The exemplary periodicals from different cultural domains are selected according to their positions in architectural media. Selected examples are thought to be the representative for each domain. The contextual properties of each domain are outlined and compared through a set of variables. These variables appear to form the ground for the identification of the limits of architectural media within contemporary architectural production. Testo completoDrawing on diverse lesbian-feminist and queer strains of criticism, this study provides a close examination of the narrative elements, strategies, and styles used to inscribe lesbian desire into the literary works selected for analysis. The investigation explores how these texts utilize narrative conceptualizations of lesbian desire, critiques of heterophallocentric language and representation, and strategies to create lesbian narrative spaces that challenge the heterosexual presumptions and trajectories which traditionally underlie conventional Western romance narratives. The constructions of "lesbian" identity presented in the texts are fundamentally connected to the creation and operation of these narrative spaces. Thus, in order to contextualize my interpretations and literary analyses, I situate the texts in the respective socio-historical and political contexts in which they were written and received.
The unresolved problems, prevailing tensions, and their individual differences notwithstanding, the narratives examined here collectively contribute to a lesbian counterdiscourse to the 20th-century German literary establishment. By exploring the strategies invoked in these texts to represent a desiring textual lesbian subjectivity, this study hopes to make visible a tradition of Germanlanguage lesbian literature---a fragmented and often marginalized literature---over the last century and to offer German literary studies insights from the periphery of the dominant heterosexual culture. However, this investigation simultaneously and paradoxically also contests the very positioning of German lesbian literature and criticism at the margins by proposing their strategic integration into the German literary canon.

Testo completolt;p align="justify"gt; This study discusses the socioenvironmental impacts provoked by the tourism in the communities of around the Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro, particularly in the district of Bom Jesus do Madeira, municipal district of Fervedouro MG, and in the Municipal district of Araponga MG. Specifically it had as main purposes to evaluate the socioenvironmental and touristic perceptions of residents, merchants and visitors of the access communities to the Parque Estadual da Serra do Brigadeiro. The reference variables for the study were the following ones: culture, economy, preservation of the attractions, tourist and basic urban infrastructure and the conservation of the natural environment. To catch the proposed objectives three semi-structured questionnaires were used, two for each category of individuals evaluated (residents, merchants and tourists). The obtained data were analyzed in a descriptive way, seeking to identify relevant aspects capable to increase the discussions. They have pointed as main results the lack of a participative planning, lack of social, commercial and of the tourism service training of people who work or live in the studied communities and deficiency of basic infrastructure to receive the visitors. Therefore, it was concluded that it is urgent the need to accomplish a participative touristic planning, which should be elaborated and implanted by a professional in tourism, this planning should include proposals which allow the reduction of the possible impacts that the communities can suffer due to the increase of the touristic flow.lt;/pgt;

Testo completoNowadays, children’s education is generating apprehension in parents and teachers who show difficulties in delimiting their roles and actions when related to the placing of limits. Based on the Theory of Social Representations, the present study investigated the social representations of mothers and teachers about limits in children’s development with the aim of understanding how these representations relate with educational practices. Fourteen mothers and eight teachers of private preschools of Porto Alegre participated in the study. Narrative interviews and content analysis were used respectively as procedures of data collection and data analysis. Results indicated the representation of limits mainly as barriers to be respected in favor of morality. The use of dialogue is a resource used in the narratives of mothers and teachers as well as the need for tolerance. Mothers and teachers show many doubts, guilt and lack of security that reflect in children’s development of limits. Teachers attribute the lack of limits to families and mothers do not consider school as an allied in children’s education.

Testo completoThis thesis concerns the power of representation of the directors and the external relevance of the decisional process in italian companies. The Directive 2009/101/EC provides a system in which the legal limits can be invoked and the internal limits cannot be invoked with respect to third parties. From the subjective limitations allowed by the Directive is obtained "by subtraction" that European law provides a default rule, according to which every director has the power of representation separately. In domestic law, in the silence of the statute, the lack of an explicit rule determines the operation of the European default rule. The source of the power of representation has a legal nature, however the statute can determine subjective limitations that can be invoked with respect to third parties. Admitting the external relevance of legal limits on the powers of the directors and accepting the argument that in case of a board of directors the legal model provides that the decision-making power is dissociated from the power of representation, it is argued that the breach of the decisional process can be invoked if the company proves that the third party knew the lack of a legal condition of the process required by law or ignored it culpably.

Testo completoIn Rwanda, from April to July 1994, photographers and cameramen from international news agencies had big difficulties to document the genocide of the Tutsi, blurred by the civil war between the Armed Forces of Rwanda and the Rwandan Patriotic Front, and by the exile of the Hutu civilians in the refugee camps of the neighboring countries. Reporters found many impediments on their road, to take, to send and to spread their images in the Western world : technical damages, military and political censoring, lack of interest from editors, etc. Soon after the event, some photojournalists and cameramen decided to break with the mass-media system. They began to deconstruct their images by artistic representation, more suited to incarnate the genocide and to help the viewer recover the primacy of his look. Concurrently, other artists undertook to elaborate the memory of the genocide, collecting faces and testimonies of survivors and perpetrators, filming or photographing the places of the killings that became memorials. Within 18 years, the amount of artistic representations of the Tutsi genocide is important. Placed in a visual history which paradigm is the destruction of the Jews, these works show the way of a historical, political and aesthetical reflection on the extermination of the Tutsi and its consequences in the Rwandan society after the genocide

Structured data such as sequences and networks pose substantial difficulty for traditional statistical theory which has focused on data drawn independently from a vector space. A popular and empirically effective technique for dealing with such data is to map elements of the data to a vector space and to operate over the embedding as a summary statistic. Such a vector representation of discrete objects is known as a 'continuous representation'. Continuous space models of words, objects, and signals have become ubiquitous tools for learning rich representations of data, from natural language processing to computer vision. Even in cases that the embedding is not explicit, many algorithms operate over similarity measures which implicitly embed the original dataset. In this thesis, we attempt to understand the intuition behind continuous representations. Can we construct a general theory of continuous representations? Are there general principles for semantically meaninguful representations? In order to answer these questions, we develop a framework for analyzing continuous representations through diffusion limits of random walks. We show that measureable quantities of discrete random walks with a latent metric structure have closed form diffusion limits. These diffusion limits allow us to approximate attributes of the discrete random walk such as the stationary distribution, hitting time, or co-occurrence using closed-form expressions from diffusions. We establish limits which guarantee asymptotic consistency of such estimators, and show they work well in practice. Using this new approach, we solve three classes of problems: first, we derive principled network algorithms which connect statistical estimation tasks such as density estimation to network algorithms such as PageRank. Next, we demonstrate that continuous representations of words are a type of random walk metric estimator with close connections to manifold learning. Finally, we apply our theory to single-cell RNA seq data, and derive a way to learn time-series models without trajectories by using stochastic recurrent neural networks.

The purpose of the present study is to introduce and justify the hypothesis that the notion of Will in Shopenhauer s philosophy is better understood when considered as a hermeneutics of Representation. It is defended that the dialogue with the theoretical part of Kant s philosophy, as well as its distinction, operated by Schopenhauer as objective and subjective being and subjective and objective consideration are fundamental issues while constructing Schopenhauer s single thought. By analyzing the relationship between the philosophy and wisdom of Schopenhauer s thought, through the notion of transition (Übergang) and through what we call reverse intelligibility thesis on Metaphysics of Nature and on the process of the objectification of the Will in the world, we intend to interpret Schopenhauer s philosophy as the philosophy of limit. This way, we would make possible the articulation of both the relationship between Will and Representation, and the philosophy with what could be named as wisdom
The question of how the Holocaust should be represented is and has been a problematic and essential question in Holocaust Studies. Certain academics and intellectuals have denied the possibility of representation, and very specially, have denied the use of literary and cinematographic fiction. This thesis analyses the three stages of reception of the Holocaust and their predominant academic discourses. The initial silence and social invisibility of the genocide, in which the Adornian dictum is formulated on the unrepresentability of the genocide of European Jews. Later, the Holocaust is made socially visible, and the emergence of controversial works of fiction force us to consider the option of certain “limits of representation”. And, recently, in which fiction about the Holocaust has become popularized and globalized, and become part of the entertainment and consumer mass media. In this context, in which fictional representations of the genocide of European Jews are now part of our culture, this case study focuses on the narratological analysis of the book, Everything is Illuminated (2002), by Jonathan Safran Foer, in order to present a fictional choice of the Holocaust.

The body has been subject of psychoanalytic observation since Freud’s early works. Based on the impasses of contemporary clinic, this study tries to reflect upon the limits of representation and the acting-out on the body as an extreme effort to inscribe experiences of violence. Body marks such as cuts, fractures, burns and other scars come into play suggesting intense feelings that remain outside the associative circuit. These characteristics seem related to early experiences and to a clinical practice that focus on sensations and perceptions prior to language acquisition. The importance of the Other in the constitution of the psyche and of a body representation is contemplated. The paper`s main objective is to understand how the mother-infant body contact is responsible for giving the baby a sensation of body unification that, in turn, creates a favorable condition for the beginning of the psychical function of representation and elaboration of bodily sensations. Thus, a distinction is made between the hysteria s represented body and the body which is shown, site of excess, of the disconnected instinct that is outside the symbolic field.

Testo completoIn modern-day, it is necessary to examine interest groups and, specifically, their actions within the political sphere, through the exertion of pressure mechanisms, which reflect the role of organized civil society, across the various microcosms of action, in securing the popular aspirations of the broader population in all sectors of life by means of instruments designed to express, channel, and achieve those collective aspirations. In complex and heterogeneous societies, the States inability, due to the emergence of the multiple, often conflicting, demands of industrial civilization, to meet all of these demands on equal terms and bases is manifest, as a consequence of which citizens cannot limit themselves to the role of mere voters, participating in periodic elections, but must assume an active role at the center of government. In this light, pressure groups constitute a legitimate avenue of participatory democracy, with a distinct counter-majority role, intended to represent social forces without backing from the traditional representative structures and contribute toward the optimization of institutional decision-making by drawing public officials closer to the realities of societys true powerbrokers and conferring legitimacy on those measures which can be developed with the participation of the intended target audience. Collective action is founded on constitutional principles, such as the right to petition and the freedom of assembly and association, thus providing a complementary channel of communication between representatives and constituents, as a means to ensure satisfactory standards of governance through vertical control, accomplished in a responsible and effective manner; while underscoring, in turn, that pressure mechanisms cannot be exercised through unlawful means of persuasion or for the purpose of securing manifestly illegal claims. The need to prohibit the pathologies of lobbying activities through the imposition of corrective measures for misconduct and the establishment of legal limits is the primary focus of this study, which seeks to frame the key question to be addressed upon passage of a law regulating the related activities, one which, notwithstanding the existing models set out Foreign Laws, must offer solutions suited to the countrys national specificities.

Testo completoThis piece of work aims to inquire the topic of the limits of representation in the cinema of classical era (1920-1960) on the basis of the organic-pathetic esthetics conceived by Sergei Eisenstein in The Nonindifferent nature, which he names “formula of ecstasy”. After having shown the existence of a double (that is, eidetic and regressive at the same time) nature of ecstasy in Eisenstein, this piece of work will focus on the analogies between this formula and the shaping of the excess of (thematic and formal) pathos in the works by three Hollywood filmmakers: King Vidor, Josef von Sternberg and Orson Welles

Testo completoThis study aimed at comparing the acute effect of three post-exercise recovering methods (active, passive and cryotherapy recovering) on the physical performance, physiological, psychological, biochemical, immunological, performance and sense markers attributed by trained subjects. Twelve male volunteer runners (aged 20.6 + 1.7 years old; Body mass: 64.1 + 5.6 kg; Height: 1.74 + 0.05 m; Body fat 6.8 + 2.7%; VO2máx: 57,0 ± 5,9 mL.Kg-1.min-1; vVO2máx: 15,7 ± 1,7 Km/h; Tlim: 603 ± 243 s.) trained in middle-distance and distance races have accomplished three 30-minute runnings on a treadmill at 80% of the vVO2, estimated through an incremental test. After that, the active (running at 40 % of the vVO2max), passive (sitting on a chair) and cryotherapy (immersion in water with broken ice at 5° [+ 1°] until the height of the iliac crest) recovering methods were applied for 20 minutes in counterbalanced order. Then, the subjects carried out a running test (Tlim) at 100% of the vVO2max. One week before the accomplishment of the tests, a procedure in order to familiarize them with the recovering methods to be applied was carried out. The running limit time markers, total humor disturb, fatigue/vigor ratio, subjective perception of effort, heart rate, lactate, IL-6, tnf-, leucocytes, neutrophils and lymphocytes rates were measured at the moment before the running (M1), after running on the treadmill (M2), immediately after applying the recovering methods (M3) and after doing the limit time running test (M4), except the PSE, which was measured in M1 and M4, and the Tlim and the interview (to analyze the social representations), which were carried out in M4. 18 ml of venous blood were taken, in each moment of the blood collecting so as to carry out the blood analysis procedures. After the results, we reached the conclusion that the use of active, passive and cryotherapy recovering methods within 20 minutes after a 30-minute running at 80%vVO2máx hasnt affect the performance of a following running at 100%vVO2máx until exhaustion. The cryotherapy promotes a higher fall in the heart rate and a smaller lactate removal after the exercise at 80%vVO2máx, compared to the active and passive recovering methods, thus promoting higher production of lactate and a smaller chronotropic response during the follow-up running at 100%vVO2máx until exhaustion; and that the use of cryotherapy does not interfere in the effort perception or in the psychological responses after effort, but it leads to a higher disorder on the immunologic markers, specifically on the leucocytes and lymphocytes. Within the qualitative perspective, it was verified a discursive variety about the choice of the best recovering method. The senses which were highlighted most were, a larger lightness of the body, calming the muscles down and it gets sort of, relaxed in cryotherapy; natural action of the body and when youre tired we stop to rest in the passive recovering; and, continuity of movement, operability, keeping the rhythm and the normality in the active recovering

Testo completoThis work aims at verify the implications in Marguerite Duras literary aesthetic by proposing the denial of representation, through transgression to the traditional narrative. Starting from three texts by Duras which dialogue with the cinematographic language Le camion (1977), Le Navire Night (1979) and La maladie de la mort (1983), this work, throughout three chapters, recognizes in these novels denounce writing, in which the language itself unveils and unmasks its mechanisms. The first chapter proposes the discussion about the different concepts of representation and the search of Duras writing for a possible beyond the truth of what the words hide. At a second moment, I reflect about the impossibility of Duras writing in express an absolute view about the world to be represented, where the dialogue with other languages is an attempt to overcome the condition of discontinuity appropriate to the existence. Finally, in the last chapter, the possible meanings in an aesthetic answer aiming at denying the representation is sought: Duras writing is recongnized as transgression and a refusal of the definitive. The demystifying sincerity to which Duras writing proposes to do, faces the collapse of rationality, with only the experience and limits of dissolution and certainty being left.

Abstract: This paper aims, recognizing the importance of the theme Functions, to present a proposal of activities supported by Geogebra software as a way to enhance the learning of mathematics, where we emphasize the concept of function, the particularities of its representations and the properties, using of the transition between them as a suggestion to remedy the di culties encountered by students in understanding this theme. We also included a notion of the concepts of limit and continuity, understanding that the approach to some topics of calculus in High School would be of great value to assist them in this task, emphasizing that we use technology with traditional actors (oral and written) through dialogic expositive classes.

Hamrin, Göran. "Effective Domains and Admissible Domain Representations". Doctoral thesis, Uppsala University, Department of Mathematics, 2005. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:uu:diva-5883.
Testo completoThis thesis consists of four papers in domain theory and a summary. The first two papers deal with the problem of defining effectivity for continuous cpos. The third and fourth paper present the new notion of an admissible domain representation, where a domain representation D of a space X is λ-admissible if, in principle, all other λ-based domain representations E of X can be reduced to X via a continuous function from E to D.
In Paper I we define a cartesian closed category of effective bifinite domains. We also investigate the method of inducing effectivity onto continuous cpos via projection pairs, resulting in a cartesian closed category of projections of effective bifinite domains.
In Paper II we introduce the notion of an almost algebraic basis for a continuous cpo, showing that there is a natural cartesian closed category of effective consistently complete continuous cpos with almost algebraic bases. We also generalise the notion of a complete set, used in Paper I to define the bifinite domains, and investigate what closure results that can be obtained.
In Paper III we consider admissible domain representations of topological spaces. We present a characterisation theorem of exactly when a topological space has a λ-admissible and κ-based domain representation. We also show that there is a natural cartesian closed category of countably based and countably admissible domain representations.
In Paper IV we consider admissible domain representations of convergence spaces, where a convergence space is a set X together with a convergence relation between nets on X and elements of X. We study in particular the new notion of weak κ-convergence spaces, which roughly means that the convergence relation satisfies a generalisation of the Kuratowski limit space axioms to cardinality κ. We show that the category of weak κ-convergence spaces is cartesian closed. We also show that the category of weak κ-convergence spaces that have a dense, λ-admissible, κ-continuous and α-based consistently complete domain representation is cartesian closed when α ≤ λ ≥ κ. As natural corollaries we obtain corresponding results for the associated category of weak convergence spaces.

This thesis is committed to investigate the limits of the autonomy of collective will, which willbe based on the historicity and the main concepts of representative bodies of workers andcollective bargaining, focusing especially in Brazil. So, first will discuss the evolution of tradeunion rights in Brazil and internationally, to then enter the justification of autonomy of the will, with its historical evolution in our country, and then deal with social conflicts and developconcept and the principles to be observed relating to collective bargaining, also considering theintrinsic limits to the autonomy of the will. Finally, it is clear in supporting the mostcontemporary vision of the Supreme Court opening the flexibility of labor rights throughcollective bargaining, taking into account the development of freedom of choice and basicparameters of human dignity

Testo completo“Everything is physical” physicalists claim. “Everything except qualia” reply the defenders of the Knowledge Argument. This thesis argues that both parties to this debate are committed to a traditional picture according to which one can tacitly adopt the standpoint of an off-stage narrator, capable of distinguishing ab initio between the different items in this conceptual scenario. The main claim here is that every time we artificially introduce a sharp conceptual distinction separating these two items or levels (mental and physical), we must automatically make a sophisticated conceptual leap in order to link the first-person qualitative perspective with the external physical world. Thus the physicalism/qualia dispute is only a by-product of an extended theoretical conception of the mind/world link which entails two distinct kinds of problems: (i) structural problems (to define and determine conceptually dual items like thought/matter, reason/senses, subject/object, etc.). Such problems require us to question “how are these items supposed to work together?” and this leads us to the second group of problems: (ii) mediation problems. The first group of problems inevitably leads to explanatory gaps; the second ends up needing to appeal to conceptual leaps in order to ensure the necessary link between two separate items. This exerts a powerful influence over the cast of our thoughts: seen from this angle, all philosophical enterprise comes down to the question of where to place the three following parameters: the world as it is, the conceptual picture which aims to represent the world as it is and the theorist-painter gifted with the ability to capture the world picture as it is. We also face the problem of finding the right mediators to assure coherence among the members of this trio, and the problem of setting the valid criteria guaranteeing the theorist-painter that what is captured on his conceptual canvas does indeed correspond to the world as it is, i.e. that he is not laboring under the delusions of an evil genie. In this thesis I argue against this way of putting things

In this thesis, the author gives an explicit formula for the Fourier transform of the canonical measure on a nilpotent coadjoint orbit for GL(n, R). If G is a real, reductive algebraic group, and O C g* = Lie(G)* is a nilpotent coadjoint orbit, a necessary condition is given for 0 to appear in the wave front cycle of a tempered representation. In addition, the coefficients of the wave front cycle of a tempered representation of G are expressed in terms of volumes of precompact submanifolds of certain affine spaces. In the process of proving these results, we obtain several limit formulas for reductive Lie groups.

Abstract: The concept of minimal affinization, introduced by V. Chari and A. Pressley, arose from the impossibility of extending, in general, a representation of the quantum group associated to a simple Lie algebra to the quantum group associated to its loop algebra, which is always possible on the classical context. A special class of minimal affinizations is that of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules, which are minimal affinizations of the irreducible modules having multiples of the fundamental weights as highest weights. These modules are objects of intensive studies because of their applications in mathematical physics. One problem of particular interest involving minimal affinizations is that of describing their characters. In this work we present some formulas for the characters of minimal affinizations when the simple Lie algebra involved is of type E6. The main strategy used here was proposed by V. Chari and A. Moura by considering the classical limit of minimal affinizations. The formulas are obtained through a systematic study of certain graded modules for the corresponding current algebra given by generators and relations. The main point is to prove that these modules are isomorphic to the classical limits of the minimal affinizations when the latter are regarded as modules for the current algebra

Testo completoFor the Brazilian society in general indigenous issues is seen as complex as it seeks to integrate the various indigenous ethnic groups with non-Indian, a nationalist ideological discourse, while preserving their culture starting with abstract conceptions and general on the subject. Symptomatic of this are the various ways of referring to indigenous peoples throughout history, observed both in literature and in the formulation and enforcement of rights. Given this reality, this research aims to study social protection aimed at indigenous children who usually stay overnight in the city of Ponta Grossa in the company of their families in the sale of handicrafts, in order to understand, through the different speeches of representatives of agents government, how they interpret and apply the rights and guarantees to indigenous children. Looking up through these speeches, which grasp concepts and representations that these agents have on indigenous children in the city and how this impacts on social protection, through their practices. To this end, the research uses the literature review as its theoretical support, both to introduce the reader to the field of representation, and to present the image of the Indian construction and their children in Brazil, and to briefly discuss the main conflicts and tensions between Indians and non-Indians in the country's history, the collection of data from the Home Support Indian to know the profile of indigenous families and children who remain there, and field research through informal conversations held with public officials responsible for indigenous issues in the county and collection of their personal testimony through semi-structured questionnaire. Thus, the research will consist of three chapters, in order not only to situate the reader briefly about indigenous issues in Ponta Grossa, but to allow reflection on the possibilities and limits of social protection of indigenous children in the county, through field representations.

Eutrophication has been listed as one of the main problems of water pollution on a global level. In the Brazilian semi-arid areas this problem takes even greater proportions due to characteristical water scarcity of the region. It is extremely important to the predictive eutrophication models development and to the reservoirs management in the semi-arid region, studies that promotes understanding of the mechanisms responsible for the expansion and control of algae blooms, essential for improving the water quality of these environments. The present study had as its main aims, evaluate the temporal pattern of trophic state, considering the influence of nutrients (N and P) and the light availability in the water column in the development of phytoplankton biomass, and perform the mathematical modelling of changes in phosphorus and chlorophyll a concentrations in the Cruzeta man-made lake located on Serid?, a typical semi-arid region of Rio Grande do Norte. To this, a fortnightly monitoring was performed in the reservoir in 05 stations over the months of March 2007 to May 2008. Were measured the concentrations of total phosphorus, total organic nitrogen, chlorophyll a, total, fixed and volatile suspended solids, as well as the measure of transparency (Secchi) and the profiles of photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and electrical conductivity in the water column. Measurements of vertical profiles have shown some periods of chemical and thermal stratification, especially in the rainy season, due to increased water column depth, however, the reservoir can be classified as warm polimitic. During the study period the reservoir was characterized as eutrophic considering the concentrations of phosphorus and most of the time as mesotrophic, based on the concentrations of chlorophyll a, according to the Thornton & Rast (1993) classification. The N:P relations suggest N limitation, conversely, significant linear relationship between the algae biomass and nutrients (N and P) were not observed in our study. However, a relevant event was the negative and significant correlation presented by Kt and chlorophyll a (r ? = 0.83) at the end of the drought of 2007 and the rainy season of 2008, and the algal biomass collapse observed at the end of the drought season (Dec/07). The equation used to simulate the change in the total phosphorus was not satisfactory, being necessary inclusion of parameters able to increase the power of the model prediction. The chlorophyll a simulation presented a good adjustment trend, however there is a need to check the calibrated model parameters and subsequent equation validation

The object of this research was the Barracão Project from Marilia city-SP which cares for children and teenagers from 06 till 18 years old uncompleted in situation of risk. It was developed a study that focuses an organizable historical. It was a qualitative search that takes part in the History area of Contemporaneous Brazilian Education based on bibliographic sources and search in the field-work using as theoretical methodological support the Theory of Social Representation. It was a reflection work that tried to interpret remarkable moments in the history of the educative practices of the Project at issue built as since the founders' memory and analyzed as since the social representation of its actors supported in authors of Education, Philosophy, Sociology and Psychology, because we understand History as an enterprise of analyses and comprehension of a fact that needs other Sciences. Our theoretical view was built as since Paulo Freire's educational thought, education concepts for solidary and democracy. We noticed lack of criticism consciousness on students' and some educators' representations as well and in our opinion this fact binds the objectives of the Project, featuring its principal limit. However, the possibility we trace is the signification of the pre-existent practices, emphasizing the links between educators and students, but directing the activities to the practice of a criticism consciousness and the possibility of changing the unjust social reality in which we are inserted.

Testo completoPrior to the development of the multiscale numerical methodology, one-year of sonic anemometer and wind LiDAR measurements from the FINO1 offshore platform are analyzed. A comprehensive database of offshore measurements in the lowest 250 m of the boundary layer is developed after quality data check and correction for flow distortion effects by the measurement mast, allowing the characterization of the offshore conditions at FINO1. Spectral analysis of high frequency sonic anemometer measurements is used to estimate a robust averaing time for the turbulent fluxes that minimizes non-universal contributions from mesoscale structures but captures the contribution from boundary layer turbulence, employing the Ogive function concept. A stability classification of the measurements is carried out based on the Obukhov length. Results compare well to other surface layer observational studies while vertical wind speed profiles exhibit the expected stability-dependency.
Although NWP models have been extensively used for weather forecasting purposes, a comprehensive analysis of its suitability to meet the wind energy requirements needs to be carried out. The applicability of the WRF mesoscale model to reproduce offshore boundary layer characteristics is evaluated and validated against field measurements from FINO1. The ability of six planetary boundary layer (PBL) parameterizations to account for stability effects is analyzed. Overall, PBL parameterizations are rather accurate in reproducing the vertical structure of the boundary layer for convective and neutral stabilities. However, difficulties are found under stable stratifications, due to the general tendency of PBL formulations to be overdiffusive and therefore, not capable to develope the strong vertical gradients found in the observations. A low-level jet and a very shallow boundary layer cases are simulated to provide further insights into the limits of the parameterizations.
Large-eddy simulations (LES) based on averaged conditions from a convective episode at FINO1 are conducted to understand the mechanisms of transition and equilibration that occur in turbulent one-way nested simulations. The nonlinear backscatter and anisotropy subgrid scale model with a prognostic turbulent kinetic energy equation is found to be capable of providing similar results when performing one-way nested large-eddy simulations to a reference stand-alone domain using periodic lateral boundary conditions. A good agreement is obtained in terms of velocity shear and turbulent fluxes of heat and momentum, while velocity variances are overestimated. A considerable streamwise fetch is needed following each domain transition for appropriate energy levels to be reached at high wavelengths and for the solution to reach quasi-stationary results. A pile-up of energy is observed at low wavelengths on the first nested domain, mitigated by the inclusion of a second nested domain with higher resolution that allows the development of an appropriate turbulent energy cascade.
As the final step towards developing the multiscale capabilities of WRF, the specific problem of the transition from meso- to micro-scales in atmospheric models is addressed. The challenge is to generate turbulence on inner LES domain from smooth mesoscale inflow. Several new methods are proposed to trigger the development of turbulent features. The inclusion of adequate potential temperature perturbations near the inflow boundaries of the LES domain results in a very good agreement of mean velocity profiles, variances and turbulent fluxes, as well as velocity spectra, when compared to periodic stand-alone simulations. This perturbation method allows an efficient generation of fully developed turbulence and is tested under a broad range of atmospheric stabilities: convective, neutral and stable conditions, showing successful results in all the regimes.
