Abstract (sommario):
Background: Several studies reported that Thai people have oral health problems as a major problem. Therefore, care and treatment of oral health is an issue to be attentive. At the present, there are many products for oral and dental health care in many forms such as toothpaste, mouthwash, spray, deodorizing and inhibiting bacteria etc.
Aims and Objective: This study investigated the effect of mouthwash containing Dextranase enzyme which affected to the changes of dental plaque (Plague Index) in eighteen dental caries volunteers by two mouthwash formulas; Formula I contained only Dextran

Abstract (sommario):
Dextranase catalyzes the degradation of the substrate dextran, which is a component of plaque biofilm. This enzyme is involved in antiplaque accumulation, which can prevent dental caries. The activity of crude dextranase from Penicillium roquefortii TISTR 3511 was assessed, and the maximum value (7.61 unit/g) was obtained at 37 °C and pH 6. The Plackett–Burman design was used to obtain significant factors for enhancing fungal dextranase production, and three influencing factors were found: Dextran, yeast extract concentration and inoculum age. Subsequently, the significant factors were optimiz

Abstract (sommario):
Background The accumulation of plaque causes oral diseases. Dental plaque is formed on teeth surfaces by oral bacterial pathogens, particularly Streptococcus mutans, in the oral cavity. Dextranase is one of the enzymes involved in antiplaque accumulation as it can prevent dental caries by the degradation of dextran, which is a component of plaque biofilm. This led to the idea of creating toothpaste containing dextranase for preventing oral diseases. However, the dextranase enzyme must be stable in the product; therefore, encapsulation is an attractive way to increase the stability of this enzy

Abstract (sommario):
The prevalence of dental caries continues to increase, and novel strategies to reverse this trend appear necessary. The probiotic Streptococcus salivarius strain M18 offers the potential to confer oral health benefits as it produces bacteriocins targeting the important cariogenic species Streptococcus mutans, as well as the enzymes dextranase and urease, which could help reduce dental plaque accumulation and acidification, respectively. In a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 100 dental caries-active children, treatment with M18 was administered for 3 months and the participa

Background: Dextran is a branched polysaccharide and one of the polymers, present in the biofilm matrix. The dextran plays a perilous role in dental plaque formation, which is involved in the development of some common oral diseases like dental caries. The dextran-hydrolyzing enzymes are under investigation to treat and manage the dental plaques.
Aims and Objective: The present study reporting the preliminary observations on the effect of the use of dextranase-containing mouthwash (DMW) on dental plaque and oral health.

Abstract (sommario):
Biofilm formation is a key virulence factor responsible for a wide range of infectious diseases, including dental caries. Cariogenic biofilms are structured microbial communities embedded in an extracellular matrix that affords bacterial adhesion-cohesion and drug tolerance, making them difficult to treat using conventional antimicrobial monotherapy. Here, we investigated a multitargeted approach combining exopolysaccharide (EPS) matrix-degrading glucanohydrolases with a clinically used essential oils–based antimicrobial to potentiate antibiofilm efficacy. Our data showed that dextranase and m

ABSTRACTCandida albicansand mutans streptococci are frequently detected in dental plaque biofilms from toddlers afflicted with early childhood caries. Glucosyltransferases (Gtfs) secreted byStreptococcus mutansbind to saliva-coated apatite (sHA) and to bacterial surfaces, synthesizing exopolymersin situ, which promote cell clustering and adherence to tooth enamel. We investigated the potential role Gtfs may play in mediating the interactions betweenC. albicansSC5314 andS. mutansUA159, both with each other and with the sHA surface.
