Testo completoThe research investigates mutations initiated within news mediation and processuality after convergence culture and digitalization, both social-discursive phenomena which imposes on Journalism an extensive debate agenda, especially since readers and sources started playing leading roles as news content co-producer instances. It is assumed that there is a liquid scenery, where changes in Journalism are up and running, what leads us to establish as a general objective of the research the characterization of liquid journalism. The research object is Journalism itself, encircled within Journalism Studies, regarding complexities resulting from new relations featured when society starts to discourse in network and systemically, as from information flows. Online journalism is reasoned in plural, namely online journalisms, as it is admitted that there are multiple variations concerning visibility, credibility, content moderation, effective engagement of interacting individuals and the objectives aimed by different websites. It is adopted the theoreticalmethodological classification proposed by Mark Deuze for the study of online journalism, open publications and blogs, which categorizes them in four models. The research assumes that the concept of “news” changes its place, starting to shape itself also along information flows and events created in an intermediate space-time within various online journalisms. Alongside, seeks evidences that along this process in flows, successive and plural mediations are effectively established, allowing us to assert that liquid journalism is characterized precisely by multilevel mediation and by news flows. Methodologically, it is a study which combines literature review, specially national and international researches which might help to evidence and qualify the changes, with some plurality of techniques. Beyond theoretical-methodological classification by Mark Deuze, it is also used the concept of Contract of Communication by Patrick Charaudeau, to analyze aspects connected to situational and communicational scopes, trying to identify, within other aspects, the identity of the partners, the objectives and themes in each online journalism model, as well as its own particular mediation processes. It is employed the concept of illustrative case studies proposed by GJOL, where the goal is the interpretation of phenomena. Specific aspects of netnography are used to map web communication evidences and dynamics, be it through online content analysis, or by mapping links and news communication patterns. Along the research some model sites are analyzed in details, as Google Notícias, Observatório da Imprensa and CMIBrasil, Brazilian arm of Indymedia. The same applies to Fatos e Dados blog, from the state company Petrobras, used here as a preferential example to discuss institutionalized journalismsource relations, and some of the journalistic-communicational strategies carried out and performed at social networks by single sources with great visibility. The nature tragedy which devastated Japan lands the research empirical materiality to point out, in a single case, the range of liquid journalism in the beginning of 21st century. As a direct result of the investigation, seven tendencies of field boundaries enlargement are indicated: 1) diffused journalism; 2) residual recovering journalism; 3) deepen collaboration journalism; 4) reader-centered news prevalence; 5) local content appraisal; 6) personalization of news fruition and 7) plurality of voices and frames concerning the same fact.

Testo completoENGLISH ABSTRACT: After a decade long multi-faceted political crisis, political parties in Zimbabwe signed the Global Political Agreement (GPA) of 2008 following the Southern African Development Community’s (SADC) mediated talks culminating in the formation of an inclusive government. This study sought to investigate the political role, if any, played by the diasporic media in mediating the Zimbabwean crisis. This research focused on diasporic media using as a case study The Zimbabwean newspaper considering that during the research period it was circulating both in the country and diaspora communities in Western Europe, the USA and SADC countries. Diasporic media in Zimbabwe is a phenomenon associated with the rise of robust political opposition to the former ruling ZANU PF regime. Accordingly, such media operated outside the purview of the contemporary legislative and legal regime although the newspaper circulated in Zimbabwe. A number of anti establishment news media sprouted to challenge and offer resistance in the cyberspace and on shortwave and in print media. The Social Responsibility Theory was employed with the aim of establishing whether or not The Zimbabwean observed the journalistic ethics of reporting with truthfulness, accuracy, balance and objectivity. The Social Responsibility Theory’s thrust is on de-sensationalising reportage, promotion of media ethics and self regulation. This study employed both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The research established that The Zimbabwean newspaper played, to a larger extent, an active role in challenging the ZANU PF-led government and gave a platform to the oppositional Movement for Democratic Change. The conclusion arrived at in this study was that just like the state media, which promoted the government’s propaganda, The Zimbabwean did the same for the opposition parties in Zimbabwe.

Testo completoThe following research proposes a discussion on how the use of new communication tools can influence TV journalism and on the way it is produced, as well as on how the producers have been dealing and seeing these changes. Such tools allowed the former known receptors here understood as those individuals who watch TV newscasts and didnt have any relation with its ways of production to also become content producers. We discussed a new communication model, which makes former theories dealing with this phenomenon to take a step further and construct new models to explain this process. This new phenomenon also demands that the TV newscasts journalist producers deal with a new reality and we intended in this study to comprehend if they are prepared for this challenge.

The information and communication technologies have motivated the urgency for new relationships between the subjects and the media. The Internet, especially the web 2.0, introduced the issue freedom and the exchange of subjects. Any individuals with access to the net got conditions to produce and spread information, at any given time and place. This scenario, which has a meaningful contribution within the increasing mobility of subjects record technologies, gives a new status to the collaborators / readers. However, on web newspapers, the possibilities for readers to be incorporated to the process of journalistic production are pre-defined and limited. At the same time they invite the audience to participate, these media follow the holders of sense protocol of the enunciations. By the means of selection and mediation processes, they decide to include the contents or not, even in participating or collaborative channels. This research investigated the interagents' collaborations in the online participating journalism Reader-Reporter, from reference web newspaper zerohora.com. Through a subject analysis, it was aimed to understand, on one side, the readers' motivations to send collaborative materials to the section and, on the other side, to assess the selection or mediation of subjects process carried out by the channel editing professionals. The logics that rule the behavior of the actors that are involved in this negotiation are analyzed based on their intersection with the codes of the conventional or collaborative journalism. Besides tracing a profile of the readers' contributions in the collaborative channel, the study also investigated the process that is triggered within the web newspaper in order to have a collaboration published. The outcomes show that the participative online journalism practiced through the Reader-Reporter section has achieved with limits the status of democratization tool and, in short, represents an additional channel for information reception, mostly underestimated by the web newspaper editorial staff.

Testo completoThe Masters degree dissertation is a research about weblog and the way the journalistic firms use it. In the first part, we did an historical and etymological examination to understand this concept of hypertext page, as well as we look for convergences between the two forms. For that purpose we search, in the blogs lexical ambiguity meanings, the confluent definitions, discovering the most usual way as a column, particularly in the form of digest. After that we watch, in the Brazilian press available samples, those that evaluate, as a kind of media criticism, the meaning and the action of journalistic procedures, choosing by the detailed examination of two cases: the Blog do Observatório da Imprensa (Bloi) and the No Mínimo Weblog, examining quantitatively the production, available in the Annex A, as well as qualitatively, by hermeneutics and the Discourse Analysis. To make familiar those that are unaware of the concepts of this methodology, was enclosed a glossary. In the verification of the results, we conclude that the publications, choosing the journalism as protagonist of its narratives, value the activity and sends, by the argumentative texture, to the tradition of journalistic praxis.

In 1986, introduced to a new form of communication in Brazil - the notices - which has become a hegemonic model in proposing public cultural policies. The hypothesis is that it might just be a means of communication between artistic production and its financing became mediation (Martin-Barbero), overflowing its logic to all sectors of culture in the public and private spheres , thus composing over time, which here will be called editalização process. This process flourished along with the cultural journalism crisis, which does not act critically in relation to the tax relief mechanism installed in the country. The research aims to clarify the consequences of the kind of media coverage that cultural journalism practice. The theoretical part of the Martin-Barbero proposal (1987), which alerts us to the transformation of media in mediations. With it, you can find the new media environment in which cultural production has operated since the implementation of the Sarney Law, in a arising legacy of dictatorship-Civil Military in Brazil (RUBIM, 2008), and that has been woven by design policy associated with the market economy (MÉSZÁROS, 2002). The need to clarify the impact of the type of communication that is being built is justified because according to the theory Corpomída, what becomes a habit starts to act as a cognitive operator (Katz and GREINER, 2005)

Testo completoProfessional specialization has been intensified and it interferes in contemporary social relations. On one side the individuals become experts in some particular activities while on the other the interdependence of those skilled groups expends. This fact demonstrates the necessity of dialogue spaces and effective communication mechanisms. That is the reason to discuss the journalism and the journalists role as a space and as an agent of social mediation. In this research, we argue about how the dialogue can be preserved besides the typical diversity of society and how journalistic communication interferes in this process. Our hypothesis indicates an approach of journalism to the durkheimian concept of organic solidarity. According to Durkheim the occidental capitalism society is characterized for the process of social division of labor but somehow groups and individuals remain in relation. We try to comprehend how social dialogue can be preserved in this scenario. Durkheim suggests that the key is the organic solidarity - in this social phenomenon people recognize themselves by the similitudes they share with their own groups in addition those characteristics work as remarkable differences observed in comparison of other groups. The organic solidarity reaches its completeness when individuals feel part of their particular groups but also recognize themselves as part of the society. Our hypothesis considers journalistic communication as a dialogue social space where organic solidarity is showed and somehow is amplified by journalistic mediation. To test this hypothesis an empirical research based on urban ethnography method was developed. The focus of observation is the interactions mediated by journalism in the traffic space of Região Metropolitana de São Paulo (Center of São Paulo\'s State). We emphasize the journalistic narratives about traffic, produced by Rádio SulAmérica Trânsito reporters and their impacts in public interaction with the truck driver who besides being a professional group are also a specific social agent

Testo completoThe aim of this study is to realize the importance of the newspapers and of the cultural journalism in medium-sized cities in the construction of the necessary links between the population and culture, being dancing the object of study in the city of Caxias do Sul. Bauman, Barbero and Sodré are the reference authors to delimit the proposed theme. If the Caxias do Sul´s newspapers report events that occurred in the city and do not publish articles leading to reflection and to criticism, they do not help their readers to think about dancing as an art that produces knowledge .The present study proposes the existence of a relationship between what the two daily newspapers in circulation in the city of Caxias do Sul publish about dancing, the role they play in the cultural mediation and the cultural role that dancing plays in the city .The aim is to highlight whether the visibility, invisibility or displacement of art news in the society depends on the specific contexts of each newspaper company since they are responsible for selecting the news. Guareschi, Oliveira and Piza, among other authors, are my bibliographic references. The research object came from a time span selection which comprises everything that was published about dancing during the last ten years in both newspapers in Caxias do Sul. The time period was chosen due to the hypothesis that in that time the beginning of a cultural change was noticed both in the city and in the cultural journalism itself, when the Cia Municipal de Dança de Caxias do Sul The Caxias do Sul City Dance Company was created in 1997. The two chief-editors of the newspapers were interviewed to identify the criteria adopted by the press, to understand what they consider news, how they treat the forms of representing the news and what they think about the mediation process that is established with the printed news. Through this research we realize that the cultural journalism in medium-sized cities tends to be bound to specific interests or also to lack of critical knowledge of the art being transmitted. Even with some significant changes regarding the approach of journalism towards dancing, the present moment demands a reflection on cultural mediation, a responsibility of the cultural journalism

The main objective of the present thesis is the description of the concept of peace in the press, out of 360 news selected from the international sections of three newspapers: LA VANGUARDIA, EL PAÍS and AVUI. Each newspaper has a different style of approaching this issue and the way we describe the profile of the three newspapers. The subject of peace opens a wide range of study, since the concept of "peace" has always existed in the course of the history of mankind; in addition, some efforts have been made and are still made to work for peace and to try to reach it outside of different actors, from political estates and ONG to civil society. We find that peace actions, which are many, are well present in our society and in the world, but they don't make big news in the media. In the field of journalism there are journalists and reporters that emphasize the ethical sense of the profession and the responsible information given to the general public. The journalism on peace issues is regarded as an attitude that should favor a policy to promote peace information, which takes into account the human rights as well as the human obligations that would contribute to resolve many well known worldwide conflicts. After analyzing the news, a broader concept of peace emerges; a concept that refers to pacification processes such as peace agreements and negotiations, among others, and which have identified mediation signs and concrete actions for peace in conflict situations. Given the extraordinary complexity of the selected news we have chosen, we classify them into seven thematic sections: USA, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Vatican, This just shows a first picture of the main areas related to conflict. In the press the concept of peace often appears oversimplified, for that reason we propose different guidelines and criteria that may contribute to make possible the journalism on peace.

We have observed the contemporary rise up of a phenomenon: the discursive shuffling of the various realities. The former differentiative processes that split discourses in factual (real) and fictional (unreal) have lost strength before the striking emerge of mediatic image which power of turning any subject believable wiped off such opposition. In structuralizing the information in a spectacular way, the media generated a discursive leveling/convergence presenting under similar faces the various perspectives on the world. Moreover, for basing themselves on the entertainment-information logic, the offered product is a factual-fictional alloy. In what regards the Brazilian conjuncture, this situation becomes evident when we notice that journalism presents us reports under a fiction look (fictionalization) and soap operas, on the other hand, with factual features (factualization). Therefore, there is a noticeable encounter generating dialogue: there are frequent cases in which soap operish matters are discussed on news media and vice-versa. It is from under this scope that the present study is risen, which main objective is to analyze the mediatic-discursive interaction process between fictional and factual fields, and so perceiving the structuralization of the discursive transit in mediatic ambience. This research first presupposed the problematization of some key-concepts to be known, reality and fiction, in order to achieving the nature of this opposition. Afterwards, the observation of which present conjuncture aspects guided to an imbrication of such instances became important. Understood the context, we could turn to the text, in other words, we could perceive how the pointed interaction takes place. So, the empirical step was achieved: we developed an exploratory research around the incidence of subjects dealt by the soap opera Mulheres Apaixonadas (fictional representative), also around printed journalism (factual representative) we bound ourselves to weekly magazines Veja and Istoé and the daily newspaper Folha de São Paulo in the same broadcasting period of the mentioned program. In addition, in a contrary way, we verified through references in the ambit of this soap opera and through interviews given by its author, Manoel Carlos, up to what point the quotidian presented on news programs was present in the discussions of such narrative. At the end we noticed, in a more precise way, a network structured media in which such great cohesion brought up a new environment where it no longer matters if the images refer to facts or fictions, the only relevant condition of these discourses is that they are now simply mediatic realities.

Testo completoThe present work aims to expose the work developed on Culturgest’s curricular internship, inserted in the last semester of the Master in Communication Sciences - Specialization in Communication and Arts. At a time when journalism is undergoing several transformations it becomes necessary to understand how it has been adapted to different social, economic and technological contexts. The style analyzed here is cultural journalism, and the aim of the research is to identify its challenges and contingencies. Beginning with the evolution of the concept of culture and the way it is perceived in contemporary society, the purpose is to understand their influence within the paradigms which underlay this journalistic style. The multiple possibilities offered by digital media will also be considered. In terms of research, two journalist articles about Culturgest’s events will be analyzed in order to characterize the mediation process. The theoretical framework developed will be properly linked to interviews with the stakeholders involved on the dissemination of Culturgest’s activities.

Testo completoThis investigation is centered on the form as the social media express and constitute the consumptions and life styles of today societies. With the fusing between advertising and programming, the limits between what is advertising material and not advertising material become more fluid. Thus, in the market driven journalism the traditional formula that separated the content of the media (entertainment, information and education) of the advertising (selling), is replaced by another one, where the proper advertising can be seen as entertainment and information, such as the normal media programming. This hybrid nature is present on the articles in analysis. We take as referring empiricist 1105 news of the portuguese press, collected between 2004 and 2005, in the bigger circulation newspapers and magazines of generalist information. Being the consumption a central and structural activity of our societies, it discloses traces constituent of its organization. This study allowed to identify some of these traces from the defined analysis dimensions – “body care”; “diets and food”; “health”; “substances”; “leisure”; “icons”; “metareflexivity”. We have concluded that our societies have been stimulating new requirements in the consumers, which requires them to have more capacities of critical analysis, an attitude of responsibility and the capacity to develop organized forms of solidary action, what expresses the concept of “consumerism”.

When we study health journalism, we can’t pass around the mediator role of the journalist in the transmission of specialized information to society. It is up to the professionals who deal with these complicated issues the noble mission of filtering, directing and mediating, before it reaches readers, viewers, listeners or internet users. Virgin information, which runs between experts and society, can be quite accurate, but it will run a huge risk of not being understood. And health, more than other areas, is reflected in the day-to-day life of all citizens: it does not matter everyone, but it concerns everyone. Because we can all be healthy and we can all get sick. In the form of a case study, we will analyze the health segments of the program Edição da Manhã, broadcasted from Monday to Friday, on SIC and SIC Notícias. The ultimate goal is to understand the roles of mediation that may be associated with a health journalist on television. Knowing, from the outset, that the specifics of this medium may change the attitude of journalists and guests, when faced with the need to be understood by an heterogeneous audience. Therefore, in health segments on television, the journalist’s role of mediator may encompass the functions of curator, explainer, educator and convener. Before specialized information reaches the audience, journalists must filter and explain it - as innovative as it is -, they must show that scientists can lay closer to citizens and, finally, to make it acceptable to the most demanding and understandable by the less prepared and non-specialists.

Testo completoThe increasing mediatisation of societies led to the reorganization of the political action arena, thus turning political events into media rituals. This reorganization of symbolic spaces increasingly empowers the media, as they become means for delivering information, and which brings consequences in terms of forms of communication of both political and social fields. They therefore play a role of mediation between the events and the final product that is made available to the public by selecting and reconstructing reality. Mediation is a structuring process of this media experience where both media and political organizations act together in an effort of cooperation with a view to obtaining visibility to the events. The final result of the journalistic mediation process is the media discourse. Journalistic construction tells a story which is framed by interpretation schemes that characterize and limit journalistic activity – by means of selection processes of newsworthy items, matching of news value criteria, constraints on the journalistic field – thus providing an interpretation of the reported items, and becoming an instrument for creating reality. This paperwork intends to portray journalistic discourse related to political party congresses and conventions in the Portuguese press in two distinct periods: 1994/1995 and 2000/2001. These periods correspond to the end of Cavaco Silva and António Guterres terms of office as Prime- Ministers. For this, a content analysis of journalistic items in the press related to political party events that took place at that specific period of time has been made. An analysis grid was used in order to group meanings in terms of substance of the texts.

Testo completoThis mémoire aims to show that media space, in times of commemoration, is a privileged place for historians who want to capture the dynamics of a community’s memory. Our case study is the media coverage of the centenary of the First World War through the lens of The Guardian, Le Monde and Die Süeddeutsche Zeitung. We analysed in these newspapers the press coverage from June 2014 to July 2017 in the online sections First world war, Centenaire 14-18 and Erster Weltkrieg. This study uses an operative definition of collective memory that allows us to understand the necessity, in the history of memory field, to study journalism not simply as an archive, but also as a discursive space where various complex representations of the past meet and communicate in order to redefine themselves. This discursive space has two points of junction: Practiced history and “mythistory”. The dynamics of this space have been studied for each publication in this research. First, we identify the major historical configurations of the Great War, the role of historians in the coverage, and try to see to which extent these configurations are expressed in the three newspapers studied. Finally, the commemorative intentions of the newspapers are identified and then tested through a study of news-flow and an analysis of the lexical fields of the respective media coverage.
