Although the Earth’s atmosphere is composed of ~80% nitrogen gas (N2), it is inaccessible to most living organisms in that form. In this study, six annual legumes and the perennial, red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) were monocropped (MC) and intercropped (IC) with barley in a field study with three N levels, 0, 30 and 60 kg N ha$ sp{-1}$.
