Abstract (sommario):
This study has two objectives, namely (1) to explore the level of entrepreneurial thinking among university students in malaysia and nigeria; and (2) to identify the contribution of university environmental elements in malaysia and nigeria in nurturing students entrepreneurial thinking. This study used a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 162 university students from northern state of malaysia and 92 university students from kaduna state of nigeria. The findings shown that both malaysian and nigerian university students have a moderately high level of entrepreneurial thinking, where the mean score of entrepreneurial thinking of malaysian university students was higher than the mean score of entrepreneurial thinking of nigerian students. All dimensions of entrepreneurial thinking, namely opportunity recognition, risk taking, tolerance of ambiguity and creativity and innovation for both countries were at a moderate level with the same mean ranking. Among the five predictors hypothesized to influence entrepreneurial thinking, four predictors, namely, co-curriculum, lecturers, curriculum and support resources contributed to 55.7% of variation in entrepreneurial thinking among university students in malaysia. The highest environmental elements of malaysian university that significantly contribute to student’s entrepreneurial thinking were co-curriculum, followed by lecturer curriculum and support resources. innigeria only two predictors, lecturers and co-curriculum contributed to 44.3% of variation in entrepreneurial thinking, where lecturers contributed the highest, followed by co-curriculum. Both countries showed that campus did not give a significant contribution to student’s entrepreneurial thinking. The implication of this study showed that both countries need to take entrepreneurial actions in increasing the levels of entrepreneurial thinking among university students the campus for both countries have to be more entrepreneurial to help boosted student entrepreneurial thinking.

Abstract (sommario):
The objective of this study isto identify the contribution of university environment, entrepreneurial interest, and entrepreneurial networking among student entrepreneurial thinking. This study used a quantitative approach where data were collected via survey using questionnaire. The sample consisted of 2001 students from 20 Public Higher Learning Institutions (PHEIs) in Malaysia. Multiple regression (stepwise) analyses was used to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that both entrepreneurial interest and university environment contributed significantly towards entrepreneurial thinking among PHEI in Malaysia. Entrepreneurial networking did not showed significant contribution to entrepreneurial thinking. The implications of this study is thatPHEIs need to equip with relevant entrepreneurial environment and entrepreneurial activities or programs that can boost and enrich students of PHEIs with entrepreneurial thinking. Since this study showed no significance contribution of entrepreneurial networking towards entrepreneurial thinking, efforts have to be taken by PHEIs to build entrepreneurial networking with various entrepreneurial parties and agencies related to entrepreneurship that can give mutual benefit to students, universities and related parties.

Abstract (sommario):
The objectives of this study were to (1) explore the entrepreneurial thinking of public higher learning institutions (PHLIs) students in Malaysia base on their field of study; (2) identify whether there are significant differences in students’ entrepreneurial thinking based on their field of study at PHLIs. This study uses a quantitative approach. The study sample consisted of 2001 undergraduate students from 20 PHLIs in Malaysia. The sample consisted of students in all fields of study which were classified into seven groups, namely literature and social sciences, technical and engineering, information and communication technology, science, education, business, and others. Descriptive statistical methods and one-way ANOVA tests were used to analyze the study data. The results showed that students from all fields of study had an overall medium-high level of entrepreneurial thinking with a mean score of 3.910 and a standard deviation of 0.473. The field of business studies has the highest mean scores, while technical and engineering studies have the lowest mean scores. In addition, this study found significant differences in entrepreneurial thinking of PHLIs students based on their field of study. The results of the Tukey HSD test found that three groups of studies had significant differences with the business study group, namely literature and social sciences, technical and engineering studies groups, and science groups. Implications from this study show that overall the PHLIs can foster entrepreneurial thinking to a high level among students in all fields of study by introducing entrepreneurship education with an entrepreneurial mindset. These include elements of the ability to identify opportunities, creative and innovative, risk-taking, and tolerance for ambiguity. Nurturing entrepreneurial thinking to PHLIs students can provide and realize their entrepreneurial career aspirations as a career choice or as an alternative career after their graduation. Nurturing entrepreneurial thinking to PHLIs students can give students two career options when they graduate, either realizing their entrepreneurial career aspirations as their preferred career or choosing an entrepreneurial career as an alternative career.

Abstract (sommario):
Today, entrepreneurship has gained great importance, especially with the transition from industrial society to information society. Therefore, in order to ensure economic and social development of societies, entrepreneurship must comprehensively be supported, encouraged and entrepreneurship education has to be provided. Many similar qualities and skills among individuals having reflective thinking abilities and entrepreneurial individuals arise when reflective thinking, one of the higher-level thinking skills, is defined as the cognitive inquiry that will lead the individual to produce new knowledge and develop alternative ways. The purpose of this research is to identify whether physical education and sports teachers' reflective thinking themes predict entrepreneurial characteristics. Research is designed in accordance with the relational screening model. Semerci (2007), “Reflective Thinking Tendency Scale” and Yilmaz and Sunbul (2009), “Entrepreneurship Scale for University Students” were used as data collection tool. Multilevel regression analysis was benefitted in the analyze of the data. As a result of this research, it is determined that effective and interrogated teaching sub-dimension was the most independent variable contributing to the entrepreneurial characteristics of physical education and sports pre-service teachers and this was followed by continuous and intentional thinking, responsibility of teaching and science and looking professional sub-dimensions. It has also been determined that sub-dimensions such as open-mindedness, foresighted and sincere and researcher do not make a meaningful contribution to the prediction of entrepreneurial characteristics. Based on these results, it can be said that a pre-service teacher with high entrepreneurial characteristics will have higher reflective thinking tendencies. Besides, it is also possible to analyze how thinking skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving and supra-cognitive thinking predict entrepreneurial characteristics.

Abstract (sommario):
Design continuously re-defines its meaning. Over the last years, the way designers interpret information, solve problems as well as prototype and express ideas has received increased attention from domains outside of traditional design, especially from the business world. However, much of the design thinking discourse outside of traditional design centres around a few widely-read practitioner books and only builds on a rudimentary understanding of its principles. Likewise, the academic literature only offers a few rigorous investigations of the application of design thinking in the management and innovation domain, especially when it comes to thedevelopment of novice multidisciplinary teams. Therefore, this thesis provides an evaluation of the influence of the following five key themes discussed in the design thinking literature: Team diversity, iteration, learning styles, creative confidence, and team communication. These themes were explored during a quantitative quasi-experimental research study, which was built on a novel research framework. Data wascollected from 42 German research participants over a period of 10 month. The longitudinal perspective enabled the researcher to illustrate how novices develop design thinking competencies in projects over time. While investigating team diversity, multidisciplinary teams were found to produce significantly better project outcomes than single-discipline teams. On the other hand, diversity of personality traits was not found to have a significant effect on the final performance of teams. The exploration of iteration behaviour revealed that multidisciplinary teams did not iterate significantly more than single-discipline teams. In addition, more experienced participants approached design thinking projects slightly less iteratively thannovices. Overall, the degree of iteration was not found to have a significant effect on the final team performance. Regarding the use of different learning styles, it was discovered that, teams with a balance of learning styles achieved significantly better project outcomes than less-balanced teams. In terms of learning styles, participants approached design thinking tasks mainly through rational conceptualisation rather than concrete experience. Theanalysis of individual and team confidence showed that creative confidence developed slowly and linearly over the course of a project, but only partly carried over to new project and team settings. Furthermore, no evidence was found that higher levels of creative confidence directly influenced the quality of the project outcomes. The investigation of team communication revealed that the importance of individuals in design thinking teams significantlychanged over the course of a project. Contrary to previous assumptions, high degrees of internal team cohesion were found to have a significant negative effect on project outcomes. While several of these findings clarify and reiterate existing design thinking theory, others call for an adjustment of theory and highlight the need for more rigorous research. Several recommendations are offered for practitioners, educators, and researchers on how to incorporate the presented findings into practice and future research.

Abstract (sommario):
In several countries, the contributions of Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in promoting the livelihood of the communities can clearly be identified. As a matter of fact, international development agencies increase their trust to NGOs in running development projects because they have proven capable of running these projects at a lower cost while reaching the huge number of poor communities. However, several factors have influenced the development of NGOs had little participation, contribution, and impact in undertaking the more structurally-entrenched causes and indicators of poverty. In addition, in most of the countries in Africa, local NGOs are weak with regards to the implementation of development projects. Consequently, there are ongoing questions towards these challenges faced by NGOs, especially at the local level. Most of the research focus on the external factors such as corruption, political instability, climatic unreliability, inadequate resources as the main reasons for less performance of the projects. Additionally, other researchers pinpoint the issue of upward accountability from sponsors and donors, but still they do not tell us the full story, therefore, realizing the gap of internal factors that have been overlooked by many researchers in the successful implementation of projects in Africa. This research seeks to explore the concept of leadership within local NGOs that conduct Economic Empowerment Projects, in East Africa. Through the qualitative study, our research findings would be analyzed to provide an insight to management team on how managerial and entrepreneurial thinking may influence the performance of the community development projects. In this study, the capacity development model will be identified and proposed as a guideline for organizational leaders in the capacity building interventions. This would support development practitioners of NGO sector in tackling the ongoing practical challenges in developing countries. Abstract (sommario):
It has been the primary objective of this doctoral thesis to determine the level of the quality of teaching at a particular tertiary professional school and suggest avenues leading to potential further improvement of the quality of the teaching. Quality of teaching is a relatively broad term; therefore, the thesis places emphasis primarily on the level of the students' key competences, primarily the competence for employment and entrepreneurial activities. In order to fulfil this objective we need to define the quality standards of the teaching at tertiary professional schools, obtain relevant information about contents and structure of curricula, teaching methods and forms deployed at the school and also information about the students' level of knowledge and skills. Last but not least, students and their future employers should express their opinion of the quality of teaching. Scientific benefit of this thesis is the creation of my own model of quality evaluation of the teaching at tertiary technical schools, which in the future, after further verification in practice, could become a basis for elaboration of a uniform methodology for quality evaluation of the teaching at tertiary professional schools, particularly those with economic specialisation. The secondary scientific benefit of the thesis can be found in obtaining the information about contents and methods of education used at a particular economic tertiary professional school and utilisation of such information for development of key competences, with emphasis on the competence for employment and entrepreneurial activities. Results of the research may also serve as a basis for creation of the teaching and learning document for similar branches and also as a basis for decision-making as to whether and in which form should the integrating subject be included into the teaching. The objective of the thesis has been achieved by means of the research made at the Tertiary Business Entrepreneurial School (Vyšší obchodní podnikatelská škola), Masná 13, Prague 1. The research consists in analysis of the contents, method and forms of education at this school, and also in the experiment when an integrating subject is included into the teaching in the third grade. The final output is the recommendations and generalisations applying to tertiary professional schools in general, particularly to tertiary professional schools with economic specialisation. The thesis deals with the issue from two points of view, advancing from the general to the specific so that generally valid recommendations can be pronounced in the conclusion again. The first part of the thesis introduces general startpoints for the ensuing research task. It is subdivided into five chapters. The first chapter describes the subject and methodology of the research. The second chapter defines the significance of human capital for competitiveness of the Czech Republic. The third chapter summarizes the startpoints and tools of the school reform with emphasis on educational objectives in the area of students' key competences. The fourth chapter deals with the substance and tools of entrepreneurial education and thinking. The fifth chapter describes the history and the present of tertiary professional school education, suggesting its potential development in the future. The subsequent part containing the research itself is subdivided into three chapters. The sixth chapter characterises the Tertiary Business Entrepreneurial School, analysing its conditions for educating students, monitoring its competitors and defining its strong and weak points, its opportunities and threats. The seventh chapter contains the substance of the research task itself. The eighth chapter subsequently evaluates the results of the research, verifies the hypotheses and formulates recommendations applicable to tertiary professional schools in general.

Abstract (sommario):
Our research aims to identify, for the PSP PACA our socio-economic partner, the possible ways to support the innovation activity of its members and the home-care services field players. Firstly, based on an expanded literature review, we built a theoretical model of analysis allowing us to highlight all the cognitive, political, constructive and productive fundamental activities in the implementation of entrepreneurial projects intended to transform or strengthen a field. Thus, we rely on a project-based view literature and on three sets of literature on the appropriation of human artefacts. Secondly, we mobilized this model of analysis in the in-depth reading of two cases of projects carried out by the PSP PACA, setting up collective actions. Mobilizing this analytical model allowed us to examine the different ways (organization, collective animation and individual support) by which the PSP team carried out theses collective actions, and their subsequent impact on the activities. It also allowed us to identify, in context, the elements that were appropriated or adopted by the participants while conducting their own projects. We then highlighted a certain number of methodological levers, on which the team of the cluster can rely to optimize - according to its aims and its orientations - the organization and the animation of such collective actions. We articulated these levers according to four different modalities in order to facilitate their mobilization by participants or project carriers. These results then led us to put forward three main axes of theoretical discussion

The small start-up companies usually face various challenges due to limited resources and funding. This qualitative research aims to provide thinking techniques for company to make better decision while avoid blind spot of linear thinking. The research object is a small business branding company named Dream Makers. The research methods used were in-depth interview and systems thinking which includes both a systems story and casual feedback loop diagram. One of the main findings limiting Dream Makers’ growth is its failure to meet scheduled delivery date. Furthermore, increasing consignment numbers to develop brand awareness and extending labor hours to ease the delivery date have made the problem worse. With the help of systems thinking, the generated solutions to the problem were to recruit and train new talents. Overall, low budget thinking techniques such as Positive, Minus and Interesting (PMI) and PMI+ are essentials for small companies to adopt in their decision-making process, which ultimately will help them to function more efficiently, effectively and proactively.

Platzek, Bernd Peter. "The role of intrapreneurship in a globally competitive technology business environment : a design concept and empirical study". Thesis, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/28210.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
The background of this examination is that we live in a dynamic and complex global business environment which requires entrepreneurial thinking and action in organisations (intrapreneurship) if they are to secure viability. Companies in dynamic environments have to deal efficiently with operational tasks in existing businesses and at the same time achieve innovation in existing and new business with a medium to long term focus. This requires flexibility and adaptability to be able to use the opportunities and threats arising from changes in the business environment. The research work in this thesis clarifies the role of intrapreneurship and develops the design concept for holistic intrapreneurship. In the research process a frame of reference with five central findings on the role of intrapreneurship in a dynamic business environment is firstly introduced. In this process, the idea is that holistic and economic thinking together with management oriented theoretical concepts form a fruitful basis for the examination of intrapreneurship. Subsequently in the literature study there follows a synoptic illustration of the individual theoretical concepts on the role of intrapreneurship, the business environment and systems theory concepts. In a further literature analysis, the tasks identified for holistic intrapreneurship are examined and conveyed as a design concept in the synthesis. Three empirical studies reflect the theoretical findings in practical situations. Taking into account the results of the survey, the design concept is extended by elements for the development of a vital, entrepreneurial learning organisation. Entrepreneurial organisations have equally to understand the role of intrapreneurship as a concept for shaping the future as the external environments and the interaction between the organisation and its environment. This complex of themes is worked on in chapter 3 and nine design elements for the specification of the role of intrapreneurship are derived. On the basis of this, entrepreneurial information gathering, shaping of the future and organisation design are derived as central tasks of the entrepreneurial organisation and are analysed in chapter 4. A design concept for holistic intrapreneurship with a role model for the organisation, a conceptual framework for the understanding and analysis of the global business environment as well as a qualitative systems model for the interaction of the entrepreneurial organisation with the business environment is introduced in chapter 5 to aid with implementation of the entrepreneurial tasks. The role of intrapreneurship and the implementation of the role model in practice are examined in chapter 6. In this process, implementation of the role model based on the division of labour is recorded and condensed across all firms. In chapter 6.4, learning areas for the development of an entrepreneurial orientation and for a context-related strengthening of the five entrepreneurial roles in a vital entrepreneurial learning organisation are outlined. The novel contribution of the thesis is to present an integrated concept of holistic intrapreneurship derived from theory-based exploration which thus focuses on the entrepreneurial action of the organisation as a whole and the achievement of viability in a global and dynamic environment. This concept contains learning by the entrepreneurial actors, the entrepreneurial teams and the whole entrepreneurial organisation and defines the building blocks of a vital, entrepreneurial learning organisation.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper examines how the generation of entrepreneurs 50+ should be addressed in order to raise their interest for improving their skills, and how young entrepreneurs and students can profit from the seniorpreneurs’ expertise in production processes and market knowledge as well as from their networks. To promote the promising synergies arising from the collaboration of young and elderly entrepreneurs a project was initiated that combines an integrated product development with business plan design support. Prospective entrepreneurs with industrial experience (seniorpreneurs) and innovative product ideas are matched with multidisciplinary student teams to generate a going-to-market prototype as a basis for starting new businesses. From the standpoint of research and development the balance is excellent with several promising product innovations and business plans for entrepreneurial implementation. The perspective of science and technology transfer demands an urgent desideratum to bring the accumulated value potential into the market.
