Service quality researchers to date have paid scant attention to the issue of the dimensions of service quality. Much of the earlier work accepted the content measured by the SERVQUAL instrument. Following the argument that SERVQUAL only reflects the service delivery process, the study empirically examines the European perspective (i.e. Grönroos' model) suggesting that service quality consists of three dimensions, technical, functional and image, and that image functions as a filter in service quality perception. The results from a cell phone service sample revealed that Grönroos' model is a more appropriate representation of service quality than the American perspective with its limited concentration on the dimension of functional quality.

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to assess the technical (output) and functional (process) quality of mobile services, as well as the role of corporate image as a mediator between technical/functional quality perceptions and overall quality assessment of mobile services. Grönroos’s service quality model is used as the conceptual base of the study. Technical quality was operationalized through two sub-dimensions: baseline network quality and augmented technical quality. The SERVPERF framework was used in the operationalization of the functional quality. A quantitative survey was conducted with (n = 414) customers of the telecommunication operator in B&H. The results suggest that corporate image mediates the effects of (1) two functional quality dimensions (tangibles and assurance) and (2) both technical quality dimensions on the overall service quality assessment. The core technical quality dimension (network) is also directly related to overall service quality perception. A discussion of the results and their implications for theory and practice is then presented.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose and test an e-quality model for leisure products purchased online. Two dimensions are considered in order to configure the scale: functional quality and hedonic quality. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a survey conducted on a sample of 1,109 online customers who had bought travel leisure products, the model and hypotheses were validated using structural equation modeling analysis. Findings – The results reveal that both quality dimensions, through an e-quality second order dimension, are critical to obtaining loyalty through perceived value. In terms of functional quality, however, privacy is not significant for consumers because security programs have improved. Moreover, the e-quality – perceived value – loyalty service chain has been confirmed. In addition, a partial mediating effect of perceived value between e-quality and loyalty has been detected. Practical implications – e-Service managers must be aware of the importance of hedonic quality in seeking to attract and retain customers on their web sites. On the other hand, it has to be considered not only direct effects for evaluating customer loyalty, but also the mediator effect of perceived value is needed. Originality/value – From now on, the paper forecasts that “hedonics” will be present in future scales designed to assess e-quality, although what is really valued as important is still functional quality.

At the heart of the work there is an analysis of dimension ties of an assembly unit ensuring a correlation between some basic stages of a product life cycle at which product quality is formed: designing with the quality parameter standardization of a surface and functional dimension accuracy, manufacturing with the definition of technological parameters and confirmation of accuracy achieved at separated operations and an operation at which changes of quality and accuracy parameters takes place.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to classify service quality elements using Kano’s two-way quality model in terms of their instrumentality to customer satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach – Service quality attributes as borrowed from the literature are classified into attractive, one dimensional, and must-be quality elements. Combinations of participants’ response to the functional and dysfunctional questions formed around each service quality element in the Kano evaluation table were instrumental in categorizing service quality elements. Customer satisfaction index in the form of satisfaction increment index (SII) and the dissatisfaction decrement index (DDI) is calculated for each of the quality attributes and service quality dimensions. Findings – Out of the 15 service quality elements two are attractive quality, six are one-dimensional quality, and seven are found to be of must-be quality. No attribute can be identified as indifferent quality or reverse quality. The convenience dimension and the operating hours attribute list on top in terms of satisfaction increment index score. The reliability dimension and the courteousness attribute list on top in terms of dissatisfaction decrement index score. Practical implications – The findings help the marketer to prioritize improvement of service quality elements and/or dimensions to satisfy customers. Originality/value – The paper develops an integrated approach to facilitate marketers identify which of the service quality elements and/or dimensions require attention to strategize effectively in order to achieve a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Background: Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) is a standard surgical intervention to restore normal blood flow to an obstructed coronary artery. Alterations in sleep patterns are common during recovery after cardiac surgery. Functional Capacity is an important dimension of human functioning, and also a well-documented concern for cardiac surgery patients throughout recovery. Objective: To find the correlation between Sleep Quality and Functional Capacity in Hospitalized Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Patients. Study Design: cross- sectional, observational, correlation study Method: 40 hospitalized CABG patients who fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were willing to participate. After obtaining the written consent, the participants were administered Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and made to performing 6 Minute Walk Test (6MWT) in the Cardio-Vascular & Thoracic Surgery (CVTS) wards. The time required was 30-40 minutes per participant. Results: Spearman Ranks Correlation was used to find correlation between Sleep Quality and Functional Capacity. It was observed that there is a strong negative correlation between Global Score of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (Sleep Quality) and Percent predicted value of 6MWT (Functional Capacity) with a r value of -0.7301 statistically significant with a p value of 0.0001. Higher the Score on Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) lower was the Functional Capacity. Conclusion: The results of this study showed strong correlation between Sleep Quality and Functional Capacity. Sleep quality should be considered as one of the important components of cardiac rehabilitation to improve the functional capacity of these patients. Objective: To investigate if there is convergent validity between the dimensions of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire-Brief Version (WHOQOL-Bref) and the Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) questionnaire. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, a random sample of 872 elderly Southern-Brazilians was evaluated. Questionnaires assessing socio-demographic data and quality of life in general (WHOQOL-Bref) and oral health-related quality of life (OHIP-14) were used. Analysis of the WHOQOL-Bref and OHIP-14 questionnaires used descriptive statistics. The dimensions of the WHOQOL-Bref and OHIP-14 questionnaires were correlated by affinity. The convergence between WHOQOL-Bref and OHIP-14 dimensions was analyzed by Spearman’s correlation coefficients. Results: The social relations dimension of the WHOQOL-Bref presented the greatest mean (18.24 ± 2.30). The physical pain dimension of the OHIP-14 presented a median of 1.0 (0.0 – 3.0). All correlations between the WHOQOL-Bref and OHIP-14 dimensions were significant, negative and associated with a low magnitude. The correlation between WHOQOL-physical and OHIP-functional limitation, OHIP-physical pain, OHIP-physical disability and OHIP-handicap were – 0.164, – 0.262, – 0.196 and – 0.125 respectively. WHOQOL-psychological was associated with OHIP-psychological discomfort and OHIP-psychological disability, and WHOQOL-social showed an association with OHIP-social disability. Conclusions: All correlations analyzed had a positive association of low magnitude. Despite the fact that the WHOQOL-Bref and OHIP-14 instruments have related dimensions, they measure physical, psychological and social relations differently.

troke is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in Indonesia. Post stroke patients has a higher disability hence results in poor quality of life compared with normal population. In Indonesia, studies related to the quality of life of post-stroke patients are scarce, so studies are required to explore the quality of life of post-stroke patients, particularly in West Nusa Tenggara. Aim of this study is to determine the epidemiology of quality of life for post-stroke patients in West Nusa Tenggara. Methods of this study is An Observational with cross-sectional design was performed in population of post-stroke patients admitted to West Nusa Tenggara General Hospital. The quality of life of post stroke patient was evaluated with SSQOL (Stroke Specific Quality of Life) questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed by the appropriate test. Result of this study is the average age of subject is 60.33±10.68 years. Hypertension is a major risk factor of stroke. The average SSQOL score is 177.02±45.75. SSQOL assesses 4 dimension are physical, functional, psychological and social health. Based on the physical dimension, the average score is 17.00, the functional dimension, the average score is 14.91, the psychological dimension, the average score is 13.17 and the social health dimension the average score is 13.44. The quality of life for post-stroke patients in West Nusa Tenggara General Hospital is good.

With the constraints on manufacturing capacity, the satisfaction of product performance and the cost of manufacture are contradictory, the problem between high-performance and low-cost must be solved at the period of design and manufacture for product. To solve this problem, the product loss model has been analyzed, the parameterized and non-parameterized model of anticipant losses has been researched, with concurrent design, in connection with the product with multiple correlated assembly functional dimensions, the relation function between quality loss and process dimension tolerance has been provided, the concurrent tolerance design mathematical model based on lowest-cost and quality loss has been established. The applied case shows that this method has important guiding significance for engineering application.

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the impact of technical (i.e. what is delivered) and functional (i.e. how is it delivered) service quality on consumer happiness in a multichannel environment. In so doing, this study responds to increasing calls from academics (e.g. transformative service research movement) and practitioners to move beyond pure financial measures when deciding how to manage businesses. Design/methodology/approach – With a sample of 809 customers of a medium-sized Belgian mail order firm, within-class regression models tested for the moderating role of channel usage. Findings – Both technical and functional service quality have positive impacts on consumer happiness. However, depending on the channel(s) used, the quality dimension that has the greatest impact on consumer happiness differs. Practical implications – The findings offer managers insights on how they can create and cultivate consumer happiness by delivering excellent service quality. This study stresses the importance of looking beyond purely financial measures to manage firms, and as such deliver value to consumers, the firm itself and society at large. Originality/value – This study advances transformative service research by being one of the few empirical studies relating service quality to consumer happiness in today's multichannel environment.

In the finishing machining, processing parameters directly affects the quality of machined surface. While the micro topography of the surface maps with the fractal dimensions. The paper researched the relation between processing parameters and fractal dimensions through the experiments in order to obtain the relationship. Through the design of orthogonal rotation experiment, determine the experimental parameters. Then measure the experimental sample for the surface and calculate the fractal dimensions using the box counting method. In the end, obtain the functional relation of processing parameters and fractal dimensions by regression method. The results show that the specific processing parameters of the surface can predict the fractal dimension by this formula. And this provides reference for selection of processing parameters.

Tanpura is a multi-stringed accompanying drone instrument extensively used in classical music in India. The instrument is plucked by finger. We know that jitter, shimmer and complexity perturbations (CP) are found also in tanpura signals. The source of origin of these perturbations was reported to be related to some sort of nonlinearity associated with the strings and their mode of attachment. The objective of the present study is to see in what way fractal-dimensional analysis may be helpful to relate the apparent nonlinearity and also if there is any relation of these dimensions with different part of the signals like attack time, quasi-steady state and the decay. In the paper fractal dimension, D0 and generalized dimensions, D2 to D10 and their dynamic behavior over time are studied for 15 tanpuras having four strings each, tuned to Pa (5th note), Sa (tonic), Sa (tonic) and Sa′ (lower octave tonic). The obeying of power law indicates nonlinearity in the production source system. The presence of multifractality is studied through an examination of relationship between q and Dq and the functional relationship between Dqs.

e20516 Background: To explore socio-demographic features and functional dimensions in patients included in a large Moroccan cohort study. Methods: This is the first Moroccan study which was designed to evaluate the quality of life in cancer patients. It is a prospective multicentric cohort study (the 10 existing centers). Patients with breast, cervical, lung or colorectal cancer were included during 2009. EORTC QLQ C30, BR23, CX24 and LC13 questionnaires were used after a transcultural validation. Results: Over 12 months, 2903 patients were included. Breast cancer was the most common (50.4%). Socio-demographic features: The average age at diagnosis was 52.7 years old. Most of them were women (75%). All of patients were Muslims. 75.1% were married. 60% were illiterate. 20% of patients were professionally active and 59.3% were housewives. 27.2% came from rural towns. The socioeconomic status was 65.8% low and 32.4% intermediate. 71.4% of patients had no social welfare. To get to the oncology centers, 77.8% of patients used public transportation while only 0.6% of total cases came in ambulances. The average distance was 150 kilometers. Psychosocial dimensions: For all types of cancer, functional dimensions were noticeably deteriorated with the stage. The lowest scores were observed in lung cancer, whereas the highest ones were for breast cancer. (Emotional function 62.54 vs. 53.05 professional function and leisure 74.14 vs. 42.22 cognitive activity 83.25 vs 26.93 social activity 86,17 vs. 77.69 p<0.001). The financial problems score was higher in lung cancer (68.34). The future perspective was the most affected dimension in QLQ BR23 questionnaire (score40.51), while in QLQ CX24, the sexual enjoyment was the most impacted dimension (score 52.1). Conclusions: In the Moroccan culture, the social relationships the social relationships offset the negative impact of cancer on other functional dimensions. Social activity scores were the less affected. Financial issues are the major concern, resulting in a negative impact on the quality of life of our patients. Finally, over a period of one year, the scores of reported dimensions were significantly improved by the cancer treatment.

Abstract PURPOSE: This health-related quality of life (HRQL) study aimed to evaluate the impact of 90y-Zevalin therapy on the HRQL of older patients with relapsed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) not eligible for stem cell transplantation. Ppsychometric performance of the FACT-G and EQ-5D in the same patient sample was also evaluated. The study was conducted alongside a single arm, phase II clinical trial of 90Y-Zevalin radioimmunotherapy. METHODS: The FACT-G scale contains 27 questions, grouped according to 4 “dimensions” of HRQL relevant to patients with cancer: Physical, Functional, Social and Emotional well-being. The scale provides a total score for overall HRQL and subscale scores for each dimension. The EQ-5D is a generic measure of HRQL used in a range of diseases and comprises a descriptive classification based on 5 broad dimensions and a visual analogue scale. Data from the 2 measures were analyzed with descriptive statistics. Validity was assessed in terms of correlations between individual dimensions. Changes in the dimensions and total scores of the FACT-G and EQ-5D from baseline to wk 12 post-90Y-Zevalin therapy were assessed using paired t-tests. Wk 12 corresponded to the time of expected maximal response to 90Y-Zevalin therapy. RESULTS: Sixty-six of 104 patients enrolled in the clinical study completed the FACT-G and EQ-5D questionnaires at baseline and 35 completed the questionnaires at wk 12. Those who completed the questionnaires at both baseline and wk 12 were more likely to have responded to 90Y-Zevalin (80% were responders) although they were comparable in terms of age (median = 72 yrs) and gender (54% male) to those who only completed the questionnaires at baseline. At baseline, the dimensions of HRQL with the worst scores and therefore most affected by DLBCL, included areas related to energy, pain, anxiety and depression, which would be expected given the symptoms commonly associated with DLBCL such as fatigue. The percentage of patients reporting “some or extreme problems” on each of the EQ-5D dimensions at baseline are summarized in the table. Moderate correlations were observed between the Physical Well-being of the FACT-G and the Usual Activities (=0.60) and Pain/Discomfort (=0.70) dimensions of the EQ-5D. The Emotional Well-being dimension of the FACT-G was moderately correlated with the Anxiety/Depression on the EQ-5D (=0.66). These data suggest the FACT-G and the EQ-5D were measuring some common concepts to patients. All summary dimensions of the FACT-G and EQ-5D showed either a positive trend or little change after treatment with 90Y-Zevalin, with the Physical Well-being dimension of the FACT-G reaching statistical significance (P=0.03) and measuring a 10% improvement over baseline. The change in total score of the FACT-G almost reached significance (P=0.06), as did the emotional dimension of the FACT-G (P=0.10) and the mobility dimension of the EQ-5D (P=0.08). CONCLUSION: Although number of participating patients was small, the EQ-5D and the FACT-G have demonstrated validity for patients with DLBCL following treatment with 90Y-Zevalin. The greatest impact of 90Y-Zevalin therapy is an improvement in physical well-being, with an increased level of energy, reduced amount of pain and reduced level of “feeling ill”. Background: Since 1998 an individual approach in patient's education has been applied at the Institute for Oncology and radiology of Serbia (IORS). Until now about 2500 patients have been informed and advised about the disease they were suffering from. Furthermore, education of patients and their family members is also ongoing at the IORS within European Education Program (EEP) "Learning to live with cancer". This program is based on popular lectures requiring multidisciplinary team consisting of physician, senior nurse, psychologist, nutritionist, defectologist, and social worker. At the IORS, more than 3000 patients were included in this work in groups within EEP. The aim of this research was to evaluate the influence of patients' education on quality of life (QoL). Patients and methods: A hundred and five individuals were divided into three groups of study subjects: experimental cancer patients group (n=35), control cancer patients group (n=35) (who did not have organized education), and control healthy persons group (n=35). All three groups were matched regarding gender, age and education level. The Rotterdam Symptom Checklist was used for the assessment of QoL. Results: We found high correlation between the level of getting informed and total quality of life (r=0.330), physical dimension of quality of life (r=0.233) and poor correlation with psychic dimension of quality of life (r=0.215). All measures of QoL were significantly better in experimental patients' group than in control patients' group: physical dimensions (p<0.01), psychic dimension (p<0.01), functional ability (p<0.01), and total QoL p<0.01). Conclusion: Education significantly improves the quality of life in cancer patients. It seems to be a powerful weapon against the disease, and should be incorporated as an integral part of treatment plan.

The aim of this work is to investigate the influence of gender on recovery after cerebral stroke.It is believed that functional outcome of cerebral stroke (CS) depends on gender. Female gender is mildly negative prognostic factor in after stroke results. Two hundred and two patients who had first ischemic cerebral stroke were questioned with help of, HADS and WHOQOL-Bref questionnaires, looking for differences in recovery depending on gender. Average patients' age was 72+/-13 (ME+/-IR) years. The youngest patient had 40 years, and the oldest 92 years, and medium range was 52 years. There were 112 males and 90 females. Quality of life was equally graded by both male and female after CS (p=0.208). Male patients had significantly better results in physical (p=0.035) and psychological (p=0.020) domain of life quality. After CS, male patients had better results only in memory dimension (p=0.003). Anxiety was statistically more frequent among female patients (p=0.009). Gender did not influence frequency of metabolic syndrome in patients with CS. Quality of life after CS was better in male patients, and statistically significant difference has been shown in physical, psychological domain and memory dimension. Female patients were more anxious then male after CS.

The study aimed to diagnose these dimensions and its availability at schools under study . In order to achieve this goal, the researchers obtained theoretical readings from the attitudes of the teachers. This was done by asking the sample working at secondary schools. The study concluded that the Hariri secondary school for girls and the Al-Wathba boys' school had the highest availability of the critical dimensions. The results of the study were analyzed using SPSS.20. In light of this, the researchers introduced a set of recommendations, the most important was the interest in improving the working conditions in schools by providing a suitable environment for the internal work place such as providing air condition, suitable light tools and other necessary inputs to improve their functional performance.

The quality and assessment of a catalyst can be documented in detail by the application of pore size. This research aims to calculate fractal dimension from the relationship among pore size, maximum pore size and wetting phase saturation and to confirm it by the fractal dimension derived from the relationship among the ratio between surface area per unit pore volume, entry surface area per unit pore volume and wetting phase saturation. In this research, pore size was measured on Au/TiO2 using Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area. Two equations for calculating the fractal dimensions have been employed. The first one describes the functional relationship between wetting phase saturation, pore size, maximum pore size and fractal dimension. The second equation implies to the wetting phase saturation as a function of surface area per unit pore volume, entry surface area per unit pore volume and the fractal dimension. Two procedures for obtaining the fractal dimension have been utilized. The first procedure was done by plotting the logarithm of the ratio between pore size and maximum pore size versus logarithm wetting phase saturation. The positive slope of the first procedure = 3 − Df (fractal dimension). The second procedure for obtaining the fractal dimension was determined by plotting the logarithm of the ratio between surface area per unit pore volume, entry surface area per unit pore volume versus the logarithm of wetting phase saturation. The negative slope of the second procedure = Df − 3. It was found that the plasma + thermally treated Au/TiO2 has the highest fractal dimension value owing to possibility of having holes and channels. The results also show similarity between pore size fractal dimension and surface area per unit pore volume fractal dimension. In our case, as conclusions, the higher the fractal dimension, the better the catalytic activity.

Along with physical impairments, cognition and quality of life may be affected in frail older adults. Yet, evidence is still lacking. The aim of this study was to compare frail and non-frail older adults on physical, cognitive, and psychological dimensions.Methods: Thirty-nine frail and 44 non-frail elders were compared on several measures of physical capacity, cognition, and quality of life. Frailty status was based on a geriatric examination and scored using the Modified Physical Performance Test.Results: After controlling for demographic and medical characteristics, physical capacity measures (i.e. functional capacities, physical endurance, gait speed, and mobility) were significantly lower in frail participants. Frail participants showed reduced performances in specific cognitive measures of executive functions and processing speed. On the quality of life dimension, frail elders reported poor self-perceptions of physical capacity, cognition, affectivity, housekeeping efficacy, and physical health.Conclusion: In addition to the reduced physical capacity, frailty might affect selective components of cognition and quality of life. These dimensions should be investigated in intervention programs designed for frail older adults.

The existential dimension of spirituality has proven to be of great importance over the last two decades when it comes to studies of self-rated health and quality of life. We see the positive effects it has on blood pressure, depression and life expectancy for chemotherapy and HIV patients, to mention just a few examples. In the public health sector, it is interesting to note that this existential/spiritual dimension had already been present in the early years when the term public health first came into the Swedish language. In the year 1926 public health was defined as ‘a people’s physical and spiritual health’. During the intervening years of major medical and scientific technical improvements in the field, the existential/spiritual perspective had been put aside, but now once again this dimension has come into focus. The central question is, how does the existential dimension of health, understood as a person’s ability to create and maintain functional meaning making systems, affect the person’s self-rated health and quality of life? The working theories and basic perspectives in this article are drawn from health research with attention to the existential dimension, public health from the perspective of the psychology of religion, and object relations theory.

Selanjutnya, data yang diperoleh, diolah dan dianalisa dengan bantuan program SPSS 19.0 for windows dengan melakukan uji statistik yaitu uji t dan uji F. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif antara diklat fungsional perencana terhadap kualitas perencana, motivasi kerja terhadap kualitas perencana, dan pengaruh keduanya secara bersama-sama terhadap kualitas perencana. Dimensi diklat fungsional perencana yang memiliki pengaruh terhadap kualitas perencana adalah pengelolaan dan tenaga pengajar diklat. Basierend auf bestehenden Theorien ergibt sich eine dreidimensionale Struktur für die Qualität nachhaltiger Dienstleistungen: Zusätzlich zu den bekannten funktionalen und emotionalen Qualitätsdimensionen wird eine normative Dimension eingeführt. Die empirische Überprüfung erfolgt für eine Carsharing- und eine Recycling-Dienstleistung. Die qualitative Untersuchung bestätigt die dreidimensionale Struktur der Qualität nachhaltiger Dienstleistungen. Die quantitative Untersuchung zeigt ihren positiven Einfluss auf Kundenzufriedenheit und die Absicht der Kunden, die Dienstleistung mitzugestalten. Es wird deutlich, dass Konsumenten Dienstleistungen nutzen und kaufen wollen, die ihre moralischen Werte bezüglich Nachhaltigkeit unterstützen und die ein positives emotionales Erlebnis hervorrufen, jedoch gleichzeitig keinerlei funktionale Nachteile im Vergleich zu nicht nachhaltigen Dienstleistungsalternativen aufweisen. This paper investigates sustainable service quality from a customer perspective. A conceptual model explaining sustainable service quality is developed. The model proposes – additionally to cognitive and emotional dimensions – a normative dimension, and is tested in a car sharing and a recycling service context. Qualitative data supports the three-dimensional structure. Quantitative data confirms its positive impact on customer satisfaction and co-creation intention. In sum, this paper shows that consumers want to use and buy services that support their moral values regarding sustainability, cause a positive emotional experience, but also have no functional disadvantages compared to non-sustainable service options. Background This retrospective cohort study evaluated functional outcome and structural integrity after arthroscopic- or mini-open repair of small- to medium-size rotator cuff tears assessed at long-term follow-up. Methods All patients operated between 2001 and 2004 were invited to participate. Functional outcome was measured by Constant–Murley Score, Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand and Oxford Shoulder Score. Quality of life was assessed with EuroQol Health 5 Dimension. Patient satisfaction was assessed in terms of pain and overall result. Structural integrity of the rotator cuff repair was determined using ultrasound. Results Of the eligible 62 patients, 44 patients were available for follow-up. After a mean of 11.3 years, 76% of the patients had good to excellent functional outcome on the Constant–Murley Score (median 82, range 29–95). The majority of patients reported good results on both Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand and Oxford Shoulder Score (median Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand 5.0, range 1.0–54; median Oxford Shoulder Score 19, range 13–39). The quality of life was also good (mean EuroQol Health 5 Dimension utility score 0.88, standard deviation 0.12). Eighty per cent was satisfied with the overall result. Ultrasound examination revealed structural integrity in 76% of all cases. Conclusion This study shows that functional outcome is good and structural integrity is high for the majority of patients 11.3 years after repair of small- to medium-size rotator cuff lesions.

The distribution of high-quality customers (hereafter HQC) for taxis (including ride-hailing cars) has a significant impact on drivers’ revenue and taxis’ operation efficiency. Based on the taxi global positioning system data, we construct an evaluation model of passengers to discuss the imbalance of consumption in taxi market. The profit margin for each taxi order is calculated, and then a grid-based method is used to distinguish the HQC and the regions with potential higher benefits. We analyze the HQC’s distribution of taxis (including ride-hailing cars) in different areas and in different time periods. We find that the HQC are distributed mainly on the periphery of the main urban area, which indicates that traffic condition is even worse in the urban center because of factors such as congestion. The HQC are more concentrated on workdays and more scattered on nonworkdays, which implies that the public have different travel habits and demands on workdays and nonworkdays. The proportion of HQC in each administrative district or functional zone is not always positively correlated to either the proportion of total orders or the total HQC. This indicates that the distribution of HQC in each administrative district or functional zone is imbalanced. The proportion of orders and that of HQC are roughly the same in the temporal dimension, being higher in the morning and evening rush hours. Compared with the distribution of the HQC of ride-hailing, that of taxis is more imbalanced in the temporal dimension. Relevant departments should further coordinate taxi pricing, strengthen market control, and promote sustainable development in the taxi and ride-hailing markets.

Water samples were collected at seven sites located along the River Nakdong on 30 occasions. Water quality, size and the fractal dimension (dF) of suspended particles were measured. The laser light scattering method was used to obtain the size and dF of suspended particles. The average size of particles in this river ranged from 89 μm and 169 μm, which appears to be relatively coarse compared with other rivers worldwide. The average dF of suspended particles in this study ranged from 1.8 to 1.9. Slight variations in fractal dimension values and other particle characteristics results from various measuring methods available. The correlation analysis showed that DO, TN, NO3 and chlorophyll-a had significant positive relationships with particles size, whereas flow rates and temperature had negative relationships. However, the factors which had positive relationships with particles size showed negative relationships with the dF of suspended particles. Generally, as the size of particles increased, the fractal dimension of particles decreased which indicated that the shape of the larger particles became more irregular relative to that of the smaller ones. To obtain and apply the statistical functional relationship between water quality characteristics, multiple linear regression equations of the size and fractal dimension of particles on explanatory variables such as pH, BOD, TSS, DO, T-N and T-P have been established.

Abstract The management in TQM implies that it‘s a management approach, not just a narrow quality control or quality assurance function. Some principles and practices of TQM may differ among firms and industries, but there is unanimous agreement as to the importance of organizational culture in implementing TQM. Accordingly the objective of the paper is to empirically investigate the relationship between organizational culture and the implementation of TQM. This study limited to public companies in Algeria. The sample of study consisted (107) executives and managers who are working under functional heads. We used convenience sampling in selecting the subjects. The instrument used in the study was a survey questionnaire. The Correlation analysis explained a positive moderate relationship between organizational culture and implementation of TQM (r=0.580, p=0.000) that is culture of a (Algerian public companies) is positively related to the implementation of TQM. The study recommended increasing the interest in improving the availability levels of the organizational culture dimensions in general; and place a particular focus on the relatively low level dimensions, and the necessity to take into account realizing coherence among these dimensions in terms of the closeness of the availability levels, and lessening the deviations among these dimensions as well as among the elements of the same one dimension, due to the integrative nature among them. The study further recommended assimilating the organizational culture concept as an administrative concept by the managerial executives in the Algerian public companies, being an important foundation, upon which the success or failure of applying the TQM depends.

Purpose Applying social capital and the social exchange theories to customer-to-customer (C2C) interactions, this study aims to propose that interaction quality perceptions affect the customer-to-service provider’s interaction quality perceptions in a prolonged, close-proximity service setting. Examining this exogenous dimension, the study also tests socio-emotional support perception’s mediating effect and customer proactiveness’ moderating effect. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts and modifies existing general services of C2C interaction dimensions to fit the health-care context. An in-person survey of 192 neurosurgery inpatients and their care-giving companions (both considered health-care customers) provides data to validate the dimensions and test the model. Structural equation modeling and moderated regression test the hypotheses. Findings Results show that affirmative C2C interactions positively affect the customer’s perceived socio-emotional support, whereas negative C2C interactions show no significant impact. Greater socio-emotional support acuity improves customers’ assurance and empathy quality perceptions about the provider’s service. Customer proactiveness moderates C2C interaction dimensions. Research limitations/implications This study extends the research of the C2C interaction to include their effect on service quality perceptions in a prolonged close-proximity service setting. Study results validate C2C interaction’s dimensions specific to an inpatient setting. Finally, this study extends the application of social capital theory and social exchange theory to C2C settings. Practical implications Findings emphasize the importance of managing C2C interactions during prolonged, close-proximity service delivery processes to improve customer perceptions of service quality. Results suggest that managers should monitor customer proactiveness to maximize positive C2C interactions’ positive effects while minimizing negative C2C interactions. Originality/value Prior service quality studies tend to focus on managing internal resources (staff, processes or physical environment); however, this study examines how the interactions among external resources create a halo effect and impact customers’ service quality perceptions. Results inform methods to improve their quality perceptions by better managing exogenous factors. The study also responds to calls for research on how C2C interactions affect functional service contexts (vs hedonic service contexts).

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the quality of life related to health for heart failure patients and to relate sociodemographic and clinical data. Method: It is an observational and transversal study, with quantitative approach, carried out in a heart failure ambulatory in the state of Pernambuco. Results: In the sample (n=101), there was prevalence of men older than 60 years old, married and professionally inactive. The quality of life related to health, based on the Minnesota Living With Heart Failure Questionnaire, was considered moderate (34.3±21.6), being significantly related to age (p=0.004), functional class (p<0.001), and patients with chagasic cardiopathy (p=0.02). Conclusion: The quality of life in the HF group of chagasic etiology was more compromised, specially in the emotional dimension. It is suggested that studies on the hypothesis that longer ambulatory follow-up improves quality of life and that having Chagas disease interferes negatively with the quality of life of heart failure patients.

In conclusion, in this study it has been found that there should be given place for objectives regarding cognitive skills, cognitive and affective comprehension dimensions in teaching principles and methods course; the subjects which are functional in practice and have common usage area should be included within content dimension. Besides, it has been identified that during the learning-teaching process the knowledge should be presented and explained, the quality of teaching service should be increased, pre-service teachers should be provided with authentic learning experiences, student centered approach should be used as a base; and it has been asserted that this process should be rearranged aiming at enhancing the practice dimension of it. Moreover, it has been seen that a measurement -evaluation process is needed which includes use of process-based alternative assessment tools and gives feedback to all assessment results.

Therefore, hospitals’ importance is due to both health-care services and the educational effect. Many hospitals do not meet international standards due to oldness and inattention to space users. Based on the studies on place attachment, dimension, and effects, the paper attempts to promote place attachment in clinical spaces through creative exploration. Qualities such as place identity, emotional attachment, place dependence, social bonding, spatial behavior, and functional attachment are the research analysis criteria. The research methods is practical and descriptive-analytic evaluating the problem’s invisible horizons through a critical, objective, and concrete viewpoint and makes creative strategies and models possible which are responsive to different environmental dimensions especially human dimension. To study the criteria for valuation and space creation, the users and what they admire, associate, understand, and use and for which they have “sense of belonging” were also considered. The research results reveal that designing a modern hospital based on the promotion of place attachment results in the quick recovery of the patients, hospital staff’s job satisfaction, medical education improvement and also solutions to the enhancement of the environment quality of the hospital.</p>

Aims This study evaluates the quality of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) reported in childhood fracture trials and recommends outcome measures to assess and report physical function, functional capacity, and quality of life using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) standards. Methods A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA)-compliant systematic review of OVID Medline, Embase, and Cochrane CENTRAL was performed to identify all PROMs reported in trials. A search of OVID Medline, Embase, and PsycINFO was performed to identify all PROMs with validation studies in childhood fractures. Development studies were identified through hand-searching. Data extraction was undertaken by two reviewers. Study quality and risk of bias was evaluated by COSMIN guidelines and recorded on standardized checklists. Results Searches yielded 13,672 studies, which were screened to identify 124 trials and two validation studies. Review of the 124 trials identified 16 reported PROMs, of which two had validation studies. The development papers were retrieved for all PROMs. The quality of the original development studies was adequate for Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Mobility and Upper Extremity and doubtful for the EuroQol Five Dimension Youth questionnaire (EQ-5D-Y). All other PROMs were found to have inadequate development studies. No content validity studies were identified. Reviewer-rated content validity was acceptable for six PROMs: Activity Scale for Kids (ASK), Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire, PROMIS Upper Extremity, PROMIS Mobility, EQ-5D-Y, and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL4.0). The Modified Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) questionnaire was shown to have indeterminate reliability and convergence validity in one study and PROMIS Upper Extremity had insufficient convergence validity in one study. Conclusion There is insufficient evidence to recommend strongly the use of any single PROM to assess and report physical function or quality of life following childhood fractures. There is a need to conduct validation studies for PROMs. In the absence of these studies, we cautiously recommend the use of the PROMIS or ASK-P for physical function and the PedsQL4.0 or EQ-5D-Y for quality of life. Purpose – The purpose of the paper is twofold. First, it investigates antecedents of online purchasing behaviour, taking into account the relationships between the constructs of service quality, perceived value and loyalty. Second, the study analyses up to what point men’s and women’s behaviours are similar. Design/methodology/approach – A survey was sent to the general public in Spain. Respondents were required to be consumers of online travel agencies. In total, 1,201 valid questionnaires were collected. No gender bias was detected in the sample. The data were analysed through Structural Equation Modelling to assess the proposed model. To determine non-invariant parameters across the two groups (men and women), a test for invariance was conducted. Findings – Both functional quality and hedonic quality are shown as antecedents for perceived value, and, in turn, perceived value impacts loyalty. The impact of loyalty on purchasing behaviour is significant, though weak. Gender differences are also examined and all parameters of the model are found to operate equivalently among men and women, indicating that both groups perform similarly. Practical implications – This paper highlights that the hedonic dimension of quality is important in adding value for customers. Accordingly, managers should reinforce this dimension and include it in their business strategy. Originality/value – Although the link between perceived quality and value-loyalty is well-established, there are still few studies that expand this link upstream or downstream. This paper analyses the next link in this chain.

A comprehensive tolerancing system is presented with its design principle, system architecture and key functions. The following functional modules, automatic generation of dimension chain, equivalent variational mechanism (EVM) modeling and visualized 3D tolerance analysis, are described in detail. Design intent is expressed by assembly tolerance specifications, which may be added to the model and used in computing predicted quality levels. A comprehensive method, based on equivalent replacement, has been developed for modeling variations in 3D mechanical assemblies. The models are constructed of common engineering elements: dimension chain, kinematic joints, assembly datums, dimensional and geometric feature tolerances, and assembly tolerance limits. The method is consistent with engineering design practice and is well suited for integration with commercial CAD systems. To make the tolerancing system robust and efficient, new functionalities are added to well-known CAD software and simulation environment. Tested by many samples, this system shows good robustness and practicability.

Purpose This report explored enriched notions and dimensions of quality massive open online courses (QMOOCs). The purpose of this paper is to visualize the quality measures adjacent to MOOCs and understanding distinctive outlooks to approaching them. It was also of interests to envisage how and in what routines those notions and dimensions interrelated. Design/methodology/approach Exploratory-design was employed to qualitatively establishing conceptual and operational frameworks first through reviewing processes and focus-group discussions. QMOOCs were reflected by four dimensions: scientifically provable, technically feasible, economically beneficial and socio-culturally adaptable. Besides, QMOOCs involved six notions (6P: presage, process, product, practicability, prospective and power) and affected knowledge, skills and professionalism (KSP). Quantitatively, QMOOCs, 6P and KSP were the moderating, independent and dependent variables, respectively. Associated data were accumulated through survey by distributing 600 questionnaires randomly to 708 Universitas Terbuka faculty members; 299 of them were completed. Findings Nine hypotheses were scrutinized utilizing structural-equation model and eight were validated by the analysis. It was statistically inferred that product was alluded as the prime notion to QMOOCs followed by process, practicability, presage and power; prospective was excluded. Professionalism, knowledge and skill were influenced by QMOOCs. Importance-performance analysis (IPA) and customer-satisfaction index were emulated (and applied) to quantify respondents opinion and relevance degree of those engaged notions and dimensions. IPA analysis revealed four prominent notions (corresponding, functional, well-defined and learner-focused) and one dimension (technically feasible). Originality/value Qualitative framework was imperfectly confirmed by the quantitative upshot. Further inquiry is crucial searching for plausible validation how this consequence was marginally distinctive in conjunction with authenticating QMOOCs.

The problem reviewed of building intelligent decision support systems for classification and prediction of the functional state of complex systems in the article. To predict the state of complex systems, hybrid decision modules with virtual flows are proposed, which reflect the hidden system connections between real and virtual data. The vector of informative features at the input of the hybrid decision module consists of two subsectors, the first of which corresponds to real flows, and the second - to virtual flows. Simulation modeling of classification processes using latent variables was performed, which allowed to evaluate the effect on the quality of classification of artificially introduced virtual flows. The structure of a neural network model with virtual recurrent-type streams is developed. The structure consists of N consecutively included neural network approximants. The outputs of the previous approximators are combined with the vector of in-formative attributes of the subsequent approximators, which allows forming virtual flows of different dimensions. A method is developed for the formation of non-linear models of virtual flows, characterized by the use of the GMDH-simulation method to obtain models of the influence of real flows on virtual flows, learned through nonlinear adalines. The method makes it possible to form a subvector of latent variables of unlimited dimension. Non-linear models of virtual flows are formed through a method based on the use of GMDH modeling. The method makes it possible to obtain neural network structures built on the basis of GMDH models and nonlinear adalines, which make it possible to form a subvector of latent variables of unlimited dimensionality.

To determine the effects of a structured protocol using commercial video games on balance, postural control, functionality, quality of life, and level of motivation in patients with subacute stroke. Methods. A randomized controlled trial was conducted. A control group (n = 25) received eight weeks of conventional rehabilitation consisting of five weekly sessions based on an approach for task-oriented motor training. The experimental group (n = 23) received conventional rehabilitation + video-game based therapy for eight weeks with commercial video games using the Xbox 360° video games console and the Kinect® device with the same total treatment time for both groups. The Modified Rankin Scale, Barthel Index, Tinetti scale, Functional Reach test, Get Up and Go test, Baropodometry, EuroQoL 5D (EQ-5D), satisfaction, adherence, and motivation were used as outcome measures. Results. In the between-group comparison, statistically significant differences were observed in the Modified Rankin scores (p<0.01), the Barthel Index (p=0.05), the Tinetti gait assessment (p=0.02), the Functional Reach test (p<0.01), the Get Up and Go test (p=0.05), the pain/discomfort dimension (p<0.01), and anxiety/depression dimension (p<0.01) of the EQ-5D and the VAS (visual analog scale) (p<0.01) on the perceived health status based on the EQ-5D questionnaire. Regarding the scale of motivation, self-esteem, and adherence, statistically significant differences were achieved in motivation (p<0.01), self-esteem (p<0.01), and adherence (p<0.01) variables. Conclusion. A protocol of semi-immersive video-game based therapy, combined with conventional therapy, may be effective for improving balance, functionality, quality of life, and motivation in patients with subacute stroke. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of social distancing on physical activity (PA) and Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) in active Spanish older adults according to their physical functionality. The study included 58 older adults aged 76.24 ± 6.00 years who were enrolled in a supervised physical exercise program before the COVID-19 outbreak. Anthropometric, physical function, physical activity and HRQoL were measured at baseline (October 2019). After the two-month lockdown due to the COVID-19, questionnaires were collected again during de-escalation (May 2020). Participants were divided into high- (n = 29) and low-functionality (n = 29) groups. Total PA, walking and cleaning significantly decreased (p < 0.001) whilst exercising or dancing increased (p < 0.001). General health, social and emotional role functioning dimensions and overall mental component scores worsened (p < 0.01–p < 0.05). Low-functionality participants had significantly lower physical functioning scores at baseline (p < 0.01) and lower bodily pain scores at de-escalation (p < 0.01). Emotional role functioning dimension and overall mental component significantly decreased only in low-functionality participants (p < 0.05). Although PA levels decreased significantly, older adults continued being active regardless of their functionality. While mental HRQoL in participants with higher physical functionality remained unchanged, participants with lower functional capacity had a higher risk of mental health concerns. Therefore, attention should focus on strategies to mitigate the negative effects of distancing measures on older people’s mental health, especially in those with lower functionality.

ObjectiveTo determine patient-reported health-related quality of life (HRQOL) after stroke thrombectomy in clinical practice and to identify predictors of better HRQOL by analyzing data of 504 consecutive patients treated in a large university stroke center.MethodsAll patients with stroke treated by thrombectomy (June 2015–October 2018) were prospectively enrolled in this observational study. At 90 days, functional outcome was assessed by the modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and patient-reported HRQOL was assessed by the EuroQol Group 5-Dimension (EQ-5D) self-report questionnaire, consisting of 5 health domains. The EQ-5D utility index (EQ-5D-I) score (−0.594 to 1.00, with higher values indicating better HRQOL) was calculated. Linear regression analysis was applied to identify predictors of better HRQOL (higher EQ-5D-I score).ResultsOf 504 patients (median age 76 years, 51.8% female), the mean EQ-5D-I score was 0.39 (SD 0.44). The proportion of stroke survivors who reported complaints in the different domains decreased from 66% in Usual Activities to 57% in Mobility, 50.4% in Self-Care, 41.7% in Pain/Discomfort, and 40.8% Anxiety/Depression. Lower age, lower prestroke mRS score, lower baseline NIH Stroke Scale score, higher Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score, concomitant thrombolysis therapy, and a successful recanalization were independent predictors of better HRQOL.ConclusionsPatient-reported HRQOL provides a more comprehensive assessment of stroke outcome than the mRS score. Health domains involving motor function most frequently showed complaints in HRQOL after stroke thrombectomy, while a large proportion of patients did not report any complaints across the different health domains. Predictors of better HRQOL closely match the predictors of better functional outcome measured by the mRS in other thrombectomy studies.

Brand extension is a topic that has been widely discussed by academics and practitioners in various studies. Unfortunately, there are only a few that address the role of product involvement, advertising appeals, and value dimensions in the extension acceptance as their main issue. Therefore, this study aims to mixed three controlling factors which are product involvement, advertising appeals, and brand value dimensions in determining how consumers respond to the parent brand and extended brand. This study was designed to test the possible interaction in a 2x2x2 full-factorial between advertising appeals (informational vs. emotional), brand extension perceived fit (high vs. low), and value dimension (symbolic vs. functional) for high involvement products. This study confirmed that there were significant differences in the main effects for both consumers' evaluation toward brand extension and the parent brand in the case of a symbolic brand and the high fit of extensions. Emotional appeals play important role in enhancing this degree because of the high level of its brand associations. As symbolic brand often referred as premium brand, the more positive the level of quality perception, the higher level of consumers' evaluation toward brand and brand loyalty will be. Thus, the more loyal consumer to the parent brand, the more positive evaluations of the extension will be.

The purposes of this present research were, in the first study, to determine whether age impacts a measure of postural control (the braking force in walking) and, in a second study, to determine whether exergame training in physically-simulated sport activity would show transfer, increasing the braking force in walking and also improving balance assessed by clinical measures, functional fitness, and health-related quality of life in older adults. For the second study, the authors developed an active video game training program (using the Wii system) with a pretest-training-posttest design comparing an experimental group (24 1-hr sessions of training) with a control group. Participants completed a battery comprising balance (braking force in short and normal step conditions), functional fitness (Senior Fitness Test), and health-related quality of life (SF-36). Results show that 12 weeks of video game-based exercise program training improved the braking force in the normal step condition, along with the functional fitness of lower limb strength, cardiovascular endurance, and motor agility, as measured by the Senior Fitness Test. Only the global mental dimension of the SF-36 was sensitive to exergame practice. Exergames appear to be an effective way to train postural control in older adults. Because of the multimodal nature of the activity, exergames provide an effective tool for remediation of age-related problems.

Target hematocrit/hemoglobin values in dialysis patients are still controversial. The Spanish Cooperative Renal Patients Quality of Life Study Group (including 34 hemodialysis units) conducted a prospective, 6-mo study of the effect on patient functional status and quality of life of using epoetin to achieve normal hematocrit in hemodialysis patients with anemia. The possible adverse effects of increased hematocrit, patient hospitalization, and epoetin requirements were also studied. The study included 156 patients (age range, 18 to 65 yr). Given the minimal experience in the safety of increasing hematocrit in dialysis patients to normal levels with epoetin, stable patients on hemodialysis who had received epoetin treatment for at least 3 mo and had a stable hemoglobin level of ≥9 g/dl were included in the study. Patients with antecedents of congestive cardiac failure, ischemic cardiopathy, diabetes mellitus, uncontrolled hypertension, cerebrovascular accident or seizures, malfunction of the vascular access or severe comorbidity (defined by a comorbidity index), and those over 65 yr of age were excluded from the study. Quality of life was measured with the Sickness Impact Profile (SIP) and Karnofsky scale. Patients completed questionnaires at home at onset and conclusion of the 6-mo study. Mean hematocrit increased from 30.9 to 38.4% and hemoglobin from 10.2 to 12.5 g/dl during the study. Health indicator scores improved significantly: mean Physical Dimension (SIP) from 5.38 to 4.1 (P < 0.005); mean Psychosocial Dimension from 9.2 to 7 (P < 0.001); mean global SIP from 8.9 to 7.25 (P < 0.001); mean Karnofsky scale score from 75.6 to 78.4 (P < 0.01). (SIP is scaled so that lower scores represent better functional status, and vice versa for the Karnofsky scale). Therefore, functional status and quality of life improved with increased hematocrit. No deaths occurred. Three patients (2%) were censored for hypertension and nine (5.7%) for thrombosis of the vascular access. The cumulative probability of thrombosis of the vascular access was 0.067. The average epoetin dose rose from 93 ± 62 U/kg per wk at onset to 141 ± 80 U/kg per wk at conclusion, a 51% increase. The number of patients hospitalized decreased and hospital lengths of stay were shorter during the study period than in the same patients in the 6-mo period preceding the study (P < 0.05). Nine patients (5.7%) had thrombosis of the vascular access. There were no changes in the prevalence of arterial hypertension, but three patients (2%) showed hypertension that was difficult to control. It is concluded that normalization of hematocrit in selected hemodialysis patients, i.e., nondiabetic patients without severe cardiovascular or cerebrovascular comorbidities, improves quality of life and decreases morbidity without significant adverse effects.

In discussions of imago Dei, we largely confine ourselves to functional and moral affinity to God, that is that we have been made in God’s image with the result that obedience to God amounts to imitating his moral character and behavior. However, we need to add the existential affinity of God’s being to our understanding of God’s image in us, specifically the fact that he is both singular (in essence) and plural (in person). To some degree, people share God’s singular–plural quality and that one–many affinity can give great insight into gospel ministry. Moreover, as with the moral dimension of imago Dei, this singular–plural dimension also was marred by sin so that we, as individuals and as whole cultures, tend to lean toward one extreme or the other, toward singularity (unhealthy individualism) or plurality (monolithic communalism). The gospel of grace addresses both. Therefore, as we prepare to do ministry, we should study our audience to discern the existential lean of its own incarnation of imago Dei, so that we can best speak the gospel to fit audience need.
