Abstract (sommario):
Radium is a naturally occurring alkaline earth metal that is present in soils, water, plants, and foods in low concentrations. In the analysis of radium in trace amounts, co-precipitation is the favoured way of separating an element from its matrix. In this case, radium is co-precipitated with barium. The purity and yield of the extraction is controlled by adsorption onto the barium sulfate precipitate and pH manipulation controls the solubility of certain products. This technique enables the removal of interfering lead-210 to yield a purified radium source for analysis, which is done using li

Abstract Radium-228 (228Ra) and Radium-226 (226Ra) isotopes in drinking water are significant from the aspect of radiation protection and human health. In this paper, the three most common preconcentration methods, i.e.coprecipitation, absorption and evaporation, were reviewed with emphasis on routinely measurement techniques. The reviewed measurement techniques include low background γ-spectrometry, α-spectrometry and liquid scintillation counting. The γ-spectrometry technique is the good selection, when the maximum sensitivity is considered. The Environmental Protection Agency guideline has

Radium isotopes (226Ra, 228Ra, 224Ra, and 223Ra), are transferred from the sediments to seawater, making them ideal tracers of sediment–water exchange processes and ocean mixing. Abstract (sommario):
In this review the main streams of using alpha-emitters radium-223, actinium-225, bismuth-213, astatine-211 in complex treatment of malignant tumors are reviewed. The features of radiobiological actions of alpha-emission make its more effective in hundred times than beta-emission. The efficacy of this kind of radionuclide therapy does not dependent from chemoresistance and radioresistance to beta-emitters. The results of experimental and initial clinical investigation, which indicate on promising further investigations in this direction, were revealed. Key words: radionuclide therapy of malign

Abstract (sommario):
190 Background: For men with symptomatic metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), radium-223 was shown to improve overall survival in the phase III, double blind ALSYMPCA trial. Despite the observed benefits, the application and practice patterns of Radium-223 outside of clinical trials are largely unknown. Here we aim to better characterize the use of radium-223 in a large and heterogeneous real-world population. We identify treatment patterns associated with radium-223 and link these patterns with time to skeletal related event (SRE) and mortality. Methods: We reviewed charts
