Testo completoThe thesis aims to investigate, with a descriptive approach, the role of the practices of welcoming, inclusion, help and care, expression and emancipation of migrant women in Italy, starting from a reflection on the dramatic dimension of female migration. The heart of the research is the investigation of performing arts and practices, and especially of social theatre, whose methodology is particularly effective in the social inclusion of migrant women, as it focuses more on processes than on products, more on actions than on representations, more on the community than on the audience, more on relationships than on mediations. The role of social theatre in the practices of inclusion for migrant women is investigated in particular in the context of the Metropolitan City of Milan, in the face of an accurate mapping of the most significant projects that use media, arts, performance and culture for the inclusion of migrants, carried out in connection with the University Research project Migrations|Mediations and with the PRIN project Performing the social. In particular, we get to highlight and discuss the critical issues of some social theatre experiences with migrant women which, for different reasons, could not have a full realization.

Testo completoThe thesis analyses the phenomenon of microcredit in Europe going deeply into the causes which have made the introduction of this financial instrument necessary even in completely different economies than those in which it originated and examining the transformation that the instrument has undergone during the process of its adaptation to the progressive countries. The study examines microcredit in France, England, Spain and Germany, pausing to analyse, in each state, the juridical discipline adopted, if existing, the present institutions of micro credit, the nature of the sector and the source of funds. The objective of the analysis is to understand how European countries, according to the economic, political and social context, live completely different models of microcredit at the same time. The thesis concerntrates on analyzing the microcredit in Italy, taking into account the existing relations between this financial instrument and the problems of social exclusion, of immigration and of usury. The study also examines the juridical practice of microcredit used in Italy after recent changes introduced by D.lgs n. 169/2012. The work pauses to analyse if and which interventions, at International and European levels, have been programmed to give microcredit a unitary legislative framework and to promote its development. The research is aimed towards the valuation of the effects produced by microcredit on the basis of experiences described in the literature of the subject, as well as examining some common problems in the programs used in the European States; the sustainability of the microcredit institutions, the dependence of subsidies and the application of high interest taxes. The thesis concludes with the analysis of the existing relations between microcredit and the financial crisis, in a historical period in which politics for occupation and the support of small businesses are fundamental to stimulate economic growth.

Testo completoThe past few decades have been marked by a significant increase in the percentage of immigrants detained in prisons in Europe, disproportionate incidence of foreigners in the concerned territory. In Italy the phenomenon of over- representation of immigrants in prisons has a vey important dimension , that has attracted the interest of the sociological and criminological literature , research-oriented interest of its causes. The present work aims to investigate not the causes, but the effects of the experience of imprisonment on immigrants’s lives. Specifically, we’ll examine two main lines of interpretation, both included inside the internal current of Marxism, and we’ll pay attention to the correlation between the labor market and the prison system . According to the literature, the prison is a main entrance to the Social Contract for the new working class , made up of immigrants now a days. In fact, inside the jail, they have the opportunity to benefit from certain forms of welfare , accessing services and opportunities (health care , education and literacy , regular employment and job training ) from them - especially if irregular - they generally are excluded in condition of freedom in Italy. A different approach has argued instead that the detention of immigrants performs a function merely neutralizing aimed at their definitive exclusion from the social context . Inquire to what " offers " the penitentiary to immigrants and migrant life stories collected from offenders in the Prison of Capanne ( PG ), this work aims to understand what function the prison plays today against immigrants , and especially if it represents today a first step in the process of inclusion of the new working class , which has become a place of neutralization , with the advent of post-Fordist production system, a place of storage of excess workers.

Testo completoThe dissertation is about community and social inclusion. The research is a the case study of a concrete experience of community education. The aim if the research work is to retrace the history of the “Il Cardo Social Cooperative” exploring the educational settings that characterized its educational work from 1988 to 2018. The purpose of the case study is to conduct an analysis on the steps that led the Cooperative, moving from services, to be an educational reference for its territory. Research, starting from a single experience, aims to reflect broadly on the social and cultural changes affecting contemporary society. The dissertation is divided into three main themes: the first consists in the theoretical study of the concept of community and social inclusion today; the second explores the theoretical aspects of possible research approaches, in this part a significant work is dedicated to the review of the literature on the "case study"; the last part is dedicated to research itself (data and analysis) and is the contextual and "material" part of this work.
Vendemia, Giovanna <1978>. "Servizi relazionali e inclusione sociale: due studi di caso sul coinvolgimento delle famiglie nel Comune di Parma". Doctoral thesis, Alma Mater Studiorum - Università di Bologna, 2013. http://amsdottorato.unibo.it/5266/1/VENDEMIA_GIOVANNA_TESI.pdf.
Testo completoThis research takes his first steps from the assumption that the relational paradigm can offer to the world of social services a differently configuration, sometimes less utopian, of the community work. In fact, while in recent years the services system is enriched with principles such as co-design and co-responsibility for action, community work is still far from work usually done in the local social services, unable for structural and cultural reasons to accommodate this function within itself. The idea from which originated the present doctoral thesis is to enrich the definition of relational services. Starting from the dimensions that in the sociological literature and in the main theoretical models of social work define a service as relational service, the first theoretical part assumed as in the regional context of Emilia-Romagna occurred a partial transformation of regional welfare, because in these years the cultural changes was not followed by an actual change of business models, based more on skills development. In the second part of the thesis, the empirical research focuses on the projects "family friendly" made in the town of Parma, which are placed in a logic of corporate welfare based on the support of subjects of the Third Sector, responsible primarily for each phase of implementation of the activities. The research relies mainly on qualitative techniques and in some sections assumes the characteristics of action research. In its conclusions, the territorial context reveals great wealth of structural links, but also the need for a strengthening of the internal bonds. The strength of the produced services lies on the above-functionality of the link between volunteers and families, and this should also enrich the social work that chooses to adopt a methodological perspective of relational work.

Testo completoIntegrating a gender perspective in projects and public policies implies that the actors involved in policy design and implementation deal with complex processes of re-thinking and re-organizing their actions, in a network dimension and through re-negotiations and tensions among discursive frames, with gendered structures of inequalities as the focus of reflections and possible common actions, in their being intersected with other differences and discriminations. In Europe gender mainstreaming achieved only partial results so far and particularly with regard to innovation policies. The research aims at shaping possible different meanings for gendered approaches to technological and social innovation policies and practices in urban contexts, in relation to Smart Cities and Communities’ models. In order to read with a gender perspective transformative and expansive learning processes within multistakeholder networks, qualitative indicators are defined and proposed, with regard to contents, processes and the training/educational dimensions.

Risultano molto meno presenti i riferimenti all'education intesa come formazione continua.

Testo completoThis research came from the issue of how to identify suitable strategies for the affirmation of a development culture sustainable for the environment and respectful of a person's dignity, strategies that are in contrast with neoliberal logic and instead are able to value differences and take charge of the problems people face during their lives. The central theme is work, an aspect that is decisive for the conditions of social belonging and the value of human resources. This research takes into account the studies about the reality we are immersed in, a reality characterized by the liberal thought dominant at a global scale in recent decades leading to a conception of social relationships based on an exasperated competitiveness and exclusion of anyone not in line with the laws of the market: the dramatic consequences of the liberal swindle; reducing people to consumers; the escape from the community and refuge in separate identities; the era of risk, fear and separation between ethics and business. In contrast, this research also takes into account studies from a research prospective that introduce an inclusive and humanizing development: the prospects of decline; social business; a Christian path towards a just economy; the promotion of the capacity of human resources. This research then examines the connections with the ongoing experiences in the territory of Bologna that promote opportunities for a community welfare through a collaboration between institutions, intermediary organizations and citizens: the introduction of social clauses in public contracts for the professional fulfilment of the disadvantaged; the promotion of corporate social responsibility for social-labour inclusion; the resource value of people living through a prison experience. Although these are limited experiences, they can constitute a cultural and operative reference point for a possible developmental model that can suit everyone and remain compatible with humanizing and environmental limits.

Testo completoSeveral studies demonstrate the serious impact of homotransphobic discrimination on LGBT+ people, in tertiary education, in sports and in workplace (D’Augelli, Pilkington, Hershberger, 2002; Almeida et al., 2009; Di Giacomo et al., 2018; Taylor et al., 2013). This thesis consists of three essays on topics in sexual minorities discrimination and inclusion policies, in three different environments. Chapter 1 introduce the three essays and describes their main results. The first essay analyses a non-agonistic popular sports environment. It’s aim is twofold: firstly, it analyses the determinants of homotransphobic perceived discrimination; secondly, it explores, within the analysis of homotransphobia factors, the relevance of Allport's Contact Theory. From the empirical analysis we found that, among the determinants of homotransphobic perceived discrimination, there are individuals’ homosexual and bisexual orientation and a high level of education. Moreover, this study’s results reveal that among the factors related to homotransphobic behaviours and attitudes there are heterosexual orientation and male biological sex. Related to Contact Theory, our outcomes show that contacts with LGBT people typically reduce the probability of being homotransphobic and that being involved in projects aimed to put in contact LGBT with non-LGBT people reduces prejudice and discriminant attitudes. The second essay explores homotransphobia and policies inclusion in tertiary education. This study provides the first european index of LGBT+ inclusion for Universities, created using fuzzy logic techniques (Zadeh, 1965, 1988), that has a twofold aim: allow tertiary education institutions to assess their degree of gender inclusiveness with a shortcut assessment of the dimensions in LGBT+ inclusion that needs to be improved for reaching the aim of LGBT+ inclusion in tertiary education; Implement the proposed system to Italian universities that have promptly taken part to the survey thus making us in the condition to be able to show their achievements. With the support of six LGBT+ or ally students’ union, of four experts and of the National Conference of Equality Organs, we were able to evaluate the efficacy of the different practices in place and taking into account other. The third essay examines sexual orientation (and others) discrimination in workplaces, analysing European Working Condition Survey Data collected in 2015. We examine the relationship between discrimination’s predictors, stress, job satisfaction and moderating variables such as socio-economic position and age, showing that employees intersectionally discriminated are found to have more stress and less job satisfaction compared to their counterpart. Finally we realize a Mediation Model to detect and expound the mechanism underlies the relationship between an inclusive organizational model (the indipendent variable) and the employees' job satisfaction or their level of stress (the dependent variables), via the inclusion of sexual orientation (and others) discrimination variable (mediating variable) with the aim of clarifing the nature of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. Each essay also explores LGBT+ inclusion best practices and suggests policy implications aimed to improve the inclusiveness of sports environments, workplaces and universities.

Testo completoUnder certain circumstances, vulnerable youngsters might experience social inclusion through sport. Since the understanding of such circumstances remains under-researched, the dissertation provides insights into this topic by showing the dialogic evaluation outcomes of an Italian sport-based programme. The results shows that: I. Promoting access to sport through subsidised sports fees, inclusive bureaucracy services and transport are fundamental preconditions to introducing youth to the sports; II. Introducing professionals who bridge the gap between local sports clubs and diverse agencies dealing with vulnerable youth is a fundamental condition that provides increased social resources to youngsters, especially in case of severe social vulnerability. III. Involving sports clubs in training aimed at enhancing their capacity to be inclusive is a meaningful condition to consider since “competition” and “inclusion” are perceived as opposite values that can hardly be integrated into sports coaches work. IV. The experience of inclusion through sport is connected to sport self-efficacy and the interest of youth toward certain sports. The work discusses the role of dialogic processes in the translation of scientific knowledge to practice and vice versa. Results provide action-oriented evidence for sport for development planning and management.

Testo completoThis research analyses the pedagogical conception of the policy model of restriction and deprivation of liberty implemented by the Association for the Protection and Assistance of Sentenced Persons (APAC), which calls itself educational, and whose purpose is to verify if it is a new model or a sophistication of the traditional one. In order to study this model, which intends to have reduced the recidivism from more than 40 thousand people to less than 20%, a bibliographical research has been conducted to deepen the knowledge of the traditional model of prison, focusing then on the specific situation in Brazil. Subsequently, the APAC model has been studied through the inspection of the texts describing it and the review of the research literature in Brazil and Italy. Finally, a participatory observation has been carried out thanks to an ethnographic method in two of the units of the model, using the field diary and the open and semi-structured interviews, conducted to analyse the practices. We have drawn a comparison between the practices and the discourses about the model and, finally, we have compared it with the traditional prison model. The potentialities of that space, which is other than prison and which supports the educational projects of people deprived of liberty, were analysed and highlighted, as well as the weaknesses resulting from underfunding. In this way, it was observed that another education is possible for the prisons, but also that there is still the risk that it will have limited effectiveness in facilitating the return to society, given the structural limitations due to the insufficient work opportunities offered to people who return to freedom.

Testo completoThe research is part of the most critical and radical interpretation of the theoretical framework of Social Justice Education and starts with an analysis of the literature on the phenomenon of school drop-out and on that of the popular and second-chance schools, considered by virtue of their characteristics a bulwark in the fight against youth discomfort, social marginalisation and educational risk. The empirical part is dedicated to qualitative research centred on an intervention to combat school drop-out in the field of popular and second-chance schools: a case study was carried out in the school year 2020/2021 on the “Antonia Vita” Popular School in Monza, a school that offers young people aged between 13 and 16 in conditions of disadvantage or educational risk an alternative educational and didactic pathway to that of the traditional school system. The main objective of the study is to analyse the pedagogical model of the Popular School, initiating a first reflection on the concept of “drop-out” and also on the pedagogical model of the education system as a whole. To this end, the case study envisaged two distinct but complementary phases: a first, purely cognitive phase, aimed at exploring the representations and perceptions of a plurality of subjects and stakeholders regarding certain dimensions of the school and of educational and didactic work, resorting to the research and analytical methodology of the constructivist Grounded Theory; and a second phase of Research-Action, aimed at investigating the didactic mediation strategies that are activated between expert adults and students and in peer interaction. In the first case, 20 participant observations and 40 non-directive and semi-structured interviews were conducted; in the second case, an Educational Robotics Laboratory was carried out with the students, using Coderbot as a didactic mediator. First of all, the results show that the Popular School model is characterised by strong educational supervision, greater flexibility, dynamism and support than the traditional school, the individualisation of the students’ learning paths and the low numerical ratio between educator/teacher and pupils. This makes it possible to follow the individual student closely without “letting him or her get lost”. The school thus presents many structural differences with respect to the traditional school system, especially regarding the prominent position of the educator, who plays a supporting role on several levels. The results then invite reflection on the fragilities of the public education system, from which training needs emerge, particularly in the socio-educational sphere. Furthermore, the didactic mediation strategies put into practice during the peer tutoring phase of the Laboratory are discussed and a hypothesis is put forward regarding the effectiveness of this methodology in contexts of strong socio-linguistic deprivation. In line with the theoretical part and the research questions, the results outline an initial deconstruction and re-semantisation of the concept of “drop-out” in the light of that of “functioning”, proper to the bio-psycho-social model. The school is also configured as a paradoxical example of inclusion: in fact, the idea emerges that in order to pursue the objective of greater equity and justice in the school environment, there is sometimes a need to envisage alternative and highly individualised paths, which contrast with a canonical path to which experiences of exclusion and difficulty are linked.

Testo completoThe ideal of inclusive society is based on principles of justice and social cohesion. It translates into a desire to include people at risk of poverty and exclusion, to reduce social inequalities and to encourage participation in the life of society. Faced with social inequalities, specific policies are implemented for people with disabilities. They translate into a principle of widespread accessibility to employment, education, built, transport, leisure, culture, digital technologies, etc. In our society where the uses of digital technologies appear to be the cure for all social problems (Proulx, 1990), what benefits can people with disabilities derive from the uses of these technologies? To answer this question, I went to investigate people welcomed in medico-social institutions in Brittany. I accompanied their use of digital technologies and in an ethno-methodological approach (Lapassade, 2000) and ecological of activity (Denis, 2009), I analyzed these uses as a social construct (Jouët, 2000). In this research we will see how the appropriation of digital technologies by people with intellectual disabilities or mental disorders transforms the negative representations they have of themselves and brings out a power to act with digital technologies that participate in their emancipation

Testo completoAlong with the deinstitutionalization movement, supports for persons with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) have shifted to promotion of person-centered supports inclusive in the community. Although successes have occurred regarding physical inclusion, skill building and social inclusion have not fared as well for those with more significant disabilities. This study evaluated a 5-week intensive, behavioral, specialized training and skill-building program for transition-age youth and emerging adults with more significant intellectual disabilities in a community college setting that utilized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies. Eighteen persons with significant IDs participated in the study in a mixed methodology research design. Through voluntary sampling, eight participants received the intervention first, in Group 1, and ten participants received the intervention second, in Group 2, through a quantitative switching replications design. Results were analyzed with a sequential explanatory approach for mixed methodology research. The results demonstrated a statistically significant increase when participants were in the intervention group, as compared to acting as the control group, on the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Program Plan (VB-MAPP), which measures social and communication skills. A similar pattern was trending towards significance on the Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS). No statistically significant difference occurred on the Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (ABAS-3). Subscales on the San Martin Scale (SMS) for Quality of Life demonstrated statistically significant interaction effects for five of six subscales, when individuals were in the intervention group, but the treatment gains did not maintain after the intervention ended. The multiple-probe across-behaviors design demonstrated that participants were able to gain one to three skills while in the intervention, but, again, little carry-over effect was found on skills in baseline until the skill teaching was implemented. Further analysis demonstrated high satisfaction on the part of caregivers. Qualitative focus groups demonstrated a significant dichotomy between Theme 1, Fitting into a System, which did not meet individual needs, and Theme 3, Learning is Meaningful, which described successes and skill increases from the intervention as seen by caregivers. Results provided evidence that a short-term behavioral intervention can be effective in increasing skills, demonstrating satisfaction, and improving quality of life, combining a focus on behavior with one deriving from the disability rights movement.
