Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Assessment of relationships and diversity indices between bird’s communities and composition of the forest ecosystem is an important subject of synecological research to identify the intensity of human impact on the flora and fauna. Urban recreation is one of the major causes of violation of the structural and functional integrity of the forest ecosystem. Studies of avian complex and phytocoenosis have focused on the impact of urban recreation on the compositions of tree, shrub and herbaceous layers and species, trophic and ecological compositions of breeding-birds and feeding-birds c

Abstract (sommario):
The world has been encountering a COVID-19 pandemic since late 2019. The world’s people have also witnessed the free movement of wildlife, even in many urban areas in some countries during the imposed lockdown. We conducted research on the birds in the urban landscape of Jamalpur Sadar upazila from March 2020 to October 2020 during this pandemic situation. A total of 134 species of birds with 4338 individuals were recorded during the study period. The number of resident bird species was the maximum (115 species, 85.82%) compared to migrants. The highest number of birds was observed (120 specie

Aim. The paper summarizes the data on bird counts carried out in 1995–2018 in Piedmont Dagestan. Information on the following points was obtained for the first time: composition of bird species, their average abundance, residence status, faunal‐genetic structure, ecological pattern of the avifauna, as well as the features of territorial distribution of birds in Piedmont Dagestan.Methods. Bird counts were carried out on routes without limiting the transect width, with further separate recalculation per area according to the average detection ranges for groups. The faunal‐genetic structure was d

Nectarivorous birds and bird-pollinated plants are linked by a network of interactions. Here I ask how these interactions influence evolution and community composition. I find near complete evidence for the effect of birds on plant evolution. Experiments show the process in action—birds select among floral phenotypes in a population—and comparative studies find the resulting pattern—bird-pollinated species have long-tubed, red flowers with large nectar volumes. Speciation is accomplished in one “magical” step when adaptation for bird pollination brings about divergent morphology and reproducti

In Java inhabited by 368 species of birds recorded settler and nomad 126 species of birds , but it is not known how many types of them which now lives in urban areas. Bird diversity in the city of Yogyakarta, which was founded in 1755 and now has a population of 388 627 inhabitants, is unknown. The research objective was to determine the diversity, the proportion of community based on the type of bird feed (guild) and bird species nest in the city of Yogyakarta. The study

Gut microbial communities play a fundamental role in health and disease, but little is known about the gut microbiota of pet bird species. This is important to better understand the impact of microbes on birds’ health but may also be relevant in a context of zoonoses. Total genomic DNA samples from pooled fecal samples from 30 flocks (4–7 pet birds per flock) representing over 150 birds of six different species (two Passeriformes: Northern Mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) and Zebra Finch (Taeniopygia guttata), and four Psittaciformes: Lovebird (Agapornis, different species), Cockatiel (Nymphicu

Abstract (sommario):
A study of the species composition of birds at the Nizhneangarsk airport (Northern Baikal, Buryatia) and the adjacent territories within a radius of 15 km was carried out. A wide variety of landscapes and biotopes determines a relatively rich species and ecological diversity of birds. 145 species were identified; the majority of them belong to the order of Passeriformes (41,3%), Charadriiformes (19,2%), Anseriformes (11,7%) and Falconiformes (6,3%), the share of other orders is small (no more than 4%). 39 bird species were recorded in the central area around the airport within a 2 km radius. Abstract (sommario):
Birds were censused weekly from January 1999 to January 2001 along Ilha Comprida beach, a barrier island off São Paulo, southeastern Brazil. To evaluate the similarity in the bird's species composition among the weekly surveys, species counts data were arranged on a data matrix with 144 weekly surveys, analyzed following a multivariate analysis protocol. We counted a total of 205,399 individuals and 52 species. Migratory birds were an important component of the avifauna (maximum N = 21,294 individuals and 14 species). The largest numbers of birds were observed during summer, when Nearctic migr

Abstract (sommario):
Context As humans become increasingly urban, the need for conservation of nature in cities increases and requires an understanding of the patterns and processes of urban ecosystems. In particular, because humans are the most dominant species in urban areas, understanding the role humans play in these ecosystems (direct and indirect) will be of primary importance. Aims We examine the diversity and composition of bird species across an urbanisation gradient in two cities (Berlin, Germany, and Seattle, Washington, USA). We determine the degrees of species urban tolerance and examine how certain b

Abstract (sommario):
Seven species of birds of prey studied in the Evros Delta National Park belong to a common assemblage of a trophic guild. However, their diet study revealed different groups of feeding niches. A cluster analysis provided three groups with very similar diets: The eastern imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca) and greater spotted eagle (Clanga clanga) constituted a group feeding mainly on birds with their diets including 96% (13 bird species) and 98% (16 bird species), by number respectively, most bird prey being water birds. A second group, characterized by a considerable variety of prey types dominat
