Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this research paper is three fold: (1) to shed some light on the struggles Albanian return migrants are facing in their psycho-social, cultural and labor market reintegration in the origin country, looking as well to the gendered trajectories of return and re-emigration(2) to highlight their gendered strategies in transferring back in their home country their financial, social and human capital;(3) to better understand the dynamic paths of their migration trajectories and finally (4) to push policy makers to put with high priority the returnees reintegration plan into the policy agenda. We base our analyze on 42 life stories of Albanian migrants, from which, 12 interviews with return migrants from Greece, 30 migrants that are actually in Greece (from which 50% have at least made an 1 attempt to return in Albania and 5 are circular migrants). The study found that: many Albanian migrants return to Albania to stay either temporary or permanently with the idea of investing in home country, though not all of them who return stay in Albania. Returnees and at a greater degree women, face lot struggles and difficulties in their psycho-social, cultural and economic reintegration upon their return, which make them mentally and psychologically vulnerable. Women experienced a sense of disempowerment, reconfiguration and re-traditionalisation of gender relationships upon their return. Labor market integration seem more problematic especially for returned women who faced a gendered gap in labor force participation . Moreover, despite migrant willingness to invest their financial and social remittances in Albania by bringing new ideas in the labor market trend, they experience a sense of disillusion. Therefore, having no support system back home, remaining jobless and in many cases failing in their investment endeavors, make returnees consider further re-emigration as a surviving strategy. This study suggest that it is time for policy makers to compile with high priority and with a gender lens analysis a new National Migration Strategy and Return Reintegration strategy, while developing concrete and coherent measures upon returnees successful reintegration in the home country. This policy research brings at the policy agenda an holistic and multidisciplinary approach to returnee reintegration through better multi- level/stakeholder collaboration and dialogue.

Abstract (sommario):
Modem state-political integration processes include more than formation of new supranational organizations with a dominating institutional aspect of integration (global parliament, global government) and universalization of political and economic liberalism, and on the plane of citizenship identity - a "loyality transfer from the old to the new centre". These processes also include some accompanying ones regarding political and social (re)organization of particular countries, especially those on the dramatical transition path, in search for their own development strategy, while simultaneously taking part in wider integrations. Internal state and society (national and social) integration is the key issue of some countries' future. Therefore the issue of state (national) integration and its major postulates is both an important theoretic subject and the interest position of the majority of transitional countries.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyse the role of social enterprises in building social capital and strengthening social bonds. Design/methodology/approach – The analysis is based on the comparative method. The author compares the development of social entrepreneurship of the “old” social economy (born on the turn of nineteenth and twentieth centuries), and of the “new” social economy (developing on the turn of twentieth and twenty-first centuries); and the functioning of social enterprises of two kinds: work integration social enterprises (WISEs) and community-based social enterprises (CBSEs). Moreover, he distinguishes between economic and social re-integration; and reciprocity and vertical inclusion. Findings – The paper presents WISEs and CBSEs as tools of two different activation programmes: WISEs improve the employability of individuals who are marginalized in the labour market, while CBSEs serve as vehicles for the socio-economic development of the marginalized communities and territories. Furthermore, the author clarifies two methods of inclusion: through strengthening horizontal social ties (realized mainly by CBSEs, with their mutuality principle as a basis for building relations between participants) and building vertical social bonds (mainly by WISEs, based on the “inclusion of excluded” formula). Research limitations/implications – The paper stresses the importance of focusing research into social entrepreneurship on the role of social enterprises in shaping social bonds as well as using and producing of social capital of two main types: bonding and bridging. Practical implications – Recommendations for managing social enterprises as hybrid entities. The author argues that the most effective approach (in producing social value-added) is to combine the formula of the re-integration of individuals excluded from the labour market with the efforts to develop the whole local communities from marginalized territories. Originality/value – The author uses sociological perspectives in analysing economic entities and activation policies.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is discussing both challenges and problems that emerge from an intensified cross-border integration, particularly in Europe, which is creating a sort of ‘cross-border regionalism’ that might be sought as a new constituent part of a complex, multi-level system of governance incorporating not only national, but also local/regional agents. Cross-border regionalism is thus not only a system of government, but also a system of ‘grass-rooted’ social and spatial (re)integration of borderlands. This process is closely related to the question of changing territoriality, preserving on the one hand the regional control and on the other hand re-acting societal and territorial co-dependence.

Abstract (sommario):
In this article an alternative thinking and methodological approach for the study of regional integration is proposed, addressing the limitations of classical regional integration theories and the new regionalism approach. A ‘dominatarian’ theory is introduced as an alternative analytical framework that exposes meanings attributed to a social force called ‘personness’, and how regions could be (re)constructed through this anthropocentric lens. The East African Community (EAC, henceforth referred to as the Jumuiya) is chosen as a tour de force for regional integration theories. The triadal analysis of the three main components of classical regional integration theories—economy, institutions and politics—reveals the deficiency of these frameworks in explaining the role of ‘personness’ in regional integration processes, especially within the African context. Consequently, the phrase ‘contextual misfitability’ has been coined to describe this condition. The article concludes with a reflection on how meanings are created and re-created from the Darwinian ontologies of natural sciences into social science regimes and its application to regional integration studies.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract: Integration as an Organizational Routines Labor market (re)integration of employees with reduced earning capacity mainly takes place in companies. Nevertheless, previous research has disregarded companies as specific environments for reintegration. The research focus stays on formal cooperate health care procedures and schematically described actor constellations. Deliberate deviations from these formal procedures and the complex informal coordination of integration in everyday working life, as well as their success conditions, thus remain hidden. To address this unsolved task, we argue for a genuine organizational-sociological perspective on company-based labor market (re)integration. Subsequently, we introduce a model of successful integration processes based on the concept of organizational routines.

Abstract (sommario):
Following the recommendations of Braxton, Sullivan, and Johnson, (1997) to seek explanations for social integration, this study addresses how the fulfillment of college expectations affects social integration. Path analysis is used to examine the effects of having academic and social expectations met on social integration; the effect of social integration on a student's subsequent level of commitment to his/her college or university; and finally the effect of subsequent institutional commitment on the likelihood of student persistence in college. Results from the analyses indicate the fulfillment of students' social expectations for college positively affects both social integration and subsequent institutional commitment. The greater the degree of these, the more likely students will re-enroll in the university.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to qualitatively evaluate the impact of therapeutic horticulture (TH) on social integration for people who have mental health problems. Design/methodology/approach A qualitative grounded theory approach captured the perceptions about TH from people with mental health problems. Data were collected using semi-structured focus group and interviews from a purposive sample (n=7) and were analysed using a constant comparative approach. Findings Four key themes emerged from the analysis: “a space to grow”, “seeing the person”, “learning about each other through nature” and “connecting to nature and others”. The findings suggest that TH enabled participants to integrate socially, engage with nature and develop confidence. Research limitations/implications TH is a potential approach that can help combat social isolation. The findings from this research have implications for people working towards supporting people who are socially excluded. However, this was a pilot study with a small sample size of seven people with mental health problems, whilst four key themes emerged, the saturation of concepts rather than the sample size were saturated to provide an emic perspective of the phenomena. Practical implications TH provides a person centred approach that enables people with mental health problems to re-engage and connect with their fellow human beings. Using TH could help improve the public health and well-being of local communities through re-connecting people to the environment and reduce social isolation. Social implications TH embody the principles of empowerment, person centeredness and can support people with mental health problems to integrate socially. Originality/value There is limited evidence about the influence that TH have on mental health and social integration. The use of TH is an area that is gathering evidence and this small study highlights the perceived potential benefits of this approach.

Abstract (sommario):
Since the 1997 Amsterdam Intergovernmental Conference a sea-change in the formulation and implementation of European Union Social Law and Policy has taken place in response to the demands made by economic, political and monetary union. The evolution of EU social law is an area which has developed within a process or framework of “differentiated integration”,1 not only between the Member States, but also the regions of the EU. Since its emergence in the EU Council's Conclusions of 22 June 19842 the concept of a “European Social Area” has slowly been created by the processes of “Europeanisation”3 of social policy whereby through EU-led processes a “re-nationalisation”4 of domestic policies has taken place. The process is similar to the ideas of “re-regulation” of national law in relation to the basic economic freedoms of the EC Treaty whereby a measure of national autonomy can only be retained through European Community law standards. It is striking how the Amsterdam IGC has led to a definite shift in the paradigm of EU social policy law with distinctive aims, values, processes, new legal tools and new political actors.

Abstract (sommario):
What happens when people of different cultures, values, religion live together? Sociological studies on immigrative phenomenon often swing between immigration and integration policies. These policies actually reveal the difficulty of the host society to institutionalize new models of social differences accompanying multiculturalism. Immigrants who “arrive” continue their life in a place where they do not passively participate in the passing of time, but become actors. Pressed by the hegemonic culture of the host society to adapt, do not cease to practice their religious and origin cultural expressions, often in conditions of urban spatial and social marginalization, they resist assimilation with ethnic persistence strategies. Considering the impact of religion and origin cultural values on expression of differences, it is important to consider their role in the integration process. And, above all—facilitate or hinder integration? These dynamics have been analyzed in a research study on immigrants’ integration process in Palermo. The main results are presented in this paper. In this case study, the research’s data hypothesizes a theoretical model of integration in which immigrants, free to express their religious and cultural differences, tend to reduce their perception of minority

This study is about culture. It suggests that migrants adopt, collectively, new cultural attitudes which they will attempt to maintain after getting re-settled back home. Here, migrants are not seen as "mere actors of social change", nor as abstract rational fulfillers of the logic of capitalist accumulation. Migrants are individuals who have shared a collective cultural experience which will influence their re-integration into their native societies. Given the case of peasants, migrating as low-skilled workers to the oil-producing countries of the Gulf, we face a specific and, in many ways, a unique type of migration:

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – This paper aims to provide a re-envisioning of traditional conceptualizations of scholarship informed by knowledge assets theory, trends shaping the modern university and technological advancements. We introduce social scholarship, a set of scholarly practices being envisioned within the conventional four domains of scholarship (i.e. discovery, integration, teaching and application). This paper provides concrete examples of the benefits and challenges of enacting social scholarly practices in light of Boisot’s theory of information flows, proprietary knowledge and the social learning cycle. Design/methodology/approach – This article is a cross-disciplinary conceptual exploration. Findings – In the model of social scholarship, access to knowledge is spreading faster than ever before; information flows are bi-directional in each domain (discovery, teaching, integration and application) where previously knowledge resided with the institution, flowing out to the public. Relationships between scholars and their university as well as between government, university, researchers and the public are being re-negotiated. Research limitations/implications – Certain limitations may exist, such as the conceptual alignment of a business model of knowledge generation to the university, which has particular cultures, service-orientations and power structures that are unique to academia. Practical implications – The alternative model for scholarship outlined in this paper has implications for those in higher education concerned with faculty recruitment, retention, professional development and performance review. The insights in this paper are also relevant for those concerned with the induction and training of doctoral students and preparation of future faculty programs. Social implications – The conceptualization of scholarship outlined in this paper has implications for a broad, non-specialist audience who seeks to access, critique and provide input on basic, interdisciplinary or applied research as well as teaching in higher education. Originality/value – Using a business model of knowledge generation, this paper introduces how current social media affordances and societal values can and are transforming conceptions of “the scholar,” “scholarship” and the university as knowledge-purveyor.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Return migration, traditionally not a well-studied and often neglected area, is becoming an important component of the international migration debate. Reintegration is an essential part of return migration and identified as a complex process that is experienced differently by returnees. The adaptation of immigrants in the host country has been extensively studied, while much less attention has been paid to economic and socio-cultural reintegration and the difficulties return migrants face once they come back to their homeland. Especially children and youth born in destination countries with sociolinguistic and socialization difficulties face a particularly tough reintegration process. Theoretically, there is comprehensive literature focused on return migration and reasons for return, but less in return migration policies and reintegration process. Empirically, there is a lack of studies focused on the reintegration of returnees, particularly in the socio-cultural aspect. With increased attention to the importance of this process, many states and governments have established policies or programs to encourage the return of their citizens, and facilitate returnees’ successful and permanent relocation in the new society of the origin country. This paper aims to analyze theoretically and empirically the processes of reintegration of returnees in the origin country by identifying the challenges they encounter in the economic and social-cultural life of the origin country.

Abstract (sommario):
This article explores care leavers’ views and recommendations for practitioners and policymakers on the transition from leaving care to living independently in the community. Seven young adults fully reintegrated through programmes in Kathmandu, Nepal, co-produced action research with 21 of their peers (aged 16–26 years). This article outlines how children and young people affected by child sexual exploitation experience community reintegration, and their views on the key issues, reintegration services need to consider. Findings explored boys’ and girls’ experiences of stigma and discrimination by community members and revolved around social and cultural norms and narratives on masculinity and femininity that denied their victimhood. This article focuses on the theme of independence as it appears to reflect a changing context for reintegration practitioners in South Asia. Children and young people had not been reintegrated in their family; instead, they were living independently—a situation that can be described as ‘integration’ (with an urban community) rather than ‘reintegration’ (with their family of origin). Research participants’ exploration of ‘independence’ reflected this context and was defined as emotional or financial independence. The research appears to identify an adaptation to reintegration services to enable a smoother transition for care leavers. Most models of reintegration assume that children will ‘reintegrate’ with their families of origin. This research found that children sexually exploited in Kathmandu chose to ‘integrate’ into a new community to overcome isolation, exclusion and non-acceptance by their families and communities of origin and, in so doing, experienced emotional and financial independence. In this context, successful integration requires the provision of activities for parents that explain indicators of trauma so that they can appropriately support their children. In addition, support for care leavers targeted on psychosocial wellbeing, life-skills and income generation enables young people to live independently from their families and be ‘integrated’ into an urban community.

Abstract (sommario):
National debt and distressed banks in countries such as Greece led to an ongoing recession since the beginning of Europe’s economic crisis. At the same time, austerity measures, all over Europe, reshape economies in a trial to increase global competitiveness. Economic integration as a challenge for social prosperity seems more crucial than ever, while it is a matter of research whether the acquired economic policies lead to further divergence. The paper explores how economic crisis has affected 40 European economies, by using macroeconomic indexes. A re-clustering of these economies is attempted for detecting similarities and differences between European economies. The analysis reveals how close an economic integration is and how a multi – speed European economy would look like today. Moreover, it explores how European economies have transformed during the last five years, in terms of competitiveness’ similarities and how the Gross National Income is related with governance indicators.

Abstract: Refugees’ Labour Market Trajectories in Germany – A Typology of Conditions and Dynamics Where do refugees stand with regard to their labor market integration five years after immigration? This article addresses this question from a biographical and process-oriented longitudinal perspective. In a turbulent life phase, refugees confront the challenging task of finding their economic positioning in a new environment. Based on two waves of narrative-biographical Interviews with Syrian refugees, we identify four typical trajectories of labor market integration: exclusion, employment-related marginalization, re-normalization, and a focus on opportunity. The article highlights factors and dynamics that underlie and perpetuate these integration trajectories.

Abstract (sommario):
Sri Lanka is a multi-ethnic society hence the ethnic integration has been a hot topic for decades. By 2021, it has been 73 years after the independence from British empires, however, natives still struggle for the reconciliation among themselves. Often occurred ethnic clashes usually account for a huge social and economic cost. Various scholars have highlighted that youth is highly active in initiating ethnic clashes. And, it is quoted specifically for the ‘Educated youth’ in Sri Lankan context. Therefore, this study explores the perceptions of ‘multi-ethnic, educated youth’ in heightening ethnic integration in Sri Lanka. This study utilized quantitative research approach and survey method. Primary data was mainly used for the study and collected through an online questionnaire. 100 multi-ethnic youth who are studying in higher education institutions in Sri Lanka selected as the sample using random sampling technique. The readiness of respondents was basically measured through their perceptions with respect to the social integration model proposed by Awang et al (2019). Descriptive statistics were used in analyzing data. The results showed that the overall readiness of educated youth in promoting ethnic integration is high in Sri Lankan context. The respondents are almost ready for the social acceptance and cultural appreciation levels of the model. However, they have showed, relatively a slight attraction towards compromisation and adaptation levels for which a high degree of ethnic tolerance is required. Therefore, it can be concluded that the majority of educated youth are social extroverts and are aware the importance of integration. However, since they showed a little attraction towards the upper layers of integration pyramid, there is a need of re-evaluating existing social integration policies. So that, some policy recommendations are suggested to enhance more operational activities in reconciliation process to reach the upper levels of ethnic integration (compromization and adaptation) in Sri Lankan context.

Abstract (sommario):
In a recent development, the Nigeria Prison Service was renamed, “the Nigeria Correction Service”, a move that is designed to reorient the department along the lines of emergent demands of justice dispensation on the global scene. This study examined the extent to which the new Nigeria Correction Service can adjust to the laudable objective of repositioning itself for purposes of reformation and re-integration of the nation’s ex-convicts for a better Nigerian society. Data was obtained from secondary materials including books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, the internet, etc. Content analysis was adopted as the mode of analysis while the theory of social integration (Blau, 1960) was employed as the theoretical framework of the study. Findings revealed that the re-orientation of the “service” for purposes of reformation and reintegration of ex-convicts had long been taking place as many of such citizens had either acquired a good measure of education while in prison, learned various vocations, and even attained higher spiritual growths. The study suggested adequate funding to enhance the effort of the service in achieving its objectives.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThis study offers a conceptual analysis of the social economy in China within the context of institutional transition. In China, economic reform has engendered significant social changes. Accelerated economic growth, privatization of the social welfare system, and the rise of civil society explain the institutional contexts in which a range of not-for-profit initiatives, neither state-owned nor capital-driven, re-emerged. They are defined in this research as the social economy in China. This study shows that although the term itself is quite new, the social economy is no new phenomenon in China, as its various elements have a rich historical tradition. Moreover, the impact of the transition on the upsurge of the Chinese social economy is felt not only through direct means of de-nationalization and marketization and, as a consequence, the privatization of China's social welfare system, but also through various indirect means. The development of the social economy in China was greatly influenced by the framework set by political institutions and, accordingly, legal enabling environments. In addition, the link to the West, as well as local historical and cultural traditions, contribute towards explaining its re-emergence. Examining the practices in the field shows that the social economy sector in China is conducive to achieving a plural economy and an inclusive society, particularly by way of poverty reduction, social service provision, work integration, and community development. Therefore, in contemporary China, it serves as a key sector for improving welfare, encouraging participation, and consolidating solidarity.

We provide a characteristic of the social and psychological characteristics of this group of young people, allowing to include them in the system of juvenile justice. We present the data on the nature of the crime of young adults, including those with a migration background, and on the kinds of social control and legal sanctions against them. We present models and the specific experience of working in state, municipal and non-governmental organizations with young adults in need of re-socialization and further integration into society. The comparative aspect of this problem is considered from the standpoint of the Russian legal and social policy for young adults in conflict with the law.

Abstract (sommario):
This article details intersectional social movement storytelling produced by a racially mixed group of gay men in the 1980s to articulate, and insist upon, antiracist gay liberation. Based on a larger project of narrative ethnography of the organization Black and White Men Together (BWMT), I describe how BWMT drew upon the movement story of an ideal community from the civil rights movement (Beloved Community) and re-storied it to confront a narrow gay movement and reassert an anti-racist gay liberation critique. I trace how they did so via storytelling strategies using (1) “salience work” and (2) what I call “both/and work”— interpretive processes operating to shift the symbolic code of integration and the emotional code of love to be relevant in the complex political context of the 1980s. I conclude by reiterating how these strategies are bound to their times and assert the potential of social movement storytelling for intersectional scholarship.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to outline relevant policies on the integration of health and social care (HSC) in the four home nations: Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England and offer a comparison of emphasis and approaches and draw out general insights on the implementation of integrated care policy. Design/methodology/approach The paper is written as a piece of critical reflection by drawing on the authors’ knowledge and expertise and wider evidence where available. Findings Since 2010, HSC integration has started to diverge significantly in the four constituent countries of the UK. Although England and Wales have undergone considerable re-organisation of the NHS, Scotland and Northern Ireland have largely been marked by organisational continuity. However, beyond organisational differences, policy approaches, policy emphases and implementation strategies have also started to show considerable dissimilarity across the UK. An important contributory factor may be different ideological perspectives on the role of competition and pilots, partnership, patient choice and organisational incentives to bring about change in the field. Research limitations/implications The paper identifies a serious lack of comparative research in integration policy, despite the considerable opportunities for quasi-experimental studies. This lack of empirical research impedes shared learning across the home nations. Originality/value The paper presents a descriptive comparison of current integration policy between HSC providers in the four home nations. It reveals considerable opportunities for further research and comparative modelling of integration approaches.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACTLiberian ex-combatants are generally seen as uprooted urban youths with a history of unemployment, underemployment and idleness. The data that form the basis of this article suggest another picture. What caused the Liberian youth to fight were mainly security concerns, suggesting that the effects of ‘idleness’ and ‘unemployment’ are overstated with regards to people joining armed groups. They went to school, worked and lived with parents or close relatives prior to the war. They are not Mkandawire's (2002) uprooted urban youths or Abdullah's (1998) ‘lumpens’. They lived quite ordinary Liberian lives, and based their decision on whether to join an armed group on the security predicament that they believed that they and their families were facing. This suggest that disarmament, demobilisation, reintegration and rehabilitation approaches are in need of re-thinking that links them more directly to social cohesion and societal security.

This article outlines the main premises of a phased NET-based protocol to treat traumatic attachments named Interpersonal Narrative Exposure Therapy. The protocol integrates the standard protocol with attachment-based therapies to propose a three-phased model of in-tervention where the stabilization phase is integrated and progresses in parallel with the work on traumatic memories. The protocol focuses on the intersubjective stance between the client and the therapist during the stabilization with an attention to non verbal communi-cation exchanges and moment of ruptures and repairs. The protocol put together a struc-tured work on the therapeutic alliance - based on attachment theory and the infant research paradigm - to support the patient in the relationship domain defensive attitudes and the re-integration of traumatic memories through the standard NET protocol.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Introduction Facilitating access to one-to-one peer support is an important criterion in providing aftercare for individuals with a burn injury. Although there is an increase in understanding of the perceived benefits of peer support, there are not many studies examining peer support as an intervention to promote community re-entry. This comparative study aims to examine if there is a difference in physical and mental health outcomes, including social reintegration between a group that received one-to-one peer support (PS) and a group that did not receive the peer support (NPS). Methods Subjects include adults (>=18y) with a major burn injury who received treatment at a major burn center and consented to participate in a longitudinal national database at discharge from hospital, 6-, 12-, and 24-months post injury. The physical and mental health outcomes were measured using the SF-12 Health Questionnaire – Physical (PCS) and Mental (MCS) component (50 is the average score or norm); the Satisfaction with Life Scale, and Social Integration (SI) was measured by the Community Integration Questionnaire Social Component Scale (score range 0–12; 0 is no community integration and 12 is excellent community integration). The PS program offered at the burn center is a standardized program that includes an 8-hour peer volunteer training. Independent Samples t Tests were conducted to see if there were significant differences in health outcomes between the group that received PS and the group that did not receive PS (NPS). Results Over a period of 5 years, 228 subjects consented to participate in the database. Subjects were predominantly male (70%) and White (72%), with a mean age of 44 years and the mean total body surface area was 24.8%. Sixty-three (28%) subjects received peer visits during their stay in the hospital. Compared to the NPS group, the social integration score for the PS group was higher at all time points, although it was statistically significant only at 24 months (PS= 8.22, NPS=7.13, p< .01). The PS group scored significantly higher in satisfaction with life at 6 months (p< .01) and at 12 months (p< .05). There were significant differences found in TBSA %burn (PS = 31%, NPS = 22%; p< .001), average length of acute hospital stay (PS= 52 days, NPS = 31 days; p< .01), and average length of in-patient rehabilitation stay (PS= 12 days, NPS = 5 days; p< .05). Conclusions The social integration and satisfaction with life scores of the PS group was higher when compared to those of the NPS group. The study highlights the profile of patients who seek peer support visits and has implications for delivery and utilization of burn aftercare programs. Applicability of Research to Practice The study findings highlight the emerging need for providing burn survivors with resources such as peer support to facilitate successful community reentry, and examine the effects of such interventions on health outcomes.

Abstract (sommario):
Uganda witnessed one of its worst conflicts between 1986 and 2007. The conflict in northern Uganda was between the government troops and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Serious crimes were committed against the civilian population. Women and girls were abducted by the rebels to serve as sex slaves and children were born as a result. After the conflict, these children’s integration has not been well received by their communities. It has not been properly addressed by the state operatives either. The children are dismissed as perpetrators of the conflict. Their return has been marred with stigmatisation and ostracism, forcing them to live on the margins of society. After the conflict, a National Transitional Justice Policy was passed. The overarching framework aims at addressing justice and reconciliation through inter alia social reintegration. However, it leaves an accountability gap. The framework largely departs from the needs of this particular community: acknowledging their existence and integration. The purpose of this article is to identify transitional justice opportunities and how these accommodate and advance accountability, integration and reconciliation in addressing victimisation concerns of the war children. Ultimately, it argues that addressing the abuses of the affected communities will ease social [re]integration.

Abstract (sommario):
Sustainable development constitutes a paradigm which is to respond to the risks of our times (environmental, social and economic ones). It is based on the necessity to use resources in a way which will not deprive future generations of them. Such a development seeks to improve the quality of life of the community while maintaining social equality, diversity and the wealth of natural resources. It can be perceived as a broader social change which Jeremy Rifkin called “the third industrial revolution”, and whose symptoms can be seen today. Within the scope of this concept, there is the social entrepreneurship that, through the market activities, focuses on the social mission. Such a mission may concern a number of issues, such as social re-integration, fighting exclusion, or environment protection. Taking into account the importance of human resources, the social capital and economic efficiency of these enterprises and simultaneously focusing on environmental efforts, constitute a practical dimension of the sustainable development in local communities. One of the social cooperatives operating in the Opole voivodship is a good example here.

Abstract Articulations of Inclusive Education. An Exploration with Stuart Hall This article deals – on a theoretical basis – with inclusive education which has become a buzz word in the educational discourse. Inclusive education connects with and is (re-)articulated in diverse discourses of educational science. Taking into account the power-sensitive concept of articulation by Stuart Hall, this paper presents diverse social formations which have developed as discursive patterns in inclusive education. These patterns hint at an ambivalent constitution of the inclusive education discourse between structural criticism and functional integration. As a result, implications regarding a critical reflection on approaches in the empirical inclusive education research are formulated.

The aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between social security expenditures (SSE) and human development in Turkey between 1990 and 2014. The main variables of the analysis include the proportion of social security expenditures in gross domestic product (GDP) for social security expenditures and the re-calculated real Human Development Index (HDI) values, with data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) for human development. In doing so, the auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds test for co-integration is employed. Abstract (sommario):
The issue of re-nationalization (disintegration and fragmentation) of integration process is manifested by the will of some of the Member States to verify their relations with the European Union. In the age of an economic crisis of the EU and in relation to the large migration of the population, there has emerged strong social and political criticism, on the European level, of the integration process, with some Member States even consideringtheir withdrawal from the EU. In those States, demands forextending the Member States’ competences in the field of some EU policies are becoming more and more popular. The legal effects of the above-mentioned processes are visible in the free movements of the internal market, mainly within the free movement of persons. Therefore, there are problems, such as increased social dumping process, the need to retain the output of the European labour law, the issue of the so-called social tourism, erosion of the meaning of the EU citizenship and the principle of equal treatment.

AbstractPurpose To investigate how completing vocational re-training influenced income and employment days of working-age people with disabilities in the first 8 years after program admission. The investigation also included the influence of vocational re-training on the likelihood of receiving an earnings incapacity pension and on social security benefit receipt. Methods This retrospective cohort study with 8 years follow up was based on data from 2399 individuals who had completed either a 1-year vocational re-training program (n = 278), or a 2-year vocational re-training program (n = 1754) or who were admitted into re-training but never completed the program (n = 367). A propensity score-based method was used to account for observed differences and establish comparability between program graduates and program dropouts. Changes in outcomes were examined using the inverse probability-weighted regression adjustment method. Results After controlling for other factors, over the 8 years after program admission, graduates of 1-year re-training, on average, were employed for an additional 405 days, 95% CI [249 days, 561 days], and had earned €24,260 more than without completed re-training, 95% CI [€12,805, €35,715]. Two-year program completers, on average, were employed for 441 additional days, 95% CI [349 days, 534 days], and had earned €35,972 more than without completed re-training, 95% CI [€27,743, €44,202]. The programs also significantly reduced the number of days on social-security and unemployment benefits and lowered the likelihood of an earnings incapacity pension. Conclusion Policies to promote the labor market re-integration of persons with disabilities should consider that vocational re-training may be an effective tool for sustainably improving work participation outcomes.
