Abstract (sommario):
Deputy Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning was a part of unit in Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. Implementation of Procurement of Goods/Services to Deputy Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning through E-Catalogs is still not optimal. This study aims to determine Promotion Mix of E-Catalog at Deputy Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs. This research was conducted using a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by documents review and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by matching data from document reviews and interviews to describe the results of the research. Based on the three aspects measured, namely the sales promotion aspect, the publicity aspect, and the personal selling aspect which shows that Promotion Mix of E-Catalog at Deputy Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, has not gone well yet. The results of interviews and document review concluded that: first, the price offered in the E-Catalog tends to be higher than the direct procurement process. Second, the items contained in the E-Catalog were incomplete and the information contained in the E-Catalog was still difficult to understand. Third, the menus in the E-Catalog were still unfamiliar so they were not user friendly. As an effort to optimize the promotion mix at E-Catalog to the Deputy for Coordination of Regional Development and Spatial Planning, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the author suggested several things as follows: Carry out the procurement of commodities/services at the beginning ; Be more selective in determining the specifications of commodities/services, especially if the price offered on the E-Catalog is more expensive; Complete the existing processes in the E-Catalog to completion; Understand the information contained in the E-Catalog; Be more selective in finding the commodities according to the required specifications; Adapt to implement the procurement of commodities/services through ecatalogs; Increase the office bandwidth capacity.

Abstract (sommario):
IntroductionPatient-centred care and care coordination are each key priority areas for delivering high quality healthcare. However, the intersection between these two concepts is poorly characterised. We theorise that greater advancements in healthcare quality could be realised when care is organised in a way that aligns with patients’ preferences, needs and values across every level of the healthcare system. There is currently no published review that describes the intersection of patient-centred care and care coordination. We will undertake a scoping review that will be foundational to the development of a conceptual framework for patient-centred care coordination that integrates and synthesises the overlap between these two concepts and describe how it manifests across levels of the healthcare system. Methods and analysisA multidisciplinary team of reviewers will conduct a scoping review of published and grey literature to identify and synthesise key concepts at the intersection of patient-centred care and care coordination, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guidance for scoping reviews. Databases we will use in our search include PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Social Sciences Abstracts, Nursing and Allied Health Premium, Health and Medical Collection, and PsycINFO. Articles will be included that are English-language; published during or after 2001; describe a theory, conceptual model, theoretical framework or definition that addresses both patient-centred care and care coordination. Articles will be excluded if they do not address the intersection of patient-centred care and care coordination; discuss a patient-centred medical home without discussion on patient-centred care concepts; or discuss a paediatric, inpatient or palliative care setting. A data extraction template will facilitate qualitative thematic analysis and findings will be synthesised into a conceptual framework.Ethics and disseminationThis work does not require ethics approval. A preliminary framework will be presented to a group of patient stakeholders for refinement before dissemination through a peer-reviewed journal and conference presentations.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Background The cost of an antibiotic stewardship intervention is an important yet often neglected factor in antibiotic stewardship research. We studied the costs associated with successful implementation of the “Kicking CAUTI” intervention to decrease treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB). Methods A central coordinating site facilitated roll-out of an audit and feedback intervention to decrease unnecessary urine cultures and antibiotic treatment in patients with ASB in four Veterans Affairs medical centers. Each site had a physician site champion, a part-time research coordinator, and 1-2 additional participants (often pharmacists). Participants kept weekly time-logs to collect the minutes associated with intervention tasks, and percent full-time effort (FTE) and costs were computed. For weeks with missing logs the average minutes for each activity associated with each type of professional was imputed. Salary information was obtained from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Association of American Medical Colleges. Results Research coordinator time comprised of majority of the personnel time, followed by the physician site champions (Figure 1). Each intervention site required about 10% FTE/year of a research coordinator, and 3.5% FTE/year and 3.8% FTE/year of a physician and pharmacist respectively. The coordinating site required 37% FTE/year of a research coordinator, and 9% FTE of a physician to spearhead the intervention. Research coordinators predominantly spent their time on chart-reviews and project coordination. Physician champions predominantly spent their time on delivering audit and feedback and project coordination. The intervention cost USD 22,299/year per site on average, and USD 45,359/year for the coordinating site. Conclusion The Kicking CAUTI intervention was successful at reducing urine cultures and associated antibiotic use, with minimal time from the local team members. The research coordinators’ time was primarily spent on collection of research data, which will not be necessary outside of a research project. Our model of centralized facilitation makes economic sense for widespread scale-up and dissemination of antibiotic stewardship interventions in integrated healthcare systems. Abstract (sommario):
A legal system that initially has only one mechanism of oversight can, over the course of its evolution, introduce another to complement this model. This especially occurs when it exhibits significant shortcomings. Combining two types of constitutional review of laws—one a priori and the other a posteriori—within the same system is not straightforward, as their coordination is not self-evident. To successfully achieve an effective combination of these reviews, it is necessary to establish mechanisms that promote their harmonization, specifically by better defining the legal authority of the judgments rendered by each type of review. This ensures a balance and effective interaction between them. Thus, the duality of reviews helps to more effectively protect the legal order against violations arising from unconstitutionalities. The purpose of a priori review is to prevent the entry into force of legislative provisions that are contrary to the Constitution. If such provisions escape the constitutional judge’s scrutiny or if a law becomes unconstitutional in practice, the a posteriori review then serves to prevent its continued application. The coexistence of these two types of review is, therefore, an effective means of ensuring better compliance with constitutionality. The conditions for a viable combination of these reviews must be defined by public authorities before the constitutional judge, responsible for their implementation, ensures their effectiveness. The judge plays an important role, as the success or failure of this coordination depends on them. In France, the constitutional judge has facilitated a harmonious coordination of a priori and a posteriori reviews, where they complement each other smoothly, without one overshadowing the other. Conversely, in Spain, the Constitutional Court "sabotaged" the functioning of a priori review, leading to its abolition. Comparatively, the French model of combination stands out as an exception

Gruber, Drew. "Coordinating Code in Virginia’s Historic Districts". VCU Scholars Compass, 2010. http://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/etd/2304.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
This thesis explores the evolution and limitations of regulatory and historic district overlay zones and the inherent conflicts between the two as applied in Virginia. Historic district overlay zoning and the establishment of local historic districts and design review boards has developed in response to the failures of traditional zoning techniques to adequately protect the architectural character of Virginia’s historic urban landscapes. After almost fifty years of practice and improvement in the fields of urban planning and historic preservation, synchronizing regulatory and historic district overlay zones still presents difficulties for municipal administrators. Several Virginia jurisdictions are highlighted in the thesis to provide an insight into the application of these planning and preservation paradigms. These different municipal codes will provide a sample set of the most common problems which exist between regulatory and historic district overlay zoning. These issues include-design, nonconforming uses, code and conflicting ordinances, appeals, and demolitions by neglect clauses. While this thesis seeks to identify the most common problems found between regulatory and historic districts within Virginia it is not comprehensive nor does it provide recommendations for how to address the inherent conflicts.

Abstract (sommario):
There are numerous applications of game theory in the analysis of supply chains where multiple actors interact with each other in order to reach their own objectives. In this paper we review the use of non-cooperative game theory in inventory management within the newsvendor framework describing a single period inventory control model with the focus on horizontal interactions among multiple independent newsvendors. We develop a framework for identifying these types of horizontal interactions including, for example, the models with the possibility of inventory sharing via transshipments, and situations with substitutable products sold by multiple newsvendors. Based on this framework, we discuss and relate the results of prior research and identify future research opportunities.

Abstract (sommario):
Global Software Development (GSD) is an emerging trend in today's software world in which teams are geographically dispersed, either in close proximity or globally. GSD provides certain advantages to development companies like low development cost, access to cheap and skilled labour etc. This type of development is noted as a more risky and challenging as compared to projects developed with teams under same roof. Inherently the nature of GSD projects are cooperative in which many software developers work on a common project, share information and coordinate activities. Coordination is a fundamental part of software development. GSD comprises different types of development systems i.e. insourcing, outsourcing, nearshoring, or farshoring, whatever the types of development systems selected by a company there exist the challenges to coordination. Therefore the knowledge of potential challenges, associated threats to coordination and practices to mitigate them plays a vital role for running a successful global project.

Abstract (sommario):
Context. In this ever-changing world of software development, the process of organizations adopting distributed development is gaining prominence. Implementing various development processes in such distributed environment is giving rise to numerous issues which affects the quality of the product. These issues could be due to the involvement of architects across national borders during the process of development. In this research, the focus is to improve software quality by addressing the impact of maturity and scale between teams and its affect on code review process. Further to identify the issues behind the distribution between teams separated by geographical, temporal and cultural distances. Objectives. The main objective of this research is to identify how different factors such as maturity on quality of deliverables, scale and distribution that impacts the code review process affecting software quality. Based on code review comments in data set, the factors that were examined in this research are evolvability of defects and difference in the quality of software developed by mature and immature teams within code review process. Later on, the issues related to the impact of geographical, temporal and cultural distances on the type of defects revealed during distributed development are identified. Methods. To achieve these objectives, a case study was conducted at Ericsson. A mixed approach has been chosen that includes, archival data and semi-structured interviews to gather useful data for this research. Archival data is one of the data collection method used for reviewing comments in data set and gather quantitative results for the study. We employed approaches such as descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and graphical representation to analyze data. Moreover, to strengthen these results, semi-structured group interview is conducted to triangulate the data and collect additional insights about code review process in large scale organizations. Results. By conducting this research, it is inferred that teams with a lower level of maturity produce more number of defects. It was observed that 35.11% functional, 59.03% maintainability, 0.11% compatibility, 0.028% security, 0.73% reliability, 4.96% performance efficiency, 0.014% portability of defects were found from archival data. Majority of defects were of functional and maintainability type, which impacts software quality in distributed environment. In addition to the above-mentioned results, other findings are related to evolvability of defects within immature teams which shows that there is no particular trend in increase or decrease in number of defects. Issues that occur due to distribution between teams are found out in this research. The overall results of this study are to suggest the impact of maturity and scale on software quality by making numerical assumptions and validating these finding with interviews. Interviews are also used to inquire information about the issues from dataset related to the impact of global software engineering (GSE) distances on code review process. Conclusions. At the end of this research it is concluded that in these type of projects, immature teams produce more number of defects than mature teams. This is because when large-scale projects are distributed globally, it is always harder to share and acquire knowledge between teams, increase group learning and mentor teams located in immature sites. Immature developers have problems of understanding the structure of code, new architects need to acquire knowledge on the scope and real time issues for improving quality of software. Using results presented in this thesis, researchers can find new gaps easily to extend the research on various influences on code review process in distributed environment.

Abstract (sommario):
This thesis explores the relationship between motor difficulties and wider educational, social and emotional outcomes. The first two sections have been prepared in accordance with author guidelines of the journals proposed for submission. The first paper presents a systematic review of the literature examining the effects of poor motor skills on self-esteem (global and/or domain specific) in children and adolescents. Four databases were searched for articles focusing on motor skills and self-esteem in children and adolescents. 26 potentially relevant studies were identified and from the 26, eight studies met the inclusion criteria. A synthesis of the studies reveals that there appears to be a relationship between motor skills and self-esteem, however this relationship is complex and likely to vary depending on age, gender and co-morbidity. Implications for EP practice are discussed. The second paper is an exploratory product evaluation of the Manchester Motor Skills Programme (MMSP). A mixed methodology was used to explore outcomes for four KS2 children with motor skills difficulties who participated in the MMSP. The children's motor skills, social skills, academic outcomes and self-esteem were assessed using standardized measures pre and post intervention and at follow up. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group were used to elicit the views of pupils, the class teacher and the group leader. Results indicated improvements in some motor skill domains which were sustained at follow up. Qualitative data highlights perceived improvement in children's social skills, confidence, and use of meta-cognitive strategies. Further research is needed into outcomes of the MMSP on children's social skills and self-esteem. The third paper discusses the dissemination of the research, providing a summary of the research development implications from the research at, the research site and at a wider Local Authority level. A strategy for promoting the dissemination and impact of the research will be discussed.

It has been a topical issue about the coordination of Confucianism and Taoism since the Chin Dynasty. During the Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasty, Neo-Confucianism had become the main stream of that time. It has become the most important academic study that attracted professors to focus their studies on this era. If we evaluate the coordination of Confucianism and Taoism from the perspective of Taoism, we could realize the historical position of Taoism and establish a complete content of Chinese thoughts. Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThis chapter reviews the main features of the Spanish model of fiscal federalism and its evolution over the last four decades. It begins by describing the allocation of expenditure responsibilities among the three levels of government in the country: central, regional and local. The allocation of taxes between levels of government is then presented, followed by a discussion of the role of intergovernmental transfers, with particular reference to equalization transfers. Next, we address the macroeconomic coordination and control of the subcentral deficit and indebtedness. The chapter concludes by setting out the challenges for fiscal federalism in Spain in the coming years.

AbstractCoordinating creative group work remains a major organizational challenge, especially in teams with specialists representing distinct knowledge domains. The author defines coordination as the process through which people arrange actions in ways that they believe will enable them to accomplish their goals. An increase of complex tasks, specialization and interdependencies among specialists make the question of how coordination occurs in teams of diverse experts particularly relevant to the study of organizations.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractIn the absence of a global bankruptcy court for sovereign debt, crises leading to debt restructurings have evolved within an imperfect architecture mired in creditor coordination problems. These challenges are now part of a permacrisis of interconnected global dysfunction that defies existing institutions and their approaches to tackling recurrent problems. The chapter reviews the ways in which debt restructurings have taken place since the 1980s: from the securitization of commercial bank loans to financial fragility and new defaults on sovereign bonds. The costs of default have been compounded by the risks of litigation in foreign courts brought about by a minority of creditors. In the shadow of failed attempts to institute a statutory mechanism for resolving sovereign debt disputes, “market-based” contractual changes have become the norm. However inventive and incremental, these do not preclude some creditors from trying to leverage contract provisions to disrupt restructurings and extract larger repayments from debtors. Without fundamental change brought about by global cooperation, ad hoc ingenuity has had to make do. The past is thus condemned to remain an insufficient prologue to a future where sovereign debt restructurings are a predictable part of an ever-confounding permacrisis.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe impact of a large inland earthquake is profound because of its intense shakes and the associated landslides and debris flows. The quake-induced landslides and debris flow are often the most devastating secondary effect of an earthquake in terms of all kinds of losses, causing long-lasting problems in post-quake rehabilitation activities. An earthquake-induced landslide is just one scene of ever-evolving mountain topography. Therefore, studying terrain dynamics is vital to comprehend the possibility of hazards and propose and apply rational rehabilitation tactics. Though serious, the damage caused by the Mid-Niigata Prefecture Earthquake of October 23, 2004, has given us a rare opportunity to study the landform changes caused by an earthquake that hit an active-folding mountainous terrain. To deal with rehabilitation problems in a scientific manner, a research program, “Earthquake damage in active-folding areas: the creation of a comprehensive data archive and suggestions for its application to remedial measures for civil-infrastructure systems,” was set up getting the Special Coordination Funds for Promoting Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). This article reviews some significant findings obtained through this project and even beyond it. The results show that essential aspects of quake-caused problems were linked to deep-seated tectonic displacements, namely the internal driving stress field associated with earthquakes to evolve the active-folding terrain.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT Chelating agents are organic chemicals that form coordination complexes with a wide range of metal ions in aqueous solution. These complexes are characterized by the formation of multiple rings in solution that give unusual stability to the complex. This extra stability is known as the "chelate effect." Because of their ability to solubilize and stabilize metals such as Ca2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Cu2+, Ni2+ and Cr3+, chelating agents have found widespread use in formulations designed to clean industrial equipment fouled with metal oxides and salts. Equipment cleaned have included utility boilers and superheat/reheaters, cooling water systems, heat exchangers and many components of nuclear power plants. This paper reviews the use of chelating agents in chemical cleaning formulations including citric acid, EDTA, HEDTA and organophosphonates. Included are discussions of the mechanisms of scale dissolution and passivation, corrosion and disposal of the waste cleaning solutions.

Abstract (sommario):
The overall purpose of this paper is the analysis of remedies in the matter of awarding public procurement contracts, with emphasis on the Romanian case, in the context of EU law. Methodologically, the study aims to analyse Romanian Law no. 101/2016 on appeals and remedies for the award of public contracts, sectorial contracts and works concession contracts and service concession contracts, as well as for the organization and operation of the National Council for the Settlement of Complaints. This law transposes the Directive 89/665/EEC on the coordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions on the application of review procedures for the award of public supply contracts and public works contracts and Directive 92/13/EEC on the coordination of laws, regulations and administrative provisions relating to the application of Community rules on the procurement procedures of entities engaged in activities in the sectors of water, energy, transport and telecommunications. The critical approach also takes into account doctrinal studies, given that remedy legislation has been applied in Romania since 2016. The results of the research highlight that Romania has transposed the European directives and the case law reflects certain peculiarities of remedies in public procurement that are a continuous challenge for theoreticians and practitioners.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract When it was time for a major fertilizer distribution facility in the Midwest to have its conveyor structure repainted, the owner started contemplating full-time independent third-party inspection. After reviewing the contractor's schedule and the size of the crew, it became apparent that this approach would interfere with the contractor's operations and be cost prohibitive for the owner. What to do? Since the contract required the contractor to perform quality control (QC) inspections, the owner decided to retain a quality assurance (QA) firm to monitor the contractor's QC activities and reports, and make periodic visits to confirm the quality of the work and the efficacy of the contractor's QC plan. In this paper, the owner, contractor's project manager, and the QA consultant review how this was accomplished from QC inspector training, pre-construction meeting, data-sharing, coordination to final inspection. As always safety was the first concern on this project, but in addition to access and working at heights, other challenges included chloride contamination, steel replacement, conveyor operation, working over water and railroad tracks, and of course rain. With good communication, owners, contractors, QA consultants, and paint manufacturers can achieve a successful quality repainting project even at a distance.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Since Space Tourism is closer to reality, a review of the most prevalent neurological pathologies in microgravity is needed. Objective: Review major neurological afflictions in astronauts. Methods: Research into bibliographic reviews at PubMed, using the descriptors “astronauts” and “neurological disorders” Results: Several neurological alterations, such as ataxy, intracranial hypertension (ICH), neuromuscular disorders, ocular disturbances and changes in cognitive functions were assigned to a microgravity environment. Astronauts returning from space presented ICH; being the main pathophysiology hypothesis referred to a change in the liquor dynamics as a result of venous drainage obstruction and hematoencephalic barrier. Also, gravity doesn’t act on the neurovestibular system during space flights. This phenomenon can lead to Space Motion Sickness, situation in which astronauts report balance, coordination and sight disturbances, as well as movement illusions. A subset of this syndrome, called Space Movement Disorder, may occur; which includes symptoms, such as flushing, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and malaise. Based on electromagnetic resonance, the occurrence of problems with movement time, balance, spatial working memory and motor coordination after the return of the space crew suggests alterations in cerebellum’s function and structure, which is responsible for the coordination and the fine motor control. Conclusion: Most studies presented disruptions of the neurofunctional homeostasis, for instance, changes in functional connectivity while in rest and alterations of the white and grey matter in sensor motor, somatosensory and cognitive regions of the brain.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
This paper reviews the literature and documented evidence on capacity and coordination issues in crisis situations, where social protection and humanitarian assistance intersect. The paper finds that while there is a burgeoning literature that mentions capacity and coordination, very little of this focuses on crisis situations. Although both terms are mentioned frequently, they are rarely defined or robustly and systematically assessed. The little literature that does exist points to a substantial knowledge gap on both the ways in which capacity and coordination deficits undermine the delivery of social assistance in crisis situations and what can be done to overcome these deficits. Frameworks that could be useful in exploring these questions in crisis situations are identified including those that differentiate between technical and functional elements of capacity, and between technical, political, social and behavioural aspects of coordination.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Bimanual coordination deficits are one of the most common characteristics of people with stroke, which have an adverse influence on their independence of activities daily living and other occupational activities. Existing studies and reviews mainly focused on how to improve motor impairment of the affected limb and cortical activation and functional connectivity in the impaired brain hemisphere by a series of rehabilitation strategies, e.g., non-invasive brain stimulation and rehabilitation robotics. It should be noted that functional bilateral abilities are not a simple compound and a combination of one-handed skills. Therefore, the bimanual coordination dysfunctions still need to be explored and addressed in clinical practice. Better understandings of the neural mechanisms underlying bilateral cooperative tasks in healthy subjects and changes in neural activities in stroke patients help foster the development of effective rehabilitation strategies, such as TMS and tDCS, and enhance the bimanual coordination through stimulating altered cortical areas, which is essential for boosting the independence and quality of daily life in stroke individuals.

Abstract (sommario):
The coordination of transportation and land use (also known as “smart growth”) has been a long-standing goal for planning and engineering professionals, but to this day it remains an elusive concept to realize. Leaving us with this central question -- how can we best achieve transportation and land use coordination at the corridor level? In response, this report provides a review of literature and practice related to sustainability, livability, and equity (SLE) with a focus on corridor-level planning. Using Caltrans’ Corridor Planning Process Guide and Smart Mobility Framework as guideposts, this report also reviews various principles, performance measures, and place typology frameworks, along with current mapping and planning support tools (PSTs). The aim being to serve as a guidebook that agency staff can use for reference, synergizing planning insights from various data sources that had not previously been brought together in a practical frame. With this knowledge and understanding, a key section provides a discussion of tools and metrics and how they can be used in corridor planning. For illustration purposes, this report uses the Smart Mobility Calculator (https://smartmobilitycalculator. netlify.app/), a novel online tool designed to make key data easily available for all stakeholders to make better decisions. For more information on this tool, see https://transweb.sjsu.edu/research/1899-Smart-Growth-Equity-Framework-Tool. The Smart Mobility Calculator is unique in that it incorporates statewide datasets on urban quality and livability which are then communicated through a straightforward visualization planners can readily use. Core sections of this report cover the framework and concepts upon which the Smart Mobility Calculator is built and provides examples of its functionality and implementation capabilities. The Calculator is designed to complement policies to help a variety of agencies (MPOs, DOTs, and local land use authorities) achieve coordination and balance between transportation and land use at the corridor level.

Abstract (sommario):
Demand for health and social care continues to rise in the UK as people are living longer and a greater proportion have multiple health conditions requiring long-term treatment or care (such as diabetes, heart disease or dementia). Integrating health and social care has been considered as a possible response to these demographic changes, with the potential benefits including improved patient experience, and better quality of care through increased coordination and efficiency. It has been argued that effective integration could result in reduced use of hospital beds, lower hospital admissions rates, shorter hospital stays, shorter recovery periods and lower readmission rates. However, evidence on the impact of integration is mixed, with evaluations variously showing positive, negative and no effects. Cost savings have also been cited as a potential benefit, although reviews have noted that the economic evidence is limited and contradictory.

Lucas, Brian. Urban Flood Risks, Impacts, and Management in Nigeria. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), gennaio 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/k4d.2021.018.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
This summary reviews evidence on the urban flooding impact, risk factors, and management and mitigation measures in Lagos and other cities in Nigeria. Flooding is a common problem every year in many cities across Nigeria, but the impacts of flooding are poorly documented. There is no consistent set of statistics at a national or sub-national level that can be used to compare the impacts of flooding across cities, and reports that focus on particular flood events are often incomplete. The literature notes the principal factors contributing to flood risk including uncontrolled urban growth, inadequate and poorly-maintained drainage systems, solid waste management practices, weakness in institutional capacity and coordination, and warning systems and public awareness. The evidence base for flood impacts, risks, and mitigation efforts at the city level in Nigeria is limited, and much of the information available is low quality, inconsistent, or outdated. Many rely on surveys of city residents rather than objective empirical data, and some of these surveys appear to be poorly designed. A significant number of the academic publications available have been published in non-mainstream journals without the usual level of academic peer review. Recent information is scarce, and a significant amount of the available evidence dates from 2011 and 2012, which coincides with an episode of nationwide flooding that was among the worst in Nigeria’s history.
