objection’ can be applied beyond its associations with military service and reproductive healthcare, to explain the situation of a registrar of marriages, who, in carrying out his or her employment, has an objection based on religious beliefs to a specific aspect of his or her job requirements—namely the conduct of civil partnerships. It is argued that this objection is worthy of recognition and potential accommodation because of the weight of the burden which conscience imposes on the registrar, a burden that outweighs the case against recognition. The article then turns to examine critically the options for accommodating such a conscientious objection within United Kingdom law to the extent of considering three broad options, each with attendant advantages and disadvantages. Finally the article comes to the conclusion that re-configuring discrimination law might be the most pragmatic solution.

This article presents an approach that supports the creation of personal learning environments (PLE) suitable for self-regulated learning (SRL). PLEs became very popular in recent years offering more personal freedom to learners than traditional learning environments. However, creating and configuring PLEs demand specific meta-skills that not all learners have. This situation leads to the challenge how learners can be supported to create PLEs that are useful to achieve their intended learning outcomes. The theory of SRL describes learners as self-regulated if they are capable of taking over control of the own learning process. Grounding on that theory, a model has been elaborated that offers guidance for the creation of PLEs containing tools for cognitive and meta-cognitive learning activities. The implementation of this approach has been done in the context of the ROLE infrastructure. A quantitative and qualitative evaluation with teachers describes advantages and ideas for improvement.

Tape storage is still a cost effective way to keep large amounts of data over a long period of time and it is expected that this will continue in the future. The GridKa tape environment is a complex system of many hardware components and software layers. Configuring this system for optimal performance for all use cases is a non-trivial task and requires a lot of experience. We present the current status of the GridKa tape environment, report on recent upgrades and improvements and plans to further develop and enhance the system, especially with regard to the future requirements of the HEP experiments and their large data centers. The short-term planning mainly includes the transition from TSM to HPSS as the backend and the effects on the connection of dCache and xrootd. Recent changes of the vendor situation of certain tape technologies require a precise analysis of the impact and eventual adaptation of the mid-term planning, in particular with respect to scalability challenge that comes with HL-LHC on the horizon.

Natural disasters have inflicted major damage on humankind throughout history. Some of the most severe disasters in Japan and other countries have been earthquakes, which frequently trigger secondary disasters such as tsunamis, landslides, and fires. In fact, in Japan, most casualties in an earthquake are not due to the earthquake itself but to secondary disasters. Therefore, detecting the occurrence of secondary disasters and gathering the result in real-time are essential in order to minimize the number of casualties. Thus, we concentrated on creating an effective system for propagating information about fire accidents quickly using pedestrian mobile phones. (Note that we believed detecting fires was the easiest of these secondary disasters.) In addition, we establish a configuration-free system for propagating fire alerts by attaching an ad-hoc network device to fire alarms installed in homes. Thus, we can collect information on fire accidents without configuring any personal location information. We evaluate the effectiveness of our system in the event of a fire. Our results show that we can estimate the location of a fire with an error of <20 m. This is sufficiently accurate to locate a fire in order to obtain an overview of the situation.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the impacts of various parameters of rigid spherical microphone array in detecting and locating interior sound source. Helmholtz Equations are adopted to express the sound field produced by the incident field and scattered field. The gradient of the pressure is zero at the surface for the sphere is rigid. Both the incident and scattered coefficient could be obtained by solving the Helmholtz Equation using the boundary condition. Then the interior sound field could be detected and located on with the methodology of spherical near-field acoustic holography (SNAH). This study is developed in two aspects，one is configuring the microphone in various distribution in the same sphere radius, and the other one is changing the radius of sphere array. Numerical simulations are carried out to determine the optimum microphone array configuration and structure parameters. One, two, and three sound sources are arranged respectively in different displacement to the sphere center and in different angle direction to simulate the real situation. During the experiments, Omni-directional speakers and beeps are adopted as sound sources. The result shows that the method to detect and locate sound source in interior sound field is valid.

PurposeThis study examines the effect of political networking capability (PNC) and strategic capability on exploratory innovation/exploitative innovation through the mediation of absorptive capability (AC).Design/methodology/approachUsing empirical survey data collected from 153 traditional manufacturing firms (TMFs) in China, the authors apply partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) combined with mediation analyses to test hypotheses.FindingsPNC has a higher impact on exploratory innovation than exploitative innovation through AC. The authors thus provide novel empirical insights into independent variables of firms' ambidextrous innovation and their implementation mechanisms.Research limitations/implicationsThe authors highlight a unique situation of China and contribute to the literature on PNC and AC. The findings demonstrate that AC plays an important role in configuring government-obtained external resources into new products, thus influencing ambidextrous innovation strategic decisions.Practical implicationsTMFs' executives should enhance PNC to obtain more resources to conduct exploratory and exploitative innovation. Recently, the establishment of technical standards for grid connection has gained interest in academia and industry. These standards have focused on the reactive power control function of the grid-connected inverter and maintenance of grid operation, and include detailed information about the grid support function. However, remote control communication and control devices for grid support functions, and other distributed sources, such as wind power and energy storage systems, other than inverters have not been addressed. In this paper, the control of the interlinking converter (ILC) in a hybrid microgrid considering low voltage ride-through (LVRT) among grid support functions is investigated. The proposed method consists of an energy management system considering LVRT and a cooperative control scheme. In the energy management system, an algorithm capable of mode selection was constructed by applying the LVRT curve. Then, considering the LVRT situation, the allowable reactive power range of the ILC was mathematically analyzed through the cooperative control of the energy storage device and the ILC. The proposed method enables us to perform active and reactive power control of the ILC in a hybrid distribution network, considering the power factor under various conditions. This functionality, such as supplying reactive power, significantly contributes to the enhanced grid resilience with distributed power sources, including renewable energy. The proposed strategies were verified through experiments after configuring an experimental set of distributed power sources.

Covid-19 has impacted the lives of people across the world with deaths and unprecedented economic damage. Countries have employed various restrictions and lockdowns to slow down the rate of its spread with varying degrees of success. This research aims to propose an optimal strategy for dealing with a pandemic taking the deaths and economy into account. A complete lockdown until vaccination is not suitable as it can destroy the economy, whereas having no restrictions would result in more Covid-19 cases. Therefore, there is a need for a dynamic model which can propose a suitable strategy depending on the economic and health situation. This paper discusses an approach involving a systems dynamics model for evaluating deaths and hospitals and a fuzzy inference system for deciding the strategy for the next time period based on pre-defined rules. We estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as a sum of government spending, investment, consumption, and spending. The resulting hybrid framework aims to attain a balance between health and economy during a pandemic. The results from a 30-week simulation indicate that the model has 2.9 million $ in GDP higher than complete lockdown and 21 fewer deaths compared to a scenario with no restrictions. The model can be used for the decision-making of restriction policies by configuring the fuzzy rules and membership functions. The paper also discusses the possibility of introducing virus variants in the model.

The creation and maintenance of a domain model is a well recognised bottleneck in the use of automated planning; indeed, ensuring a planning engine is fed with an accurate model of an application is essential in order that generated plans are effective. Engineering domain models using a hybrid representation is particularly challenging as it requires accurately describing continuous processes, which can have complex numeric effects. In this work we consider the problem of the refinement of an engineered hybrid domain model, to more accurately capture the effect of the underlying processes. Our approach exploits the information content of the original model, utilising machine learning techniques to identify important situation and temporal features that indicate a variation in the original effect. We use the problem of modelling traffic flows in an Urban Traffic Management setting as a case study and demonstrate in our evaluation that the refined domain models provide more accurate simulation, which can lead to higher quality plans. The contribution of this work is a general approach to the automated refinement of hybrid planning domain models that reduces the knowledge engineering effort in producing a detailed process model. The approach can be used for refining the domain model during the initial stages of development, or for re-configuring the domain model when used in the same problem area but with a different scenario. We test out the approach within a real world case study.

The paper describes the main stages and transitions in the unfolding of the Learning Activity which is reviewed within the framework of D.B. Elkonin and V.V. Davydov’s concepts about the meaning and content of education. The unfolding of teaching/learning is explained through the emergence of a joint action of teacher and students, that is, the Mediative Action. The concept of the Learning Task as a basis for constructing the general method of action, central to the system of D.B. Elkonin and V.V. Davydov, is also considered as a source of learning motivation. The learning task is seen as the distinct opposition between the search for the method of acting (possible scaffolds of acting) and the very achievement of the result, i.e. the opposition between the consideration (of situation) and the immediate achievement (of result), and, therefore, the opposition between the intriguing (interesting) and the required. The paper also focuses on the evolution of modeling as the evolution of sign mediation in the student’s activity. As the student progresses from understanding and configuring the model to using it as a means of acting, the model evolves. Having gained the function of the means, the model becomes a resource of possible action, and that is how the experience of acting appears before the student him/herself. The unfolding of the learning task and modeling is conceptualized as the correlation between functional genesis and ontogenesis.

Sizing and configuring community-shared energy storage according to the actual demand of community users is important for the development of user-side energy storage. To solve this problem, this paper first proposes a community energy storage cooperative sharing mode containing multiple transaction types and then establishes a sizing and configuration model of community-shared energy storage based on a cooperative game among community users and energy storage operators, in which the loss caused by the capacity decay of energy storage is quantified by a dynamic power loss cost factor. To improve the solving efficiency, a distributed and cooperating solving method based on ADMM is used to solve the sizing and configuration model. On this basis, the bilateral Shapley method is used to allocate the total annual cost according to the marginal expected cost brought by each user. Compared with existing strategies, this paper calculates the economic benefits of community-shared energy storage based on several typical days of each year and quantifies the capacity decay of energy storage by a dynamic power loss cost factor which increases year by year to be closer to the real situation. Finally, the simulation verifies that the model proposed in this paper can be used for the sizing and configuration of community-shared energy storage. Compared with the original annual cost, the total annual cost of the community is reduced by 3.92%, and the annual operation cost of the community which equals annual electricity purchasing cost minus annual electricity selling income plus annual power loss cost is reduced by 25.6%.

Currently, expert-analytical activity is being developed on digital network platforms as sociotechnical systems that organize algorithmized relationships between actors and actant in the field of assessing a problem situation and making decisions to resolve it. The lag in the development of expert and analytical activities in the public administration system of the region leads to a slowdown in the processes of their socio-economic development. The purpose of the presented work was to substantiate the need of the regional management system for a conceptual model of smart configuration of expert and analytical activities on digital network platforms. The author determined that such a conceptual model should be based on 1) the concept of stakeholders (E. Freeman), 2) the critical heuristics of designing social systems (V. Ulrich), 3) the concept of epistemic communities (P. Haas). Its need is determined by three main points: 1) identifying the problematic field of requests and the degree of demand for conducting a social and professional examination with the involvement of representatives of interested parties; 2) digitalization processes that lead to the formation of digital network platforms as the technological basis for public management of new quality and 3) the construction of the concept of smart configuration as its content and technological basis. This model is based on smart configuring, the concept of using an artificial intelligence system to organize optimization models for developing options for socially significant management decisions, taking into account the consolidation of interests and the participation of all stakeholders. Smart configuration enables dialogue and collaboration between key stakeholders. To do this, you need to create a smart application (intelligent relational network configurator).

Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the newest matters in both industry and academia of the communication engineering world. On the other hand, wireless mesh networks, a network topology that has been debate for decades that haven’t been put into use in great scale, can make a transformation when it arises to the network in the IoT world nowadays. A Mesh IoT network is a local network architecture in which linked devices cooperate and route data using a specified protocol. Typically, IoT devices exchange sensor data by connecting to an IoT gateway. However, there are certain limitations if it involves to large number of sensors and the data that should be received is difficult to analyze. The aim of the work here is to implement a self-configuring mesh network in IoT sensor devices for better independent data collection quality. The research conducted in this paper is to build a mesh network using NodeMCU ESP 8266 and NodeMCU ESP 32 with two types of sensor, DHT 11 and DHT 22. Hence, the work here has evaluated on the delay performance metric in Line-of-Sight (LoS) and Non-Line-of-Sight (nLos) situation based on different network connectivity. The results give shorter delay time in LoS condition for all connected nodes as well as when any node fail to function in the mesh network compared to nLoS condition. The paper demonstrates that the IoT sensor devices composing the mesh network is a must to leverage the link communication performance for data collection in order to be used in IoT-based application such as fertigation system. It will certainly make a difference in the industry once being deployed on large scale in the IoT world and make the IoT more accessible to a wider audience.

<strong>Introduction: </strong>The comorbidity between headaches and psychiatric disorders is common and may be explained by different mechanisms in terms of uni or bi-directional models, or sharing of genetic and environmental risk factors relating to development of both clinical conditions. The presence of this comorbidity has important implications for patients with headaches and for patients with psychiatric disorders, worsens the clinical situation, increases the risk of chronicity, the pain intensity and the rate of treatment failure.<br /><strong>Material and Methods:</strong> The authors performed a descriptive, retrospective study of prevalence, involving 250 patients seen in Psychiatry - Headaches liaison consultation, over a period of 3 years, from July 1, 2011 to July 1, 2013. The authors undertook the analysis of the clinical records, in respect to sociodemographic and clinical data, neurological and psychiatric diagnosis and prescribed therapy.<br /><strong>Results and Discussion:</strong> During this period were made 689 liaison consultations, with a prevalence of female patients (84%) and a mean age of 47 years. The tension type headache (60.8%), migraine (24.8%) and headache attributed to psychiatric disorders (7.2%) were the most prevalent types of headaches. Mood disorders (62%) and neurotic stress related disorders (39.2%) were the most frequent psychiatric diagnoses. The therapeutic intervention in these cases emphasizes the multidisciplinary approach with the collaboration of Neurologist and Psychiatrist, based in psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral intervention and psychopharmacological treatment.<br /><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Given the complexity of the clinical picture in cases of comorbidity, the experience of psychiatry liaison consultation and multidisciplinary intervention has proved particularly valuable in treating these patients, configuring itself as the proper treatment of this comorbidity.<br /><strong>Keywords:</strong> Comorbidity; Headache; Mental Disorders; Psychiatry.

During the Late Permian Paraná Basin was a huge epeiric sea in which salinity deviated from either normal marine or freshwater, particularly in marginally environments. Sedimentological, geochemical, petrographic data and associated micro- and microflora have been used to identify such variations. Although shell morphology (paleoautoecology) and preservation (taphonomy) of bivalve mollusks could be used as an additional tool, these have been fully neglected. Previous authors based on the occurrence of charophyte oogonia in rocks of the Terezina/Corumbataí Formations (Passa Dois Group) and coeval occurrences outside the Brazilian portion of the basin, interpreted the fauna (Pinzonella illusa and Pinzonella neotropica assemblages) as typically freshwater. However, morphologic and taphonomic evidences do not corroborate this assumption: a- assimetrical sculptures and radial ornamentation found in shells of the genera Cowperesia and Ferrazia are absent in freshwater bivalve shells; b- anteriorly expanded shells (e.g., Runnegariella fragilis) are not present in mollusks that colonized freshwater environments, and c- lunule (e.g., Pinzonella, Itatamba, and Plesiocyprinella) is rare or absent in freshwater bivalves. Additionally, typical morphological features (e.g., claustrun, tubercles, shell torsion) exhibited by freshwater bivalves were not observed in the studied fauna. Assemblages including high proportion of shells with extensive solution pits concentrated in the umbonal region are common in bivalves that suffered prolonged exposures to freshwater conditions. These features have never been observed in the studied fossil record. Our data highly suggest that the reconstruction of Passa Dois Group paleosalinity must be done using a “myriad” of stratigraphic, sedimentologic, paleobiologic and taphonomic information. At this moment, we can only affirm that they were not typical freshwater mollusks. Probably, they lived in shallow water habitats, frequently affected by storms, and punctuated by episodes of intense evaporation and hypersalinity with influence of local freshwater inputs, configuring an situation of high environmental stress.

Technological innovations, regulatory reforms, institutional overhauls, and socio-cultural developments create discontinuities in a firm's environment. They deny resources that it had depended on for its functioning, thus challenging its sustenance, or provide new paths for growth. The firm needs to respond to these discontinuities by anticipating them well in advance, creating options for change, choosing an appropriate option, and implementing it by reconfiguring its resources. The demands from the management in responding to discontinuities are unique. The response engages the management in processes like unlearning what is redundant, learning what is required in the new situation, and leveraging on whatever is relevant from the past. Such capabilities of ‘sensing’, ‘seizing’ and ‘reconfiguring’ have been referred to as ‘dynamic capabilities’ in the literature on strategic management. In this perspective, the authors propose a framework of interrelations among discontinuity in the environment, firm responses, and dynamic capabilities. The framework is illustrated by presenting the experiences of two companies: (a) R R Donnelley & Sons – from the printing industry, where the old heavy iron-based printing technology was giving way to digital printing and (b) Gramophone Company of India Limited (GCIL) – from the entertainment industry, where PVC as a medium for recording music and playing back. The two cases demonstrate: the need for the firm to challenge its own sources of success and be prepared to face discontinuities the need for sensing the change, seizing the opportunity, and shaping the responses (re-configuring). the adaptive response through capabilities of sensing scenarios and preparing for the response. This perspective not only urges managers to explore the relevance of the proposed interrelations framework but also to think through the possible sources of discontinuities in their environment, and develop capabilities to visualize the implications and accordingly engage in the reshaping process to make itself relevant to the environment once again.

How does organizing proceed when leadership is both shared and hierarchical? Who sets the context, how and when do people share influence, and who produces authoritative texts for going forward? Using the lens of authoring claims and grants (Taylor and Van Every, 2014), we display the complex relationship between shared and hierarchical leadership in meeting interactions in a Danish municipality attempting to implement shared leadership. Our findings suggest that issues of time and timing are fundamental to understanding their interrelationship. We highlight discursive devices such as ‘bookending,’ including the creation of authoritative texts, which render the shared and hierarchical leadership configuration an ambiguous space that requires interrogating the nature of leadership attributions. Finally, we demonstrate the relevance of leadership as a concept for both hierarchical and shared decision-making situations.

This impression is also raised in the well-known and often cited case study within Establishment Printers. Using this case as a starting point, this paper presents an analysis of more recent workflow implementations to support the view that modern workflow systems are widely applied in the services industry and are considered useful by performers to support their way of working. In cases where the introduction of workflow technology initially disrupted the flow of work, a wide range of configuration options was available to mend such situations. A detailed analysis of a workflow implementation in a Belgian financial organization clearly shows that re-configuration decisions, like a finer step granularity, can transform a pre-structured production-type workflow system into a flexible application allowing and supporting a smooth flow of work.

In such a topology construction, there are various methods of configuring a topology considering network interference and configuring a topology for energy saving, such as a mobile sensor network. However, there has been no research on the topology construction considering the rapidly high movement of mobile node, characteristic of IoV. In this article, we proposed the k-Lifetime Tree Topology Construction (k-LTTC) algorithm during emergency situations for IoV with highly dynamic characteristics. By applying the time domain to the topology construction, it is guaranteed to maintain the topology for a specific period of time (k-Life Time). The first algorithm is a centralized algorithm to construct k-lifetime tree topology, and the second algorithm is a decentralized algorithm to construct k-lifetime tree topology. We describe the time complexity and message complexity for the mathematical analysis of our proposed algorithms. Furthermore, we provided the simulation results to verify our proposed method.

For non-stationary objects with parameters, which could be changed significantly during operation, using conventional controllers in the form of proportional-integraldifferential regulators may not provide the required quality of the system. Therefore, it is desirable to create an adaptive automatic control system with the structure and parameters of the control regulator that are purposefully changed to ensure the system adaptation, that is based on information about the properties of the object of regulation and external influences, to the changing operating conditions. The problem of designing adaptive systems is one of the most important in control theory and related fields. This is conditioned by two factors: the complexity of solving the problem as a whole and the presence of a large number of technically diverse situations that need to be adapted and optimized. In the paper, an adaptive system for the automatic control of the speed of a gas turbine engine, which includes a magnetic amplifier, a DC motor with a gearbox, a fuel supply valve and a tachogenerator, is developed. For adaptive control execution, three proportional-integral-differential controllers were proposed: "classic", fuzzy and neurofuzzy. The parameters of the "classic" controller were optimized using linear programming methods. The membership functions and the rule base were proposed for the fuzzy controller. An adaptation algorithm was selected for the neuro-fuzzy controller. Three controllers were used for three engine-operating modes: low-gas, cruiser and maximum during the computer simulation of the system. A comparative analysis of the quality of the three regulators was performed and it is based on the obtained transient characteristics. The derived results can be used in the development of automatic control systems for gas turbine engines.

In the Brazilian context, the open areas along the urban blocks remain residual spaces, with irregular and small geometries, configuring urban slices without continuity and connectivity. This scenario can be seen in the images of large urban centers and is repeated, even more permissively and negatively, in the domestic housing of low-income populations. In this context, the article seeks to awaken the dialogue on formal strategies for open spaces around social housing and the respective environmental qualities related to human health. The intention is to debate the spaces of intermediation between the buildings, the urban voids as continuity and connectivity strategies for the integration of networks of green areas and their benefits. Thus, it contributes to the debate on land use patterns in communities in situations of social vulnerability and the benefits of free spaces in cities, raising questions about design strategies for green areas in communities in situations of social vulnerability. A Mobile Adhoc Network is a multihop self-configuring network without any fixed infrastructure of wirelessly connected devices. Due to node mobility and, dynamic topology, designing and implementing reliable routing in MANET is a major challenge. This paper provides the comparative performance analysis of DSR, AODV and DSDV. Different types of test scenarios have been designed with fixed number of nodes and varying mobility. The experimental results have been analyzed and recommendations based on the obtained results have been proposed about the significance of each protocol in different scenarios and situations which will help the researcher in the field to select best protocol under predefined conditions with varied mobility. Furthermore, based on the learning from comparative performance analysis, some modification to AODV route discovery process has been proposed and evaluated. The proposed changes have made significant improvement both in throughput and packet delivery fraction.

Purpose The rise of new information and communication technologies forms the cornerstone for the future development of work. The term Industry 4.0 refers to the vision of a fourth industrial revolution that is based on a network of autonomous, self-controlling, self-configuring, knowledge-based, sensor-based and spatially distributed production resources. All in all, different forms of the application of the Industry 4.0 concept can be observed, ranging from autonomous logistic transport systems drawn upon the idea of swarm intelligence to smart knowledge management systems. This paper aims to develop a theoretical framework to analyze different applications of Industry 4.0 on an organizing continuum. The general research questions are: What forms of organizing digitalized work lead to the reproduction of routines, and what forms foster innovation within Industry 4.0? The authors thus analyze the consequences of different forms of organizing work on workers’ perceptions and the results of the working process. Design/methodology/approach This paper provides case studies for different stages of the organizing continuum in the context of Industry 4.0. The cases and a further analysis of all 295 funded projects are based on the Platform Industry 4.0 Map, which is part of the Industry 4.0 initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The consequences for people acting in such organizational and digitally supported structures are discussed. Findings A variety of applications of Industry 4.0 can be found. These applications mainly vary in the dimensions of the degree of formalization, the location of control authority, the location of knowledge and the degree of professionalization. At the right side of the organizing continuum, the digitalization organizes a work environment that supports highly qualified humans. They have broad leeway and a high degree of autonomy to design and create innovative forms of digitalization for tomorrow. At the left side of the organizing continuum, Industry 4.0 structures a work environment with narrow leeway, a low degree of autonomy and a top-down structure of control authority predetermined by digital applications. In this case, employees fill the gaps the machines cannot handle. Research limitations/implications As the paper focuses on Industry 4.0 developments in Germany, the comparability with regard to other countries is limited. Moreover, the methodological approach is explorative, and broader quantitative verification is required. Specifically, future research could include quantitative methods to investigate the employees’ perspective on Industry 4.0. A comparison of Industry 4.0 applications in different countries would be another interesting option for further research. Practical implications This paper shows that applications of Industry 4.0 are currently at a very early stage of development and momentarily organize more routines than innovations. From a practical point of view, professional vocational and academic training will be a key factor for the successful implementation of digitalization in future. A joint venture of industry and educational institutions could be a suitable way to meet the growing demand for qualified employees from the middle to the right-hand of the organizing continuum in the context of Industry 4.0. Social implications Industry 4.0 is designed by men, and therefore, humans are responsible for whether the future work situation will be perceived as supportive or as an alienated routine. Therefore, designers of Industry 4.0, as well as politicians and scientists, absolutely must take the underlying outcomes of digitalized work into account and must jointly find socially acceptable solutions. Originality/value This paper provides a promising avenue for future research on Industry 4.0 by analyzing the underlying organizational structures of digital systems and their consequences for employees. Moreover, the paper shows how Industry 4.0 should be organized to simply reproduce routines or to support innovation.

In the maintenance domain of the construction industry, digital twins have been actively introduced based on the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution with growing interest in three-dimensional spatial information facility management and disaster response service using digital twin technology. In particular, disasters or abnormal situations in an underground utility tunnel (UTU) can cause serious casualties and property damage since key elements of a city such as power, communications, water supply, and heating facilities are collectively accommodated in a certain underground space. This study established the methodology for implementing an underground utility tunnel through a digital twin. The novelty of this study is demonstrating a sequential procedure of implementing digital twin technology by configuring major layers such as data acquisition, modeling, and service. This methodology can serve as reference material or a training aid for implementing a digital twin of underground facilities or underground utility tunnels in the future; the proposed methodology will be verified when an actual digital twin service is provided.

This digital transformation can be assessed under several categories of cultural, social, and economic situations. Traditionally, universities are known as formal institutions with emerging education trends, but it is mandatory to address the managerial work and implications of the institutions themselves. Particularly, universities play a relevant role in understanding the effective digital transformation in communities, but the profile of the educational system is very important for configuring this process. This research points out the main dimensions that prevent societies from increasing their educational level. By using comparative data analysis and documentary references, this paper highlights a systemic perspective for understanding the digital transformation in higher education, but it also expands the range to managerial decisions about the role educational ecosystems play in this transformation. Moreover, this study provides an overview of how relational elements configure management in higher education institutions.

Abstract. This paper discusses the basic principles of operation of a controller intended to limit the electrical energy consumption. The energy consumer is controlled depending on the amount of energy used, the magnitude of the load current and the pre-set permissible twenty-four-hour limit of electricity. The following possible situations are covered: the consumer has used energy equal to or less than the limit set within a 24-hour period; the consumer has used up the entire energy limit in less than 24 hours; the current through the consumer periodically exceeds the pre-set current limit; and training the consumer to use energy wisely by applying sanctions – temporary disconnections of the power supply. The method for programming and configurating the controller by means of a specialized remote equation is shown.

Structural health monitoring (SHM) can be more efficient with the application of a wireless sensor network (WSN). However, the hardware that makes up this system should have sufficient performance to sample the data collected from the sensor in real-time situations. High-performance hardware can be used for this purpose, but is not suitable in this application because of its relatively high power consumption, high cost, large size, and so on. In this paper, an optimal remote monitoring system platform for SHM is proposed based on pulsed eddy current (PEC) that is utilized for measuring the corrosion of a steel-framed construction. A circuit to delay the PEC response based on the resistance–inductance–capacitance (RLC) combination was designed for data sampling to utilize the conventional hardware of WSN for SHM, and this approach was verified by simulations and experiments. Especially, the importance of configuring sensing modules and the WSN for remote monitoring were studied, and the PEC responses caused by the corrosion of a specimen made with steel were able to be sampled remotely using the proposed system. Therefore, we present a remote SHM system platform for diagnosing the corrosion condition of a building with a steel structure, and proving its viability with experiments.

In this article, we propose a novel method that aims to improve upon existing moving-target defences by making them unpredictably reactive using probabilistic decision-making. We postulate that unpredictability can improve network defences in two key capacities: (1) by re-configuring the network in direct response to detected threats, tailored to the current threat and a security posture, and (2) by deceiving adversaries using pseudo-random decision-making (selected from a set of acceptable set of responses), potentially leading to adversary delay and failure. Decisions are performed automatically, based on reported events (e.g., Intrusion Detection System (IDS) alerts), security posture, mission processes, and states of assets. Using this codified form of situational awareness, our system can respond differently to threats each time attacker activity is observed, acting as a barrier to further attacker activities. We demonstrate feasibility with both anomaly- and misuse-based detection alerts, for a historical dataset (playback), and a real-time network simulation where asset-to-mission mappings are known. Our findings suggest that unpredictability yields promise as a new approach to deception in laboratory settings. Further research will be necessary to explore unpredictability in production environments.

Estudo bibliográfico que visa compreender a experiência existencial no pensamento freiriano, atentando para três questões principais: 1. Em que consiste a experiência existencial em Freire? 2. Por que ela é fundamental ao trabalho que pretende ser realmente educativo? 3. Por que a experiência existencial, como princípio educativo, e educação bancária não se correspondem? Esses questionamentos conduziram ao aprofundamento do conceito, em torno do qual gravitam outras noções básicas da Pedagogia da Humanização. Pautada na educabilidade dos homens e das mulheres e no seu inacabamento, a teoria freiriana é esperançosa, amorosa em relação ao mundo. Trata-se de uma contínua busca da conscientização e libertação humana em relação ao império de ações afogadoras de suas experiências reais, desrespeitando homens e mulheres como intérpretes insofismáveis de sua própria existência. O modo existencial de viver é próprio aos humanos, configurando-se na busca de ser com os outros, possibilitando a comunicação, a convivência e a experiência compartilhada realizada na mediação das ações em torno do mundo. Na imediata leitura de mundo é que reside a experiência existencial primária e fundamental dos humanos, em que se experimenta o existir inédito e se apreende subjetivamente a realidade. Para o autor, é impossível a educação que desconsidere a cotidianidade transcorrida nessa esfera existencial. These questions led to the deepening of the concept, around which basic notions of the Pedagogy of Humanization gravitate. Based on the educability of men and women and their incompleteness, the Freirian theory is hopeful, loving towards the world. It is a continuous search for human awareness and liberation in relation to the empire of drowning actions of their real experiences, disrespecting men and women as unmistakable interpreters of their own existence. The existential way of living is proper to humans, configuring itself in the search of being with others, enabling the communication, the coexistence and the shared experience realized in the mediation of the actions around the world. In the immediate reading of the world lies the primary and existential experience as humans, in which one experiences the unprecedented existence and subjectively grasps reality. For the author, it is impossible education that disregards the everyday life passed in this existential sphere. Finally, the situation, which constitutes one of the indispensable aspects related to existential experience, does not constitute an important aspect for the banking educational agents who present their proposal according to a ready agenda, standardized, based on fixed premises whose questions are considered as unproductive.Keywords: Experience.
