Testo completoLow-impact response (LIR) is used in a variety of social workplaces. The LIR has mostly been created in a Swedish context by the psychologist Bo Hejlskov Elvén, he has combined international research with his own experiences and created what has become LIR which is now used in places ranging schools to homes for people with dementia. This method has created a debate regarding how efficient it actually is, what results it reaches and to what consequences.Using this as a background, I have tried to understand the method closer. How does the people who use the method experience it? What positive and negative sides does it have? Does it work in all cases? To be able to answer these questions I have interviewed six people from different areas of work and with different amounts of experience, whom have given me their picture of the method. They experience that the method makes work easier in the contact with other people, that it helps them to create stronger relationships and that it as a respectful tone to it. There are negative sides though. It became apparent that the people who work with LIR are missing structure and knowledge in how to organize the work surrounding LIRKeywords: autism, dementia, emotion, low-impact, perception, response.

Testo completoThe purpose of the essay is to increase the knowledge of teachers' experiences of the work with low arousal approach. The questions asked are about teachers 'experiences of the low arousal approach, what perspectives on low arousal approach appear in the teachers' statements and what results a teacher believes that the low arousal approach can give in school. The essay is based on eight interviews with teachers who teaches from preschool class to grade 6. The theory in the essay is the three perspective on special educational, the critical perspective, the compensatory perspective and the dilemma perspective (Nilholm, 2020). The result shows that the teachers believe that they should adopt the method of low arousal approach because it gives them the tools to cope with the students who are easily affected. A low arousal approach also leads to students feeling seen and accepted and a relationship is created between the teacher and the student. The teachers describe that low arousal approach should be implemented in their assignments with the help of increased knowledge through the supervision of a special educator, collegiate learning, lectures and continuing education. The teachers also point out that time needs to be set aside in the organization for this. The teachers point out that consensus is required among colleagues at the school in order for the implementation of low arousal approach in their assignment to succeed. The teachers also describe that the low arousal approach leads to increased goal achievement in the school for students who are easily affected. By preventing and adapting the school environment, the impact of the outbreak will be reduced, and the study environment becomes calmer and safer for all students in the school. The conclusion that can be drawn from the essay is that teachers consider low arousal approach as a useful method in the work with students who easily comes into effect. The teachers in the essay believe that if students are given the right conditions, the outbreaks will be reduced.

Testo completoABSTRACTIntroduction: In accommodations, within the act concerning support and service for certain disabled persons (1993:387), there may occur what is called ”challenging behaviour”. Challenging behaviour can show itself in everything from self-injury, to people who scream and bite themselves and/or their surroundings. This behaviour usually challenges both the staff and the individual him/herself. The causes of this behaviour may be different, but it appears when the individual lacks the tools needed to handle the situation. The staff uses different methods to deal with these situations. Low arousal approach is a method whose principle is that the staff should support the individual in regaining control in demanding situations. Problem: When challenging behaviour occurs, the staff works hard to find pedagogical approaches that primarily benefit the individual, but also the staff. To find individual methods that works requires a lot by the staff, and this study attempts to reveal what resources the staff needs in order to carry out high quality work. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate how the staff in the special accommodation according to LSS, work, and experience the work with a low arousal approach in challenging situations. Method: In order to fulfil the purpose and answer the questions, three semi- structured focus group interviews were conducted with the staff in special accommodations. The collected data was analyzed and divided into themes and subtopics. Result: The result of the study indicates that the staff feels some uncertainty and confusion in the work with the low arousal approach, as well as difficulties in the implementation process. In conclusion, this study suggests that the staff is optimistic about the method and strive unitarily towards the same goal, but with a lack of knowledge and education, the staff feels uncertainty and a lack of motivation. Further research: The results indicate that there is more need for research about implementation methods of low arousal approach, as well as the role of the manager in this. With a good implementation method, one would be able to disseminate knowledge about low arousal approach, both in other professions, but also to other countries.
