Maksimau, Ruslan. "Algèbres KLR et algèbres de carquois-Schur". Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015PA077160.
Testo completoIn the first part of the thesis we give a construction of a basis of the positive part f of the Drinfeld-Jimbo quantum enveloping algebra associated with a Dynkin quiver. This basis is given in terms of parity sheaves over fields in any characteristic. We also categorify both the multiplication and the comultiplication of f via complexes of sheaves. The second part deals with Koszul duality. Stroppel and Webster have introduced a grading on the cyclotomic q-Schur algebra S. We prove that the obtained graded algebra is graded Morita equivalent to a Koszul algebra. The proof is based on a result of Rouquier, Shan, Varagnolo and Vasserot that identifies the category mod(S) with a subcategory of an affine parabolic category O of type A. This subcategory admits a Koszul grading constructed by Shan, Varagnolo and Vasserot. We identify this Koszul grading with the grading on mod(S). In the third part of the thesis we study a categorical representation in the parabolic category O for affine gl(N) at level -N-e. This category admits a structure of a categorical representation of affine sl(e) with respect to some functors E and F. This category contains a smaller category A that caregorifies the higher level Fock space. We prove that the functor F for the category A at level -N-e can be decomposed in terms of the components of the functor F for the category A at level -N-e-1. To prove this, we construct an isomorphism between the KLR algebra associated with the cyclic quiver with e vertices and a subquotienl of the KLR algebra associated with the cyclic quiver with e+1 vertices

Testo completoThis thesis investigates the joint modeling of visual and textual content of multimedia documents to address cross-modal problems. Such tasks require the ability to match information across modalities. A common representation space, obtained by eg Kernel Canonical Correlation Analysis, on which images and text can be both represented and directly compared is a generally adopted solution.Nevertheless, such a joint space still suffers from several deficiencies that may hinder the performance of cross-modal tasks. An important contribution of this thesis is therefore to identify two major limitations of such a space. The first limitation concerns information that is poorly represented on the common space yet very significant for a retrieval task. The second limitation consists in a separation between modalities on the common space, which leads to coarse cross-modal matching. To deal with the first limitation concerning poorly-represented data, we put forward a model which first identifies such information and then finds ways to combine it with data that is relatively well-represented on the joint space. Evaluations on emph{text illustration} tasks show that by appropriately identifying and taking such information into account, the results of cross-modal retrieval can be strongly improved. The major work in this thesis aims to cope with the separation between modalities on the joint space to enhance the performance of cross-modal tasks. We propose two representation methods for bi-modal or uni-modal documents that aggregate information from both the visual and textual modalities projected on the joint space. Specifically, for uni-modal documents we suggest a completion process relying on an auxiliary dataset to find the corresponding information in the absent modality and then use such information to build a final bi-modal representation for a uni-modal document. Evaluations show that our approaches achieve state-of-the-art results on several standard and challenging datasets for cross-modal retrieval or bi-modal and cross-modal classification

Testo completoThe thesis takes as its point of departure the Jordan decomposition theorem and traces its evolution over the sixty-year period from its statement by Camille Jordan in 1870 to 1930 and the emergence of the theory of canonical matrices. A historical analysis of this particular theorem serves as a lens not only on internal developments of the evolving mathematics discipline of algebra but also on the external developments of mathematics as an internationalizing discipline in the decades around the turn of the twentieth century. The thesis draws from the study of networks of sources in order to analyze the theorem's transformation from a result in nineteenth-century group theory to one in the new twentieth century area of linear algebra, while, at the same time, the thesis explores issues of community formation and the role of tacit knowledge in the evolution of mathematical methods. The thesis will focus on a history the decomposition of matrices as a method of decomposition of a particular form of representation
Thibault, Joan. "Introduction to structure theory and its application to boolean functions". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université de Rennes (2023-....), 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024URENS104.
Testo completoThis dissertation introduces and formalizes the notion of structures as a mathematically sound way to capture various patterns in several domains across sciences. We introduce the notion of structure-based representations as essentially trees or directed acyclic graphs (DAG) of structures. The overall semantics is the composition of the individual structures which allows for inductive and modular reasoning. We formalize the intuitive notions of inductive representations and inductively canonical representations. We prove that the latter are, somewhat, equivalent to canonical structure-based representations. We study necessary and/or sufficient conditions under which structure-based representations are canonical, highlighting the need for a notion of "structural confluence" that was not formalized in previous work and for which we formalize several approximations in this dissertation. Structural confluence allows us to avoid various pitfalls associated with the usual (rewriting-rule oriented) notion of confluence, in particular, the difficulty to generally prove (or disprove) it without further assumptions. We apply our theoretical results to the case of Boolean functions. We show that our theory not only unifies most variants of Binary Decision Diagrams but also suggests new ones in a principled way. We briefly discuss their implementation and encouraging experimental results supporting our claim that structure-based representations are designed for practical use

Testo completoMotivated by the study of relationships between gene expressions and other biological variables, our work consists in presenting and developing a methodology answering this problem. Among the statistical methods treating this subject, Canonical Analysis (CA) seemed well adapted, but the high dimension is at present one of the major obstacles for the statistical techniques of analysis data coming from microarrays. Typically the axis of this work was the research of solutions taking into account this crucial aspect in the implementation of the CA. Among the approaches considered to handle this problem, we were interested in the methods of regularization. The method developed here, called Regularised Canonical Analysis (RCA), is based on the principle of ridge regularization initially introduced in multiple linear regression. RCA needing the choice of two parameters of regulation for its implementation, we proposed the method of M-fold cross-validation to handle this problem. We presented in detail RCA applications to high multidimensional data coming from genomic studies as well as to data coming from other domains. Among other we were interested in a visualization of the data in order to facilitate the interpretation of the results. For that purpose, we proposed some graphical methods: representations of variables (correlations graphs), representations of individuals as well as alternative representations as networks and heatmaps. .
