Frågan om kvotering för kvinnor till börsbolagens styrelser har under 2000-talet tagits upp både i media och inom politiken beroende på att kvinnor är underrepresenterade i dessa sammanhang. Uppsatsens huvudsakliga syfte är att granska de kvinnliga styrelseproffsens berättelser om vilka förebilder de har, vilka egenskaper som de har utvecklat, andras uppfattningar samt deras bild av sig själva. I uppsatsen undersöks även hur de upplever sin plats som kvinna i ett mansdominerat område för att klarlägga hur kvinnors identiteter skapas och utvecklas genom arbetet i börsnoterade företag. Genom en kvalitativ studie i form av personliga intervjuer har vi tagit fram empiriskt material som ligger till grund för vårt resultat. Informationen vi erhöll genom intervjuerna har analyserats med hjälp av relevanta teorier och vi har ett socialkonstruktivistiskt synsätt genom hela uppsatsen. De teorier vi främst valt att analysera material med är; Symbolisk interaktionism, identitetsteorier, glastaket och könsstrategier. Vår undersökning visar att det är olika faktorer som spelar in i hur dessa kvinnor skapar sina identiteter. De förebilder som kvinnorna har påverkar dem i deras fortsatta sätt att vara och se på saker. Framförallt påverkar det bilden av hur de bör vara, idealjaget. Idealjaget handlar om att vara engagerad och ha självkännedom. Ett mönster som framkommit är att de kvinnliga styrelseproffsen ser sig själva som modiga, positiva och självgående. De är också av den uppfattningen att andra har denna bild av dem. Minoritetsposition påverkar dem i den bemärkelsen att de blir mer synliga och granskade. Testo completoEating disorders are a major societal issue. Treatment is costly and the risk of relapse high. It is important, on both an individual and societal level, to increase knowledge regarding why eating disorders are so difficult to treat. This qualitative study examines the relationship between eating disorders and the individual´s perception of her identity. The purpose of the study is improved understanding of that relationship, it´s impact on the recovery process, and how the individual´s perception of her identity is transformed throughout that process. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten women who have undergone successful recoveries. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was used to analyze the data and three main themes and six subthemes were identified. To interpret the results, theories in social cognition and symbolic interactionism were used. The result show that interaction with other individuals suffering from eating disorders has a strong impact on recovery and that the individual´s perception of her identity transforms during the process from having an eating disorder to being disease free. The conclusion is that a normal feeding behavior alone is not enough; recovery requires active remodeling of the identity. Social psychological studies of identity linked to eating disorders are of great importance for further research in the field and can also contribute to development of more effective treatments.

Testo completoEn generell uppfattning om mellanchefspositionen är att den är svår att hantera i och med de krav som ställs både från överordnade chefer och underordnade medarbetare. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen har därför varit att öka kunskap och förståelse för den situation en chef i mellanposition befinner sig i. Vi har valt att intervjua mellanchefer inom kommunal sektor för att ta del av hur de upplever sin roll, position och uppgift, relationer till medarbetare samt vilka situationer som upplevs som svåra och problematiska.
Vi ville ta del av mellanchefers subjektiva upplevelser och valde därför en kvalitativ metod i form av en intervjuundersökning. Resultatet visade att många av deras upplevelser var likartade men vissa mindre skillnader kunde vi på visa. Mellancheferna upplevde att de har en bekväm position, men att det ibland kan uppstå situationer då motstridiga förväntningar ställs från överordnade chefer och underställda chefer eller underställda medarbetare.

Testo completoThe purpose of this paper was to study how the terrorist, represented by Anders Behring Breivik and Rakhmat Akilov, was constructed in four Swedish newspapers after two terrorist attacks in Norway July 22, 2011, and in Sweden, April 7, 2017. The study takes on a social psychological and discourse analytic perspective, where the social identity theory with its ingroups and outgroups is central. The result shows that there were different discourses for the two offenders, where Breivik was portraied as an individual who is a purposeful cold-blooded loner, while Akilov was defined on the basis of his presumptive group affiliations as a passive and collective alien. Based on the results, Breivik can be placed in an ingroup and Akilov in an outgroup, which indicates a social climate where ”we” are set against ”them”, something that in turn can influence the individuals identity and values.

Testo completoABSTRACT Title: The auditor's identification with the client and the profession - How does it effect the choice of negotiating strategy? Level: Final assignment for Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Jannicke Berghold and Vanessa Do Pilar Lemos Supervisor: Jan Svanberg Date: 2016 – January Aim: The auditor´s choice of negotiating strategy in cases of disagreement with the client regarding the reporting objectives, has proven to have a significant impact on the final statements to be presented to the public. As stakeholders of these companies largely base their investment decisions on these reports, it is very important that the individual client doesn’t influence the auditor at negotiation. Social Identity Theory predicts that individuals identify with multiple amounts of social groups, which sometimes possess significantly different interests and values. Scientists believe that the individual is more or less prone to follow these groups depending on how strong this identification is. Furthermore, new research in the field suggest that individual decision-making above all depends on which of these identities that are salient in the individual's mind at the moment of decision. With this study we intend to examine how the auditor's identification with the client influences how she choses negotiating strategy, and whether the effect changes when professional identity is made salient. Method: This study was conducted by a collection of primary data through an experimental survey. Sample population comprised 3,600 authorized and certified auditors in Sweden. Response data has been collected using questionnaires program SUNET survey, then compiled and analyzed in SPSS Statistics. Result & Conclusions: The study showed that a strong clientidentification contributed to that the auditor was likely with the use of a negotiation strategy that is slimy to the client, when the identification towards the client was weak. Furthermore, we saw that when professional identity was made salient, so respondents were less inclined to use such strategies. Our results show that the strength of client identification affect the auditor's choice of negotiating strategy, additionally appears the effect of a prominent professional identity also influence the auditor's election 5 Suggestions for future research: Since the great shortfall in our study may have contributed to a misleading result, we suggest that future researchers conducting a study like this, would do so under more controlled conditions. This to ensure a higher response rate and to increase the possibility of generalized conclusions. One proposal, when the time aspect does not present a problem, would be to complete the questionnaire with an option that allows the researcher to get more in-depth insight into the respondents' answers. Contribution of the thesis: We hope that our study will make a valuable contribution to the negotiation literature. This by our adaptation of the new approach to the auditor's negotiation with the client by studying whether the choice of negotiating strategy differs depending on which of the auditor's multiple social identities that are most prominent in the moment of decision

Testo completoIntroduction Previous research identifies an evident auditor stereotype.Although auditors to some extent have attempted to change thestereotype, the stereotype as it appeared 40 years ago stillremains. Differences between the stereotype and the auditors’perceptions of themselves causes an expectation gap. The lackof research regarding how auditors perceive the stereotype aswell as how they treat it, motivates our study. Purpose The purpose is to examine how auditors perceive the stereotypeof auditors as well as how and why they are working to changethe surroundings perceptions of auditors. Method This qualitative study is based on twelve semi-structuredinterviews. All respondents are audit staff with differentpositions that work in one of the Big 4 accounting firms. Conclusions We conclude that auditors mainly perceive the stereotype ofauditors negative and not consistent with their own images ofthemselves. We have identified a new expectation gap –differences in expectations about the auditor’s traits. Auditorsare working actively to counter the stereotype as it entailsbenefits to them in their professional life. To some extent,auditors are also unconsciously acting in a way that suggeststhat the stereotype is reinforced or ignored.

Testo completoSecondary school economists´ perception of the auditor plays a major role in financial education at university level and in the audit firms. Secondary school economists´ can be future students and employees at colleges and audit firms. The purpose of the study is to examine how secondary school economists´ perceive the auditor as well as themselves based on characteristics associated with the traditional auditor stereotype. The study also examines, though to a lesser extent, whether there is a connection between the intention to become an auditor and if you have someone in your vicinity working as an auditor. Through a quantitative approach, the study´s three hypotheses based on profession theory, identity theory and the traditional auditor stereotype are examined. Characteristics of the traditional auditor stereotype identified by previous research have been used, among other things, as a basis for a questionnaire survey conducted at two secondary schools in Sweden. The main result of the study is that the secondary school economists´ perceive that the auditor has a high status, which indicates that the audit occupation is classified as a profession. The study´s result cannot demonstrate that secondary school economists´ consider themselves share characteristics with the traditional auditor stereotype. Finally, the study cannot demonstrate that secondary school economists who have someone in their vicinity who works as an auditor have the intention to become an auditor.

Testo completoThis study is based on six narrative interviews which I conducted with students at the University of Namibia in Windhoek, Namibia. My aim is to find out how these students are creating their identity in the environment of the university, how they look at their family structure and how Namibia´s independence in 1990 has created new opportunities for young people in contemporary Namibia. I have been using postcolonial theory and identity theories to analyse the interviews. Five of the six respondents are from the northern parts of Namibia, Ovamboland, and this area is seen as a rural area. The students have made an emotional journey from the rural areas in the north to the urban area of Windhoek and they feel that they have many new opportunities and they are willing to change Namibia into a more developed country.

Testo completoAim: The debate about the auditor independence has been going on for a long time. Today is the issue of auditor independence one of the most important in accounting which depends on several corporate scandals that have occurred in recent years. Previous studies shows that close relationships explicate social identifications which can have a positive and a negative impact on auditor independence. We have added personal identification in our study at the individual level to expand previous studies. We have also added the charismatic leadership as a factor to investigate whether this affect identifications. The study aims to investigate whether the client identification, personal and professional identification is affected by a charismatic leadership and whether these identifications has an impact on auditor independence. Method: In our study we have used surveys as a method to collect primary data. Data were collected from Swedish authorized and approved auditors. The collected data where then processed and analyzed by the statistical program SPSS statistics. The results of the statistical analyzes are then presented in different tables. Result and conclusions: The results of the study showed that charismatic leadership has an impact on all identifications, however, this effect is relatively weak, which means that there are many other factors that increase these identifications. Furthermore, the result also showed that personal identification can be a greater threat to auditor independence than client identification. Suggestions for future research: To obtain the respondents' own thoughts and opinions, a qualitative focused study with interviews as a data collection method could be implemented. Further implications could be to examine other factors that may affect different identifications. Contribution of the thesis: The study contributes for further research about the auditors' non-financial dependence, in which we examine the problem from a social identity perspective. Furthermore, the study can provide knowledge of the factors that affecting social identities.

Testo completoAuditor independence is an intensely debated issue, the topic never go out of time when the media are constantly rife with speculation about a conflict of interest between the company and the auditors. The purpose of this study was to create an understanding of how auditors and its clients reason about independent and dependency. To study this complex issue, we have completed eleven personal interviews, five interviews were with authorized or approved auditors and six interviews were with audit clients. In this study we analyzed how auditors and clients reasoning about auditor independence and what they consider important in their relationship to each other. The outcome of this study indicates that both auditors and clients think and work actively to maintain its reputation, videlicet their legitimacy. From the perspective of the auditors, they achieved legitimacy by ensuring theirs independence by staying objective. This means that they can function as a control for the client's financial statements. From the perspective of the clients, it is important that the auditor acts as an independent third party, it gives the company's financial reports, a "quality label". The study is relevant as a contribution to an understanding what´s important in the relationship between auditor and client.

Testo completoAs the brutality and violent means of the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has become evident a general concern and public discussion has emerged about what makes young Muslims from the Western world to join such devious organizations. In light of this I wanted to examine the thoughts and assumptions that constructs the feelings of identity and belonging of young Muslims in the city of Malmo. This study thus aims to create a wider understanding of how the phenomenon of radicalization can be related to identities of Muslim youth and how the processes of forming identity can compose a risk for the individual to find pathways to radicalization. To accomplish this explorative semi-structured interviews with young Muslims in Malmo was conducted. My intention with this study has not been to assume that all Muslim youth is, or has the potential to become radicalized. My intention rather has been to explore how identity and belonging can tell something about routes (pathways) to radicalization regardless of religious affiliation. To analyze the stories of the young Muslims who participated in this study concepts and frameworks from Social Identity Theory has been applied. This study shows that among the young Muslims participating in this study there is a stable basis for a bi-cultural identification with both a Swedish and a Muslim context. It is though possible to trace some ambivalence in the bi-cultural identity of these individuals as their experience as being Muslims e.g. their religious identity are not always compatible or fully accepted in all contexts. Additionally the participants also perceive that Muslims as a group is being publicly singled out and criticized by media. The stories also reveals a perceived internal conflict among Muslim communities as terrorism conducted in the name of Islam compels members of the Muslim group to both internally and externally mark position concerning religiously motived violence and terrorism. This conflict joint with the experience of exclusion among Swedish Muslim can potentially become the reason for some young Muslims to turn into the wide range of Muslim communities in search for acceptance and affirmation. In this process some individuals will find radical and extremist movements. The isolation these movements/groups experience from outside impressions then enables extremism to flourish inside the group. When members of such a group strives to improve individual status the behavior and actions of the group can escalate which in turn can result in violence and terrorism. Thus to avoid this pathway to radicalization the solution lies in creating conditions that allows for young Muslims to feel belonging and inclusion in their bi-cultural identities as being both Swedish and Muslims.

Does the show give a depiction that according to active police officers is consistent with their experience of the profession. To accomplish the results of this study it has completed six qualitative and semi-structured interviews. The respondents are active police officers and they all have consumed the first six episodes of the show Tunna blå linjen. The study relates to the representations theory, the identity theory and a theory about police jargon and humor. The results of this bachelor thesis shows that the respondents believe that the tv series Tunna blå linjen represents their profession in a more convincing way than the police profession usually does in other tv drama series. But however, they did react to the fact that the series did not show, for example all the paperwork they need to handle every day, and aggrandize some aspects of their profession, like the emotions of the characters. However, the interviewees are aware that these aspects have to be compromised for a drama series, and therefore they are indulgent.
