O texto em pauta tem como objectivo discutir a suposta afinidade - tantas vezes propalada - entre o “inato” na concepção leibniziana e o “a-priori” como o compreende Kant. A literatura a respeito, se não exatamente copiosa face a outros temas da Kant-Forschung, é ao menos antiga, remontando, com efeito, ao final do século XVIII, e, portanto, aos primeiros comentários sobre a filosofia recém-chegada (favoráveis ou contrários a ela), publicados em boa medida no Philosophisches Magazin do leibniziano J. A. Eberhard, mas também aos “dicionários” (C.C.E. Schmid; 1786) e “dicionários enciclopédicos” (G.S.A. Mellin; 1797-1804) que já então se propunham a de algum modo suavizar o acesso ao idealismo transcendental. Aquela suposta afinidade - “ainda hoje um clichê corrente” (M. Oberhausen; 1997) -, ela, aqui, será, então, principalmente enfocada por meio dessa literatura inaugural, base de muito equívoco a propósito do “a-priori” kantiano.

Abstract Structure collapse, on the other hand, is a very complicated phenomenon involving considerable nonlinearity and a variety of mechanical interactions. It should be thoroughly examined through experiments and numerical simulations to prevent the occurrence from occurring. When initial local failure of a small portion of the structure takes place it leads to the spread of that local damage to neighbor elements in the chain reaction manner. Finally, collapse takes place. This is known as Progressive collapse. This progressive collapse takes place when vertical load carrying members such as columns failed due to manmade or natural accidental loads. Therefore in this study progressive collapse analysis of a building is carried by removing columns. In the analysis different column removal cases are considered. As per GSA guidelines, Demand Capacity ratio(DCR) of beams are calculated. From this DCR value Evaluate the stability of the structure against progressive collapse. In the present study “T”shape building is considered which consists of 11 storey with bay sizes as 4 meter in the X and Y direction, height of every storey is 3 meters and height from the plinth to the floor is assumed 3.5 meters. The measurements of the beams are fixed throughout the storey, but column dimensions decrease as the floor rises, therefore the structure is considered to have geometrical irregularity. The loading is calculated in accordance with G.S.A guidelines. The design was created using the ETABS software and the I.S 456-2000 code. Different parameters such as Demand-capacity ratio, Dynamic factor, Interaction ratio, Axial Force, Bending moment are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):

This study aims to provide information on the engineering characteristics of laterite soil, which is frequently used as a building material in civil engineering projects. The significance of subsoil investigations has grown significantly in light of the recent trend of civil construction collapses. In non-industrial nations like Nigeria, minimal residual soil has long been a problem for civil infrastructure, including buildings, culverts, dams, and highways. Also, there has been a lot of global research into using lateritic soil for engineering reasons due to the rising costs of conventional stabilizing agents and the need to utilize industrial and agricultural waste in cost- effective ways for engineering applications. As implied by the research project's topic, this is accomplished through a comprehensive field inquiry and intensive laboratory testing (the effect of groundnut shell ash on lateritic soil properties). The index property test categorized the soil into the A-2-4 subgroup in accordance with the AASHTO standard. As a result, the substance is deemed unfit for use as a foundation or sub-base for paving roads. Tests on the soil's index and geotechnical characteristics after adding groundnut shell ash show significant changes in the parameters. The tests performed for this study adhered to BS 1377:1975 standards. An analysis of the data shows that GSA can be used as a binding agent in the absence of cement, even if it does not have the same binding strength as cement. 4% G.S.A. was also discovered to be the optimal content concentration. All tests and analyses are shown in chapters three and four.

One of the causes of low oil palm production is the presence of weeds, so weed control efforts are needed. One of the weed control methods is chemical weed control using herbicides. Methyl metsulfuron herbicide is one of the active ingredients of herbicides. The aim of this study was to obtain the optimal dose of methyl metsulfuron to control wire fern weed (Dicranopteris linearis) in immature oil palm plantations. The method used was a randomized block design (RAK) with 8 levels of treatment, namely A (methyl metsulfuron 15 g.b.a/ha), B (methyl metsulfuron 50 g.b.a/ha), C (methyl metsulfuron 85 g.b.a/ha), D (methyl metsulfuron 15). g.b.a/ha + adhesive), E (methyl metsulfuron 50 g.b.a/ha+ adhesive), F (methyl metsulfuron 85 g.b.a/ha+ adhesive), G (manual weeding), H (without control and herbicide). All treatments were replicated 3 times. Parameters observed were weed mortality, weed dry weight and phytotoxicity. Data analysis used linear model variance with a significance of 5%, if there was a significant difference, it was continued with the Ducan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) further test. The results showed that the mortality of Dicranopteris linearis weeds with the herbicide methyl metsulfuron 85 g.b.a/ha was significantly different from the treatment with methyl metsulfuron 15-50 g.b.a/ha. Weed dry weight with the herbicide methyl metsulfuron 15-85 g.b.a/ha and manual control was significantly different from that without control. Weed control with methyl metsulfuron herbicide does not cause phytotoxicity.

Through a Critical Race Theory (CRT) framework, this article explores the experiences of students who are most typically overlooked within the college access discourse—those individuals who are considered “non-high performing” and/or “non-college bound.” Employing data from a longitudinal qualitative study, counter-narratives are used to highlight how Raheem and Brianna, two non-high performing African American students, experience the high school-to-college transition process. Over the course of three years, they reveal a combination of personal challenges, institutional shortcomings, and other trials that influence how they finally come to navigate their experiences within school, as well as their decisions about and actions towards achieving their postsecondary goals. Their narratives, while unique in their own right, highlight many aspects and obstacles that are all too common amongst this population of students; however, they also highlight an often more forgotten story—that is, the complexities of how these students attempt to find ways in which to handle their circumstances and proceed towards their future.

RésuméDes essais d'épandage au sol de deltaméthrine poudre mouillable 2,5% (NRDC 161) ont été effectués en janvier et novembre 1981 dans le foyer à Trypanosomiase humaine de Bouaflé, Côte d'Ivoire. Ces essais visaient à évaluer l'effet de différentes doses de ce pyréthrinoïde de synthèse sur la densité apparente par piègeage de G. palpalis (s.l.), vecteur de la maladie du sommeil dans la zone concernée. Trois doses ont été testées: 60 g de matière active (g.m.a.) par hectare à la concentration de 0,08% en janvier; 20 et 12 g.m.a./ha en novembre, aux concentrations de 0,027 et 0,016% respectivement. Pour chaque dose donnée, les traitements ont été exécutés une suele fois et à l'aide d'atomiseurs portatifs, Solo Port 423 de 5 m de portée. Les effets immédiats, à court et à moyen terme de l'insecticide sont très satisfaisants qu'il s'agisse des doses de 60 et 20 g.m.a./ha ou de la plus faible dose de 12 g.m.a./ha: taux de réduction de la densité apparente (D.A.P.) du vecteur compris dans l'ensemble entre 90 et 98% durant les deux premiers mois après traitement, quelle que soit la dose. A long terme, des taux de réduction dépassant 95% ont été obtenus jusqu'à 4 mois après épandage même avec la plus faible dose de 12 g.m.a./ha. La plus forte dose de 60 g.m.a./ha ne semble apporter aucun gain appréciable ni dans les taux de mortalité du vecteur, ni dans la rémanence de l'insecticide dans la zone d'étude. Afin de diminuer le cout en insecticide d'une éventuelle campagne de lutte chimique antiglossine et de sauvegarder au mieux les ressources de l'environnement, il est donc recommandé que la deltaméthrine p.m. en épandage au sol et en traitement rémanent, soit utilisée à la dose de 12 g.m.a./ha.

هدف البحث إلى الكشف عن فاعلية برنامج تدريبي قائم على برنامج الاسكتش باد ((G.S.P في تنمية مهارات تدريس التعميمات الرياضية لدى الطالبات المعلمات في الجامعة الإسلامية بغزة، ولتحقيق هدف البحث استخدم الباحثون المنهج شبه التجريبي ذي المجموعة الواحدة، تكونت عينة البحث من (22) طالبة معلمة تخصص رياضيات المسجلات لمساق تدريب ميداني في كلية التربية تم اختيارهن بطريقة عشوائية، أعد الباحثون بطاقة ملاحظة مكونة من (36) فقرة موزعة على ثلاثة محاور (مهارات التخطيط، مهارات التنفيذ، مهارات التقويم) لتقييم أداء الطالبات لمهارات تدريس التعميمات الرياضية باستخدام برنامج الاسكتش باد (G.S.P)، أثبتت النتائج فاعلية البرنامج التدريبي المقترح القائم على برنامج الاسكتش باد (G.S.P) في تنمية مهارات تدريس التعميمات الرياضية لدى الطالبات المعلمات، وفي ضوء ما توصل إليه الباحثون من نتائج أوصوا بضرورة تدريب الطلبة المعلمين في كليات التربية على استخدام برنامج الاسكتش باد (G.S.P) في تدريس موضوعات الرياضيات وخاصة التعميمات الرياضية.

Abstract (sommario):

Com o objetivo de se avaliar os efeitos da persistência dos herbicidas imazaquin e imazethapyr na cultura do milho safrinha em sucessão à da soja, tratada com estes produtos, foi instalado um ensaio na Fazenda Escola da Universidade Estadual de Londrina, solo argiloso (75% de argila), na safra agrícola 1995/96. O delineamento experimental adotado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas em faixas. Os tratamentos principais foram constituídos pelos herbicidas: 1.Testemunha; 2.Imazaquin PPI -120 g.i.a./ha; 3.Imazaquin PPI - 240 g.i.a./ha; 4.Imazethapyr PRE - 80 g.i.a./ha e 5.Imazethapyr PRE - 160 g.i.a./ha. Os tratamentos secundários foram constituídos pelas épocas de semeadura do milho: 0 (zero), 30, 60, 90, 120 e 150 dias após a aplicação - DAA. As avaliações, tanto de fitotoxicidade visual como de biomassa seca das plantas e produtividade do milho, revelaram uma maior sensibilidade da cultura ao imazaquin do que ao imazethapyr, embora a quantidade (ppb) de imazethapyr encontrada nas análises cromatográficas das amostras de solo (HPLC) tenha sido maior que a de imazaquin. Nos primeiros plantios, o imazaquin causou dano praticamente total às plantas, enquanto o imazethapyr proporcionou uma injúria de 30-40% na dose normal(80 g.i.a./ha). Nos plantios após 120 DAA esses sintomas foram diminuindo gradativamente até desaparecerem. A curva de regressão dos dados de colheita revelou intervalos de 87 e 112 dias para imazethapyr e imazaquin, respectivamente, para que não mais houvesse diminuição na produtividade do milho semeado após a aplicação da dose normal destes produtos. Correlacionando-se os parâmetros avaliados, observou-se que, mesmo havendo fitotoxicidade no início do desenvolvimento das plantas de milho, essas se recuperaram, tendo produtividade normal após os referidos intervalos. Dos parâmetros avaliados no bioensaio com pepino (Cucumis sativus), a biomassa seca das plantas confirmou a maior sensibilidade do pepino em relação ao milho, sendo prejudicada pela ação residual dos herbicidas no solo até o intervalo mínimo de 127 e 135 DAA para imazethapyr - 80 g.i.a./ha e imazaquin - 120 g.i.a./ha, respectivamente.

Writing some years after the events he was describing, Michael Cusack, the first secretary of the Gaelic Athletic Association, suggested that in its early years the ‘Association swept the country like a prairie fire’. This is perhaps a little exaggerated, but its success was striking. Eighteen months after its foundation the G.A.A. was reckoned to have 50,000 individual members. Six months later there were around 400 affiliated clubs. The relative success of the G.A.A. is particularly apparent when its progress is compared with that of two of its rival organisations. The Irish Football Association was founded in 1880. Ten years later only 124 clubs had affiliated to it. By the same date the G.A.A., founded in 1884, had 875 member clubs.

Aplicações indiscriminadas e sucessivas podem ocasionar casos de intoxicação nos seres humanos por ingestão indireta de glyphosate devido ao fato dos grãos de soja transgênica apresentarem níveis de resíduos desse herbicida acima do permitido. Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar os níveis de resíduos de glyphosate e ácido aminometilfosfônico (AMPA) nos grãos de soja geneticamente modificada tolerante ao glyphosate. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados com 8 tratamentos e 4 repetições. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por glyphosate, aplicados uma única vez e isoladamente nas dosagens de 720 e 960 g.i.a ha-1, glyphosate a 720 e 960 g.i.a ha-1 em mistura, respectivamente, com chlorimuron-ethil a 10 g.i.a ha-1, aplicações sequênciais de glyphosate nas dosagens de 720/720; 960/720; 960/720/720 g.i.a ha-1 e testemunha capinada durante todo o ciclo da cultura. As amostras foram analisadas por cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência (CLAE). As características avaliadas foram os níveis de resíduos (mg kg-1) de glyphosate e do seu metabólito AMPA. O nível máximo de resíduo de glyphosate encontrado nos grãos de soja foi de 0,92 mg kg-1, estando abaixo do permitido que é de 10,00 mg kg-1. Também foram encontrados resíduos de AMPA, máximo de 1,53 mg kg-1, indicando que houve metabolização do glyphosate.

Abstract (sommario):

The very low rate of complications obtained with mechanical sutures in urinary diversions after cystectomy incited the Authors to use the mechanical stapling devices on the upper urinary tract. One case of surgical correction of meaureter with ureterocele has performed using GIA and ENDO-GIA stapling devices. Surgical time is shorter because with GIA stapling devices the ureter is cutted and sutured at the same time. The mechanical suture is tigh but at the same time preserves intact the blood supply to the ureteral wall. The ENDO-GIA devices are very maneageable, far from the body and allow to operate through a small incision of the wound. The follow-up I.V.P. performed 6 months later, shows the absence of urinary stones and a thin, peristaltic ureter with absence of hydronephrosis.

Para orientalis –termasuk G.H.A. Juynboll- memiliki pandangan berbeda dengan ulama muslim mengenai asal-usul dan otentisitas hadis. Ulama muslim berpendapat bahwa hadis yang terdapat dalam kitab kanonik merupakan otentik dari Nabi, terlebih jika berstatus mutawattir. Sedangkan Juynboll berpendapat bahwa tidak semua hadis dalam kitab kanonik merupakan otentik dari Nabi, dan ke-mutawattir-an sebuah hadis tidak menjamin bahwa hadis tersebut benar-benar berasal dari Nabi. Penelitian ini menguji hadis “Keutamaan Menyampaikan Sabda Nabi” yang dinilai mutawattir dan otentik dari Nabi oleh mayoritas ulama muslim sertamerupakan salah satu sumber legitimasi umat Islam bahwa penyebaran hadis sudah digalakkan sejak masa Nabi. Kegelisahan penulis adalah, apakah hadis ini akan bernilai sama jika diteliti menggunakan teori common link G.H.A. Juynboll atau tidak. Dari hasil penelitian, penulis menemukan common link tertua (the real common link) dari hadis “Keutamaan Menyampaikan Sabda Nabi” yaitu ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud (w. 79 H), seorang tabi’in senior yang berasal dari Kufah. Dengan demikian, penelitian hadis “Keutamaan Menyampaikan Sabda Nabi” menggunakan teori common link menghasilkan kesimpulan berbeda dengan pendapat ulama muslim dari segi otentisitasnya. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga ditujukan untuk memberi gambaran langkah-langkah aplikasi teori common link G.H.A. Juynboll terhadap sebuah hadis.

Moniliophthora roreri causa la moniliasis (MC), la enfermedad fúngica más destructiva del fruto del cacao en América, con pérdidas hasta del 100 %. En México, el empleo del control químico de la MC es escaso, debido principalmente a la falta de productos seleccionados por su efectividad sobre M. roreri. El objetivo fue evaluar la eficacia de fungicidas sistémicos y protectantes sobre M. roreri. In vitro, se evaluaron cinco fungicidas sistémicos y siete protectantes. In vivo, se evaluó una aplicación de los fungicidas sistémicos tebuconazol, propiconazol, azoxystrobin y trifloxystrobin a 0.4 y 0.8 g.i.a./L, sobre frutos juveniles de dos meses de edad; complementada con tres aplicaciones de hidróxido de cobre a 7.5 g.i.a./L. In vitro, M. roreri fue sensible a los fungicidas sistémicos azoxystrobin, trifloxystrobin, tebuconazole y propiconazole. También fue sensible a los fungicidas protectantes: sulfato de cobre, hidróxido de cobre, óxido cuproso, oxicloruro de cobre y polisulfuro de calcio. In vivo, una aplicación de azoxystrobin, trifloxystrobin, tebuconazol o propiconazol (0.8 g.i.a./L), complementada con hidróxido de cobre, disminuyó significativamente la incidencia de la MC. La sensibilidad in vitro de M. roreri, al sulfato de cobre, oxido cuproso y oxicloruro de cobre, abre la posibilidad de probarlos en campo en futuras investigaciones.

O controle do capim-amargoso (Digitaria insularis (L.) Fedde) é um desafio na cultura da soja, e os herbicidas pré-emergentes surgem como opção de manejo. O objetivo desse trabalho foi avaliar o controle do capim-amargoso através de herbicidas pré-emergentes posicionados em diferentes regimes hídricos e quantidades de palha. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação com delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial 6 x 3, no primeiro fator alocou-se os regimes hídricos e no segundo os herbicidas pré-emergentes (diclosulam (29,4 g.i.a ha-1); flumioxazin + imazethapyr (50 + 106 g.i.a ha-1) e diuron + sulfentrazone (420 + 210 g.i.a ha-1)) esses fatores foram isolados para as quantidades de palha de milho + Brachiaria ruziziensis (0 e 3 t ha-1). Na aplicação diretamente no solo e sobre palha, o diclosulam apresentou as menores porcentagens de controle em todos os regimes hídricos com primeira chuva de 5 mm e segunda de 20mm. Já diuron + sulfentrazone e flumioxazin + imazethapyr não apresentaram diferenças significativas nos regimes hídricos controlando adequadamente o capim-amargoso. A eficácia do diclosulam sofreu influência dos intervalos de seca após a aplicação, diuron + sulfentrazone e flumioxazin + imazethapyr apresentaram um controle eficiente do capim-amargoso em todos os tratamentos.

Total study was concerned with the Iraqi garlic extract which should concentration of both Allicin 23.94 ppm and Alliin 17.9 ppm respectively. The highest concentration of Arginine from sixteen amino acid and is the highest concentration of vitamin (Niacin) B3 in garlic extract. The effect of some Biochemical variables for patients atherosclerosis was studied at the age between (45-65) years old using the 3 capsules a day to give a concentration 250mg/ capsule for a period of two weeks each at the level of total cholesterol, HDLc, and MDA and the effectiveness of the enzyme G.S.T. The results indicate a low level of total cholesterol, MDA and the level of effectiveness of the enzyme G.S.T. a rise in the level of HDLc.

To investigate the effect of machine gauge on properties of weft knitted fabric, three V – bed knitting machines of different gauges were selected for fabric sample production. They were of gauge 7, 12, and 14. With these three machines, three 1 × 1 rib fabric samples were produced by using 20 / 2 (Ne) yarn. Keeping the same machine settings, 1 × 1 rib fabric samples were produced by using 32 / 2 (Ne) and 40 / 2 (Ne) yarns. The dimensional properties like course / cm, wales / cm, stitch density per square cm, and G.S.M. were measured from the samples. They were tabulated and presented by graphs to observe the effects. To analyze the effects, the stitch length of each fabric’s samples was measured. It was found that the stitch length increases as the machine gauge decreases and vice-versa. As a result, all other properties like; course / cm, wales / cm, stitch density and G.S.M. also changes. It was concluded that the machine gauge affects the knit fabric properties and it has a specific trend.

Almost all Muslims agree that an authentic prophetic tradition (hadîth) is that which comes directly from the Prophet. A tradition such as this—like the Qur’ân—is reliable in terms of its chain of narration and message. Hence, it brings legal and moral implication for the Muslims to apply in their daily life. In the science of prophetic tradition, such tradition is called <em>darûrî</em>, literally means compulsory in the sense that it necessitates Muslims to comply. Different sort of view however, is being introduced by an orientalist named G.H.A. Juynboll. He comes up with an entirely different view concerning an authentic prophetic tradition both in terms of its category and definition. He reckons that there is no such thing as an authentic prophetic tradition. Every prophetic tradition is vague, and falls therefore under the category of being inauthentic. This paper is interested in dealing critically with this controversial view by giving particular attention to four main issues; the issue of definition, criteria, the number of narrators, and the rationale of a prophetic tradition to be deemed authentic.

The dialog that has been conducted for a few years between a group of Christian social thinkers and economists on moral aspects of economic activity has led to the creation of a new science discipline called economic personalism. On the one hand it stipulates the need to express economic processes within ethical categories, on the other hand it perceives the necessity to elaborate a strong economic theory. Economic personalists refer to the works of those thinkers who returned to the basic economic inspiration as a field belonging predominantly to moral philosophy. This school is sometimes called the Austrian School or the School of Classical Liberalism. A significant role in the economic personalism development was performed by its forerunners who noticed what was lacking in the previous interpretations of Catholic social thought. Among the there are John Paul II, Michael Novak, Rocco Buttiglione and the Acton Institute. The intellectual sources of economic personalism are mainly related to concept of personalism developed in Poland. Its specific thesis, seen in the maxim that “each person ought to be affirmed for the sake of it itself” also relates to the economic life. Economic personalists formulate principles that are spokesmen in order to promote a free society built on virtues. They are expressed in the following way: pre-eminence of a human being: economy and human dignity; human capital: creation and creativity; dignity of human work: calling for enterprise, integral development of human being, manufacture and personalism, participation, economic common wealth, helpfulness, market restrictions; preferential option for the poor: solidarity and social equity.

Sejak tahun 1965 sampai 2010 sebelum ia meninggalkan dunia, ia sangat serius dengan segala upaya dan usahanya untuk mengabdikan dirinya untuk mengkaji kesejarahan hadist, mempersembahkan beberapa pemikiran dan perhatian, dalam melakukan penelitian hadist dengan segala persoalan baik klasik maupun kontemporer. Dalam teori Common Linknya penolakan Juynboll pada model atau system gaya periwayatan hadist yang mana Ulama’ Hadist telaha menjelaskannya, tetapi penolakanya juga pada kebenaran hadist-hadist yang dianggap asalanya dari Nabi Saw. Atas dasar teori tersebut, Junyboll kemudian memberikan penilaian tersendiri terhadap beberapa hadist, misalnya kebanyakan hadist bersifat palsu, tidak dapat dibuktikan secara real dalam periwayatanya, definisi hadist yang sangat umum dan longgar sehingga sering dibuat persoalan bahkan salah, menggunakan corak yang tidak paten dan runtutanya tidak disusun secara jelas.

The quality of results obtained by Statistics students of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba in their first semester 100 level examination has been called into question owing to their poor performances in some courses they offered. Considering the pivotal role of students’ early academic achievement in determining the overall success of their university education, university educators must gain insight into how various courses influence students’ main indicator of academic success which is the grade point average (GPA). This empirical study examined how the various courses offered by 100-level students of statistics in the aforementioned university influence students’ academic performance at the end of the first year using the Binary logistic regression model. The study comprises nine eight (98) students. Negrerke R2 test shows that 84.2% variation in the log odd ratio was explained by the fitted model. Also, 63.7% explained variation from Cox and Snell R test, the Hosmer and Lemeshow test and the classification results further confirmed the model is robust enough for such a study. Five courses namely MAT 101, PHY 101, STA 111, CHM 101 and BIO 101 were identified to have significantly influenced students’ early academic achievement. One of the recommendations made is that an extra learning period for each of these courses should be added to the school lecture timetable to enable students to grasp the understanding of basic concepts of these courses

AbstractThe study of hadith among Western scholars has developed quite significantly, especially after the appearance of Ignaz Goldziher with his work entitled Muhammedanische Studien. This development ultimately mapped the study of hadith in the West to become one-way. Western scholars have different thoughts from one another. Herbert Berg divides into three groups of Western scholars who study hadith based on their attitudes and thoughts, namely scepticism, sanguine, and middle ground. However, some experts in hadith studies only divide it into two groups, namely skeptics and non-skeptics. So, thus, there are differences of opinion regarding the position of some orientalists. For example, Juynboll was positioned by Herbert Berg in the middle ground group while other experts positioned him in the skeptical orientalist group. In order to explore this problem, the writer examines Juynboll's thoughts on the Prophet's hadith, especially in relation to the theory that is always embedded with his name, namely the common link theory. The author finds that Juynboll is not as skeptical as to his predecessors, who generalized the Prophet's hadith as questionable its authenticity. Juynboll still idealizes the existence of a hadith that can truly be accounted for its authenticity coming from the Prophet even though it is very small. That was why he was included by Herbert Berg in the middle ground group. AbstrakKajian hadis di kalangan para sarjana Barat mengalami perkembangan yang cukup signifikan terutama setelah munculnya Ignaz Goldziher dengan karyanya berjudul Muhammedanische Studien. Perkembangan tersebut pada akhirnya memetakan kajian hadis di Barat menjadi tidak satu arah. Para sarjana Barat memiliki pemikiran yang berbeda antara satu dengan lainnya. Herbert Berg membagi kepada tiga kelompok sarjana Barat yang mengkaji hadis berdasarkan sikap dan pemikirannya yaitu scepticism, sanguine, dan middle ground. Akan tetapi, sementara pakar kajian hadis hanya membagi kepada dua kelompok yaitu skeptis dan non-skeptis. Sehingga, dengan demikian, terdapat perbedaan pendapat mengenai posisi sebagian orientalis. Misalnya, Juynboll diposisikan oleh Herbert Berg dalam kelompok middle ground sementara pakar lain memosisikannya pada kelompok orientalis skeptis. Untuk mendalami permasalahan tersebut penulis menelaah kembali pemikiran Juynboll terhadap hadis Nabi terutama terkait dengan teori yang selalu disematkan dengan namanya yaitu teori common link. Penulis menemukan bahwa Juynboll tidak se-skeptis pendahulunya yang menggeneralisasi hadis Nabi sebagai sesuatu yang diragukan autentisitasnya. Juynboll masih mengidealkan adanya hadis yang benar-benar dapat dipertanggungjawabkan keotentikannya berasal dari Nabi meskipun itu sedikit sekali. Itulah mengapa dia dimasukkan oleh Herbert Berg ke dalam kelompok middle ground. Kata Kunci:Common link, hadis, Juynboll.

The constructional properties of a weft knitted fabric depends on stitch length and yarn count. In this paper it is searched that whether yarn ply affects the properties of weft knitted fabric though knitted from yarns of same resultant count. For this fabric samples were knitted with pairs of single ply and double ply yarns with the same resultant count. Then the constructional properties like course / cm, wales / cm, stitch density, G.S.M. and spirality were measured. 10 data for each property from each sample were taken and averaged. From the averaged data graphs were constructed to make the comparison. From the graphs it is found that the properties (i.e. is course / cm, wales / cm, stitch density, G.S.M) is less in all of the sample knitted from double ply yarns than the fabric samples knitted from single ply yarns. Moreover though the fabric samples were made by the same settings of knitting machine but the stitch length is more in fabric samples knitted by double ply yarns. As the component yarns lose twist during doubling and twisting they become bulkier. For this stitches occupied more spaces in fabric made from double ply yarn. This lead to make the difference in constructional properties between fabric samples made from single ply yarns and double ply yarns of same resultant count.

In 1967 a county Cork farmer wrote to the Sunday Independent (Dublin) to express his hope that the Gaelic Athletic Association (G.A.A.) would ban women from attending the upcoming All-Ireland finals. The G.A.A is a male-only organisation, he argued, and the presence of women at Croke Park would take up ‘valuable space’. His letter generated many outraged responses from both men and women, all arguing against his opinion and illustrating that women played a vital role within the sporting community—whether as supporters, sandwich-makers or jersey-washers. The responses highlighted how people in Ireland were reconsidering the role of women in the public sphere more generally in the late 1960s. The emergence of ladies’ Gaelic football as a ‘serious’ sport for women in the 1970s is reflective of this changing society. Current Irish sports historiography is considerably lacking in its examination of the space women occupied in modern sport in Ireland. This piece will draw on newspapers and archival material to examine the emergence of what came to be known as ladies’ Gaelic football in the late 1960s and early 1970s and to analyse the debates about the changing position of women in sport and society at this time. In so doing, this piece will aim to bring the historiography of women in Irish society in conversation with the growing historiography on sport in Ireland.

O trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar as características fisiológicas, bioquímicas e sanitárias das sementes de soja colhidas após dessecação com quatro dessecantes, em diferentes épocas, armazenadas por seis meses e tratadas com um fungicida. O experimento foi realizado no Laboratório de Sementes da UNESP - Campus de Ilha Solteira. As plantas de soja do cultivar IAC-15 foram dessecadas, no ano agrícola 1997/98, com: paraquat, diquat, mistura paraquat + diquat e glufosinato de amônio, nas dosagens de 400, 300, 200+150 e 400 g.i.a./ha aplicados a partir do estádio R6 até R7, com intervalos de 5 dias. As sementes foram colhidas e acondicionadas em câmara seca, com umidade relativa em torno de 40% e temperatura entre 17 e 20ºC, por um período de seis meses. As análises foram realizadas com sementes tratadas com o fungicida thiabendazole (20 g.i.a./100 kg de sementes) e sementes não tratadas. Após análise e interpretação dos resultados obtidos, pode-se concluir que as sementes não apresentaram qualidades fisiológicas suficientes para comercialização. O tratamento com o dessecante glufosinato de amônio apresentou significativamente, menores valores de germinação. O teor de proteína não foi afetado pela dessecação, entretanto, para o extrato etéreo houve redução deste componente nas sementes dessecadas. O produto paraquat aplicado nas primeiras épocas resultou maior incidência de Fusarium spp., enquanto que, para o Phomopsis spp., menor incidência independente das épocas de aplicações.

O tratamento de sementes com fungicida é um seguro de baixo custo para os produtores de sementes e plantadores de amendoim. O uso de fungicidas adequados pode contribuir para o melhor desempenho do material de propagação, proporcionando maiores rendimentos na colheita. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo avaliar a eficiência do fungicida carboxin + thiram e a viabilidade do uso de óleo vegetal e de surfactante à base de organosilicone como agentes veiculadores do fungicida, no controle de fungos associados às sementes de amendoim. Foram comparadas duas doses de carboxin + thiram (50 + 50 e 70 + 70 g.i.a./100 kg de sementes) em mistura com água e a dose de 50 + 50 g.i.a./100 kg de sementes em mistura com os agentes veiculadores, avaliando-se os efeitos na germinação e vigor das sementes e estabelecimento da cultura no campo. Verificou-se que o principal efeito benéfico dos tratamentos é a redução significativa de sementes mortas e/ou da ocorrência de "damping-off" de pré-emergência. Independentemente da dose, o fungicida associado à água, proporciona controle eficiente dos patógenos presentes nas sementes, exceto no caso de Rhizopus sp. O óleo vegetal e o surfactante proporcionam melhor cobertura e aderência do fungicida às sementes, aumentando a eficiência do mesmo no controle de Aspergillus spp. e de Penicillium sp. Não se constata efeito fitotóxico do fungicida e dos agentes veiculadores sobre as sementes de amendoim.

In literacy, writing becomes an essential component. It becomes the most difficult skill to be learnt because students need to express their ideas and write them accurately. Interesting learning in writing process is expected by them in term of developing their writing skill. This Classroom Action Research shows the students’ ability in exploring their writing skill in the real-world situation by using G.R.A.S.P.S. (Goals, Rules, Audience, Situation, Product/performance, Standards) strategy. This study was carried out in a private school in Surakarta. One class from social program was taken for the sampling. There were 35 students who contributed to the study. Observation, questionnaire, recording, writing assessment reports were used. Findings show that: (1) G.R.A.S.P.S strategy can motivate the students in expressing their ideas; (2) The interesting teaching-learning process in the classroom makes students feel enjoyed because of their roles in real-life situations. It can low pressure in writing; (3) The students also showed their self-confidence. This research is limited to G.R.A.S.P.S. strategy to foster the students in writing persuasive essay.

Ventricular catheter replacement can be challenging, especially in patients with small ventricles. Shunt malfunction due to ventricular catheter obstruction can occur without ventricular enlargement, such as in the setting of slit-ventricle syndrome or benign intracranial hypertension. The authors describe a simple technique for ventricular catheter exchange using a peel-away catheter. In the limited initial experience of the senior author (G.S.C.), this technique appears to be safe and effective. To the authors' knowledge, this method has not been described in the neurosurgical literature before.

Combining ability was studied in a 6 x 6 diallel set in blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) for seed yield and its seven components. The g.c.a. effects of the parents showed that T9 was a good general combiner for number of pods per plant and seed yield. The crosses Du 1 x ADT 3 and NPRB 2 x KB 70 gave positive significant s.c.a. effects for number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant and seed yield per plant. These were identified as promising crosses.

G.H.A Juynboll is an orientalist figure of skepticism who is popular as the developer of the common link theory initiated by Joseph Schacht. Juynboll claims that the validity of his theory can replace conventional hadith study methods which he deems irrelevant to be used to research the authenticity of hadith. Various responses have come from other hadith scholars questioning the validity and performance of the theory in determining the authenticity of hadith. The common link itself is the oldest narrator term in the isnad file which is considered the most responsible for passing on hadith to more than one student. Azami as one of the scholars of hadith who strongly criticizes this theory says that Juynboll only has his imagination in developing thetheory common link. In response to this, Juynboll tries to provide his arguments to strengthen thetheory common link by explaining the working principle of the theory and its logical reasons, then he provides a comparison between the common link and the conventional method in studying hadith from its various aspects in order to conclude which theory which is more suitable for use in researching a hadith.

Sebagai teori perpanjangan tangan dari teori Schacht, Juynboll berhasil mengembangkan teori tersebut sehingga lahirlah berbagai model periwayatan dan istilah-istilah baru dalam teori common link. Hasil dari tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa teori common link Juynboll memberikan kontribusi besar dan brilian untuk menguji periwayatan hadis, hanya saja perlu dilakukan kajian lebih dalam tentang matan hadis, yang kurang dielaborasi dengan baik oleh Juynboll.

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas dua pemikiran tokoh orientalisme, yaitu G.H.A. Juynboll dan Joseph Schacht terkait kritik hadis. Metode penelitian yang dipakai bersifat kualitatif dengan studi pustaka dan analisis deskriptif. Pembahasan dalam penelitian meliputi biografi Juynboll, pemikiran orientalisme Juynboll, biografi Joseph Shacht, pemikiran orientalisme Joseph Schacht, dan pemikiran serta produk kritik hadis Juynboll dan Joseph Schacht. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa Pemikiran Juynboll dan Joseph Schacht selaras atas pandangan orientalismenya yang menilai hadis cencerung palsu karena dapat dibuat sebagai alat legitimasi tokoh agama dan menyandarkannya kepada nama dengan otoritas tinggi Nabi Muhammad SAW. Kemudian, Joseph membuat produk atas jawaban dari pemikirannya tersebut dengan menggunakan teori common link yang kemudian dikembangkan oleh Juynboll.

AbstractI examine here the use of the term madār in the Muslim hadīth literature in an effort to reassess G.H.A. Juynboll's claim that this term is equivalent to his common link. I argue that there are significant differences between the understanding and use of madār by both classical and contemporary Muslim scholars, on the one hand, and Juynboll's notion of the common link, on the other. After summarizing Juynboll's conclusions, I present and discuss some examples of the use of madār chosen from authoritative hadīth commentaries and rijāl books; discuss how Muslim scholars understood the term madār; and reevaluate Juynboll's ideas about the related terms, mutābi'āt and shawāhid.

AbstractIn 2007, the senior author (G.S.K.) published a commentary on the importance of incorporating minimally invasive aesthetic procedures into facial plastic surgery practices and training programs. The now decade-old prediction suggested that failing to perform minimally invasive aesthetic procedures placed facial plastic surgeons at risk of practice “phase out.” By not providing the most current options that patients' desire, we may lose patients to outside providers willing to perform those procedures. The aim of this article is to provide an update on this perspective by putting forth the results of the most up-to-date data on practice patterns with regard to minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.
