Nowadays businesses face multiple issues regarding new phenomena like cloud computing, which is a great business impetus: with the minimization of capital expenditure (CapEx) on IT infrastructure and personnel the efficiency can be improved. Technically this is not a new invention, but it is changing the approach to IT service, which has become outsourced, highly adaptive and scalable. Of course, the change in the technical landscape always implies security issues. Information security is not just a set of technical countermeasures: it is also a business requirement. This achievement was the result of better patient risk assessment, intensification of treatment, appropriate use of BM transplantation, and improved supportive therapies. Among risk factors, early response (originally morphologic and today minimal residual disease) has acquired a prominent role. The predictive value of minimal residual disease evaluation as a measurement of in vivo drug resistance opened new perspectives for its use in clinical evaluation to determine a risk-b

Abstract (sommario):
Risk prediction models are potentially useful tools for health practitioners and policy makers. When new predictors are proposed to add to existing models, the improvement of discrimination is one of the main measures to assess any increment in performance. In assessing such predictors, we observed two paradoxes: 1) the discriminative ability within all individual risk strata was worse than for the overall population; 2) incremental discrimination after including a new predictor was greater within each individual risk strata than for the whole population. We show two examples of the paradoxes

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract The article analyses the relationship between investment risk (as measured by the variance of returns or standard deviation of returns) and liquidity risk. The paper presents a method for calculating a new measure of liquidity risk, based on the characteristic line. In addition, it is checked what is the impact of liquidity risk to the volatility of daily returns. To describe this relationship dynamic econometric models were used. It was found that there was an econometric relationship between the proposed measure liquidity risk and the variance of returns.

Abstract Objectives: Genetic susceptibility is thought to contribute to the development of multiple primary cancers (MPC), often called secondary cancers. Although rare variants contribute to risk, these only account for a small fraction of MPC cases. The contribution of common variants to risk is unknown. Methods: To identify common genetic variants associated with the risk of MPC, we conducted a trans-ancestry meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS), including 7,360 MPC cases and 138,684 controls from the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial an

SummaryGenetic studies suggest that hundreds of genes associated with stroke remain unidentified. Exome sequencing proves useful for finding new genes associated with stroke. We aimed to find new genetic risk factors for cardioembolic stroke by analysing exome sequence data using new strategies. For discovery, we analysed 42 cardioembolic stroke cases and controls with extreme phenotypes (cohort 1), and for replication, 32 cardioembolic stroke cases and controls (cohort 2) using the SeqCapExome capture kit. We then analysed the replicated genes in two new cohorts that comprised 834 cardioembol

This article analyses the impact of oil prices on bond risk premiums issued by emerging economies. No empirical study has yet focused on the effects of oil prices on government bond risk premiums. We develop a model of credit spread with data from the EMBIG index of 17 countries, from 1998 to 2008. An analysis in time series is carried out on each country and a panel analysis used to determine the global impact of oil prices on investors’ risk perceptions. We suggest a new estimator for oil prices to take into account the effect of the price variance, and show that oil prices influence the ris
