Testo completoThe interest is on those decision problems for which an optimal or quasi-optimal solution is sought, and for which it is necessary to solve successive instances (recurrent problems) that are variations of a common original problem. The structure of such problems is analysed to identify the characteristics that can be exploited and transferred from one resolution to another, to incrementally improve the quality of the optimization process. The research is characterized by the interaction between a process of statistical learning (from optimization data) and a process of optimization. The information extracted from past resolutions is generalized to the current problem and integrated into the optimization algorithm to make its execution more resource-efficient.In particular, this thesis presents three contributions. The first, introduces a method that generates a simpler sub-problem to an instance of a recurrent problem, using multi-label classification. A subset of decision variables is selected and set to a reference value. The solution to the remaining sub-problem, while not guaranteed to be optimal for the original problem, can be obtained faster. The second employs Supervised Learning, classification and regression, to predict an additional constraint to a reference recurrent problem modelled via Mathematical Programming. When a new instance is solved, the model predicts how much of the solution to the reference problem is still applicable, allowing for a more rapid resolution. In the third, the dynamic control of the parameters of Evolutionary Algorithms is framed as a Reinforcement Learning problem. The control policies obtained guarantee that the optimization algorithm reaches an optimal solution within the shortest, average time

Testo completoScheduling deals with the allocation of required tasks to limited resources over time, to be processed. The scheduling problems arise among others, in areas of product manufacturing, computer processing and transportation. In this thesis we focus on the cyclic version of the scheduling problem. We review the properties of both the general scheduling and cyclic scheduling problems. As the cyclic scheduling problem is NP-Hard complexity, the time to solve the problem requires exponential time in the worst case scenario. This factor has motivated this research work in developing an efficient neural network approach to solve the cyclic scheduling problem. This thesis focuses specifically on the cyclic job shop and cyclic flexible manufacturing system problems hence models that will solve the minimum cycle time or work in progress of the problems, were developed. These models are fundamental to which the neural network approach can be applied. From the literature, the absence of neural network research into solving the scheduling problem is due to its characteristics such as complex architecture, defining initial conditions, difficulty in tuning its parameters (i. E. Learning rate, stoppage conditions, etc) and tendency for infeasible solutions. However, in this thesis, we develop and study three variations of the neural network approaches. These are the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) approach, the Lagrangian Relaxation Recurrent Neural Network (LRRNN) approach and the Advanced Hopfield network approach. Several algorithms were combined with these neural networks to ensure that feasible solutions are generated and to reduce the search effort for the optimum solutions. A Competitive Dispatch Rule Phase (CDRP) was developed to generate initial feasible solutions before the three neural network approaches are initiated. This is important as the search space of the problem can be reduced through this approach. For the cyclic flexible manufacturing system problem, a Modified Competitive Dispatch Rule Phase (MCDRP) is developed in response to having the best possible cyclic schedule with minimum work in progress, for the neural network approaches to work from. As the solutions may be trapped in local minimum energy state, a schedule perturbation phase was developed to ''kick-start'' the search effort. Finally using the developed schedule Postprocessing phase that contains the Adhere Conjunctive and Adhere Disjunctive algorithms, the subsequent final solutions are always feasible schedules. We also extended the review into the cyclic job shop problem with linear precedence constraints. From cyclic scheduling literature, it is possible to transform the linear constraints into the equivalent uniform forms, hence the Delinearization algorithm was developed. We were able to demonstrate the suitability and applicability of the RNN, LRRNN and Advanced Hopfield network approaches through computational and comparative testing. The experimental results indicate that the three approaches are attractive alternatives to traditional heuristics in solving the cyclic scheduling problems, even though in some cases, it is computational expensive

Testo completoThe purpose of my research is to point out the fact that there is in the moderns monetary economic analysis, the bases of an alternative approach. One can actually set the orthodox theory against the theory of circulation ; the arguments of the last one found among different authors ; some of them contempory and others less recent. Those authors have reacted more or less clearly against the leading monetary economics thought. One of the olders and most reputable reference is F. Quesnay, the precursor of the circuit approach. Similar approach can be found with K. Marx through his patterns of reproduction. The importance of those two authors lies on the fact that they were among the first ones to demonstrate that the economic circuit is in fact monetary. Then they have set the money at the center of macro-economic analysis. A conception of the same kind is found with Keynes and among his followers, especially the economic circuit french theoreticians. According to them, the money is entirely integrated in the economic system. This stands against the neoclassical theory that inserts money only at the level of exchanges. On the opposite, according to the circuit theory, the money interferes throughout the whole economic process, including in the setting up of the production process, since one should produce goods before they are exchanged. Then it is obvious that money plays a specific role before being used as means of transactions. This is without any doubt the merit of the circuit theory to have succeded in integraty goods and money, production and exchange. It is however excessive to make any optimistic conclusion about the superiority of this theory on the neoclassical one which preserves the market as the reference ; and this for the very good reason the circulation analysis despute the progress achived enough stability to be considered as an alternative paradigm. Effectively there is no clear agreament yet among his proponents and none is likely to be in the current stage of things
