Abstract (sommario):
In this paper, we consider the choice of remanufacturing strategy of a monopolist original equipment manufacturer under the cap-and-trade regulation in the presence of the assimilation effect. We model the manufacturer’s optimal decision-makings and associated profits under three different remanufacturing strategies. Our results indicate that the assimilation effect reduces the manufacturer’s motivation to become engaged in remanufacturing. Specifically, there exists a threshold for the intensity of the assimilation effect for the manufacturer to enter remanufacturing. First, when the assimila

Due to the need for resource utilization and environmental protection, remanufacturing is used as an effective means to achieve a circular economy. To focus on the production and sales of new products, manufacturers outsource the remanufacturing of used products to remanufacturers. The equilibrium decision-making is obtained by using the variational inequality method.

Abstract (sommario):
Due to the conceptual degrees of freedom in their product structure, electric vehicles offer high potential for remanufacturing-oriented product design. This potential is, however, not realized yet. Remanufacturing as one fundamental element of a circular economy is characterized by specific challenges caused by uncertain information about the condition and the timing of the returning product. By means of a case study within the remanufacturing industry, the effects of uncertainties on remanufacturing operations are examined and different approaches within the field of production management to

The primary consequences of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, are global warming, environmental pollution, and climate changed. The manufacturing industry in Indonesia contributes 28% of carbon emissions. An initiative to reduce carbon emissions is the collection end-of-life products to be reused. Remanufacturing aims to restore products value to its original state or even surpass it, offering the same high quality and warranty as new products. The motivations for remanufacturing included lowering costs, shortening manufacturing times, and reducing resources to improve profitability

As an important energy conversion mechanism, centrifugal compressors play an important role in the national economy. The blade is one of the most critical components of the compressor. Damaged blades contain extremely high added value for remanufacturing. Thus, remanufacturing research on damaged and retired impeller/blade is getting more and more attention. Laser additive and milling subtractive composite remanufacturing technology is an effective means to achieve metal parts remanufacturing. Remanufacturing is a viable option to extend the useful life of an end-of-use product or its parts, ensuring sustainable competitive advantages under the current global economic climate. Challenges typical to remanufacturing still persist, despite its many benefits. According to the European Remanufacturing Network, a key challenge is the lack of accurate, timely and consistent product knowledge as highlighted in a 2015 survey of 188 European remanufacturers. With more data being produced by electric and hybrid vehicles, this adds to the information complexity challenge already experienced in

Abstract (sommario):
The green ecological property is increasingly recognized as a sustainable option in remanufacturing. In practice, despite the environmental concerns expressed by consumers, the growth of the remanufacturing industry falls short of expectations, largely due to the fact that, although remanufacturing conserves costs and is beneficial to our environment, it may not be a profitable option for OEMs, a major barrier in its appearance to green consumers. Many researchers have proposed that environmental groups and similar entities should provide necessary subsidies to encourage green consumerism and

Facing a growing amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), a recent recast of the WEEE directive has put a specific reuse target for manufacturers, aiming to reduce environmental pollution and incentivize a green product design. In this paper, in order to examine whether the above two goals can be achieved by setting a specific reuse target, we have modelled a closed-loop supply chain consisting of a supplier (the leader) and a manufacturer (the follower) with the constraint of a mandated remanufacturing target. In this model, the supplier determines the level of interchangea
