De tout ce qui a rapport aux musiques tangoutes et xixia, on met ici un accent particulier sur les instruments, les notations, les poèmes, les images, le lexique et les types de spectacles. Tous ont subi l'influence des musiques traditionnelles tangoutes, d'autres groupes ethniques, et surtout celle des Plaines centrales. Le travail du terrain au nord-ouest de la Chine a permis de collecter des sources, effectuer des recherches dans des instituts, échanger avec des chercheurs, et voir in situ les peintures murales. Surtout, parcourant l'environnement des Xixia je me suis m'imprégnée par l'écoute de leur culture, associant sources historiques, impressions et analyse assistée par ordinateur. Plus qu'un patrimoine ou des vestiges, j'ai découvert des trésors cachés<br>Of everything relating to Tangut and Xixia music, particular emphasis is placed here on the instruments, notations, poems, images, lexicon, and performances. Sédentarisés dans le nord-ouest de la Chine actuelle pendant la dynastie Tang, les Tangoutes créèrent sous les Song l’empire Xixia (en 1038), que les armées de Genghis Khan détruisirent en 1227. La présente thèse porte sur la culture funéraire des Xixia. Elle se fonde sur une étude exhaustive des tombes fouillées à partir des années 1970. Leur nombre est limité, mais leur variété permet de dresser un tableau relativement complet dans la mesure où ces sépultures appartiennent à des classes sociales différentes, de la population ordinaire jusqu’aux souverains, en passant par des aristocrates et des moines. L’analyse des sources écrites vient étoffer celle des vestiges archéologiques. Elles sont également peu nombreuses, mais présentent l’avantage d’avoir plusieurs origines : ce sont principalement des sources chinoises (annales historiques, témoignages de lettrés ou fonctionnaires) et des textes administratifs Xixia. Elles permettent en particulier de confirmer la diversité des pratiques funéraires (la crémation et l’ensevelissement constituant deux modes récurrents) et leur spécificité en fonction de la classe sociale, ou même de l’âge du défunt. La comparaison des vestiges funéraires Xixia avec ceux des Chinois et des autres peuples périphériques permet, au contraire de l’opinion générale véhiculée dans la littérature universitaire chinoise, de faire apparaître l’originalité et la créativité de ce peuple. Celle-ci semble même se manifester jusqu’au plan individuel, en particulier dans l’individuation des tombes ou l’élaboration de motifs décoratifs spécifiques aux tombes impériales. Ce constat conduit à suggérer que les sépultures Xixia constituaient de véritables tombes-portraits<br>After settling in the North-Western part of present China during the Tang dynasty, the Tangut established the Xixia empire under the Song (in 1038). It lasted until 1227, when the dynasty was defeated by the armies of Genghis Khan. This thesis is focused on Xixia funerary culture. It is based on a comprehensive survey of the tombs which have been excavated since the 1970s. They are not numerous, but varied enough to draw a global picture since the tombs belong to members of different social status, from ordinary people to rulers, from aristocrats to monks. Analysis of written documents allows to expand the study of archaeological findings. They are in limited number too, though advantageously from multiple origins, mainly Chinese sources (historical annals, records from scholars and civil servants) and Xixia administrative documents. They notably confirm the diversity of funerary practices (cremation and burying being two recurring modes) and their specificities according to the deceased’s social class, or even his age. A comparison between Xixia funerary remains and those from Chinese or other peripheral peoples leads, conversely to the general view conveyed by Chinese academic literature, to stress the originality and creativity of the Tangut people. As a matter of fact, it seems to show down to the personal level, particularly through tombs architectural individualisation as well as through the production of specific decorative patterns in imperial tombs. This study investigates the ceremonial village of Orongo and the sacred site of Mata Ngarau. They are located on the southern edge of the Ranu Kau volcano crater, as well as the Motu Nui islet in front of the named volcano. Orongo was the scenario of important political and religious events that submerged Rapa Nui and its inhabitants in a magical story from the mid-1500s to the mid-1800s. This study aims, to some extent, elucidate the context in which the legend and the ritual of the Tangata Manu originates and its importance for the development of the Rapa Nui society. The study examines archaeological, ethnohistorical and contemporary evidences of the birdman cult and contradictory theories about the catastrophe that loomed over the Rapa Nui society The archaeological evidence of those events is the silent testimony of the god Make Make and Tangata Manu, the birdman, the god representative on earth. These are carved on the edge and the slopes of the Ranu Kau crater, in the carved and rupestrian paintings of the stone houses of Mata Ngarau at Orongo, in the caves of the Motu Nui islet and in the one of the cannibals, Ana Kai Tangata. Ethnohistorical evidences provide data on the ritual activities in connection to the birdman cult. The social and environmental degradation which causes of the almost total extermination of its inhabitants as well as the eroding of its culture and with it that of the birdman, Tangata Manu. Today the birdman culture and Orongo is one of the prominent visitors’ sites on the island but interviews with Indigenous Rapanui show that the site also continue to have spiritual and political meaning in today’s society. The modern Rapa Nui society today shows contradictory features. On the one hand we see the face of a thriving, mercantilist society, with hundreds of thousands of tourists visiting it annually and buying handicrafts of dubious local creation. On the other hand, we observe the efforts of hundreds of islanders who struggle to maintain their language, their cultural heritage, their petroglyphs, their cave paintings and their legends. That is the spirit of the rebellion of Tangata Manu.

Proteins play a vital role in all organic life. The structure of a protein is directly related to its function. Hence, how they fold and what they fold into is of great interest. Given the spontaneous manner in which many proteins fold, one would not expect complicated structures like knots to occur in native states. Nevertheless, current research has shown that proteins do indeed contain local knots; some with as many as 6 crossings. In general, the role of knots in proteins and how they are formed is not completely understood. This thesis develops models of protein knotting by using knot theory and tangles. Mathematically, a knot is just a topological embedding of a circle in Euclidean 3-space, R3, or the unit 3-sphere, S3. A tangle is defined as a pair, (B, T), where B is a 3-dimensional ball and T is a set of disjoint arcs properly embedded in B. We begin with 2-string tangles and use the tangle calculus developed by Ernst and Sumners to set up tangle equations. In this model the strings of the 2-tangles represent the protein chain. Solutions to these 2-string tangle equations are then found. Motivated by the hypothesized folding pathway of the knotted protein DehI, a more complicated 3-string tangle model is developed. It is hypothesized that a terminal end of the protein is threaded through two loops. In the proposed model, the threading of a terminal end of the protein through two loops is translated into a Γ;-move on 3-string tangles. A Γ;-move is a special type of 3-string tangle replacement. The 3-braids are utilized as a subset of 3-string tangles to find solutions in a limited case. Additionally, tangle models give insight into how to make specific knot types in proteins. We finish with a general result by proving that any knot of unknotting number 2 can be unknotted by the Γ;-move. With these models we determine which knots are the most biologically possible to occur in proteins.

<p> Recently, Bigelow defined a diagrammatic method for calculating the Alexander polynomial of a knot or link by resolving crossings in a planar algebra. In this dissertation, I will present my multivariate version of Bigelow's algorithm for the Alexander polynomial. The advantage to my algorithm is that it generalizes easily to a multivariate tangle invariant. I will also present preliminary results on the connection to Jana Archibald's tangle invariant and conclude with ideas for future research.</p>

In this thesis we investigate the problem of defining an extension of sutured instanton Floer homology to give an instanton invariant for a tangle. We do this in three separate steps. First, we investigate the representation variety of singular flat connections on a punctured Riemann surface \(\Sigma\). Suppose \(\Sigma\) has genus \(g\) and that there are \(n\) punctures. We give formulae for the Betti numbers of the space \(\mathcal{R}_{g,n}\) of flat \(SU(2)\)-connections on \(\Sigma\) with trace 0 holonomy around the punctures. By using a natural extension of the Atiyah-Bott generators for the cohomology ring \(H^*(\mathcal{R}_{g,n})\), we are able to write down a presentation for this ring in the case \(g=0\) of a punctured sphere. This is accomplished by studying the intersections of Poincaré dual submanifolds for the new generators and reducing the calculation to a linear algebra problem involving the symplectic volumes of the representation variety. We then study the related problem of computing the instanton Floer homology for a product link in a product 3-manifold <p>\((Y_g, K_n) := (S^1 \times \Sigma, S^1 \times \{n pts\})\).<\p> It is easy to see that the Floer homology of this pair, as a vector space, is essentially the same as the cohomology of \(\mathcal{R}_{g,n}\), and so we set ourselves to determining a presentation for the natural algebra structure on it in the case \(g = 0\). By leveraging a stable parabolic bundles calculation for \(n = 3\) and an easier version of this Floer homology, \(I _*(Y_0, K_n, u)\), we are able to write down a complete presentation for the Floer homology \(I _*(Y_0, K_n)\) as a ring. We recapitulate somewhat the techniques in \([\boldsymbol{27}]\) in order to do this. Crucially, we deduce that the eigenspace for the top eigenvalue for a natural operator \(\mu^{ orb} (\Sigma)\) on \(I_* (Y_0, K_n)\) is 1-dimensional.Finally, we leverage this 1-dimensional eigenspace to define an instanton tangle invariant THI and several variants by mimicking the de nition of sutured Floer homology SHI in \([\boldsymbol{22}]\). We then prove this invariant enjoys nice properties with respect to concatenation, and prove a nontriviality result which shows that it detects the product tangle in certain cases.<br>Mathematics

Nous nous intéressons à la modélisation de formes complexes de type structures arborescences, formes lacunaires ou surfaces rugueuses. Ces formes sont intéressantes de par leurs propriétés physiques particulières :objets légers, économie de matière, résistance mécanique, absorption acoustique importante. Les modèles basés sur le concept de la géométrie fractale permettent de générer de telles formes et notamment les formes auto-similaires. A partir des travaux de Barnsley sur les systèmes itérés de fonctions, Tosan et al, ont proposé une extension, Boundary Controled Iterated Funcions Systems (BCIFS) pour contrôler plus facilement les formes et faciliter leur description. Nous nous intéressons aux propriétés différentielles des formes décrites par BCIFS. Nous proposons une définition plus générale d'espace tangent qui permet de caractériser le comportement de cas non-classiquement différentiables.Nous montrons que l'étude du comportement différentiel peut alors se faire simplement par analyse des valeurs propres et vecteurs propres généralisés des opérateurs de subdivision. Il devient alors possible de contrôler ces propriétés différentielles. Nous présentons une application de nos résultats, en proposant une méthode pour construire des raccords entre deux structures définies par des processus de subdivision différents. Cette méthode est appliquée pour la construction d'un raccord entre une surface de subdivision de Doo-Sabin(schéma dual) et une surface de subdivision de Catmull-Clark (schéma primal)

The purpose of this thesis is to define a “local” version of Ozsváth and Szabó’s Heegaard Floer homology HFL^ for links in the 3-sphere, i.e. a Heegaard Floer homology HFT^ for tangles in the 3-ball. The decategorification of HFL^ is the classical Alexander polynomial for links; likewise, the decategorification of HFT^ gives a local version ∇ˢ of the Alexander polynomial. In the first chapter of this thesis, we give a purely combinatorial definition of this polynomial invariant ∇ˢ via Kauffman states and Alexander codes and investigate some of its properties. As an application, we show that the multivariate Alexander polynomial is mutation invariant. In the second chapter, we define HFT^ in two slightly different, but equivalent ways: One is via Juhász’s sutured Floer homology, the other by imitating the construction of HFL^. We then state a glueing theorem in terms of Zarev’s bordered sutured Floer homology, which endows HFT^ with additional structure. As an application, we show that any two links related by mutation about a (2,−3)-pretzel tangle have the same δ-graded link Floer homology. This result relies on a computer calculation. In the third and last chapter, we specialise to 4-ended tangles. In this case, we give a reformulation of HFT^ with a glueing structure in terms of (what we call) peculiar modules. Together with a glueing theorem, we can easily recover oriented and unoriented skein relations for HFL^. Our peculiar modules also enjoy some symmetry relations, which support a conjecture about δ-graded mutation invariance of HFL^. However, stronger symmetries would be needed to actually prove this conjecture. Finally, we explore the relationship between peculiar modules and twisted complexes in the wrapped Fukaya category of the 4-punctured sphere. There are four appendices, some of which might be of independent interest: In the first appendix, we describe a general construction of dg categories which unifies all algebraic structures used in this thesis, in particular type A and type D modules from bordered theory. In the second appendix, we prove a generalised version of Kauffman’s clock theorem, which plays a major role for our decategorified invariants. The last two appendices are manuals for two Mathematica programs. The first is a tool for computing the generators of HFT^ and the decategorified tangle invariant ∇ˢ. The second allows us to compute bordered sutured Floer homology using nice diagrams.

Il est connu que l'ensemble des limites d'hyperplans tangents a la surface s en 0 est la reunion de l'ensemble des hyperplans tangents au cone tangent de s en 0 et de l'ensemble des hyperplans contenant des generatrices particulieres du cone dites tangentes exceptionnelles de s en 0. On sait egalement que ces tangentes exceptionnelles correspondent aux points fixes du systeme lineaire des courbes polaires par l'eclatement de l'origine dans s. Nous prouvons ici que les tangentes exceptionnelles de s en 0 correspondent aux points ou la famille des sections hyperplanes de s n'admet pas de resolution simultanee faible, ce qui nous permet de les determiner precisement sur le diviseur exceptionnel de l'eclatement de l'origine. En etendant la notion de composantes de tyurina a une desingularisation raisonnable d'une surface normale, nous demontrons que ces composantes se contractent sur des points fixes du systeme lineaire des courbes polaires par l'eclatement de l'origine. En appliquant ces techniques a l'etude des pinceaux de courbes sur un germe de surface normale, nous determinons les valeurs dites speciales d'un pinceau de courbe, c'est a dire celles pour lesquelles la topologie de la courbe n'est pas generique.

Le mythe de tansun est en etroite relation avec le royaume de kochoson, le premier etat fonde en coree. Ce mythe fut elabore au cours d'une periode qui comprend la fondation de kochoson et celle immediatement posterieure. Celui-ci peut etre classe en cinq types ou versions differentes. Nous avons remarque que les versions du samguk yusa et du chewangungi, versions les pins anciennes, compilees au13e siecle, ont conserve une forme relativement voisine de la forme primitive. Cependant, la mention de l'union entre l'animal et l'homme n'apparait pas dans le chewangungi. Le samguk yusa semble donc la forme la plus ancienne c'est depuis le fin du royaume de koryo, considere comme fondateur de la nation que le mythe a joue le role de centre de gravite, symbolisant autonomie de la nation, la volonte d'independance et la volonte d'unification autrement dit, parce qu'au travers des epoques de koryo et de choson, il n'a cesse de faire l'objet d'une nouvelle comprehension en accord avec les situations concretes d'alors, il est devenu le centre de gravite encourageant la conscience nationale lorsque le peuple coreen traversait des periodes difficiles; tangun demeure au centre de l'histoire dela pensee et des mouvements d'idees de la coree. Cependant il ne convient pas de prendre au pied de la lettre les faits relates dans ce mythe il faut savoir les differencier des faits de l'histoire. C'est pourquoi si l'on procede a une analyse que l'on peut qualifier de scientifique, qui tienne compte du contexte historique, ce mythe peut contribuer, jusqu'a un certain point, a l'enrichissement de notre comprehension de l'histoire du royaume de kochoson.

Tanguy Malmanche (1875-1953), écrivain d'expression bretonne et française, a largement été inspiré par les Symbolistes, aussi bien dans ses poèmes, ses nouvelles, que ses pièces de théâtre. Tel Ibsen en Norvège (dans Peer Gynt), ou Synge en Irlande, il a de plus puisé une partie de la matière de son oeuvre dans la littérature bretonne, aussi bien dans la tradition orale que dans les Mystères du Moyen-âge. C'est ce lien que la présente étude tente d'établir. C'est ainsi qu'après avoir traité des noms choisis par Tanguy Malmanche pour ses personnages, ainsi que de leurs principaux traits de caractère (la fierté entre autres), il sera question du fantastique lié aux lieux (les îles, les fontaines, les bois), puis à certaines qualités –bonnes ou mauvaises- attribuées aux végétaux et au bestiaire. Par la suite sera abordé le thème de la mort, omniprésente dans l'oeuvre de Malmanche, tout comme dans la société bretonne, puis le symbolisme lié aux couleurs et aux nombres, avant de traiter de la sorcellerie, où se trouvent mêlées croyances chrétiennes et païennes, comme en ce qui concerne plusieurs autres thèmes de ce travail<br>Tanguy Malmanche (1875-1953) wrote in Breton as well as in French. He was influenced by the Symbolists in his poems, his short stories, and in his dramas. As did Ibsen in Norway (in the play Peer Gynt), or Synge en Ireland, he drew part of the content of his writings from breton literature, shall it be oral tradition or plays from the Middle-Ages. This work is an attempt to look for possible links between tradition and creation. After having dealt with the names chosen by Tanguy Malmanche for his characters, and some of their main features (proud for instance), the focus will be made on the fantastic aspect of some places (islands, fountains, woods), and on some qualities –good or bad- in relation to plants or animals. The following chapter is about death, a very important theme in Malmanche's writings, as in breton society in general, and with the symbolism of some colours and numbers. The last chapter of this work is about witchcraft, in which christian and pagan beliefs get mixed up, as in many other themes of the thesis

A Thesis submitted to The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine.<br>Objective: Formed visual hallucinations are a common phenomenon in neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). While Lewy‐type alpha‐synucleinopathy (LTSis the hallmark neuropathological finding in PD and DLB, amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles are the pathological finding in AD. Previous research has linked complex or formed visual hallucinations (VH) to LTS in neocortical and limbic areas in patients with PD and DLB. As VH also occur in Alzheimer’s disease, and AD pathology often co‐occurs with LTS, we questioned whether this pathology might also be linked to VH.
Methods: We performed a semi‐quantitative neuropathological study across brainstem, limbic,
and cortical structures in subjects with a documented clinical history of VH and a clinicopathological diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), or dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). 173 subjects – including 50 with VH and 123 without VH – were selected from the Arizona Study of Aging and Neurodegenerative Disorders. Clinical variables examined included the Mini‐mental State Exam, Hoehn & Yahr stage, and total dopaminergic medication dose. Neuropathological variables examined included total and regional LTS and plaque and tangle densities.
Results: A significant relationship was found between the density of LTS and the presence of VH
in all diagnostic groups. Plaque and tangle densities also were associated with VH in PD (p=.003 for plaque and p=.004 for tangles), but not in AD, where densities were high regardless of the presence of hallucinations..
Conclusion: Plaques and tangles as well as LTS may contribute to the pathogenesis of VH. Incident VH may be a clinical indicator of underlying pathological events: the development of plaques and tangles in patients with PD, and LTS in patients with AD.

A knot can be thought of as a knotted piece of string with the ends glued together. A tangle is formed by intersecting a knot with a 3-dimensional ball. The portion of the knot in the interior of the ball along with the fixed intersection points on the surface of the ball form the tangle. Tangles can be used to model protein- DNA binding, so another way to think of a tangle is in terms of segments of DNA (the strings) bounded by the protein complex (the 3-dimensional ball). In this thesis, we look at an algorithm used to list tangles. We also classify tangles into families.

This thesis describes a method for computing globally shortest paths for a point robot in a two-dimensional, orthogonal world composed of convex and concave polygons through the construction of obstacle common tangent visibility graphs. Visibility and intersection testing are based on the orientation of three or more points in the plane, and complex obstacle tangent visibility graphs are constructed using only these orientation relationships. Obstacle common tangents for convex and concave polygonal obstacles are implemented as a computational representation of locally shortest paths. A series of tangent sequences form global paths which equate to global path equivalence classes, effectively reducing the path finding problem to that of finding the shortest path in the path equivalence class. A simple and logical approach for processing concave polygons using convex subpolygons is implemented, allowing common tangent construction and path searching algorithms to process complex geometrical shapes in an efficient and symbolically unique fashion. Dijkstra's algorithm is implemented using heuristic control for optimal path searching. The framework for utilizing constant clearance strips for safe path planning along obstacle common tangents is presented but not fully implemented.

Esta dissertação está centrada no estudo da iconografia da cerâmica marajoara, mais especificamente, na iconografia das tangas cerâmicas pertencentes a diversos acervos e coleções, com o objetivo de refletir sobre figuração durante a fase marajoara. Partindo de uma abordagem que integra Arqueologia, Antropologia da Arte e Etnologia, compreendemos as tangas enquanto objetos de composição, transformação e fabricação corporal, o que também permitiu identificar, em sua iconografia, uma forma de conceber imagens e corpos caracterizada pela integração de figuras aludindo a diversos seres e suas partes anatômicas, e também pela utilização de recursos gráficos que sugerem transformações corpóreas. Assim, as características expressas nesta iconografia foram interpretadas como uma forma de materializar princípios cosmológicos referentes à transformabilidade dos corpos, característicos das sociedades ameríndias, que colocam a transformação corporal como o centro de suas preocupações.<br>This dissertation focuses on the study of the iconography of marajoara pottery, specifically on the iconography of ceramic tangas, to reflect on figuration during the marajoara phase. This work benefits from an approach that integrates Archaeology, Anthropology of Art and Ethnology, enabling us to understand the tangas as objects of composition, transformation and bodily fabrication, and to identify in their iconography a way of conceiving images and bodies, which was characterized by the integration of figures alluding to diverse beings and their anatomical parts, as well as the use of graphic resources that suggest corporeal transformations. Thus, the characteristics expressed in tanga iconography were interpreted as ways of materializing cosmological principles regarding the transformability of bodies, typical of societies that place body transformation at the center of their concerns.

Le premier chapitre de cet ouvrage est consacre a la methodologie de la similitude mecanique, appliquee plus particulierement a la dynamique de mecanismes discrets, etendue a celle des systemes continus lorsque sont conserves les materiaux. Ce point cle implique la conservation des contraintes, donc la division des accelerations, y compris celle de la pesanteur, par le facteur d'echelle. Differentes extensions a d'autres domaines de la mecanique s'en deduisent. Les chapitres 2 et 3 sont consacres a l'etude quasi-statique du contact roue-rail, les forces et pseudo-glissements ayant ete mesures et compares avec differentes expressions theoriques. La theorie de kalker est confirmee. Un lien direct est fait entre les forces de derive mesurees et le bruit de crissement emis par les roues d'un essieu experimental. Un modele analytique simple des forces au contact roue-rail est utilise dans differents programmes de simulations des essais sur banc en similitude d'un essieu (chapitre 4) ou de bogies (chapitre 5). Ces recherches mettent en evidence la necessite de tenir compte de non-linearites, comme les frottements des pivots ou la conicite reelle de l'essieu ferroviaire

Résumé : Dans cette thèse j'ai travaillé sur deux problèmes différents dans le domaine de la Géométrie Algébrique. La première partie de cette thèse consiste dans l'étude de la stabilité des images inverses du fibré tangent de l'espace projectif sur des variétés projectives. La stabilité de ces fibrés est équivalente à celle du noyau du morphisme d'évaluation M associé à un fibré en droites L engendré par ses sections globales. On obtient un résultat optimal dans le cas des courbes projectives et ensuite on utilise ce résultat pour en déduire la stabilité dans le cas des quelques surfaces projectives, notamment K3 et abéliennes. Un second problème que nous abordons est l'étude du lieu fixe d'une involution symplectique d'une variété irréductible holomorphe symplectique de dimension 4 telle que b2 = 23. On montre qu'il y a seulement trois cas possibles pour le nombre des points fixes isolés et des surfaces K3 fixées. On conjecture que seulement un cas soit possible, celui avec 28 points fixes isolés et une surface K3 fixée, et qu'une telle involution ne fixe jamais une surface abélienne. On vérifie cette conjecture dans quelques exemples.

<p> In this article, we give a tangle approach in the study of Legendrian knots in the standard contact three-space. On the one hand, we define and construct Legenrian isotopy invariants including ruling polynomials and Legendrian contact homology differential graded algebras (LCH DGAs) for Legendrian tangles, generalizing those of Legendrian knots. Ruling polynomials are the Legendrian analogues of Jones polynomials in topological knot theory, in the sense that they satisfy the composition axiom. </p><p> On the other hand, we study certain aspects of the Hodge theory of the "representation varieties (of rank 1)" of the LCH DGAs, called augmentation varieties, associated to Legendrian tangles. The augmentation variety (with fixed boundary conditions), hence its mixed Hodge structure on the compactly supported cohomology, is a Legendrian isotopy invariant up to a normalization. This gives a generalization of ruling polynomials in the following sense: the point-counting/weight (or E-) polynomial of the variety, up to a normalized factor, is the ruling polynomial. This tangle approach in particular provides a generalization and a more natural proof to the previous known results of M.Henry and D.Rutherford. It also leads naturally to a ruling decomposition of this variety, which then induces a spectral sequence converging to the MHS. As some applications, we show that the variety is of Hodge-Tate type, show a vanishing result on its cohomology, and provide an example-computation of the MHSs.</p><p>

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, a form of dementia that worsens over time. With the number of AD patients rising year by year, the total number of patients has already surpassed more than 25 million and this number will grow closer to 63 million by 2030. Symptoms of this disease include memory loss, challenges in problem solving, trouble in understanding visual images or spatial relationships and problems in speaking and writing. Current methods of detection rely on the minimal mental state examination. This is often inaccurate and cannot differentiate between AD and other forms of dementia. The two hallmarks that are responsible for AD are the formation of senile plaques (SPs) and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) in the brain. SPs are formed by the aggregation of insoluble amyloid beta protein and NFTs are formed by aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau protein. In a healthy human brain, these two proteins are produced and broken down to small fragments and eliminated. In AD patients, SPs and NFTs are formed by aggregation of these two proteins.
It is possible to image these SPs and NFTs by techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) or fluorescence imaging which may enable early diagnosis of AD. Although, SP imaging is known, SP deposition does not correlate with the disease and is observed in healthy patients also, hence, a diagnosis of the disease based solely on SPs imaging is likely to be inaccurate. In addition to this, it is difficult to correlate the disease progression with senile plaque quantity in the brain. On the other hand, NFT formation known to correlate with the disease progression, and therefore, fluorescence imaging of such NFTs may reveal the disease progression.
The present study describes a set of compounds able to visualize NFTs and SPs in a human AD brain obtained at autopsy. Several classes of compounds were synthesized and explored for their ability to stain NFTs, of these; rhodanine-3-acetic acids, 5H-imidazo [4,5-c] pyridine derivatives, bis(arylvinyl)pyrazine derivatives were identified as promising compounds for tau imaging. Our observations with these compounds showed us that thesecompounds bind to NFTs in an AD brain, which were clearly visualized by the fluorescence microscopy. In addition to this, selected compounds were tested for their cytotoxicity in hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines and zebrafish embryo development assay. These cytotoxicity studies indicated that these compounds display no or negligible cytotoxicity. Further, in vitro experiments of rhodanine-3-acetic acid derivatives in P30lS mice retina and in vitro experiments in human AD retina resulted in the absence of staining of retinal tissues. Remarkably, control tissues were stained with AT8 antibody. These results suggest that the tau aggregates in the retina of P301S mice are different from human tau deposits present in hyperphosphorylated NFTs. Further, in vitro experiments with 5H-imidazo [4,5-c] pyridine derivatives on olfactory epithelium tissues visualized tau deposits in olfactory epithelium tissues.

Qual a importância da recuperação das memórias de vida dos velhos moradores da cidade para o trabalho com a educação infantil? Analisar as memórias de infância visa responder a estas questões para conhecer o lugar da infância na história da cidade. Visa também descortinar a visão de infância que ao longo da história foi construída pelos moradores e revelar outras histórias de Tanguá que não foram contadas na história oficial. Foram escolhidos como referências teóricas desta dissertação os autores: Walter Benjamim, Ecléa Bosi e William Corsaro. Estes produziram obras que, por caminhos diferentes, valorizaram a narração, o encontro e a relação entre os seres humanos como princípio que permite a compreensão crítica da realidade e da história e a participação na vida social.O primeiro capítulo traz os caminhos que levaram à estruturação desta pesquisa, os objetivos, a apresentação da cidade de Tanguá, a relação da pesquisadora com a cidade, bem como a revisão bibliográfica e a metodologia utilizada. No segundo capítulo estão as relevantes contribuições dos autores, citados acima, para esta dissertação, contribuições estas que foram fundamentais para pensar qual o lugar da infância na cidade de Tanguá ao longo da história e para a compreensão do valor da narrativa no trabalho com crianças na educação infantil. O terceiro capitulo apresenta um breve resumo sobre a história de cada entrevistado e sua relação com a cidade, o trabalho e a vida. O quarto capítulo traz as análises das histórias de vida e as categorias que emergiram das narrativas dos velhos moradores da cidade. No quinto capitulo as memórias são analisadas sob o prisma das possibilidades educativas que estas possuem para as futuras gerações da cidade, especificamente para o trabalho com a Educação Infantil. O capitulo final, parte do que é possível aprender com as histórias de vida e traz recomendações para a valorização da narrativa no trabalho com a educação infantil.<br>A look to the past: Childhood memories in Tanguá aims to study childhood memories of old residents of the city. This dissertation seeks understanding of the following questions: what is the relationship between the city of Tanguá and children throughout your history? What is the importance of rescuing memories of life from the old residents of the city to work with early childhood education? Analyze the childhood memories aims to answer these questions to get to know the place of childhood in the history of the city. It also aims to uncover the vision of childhood that throughout history was built by locals and reveal other Tanguá stories that have not been told in the official story. Were chosen as theoretical references of this dissertation authors: Walter Benjamim, EcléaBosi and William Corsaro. These had produced works that, for different ways, had valued the narration, the meeting and the relation between the human beings as principle that allows to the critical understanding of the reality and history and the participation in the social life. The first chapter brings the ways that had led to the structuring of this research, the objectives, the presentation of the city of Tanguá, the relation of the researcher with the city, as well as the bibliographical revision and the used methodology. In the second chapter are the relevant contributions of the authors, mentioned above, for this dissertation, these contributions were fundamental to think what the place of childhood in the town of Tanguá throughout history and to understand the value of narrative in the work with children in early childhood education. The third chapter presents a brief summary about the history of each respondent and your relationship with the city, work and life. The fourth chapter brings the analysis of life stories and categories that emerged from the narratives from the old residents of the city. In the fifth chapter the memories are parsed on the prism of educational opportunities that they have for future generations of the city, specifically to work with early childhood education. The final chapter, starts from what you can learn of the stories of life and brings recommendations for enhancement of the narrative at work with early childhood education.

No. of bitstreams: 0<br>O propósito desta dissertação é analisar a evolução lexical do lunfardo através de tangos interpretados por Carlos Gardel, no período de 1917-1935. Apesar de argentinos e uruguaios identificarem atualmente o lunfardo como a expressão lingüística que os caracteriza e de vozes e expressões lunfardas se encontrarem presentes nos meios de comunicação de massa e em exponentes da literatura castelhana, esse fenômeno lingüístico continua gerando polêmica na hora de definir e avaliar sua real dimensão dentro da língua espanhola falada na região do Rio da Prata. A partir de uma abordagem sociolingüística, uma definição descritiva do lunfardo não poderia se formular sem diferenciar as fases de sua evolução diacrônica. Este estudo distingue duas fases diferenciadas: a primeira, quando o lunfardo surge nas penitenciárias de Buenos Aires, em 1870, como jargão dos presos; e a segunda, nas primeiras décadas do século XX, quando se transforma em um repertório lexical que passa ao nível coloquial da fala. Nesta segunda fase, destacamos o tango como um dos elementos difusores do lunfardo. Para analisar a relação do tango com este fenômeno lingüístico, elaboramos um corpus com letras de tango do repertório de Carlos Gardel, o maior expoente deste gênero musical. Observamos a interferência da música como veículo de expressão da linguagem popular, colaborando para que o lunfardo passasse de língua de grupo de marginais a linguagem popular de setores menos favorecidos da população, nos arrabales e nos conventillos dos imigrantes, e posteriormente viesse a ser um fenômeno policlassista sem diferenciação de idade, sexo ou atividade profissional. O estudo destaca que certas regularidades encontradas nos aspectos fonológicos, morfológicos, morfofonéticos e sintáticos do lunfardo colaboraram, em parte, para a consolidação da norma da língua

This thesis examines the role of local government elected members to progress urban sustainability, and the views of Māori leaders’ on governance and sustainability. It is set within a wider context of local government reform and changing expectations of governance and captures a point in time in the evolution of Pākehā and Māori governance structures in Aotearoa New Zealand. The thesis contributes to the paucity of scholarship in these fields. Local government has evolved from the early provincial legislatures, to acknowledge Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognise the importance of sustainable development. The Local Government Act 2002 fundamentally changed the role and purpose of New Zealand local government. At the heart of both Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the LGA was the aspiration for community and Māori participation in local governance and progress towards sustainable development. The ‘three-house concept’ described in the Raukawa Trustees partnership-two cultures development model (Winiata 2005) and the Community Sector Taskforce (2006) model is reflected in the structure of this thesis. It provides for a Pākehā House, a Tikanga Māori House and a Treaty House – a conceptual space where Māori and Pākehā values and practices can come together in mutual respect. The Pākehā House of the thesis establishes a broader role for New Zealand elected members to promote urban sustainability by focusing on cross-sector collaboration and multi-level governance. While multi-level governing was found to be widespread across urban territorial authorities, an elected member focus on collaboration was notably absent. Aotearoa New Zealand’s urban local authorities had begun mainstreaming sustainable development practices. Environmental management and restoration activity was widespread. Initiatives progressing social and cultural well-being were gaining prominence. The Tikanga Māori House recognises that the LGA 2002 had failed to bring about transformation of Māori participation in local government. Where the Māori voice struggled to be heard, the Act’s discretionary provisions had tended to preserve the status quo. Two paths to the future are offered: firstly, constitutional change - a new system of local government that recognises the validity of tino rangatiratanga as an equal authority, which could be modeled on the working examples of Treaty-based governance presented in this thesis. Secondly, improvements to the current system of local government are recommended. They are: - Hui and whanaungatanga, as a path to consensus decision-making. - Iwi authorities be recognised as local authorities, to provide opportunities for urban Māori to participate in local government. - The status of iwi management plans be lifted, and they be mandatory in the way that a district plan is mandatory. - The mana whenua relationship be strengthened to increase the capacity of mana whenua to consult with tauiwi in their rohe, and exercise kaitiakitanga and manaakitanga. These improvements need to be based on an effective parallel model of Māori representation, or Māori wards and seats. The Treaty House presents a case for strengthening a partnerships approach to governance. The effective inclusion of both Pākehā and Māori communities alike is identified as a prerequisite for further progress towards urban sustainability in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Diseñador Gráfico<br>Este documento registra el proceso de diseño de una medalla que compita en la International Coin Design Competition organizada por la Japan Mint.
El Objetivo General de este Proyecto consiste en lograr un diseño que permita competir y lograr un puesto destacado en este concurso. El diseño se basará en los elementos artísticos de la cultura Rapanui, más específicamente del personaje del Tangata Manu u Hombre Pájaro. Se buscará una estética que siga los patrones presentes en el tatuaje rapanui, así como de las representaciones que estos hicieron tanto en petroglifos como pinturas rupestres.
Al utilizar la iconografía presente en el lenguaje de las tablillas rongorongo, se pretende apoyar el carácter de misterio que se le quiere otorgar al diseño de la medalla. En lo particular se utilizarán las mismas técnicas utilizadas en cualquier otro proyecto de medallas realizadas en Casa de Moneda de Chile.

COORDENAÇÃO DE APERFEIÇOAMENTO DO PESSOAL DE ENSINO SUPERIOR<br>Vários estudos sobre o comportamento de produtos oriundos da
alteração de rochas devido à ação intempérica já foram
desenvolvidos no país. Esses estudos são de grande
importância para a engenharia geotécnica, principalmente em
locais de clima tropical, quente e úmido, como o Brasil, já
que as condições climáticas possuem uma influência
significativa na formação resultante da rocha. Logo, o
conhecimento detalhado da origem do solo contribui para uma
melhor compreensão do seu comportamento geomecânico.
Este trabalho compreende principalmente um estudo físico-
químicomineralógico e micromorfológico de amostras de solo,
com o propósito de analisar o comportamento das mesmas
devido à ação do intemperismo. Esse material está
localizado no Complexo Alcalino de Tanguá, município de
Tanguá, onde as amostras foram retiradas aleatoriamente,
mas com base em suas características morfológico-tátil-
visuais. Ressalta-se aqui que estudos com esse enfoque
desenvolvidos nesse tipo de solo e/ou rochas de origem
alcalina são raramente encontrados na literatura. Portanto,
a elaboração desse trabalho colabora agregando um
conhecimento prévio, sobre a rocha, a materiais originários
da mesma que apresentam diferentes graus de intemperização,
contribuindo para uma ampliação do conhecimento geral de
solos residuais como um todo. Esse estudo foi realizado
dentro do contexto do projeto PRONEX-Rio, denominado
Geotecnia Aplicada à Avaliação, Prevenção e Remediação de
Problemas Ambientais, em desenvolvimento junto ao Núcleo de
Geotecnia Ambiental do DEC/PUC-Rio na linha de pesquisa
Geotecnia Ambiental do Setor de Geotecnia do DEC/PUC-Rio.<br>The behavior of rock decomposition products has been
studied by many authors throughout the country. These works
have great importance for the geotechnical engineering,
mainly in tropical regions, with hot and rainy climates,
like it is found in Brazil, since atmospheric conditions
have a great influence in the soil formation originated
from the mother rock. Therefore the detailed knowledge of
the soil origin provides a better understanding of its
geomechanical behavior. This work deals with a physical-
chemicalmineralogical and micromorphological study of
arbitrary soil points on the Tanguá alkaline complex, at
the Tanguá Municipality (Rio de Janeiro State,
Brazil). The main subject of the present work is to analyze
effects of weathering on the physical-chemical-
mineralogical and structural characteristics of the
residual soil derived from the alkaline rock found in
Tanguá, as well as on some simple hydro-mechanical
characteristics of the material. It`s important to note
here that works on this type of rock and/or soil are rarely
found in the literature. Thus, this work contributes
towards a better understanding on the behaviour of
residual soils as a whole.This study has been done within
the context of the PRONEX-Rio project named Geotechnics
Applied to the Evaluation, Prevention and Remediation of
Environmental Problems, under development within the
Environmental Geotechnics Group of DEC/PUC-Rio.

La presente tesis comprende el diseño de una máquina desmotadora de algodón, cuya función principal es separar al algodón cosechado proveniente del campo en fibra y semilla para su posterior uso industrial. La máquina desmotadora fue diseñada para procesar al algodón tipo Tangüis, mismo que es sembrado en la costa central y sur del Perú.
La máquina desmotadora ocupa un espacio aproximado de 1.90m de largo por 1.30m de ancho y una altura de 1.60m, provista de guardas de seguridad para las zonas donde existen poleas o engranajes de transmisión de potencia. La energía suministrada es por medio de un motor eléctrico de 30HP. La máquina tiene una capacidad de desmotado de 350Kg de fibra desmotada por cada hora de trabajo.
El algodón ingresa a la máquina a través de una tolva que alimenta al sistema de desmotado. El desmotado del algodón es realizado mediante un mecanismo conocido como sistema de sierras y costillas. Finalmente la recolección de los productos de salida es realizada en dos depósitos, uno para fibra y otro para semilla.
En la primera parte de la presente tesis se describe las características del algodón, el proceso de obtención de la fibra de algodón y las cualidades requeridas para su posterior uso. Finalmente se presenta el análisis de la actividad algodonera en el país para comprender la necesidad del diseño propuesto en la presente tesis.
El trabajo propio de diseño, se realizó aplicando la metodología utilizada en los cursos de “Diseño Mecánico 1 y 2” de la especialidad de Ingeniería Mecánica de la Pontifica Universidad Católica Del Perú y considerando la información presentada en el primer capítulo. La memoria de diseño es acompañada de los planos de ensamble y fabricación.
Finalmente, se realizó el análisis económico de la fabricación y montaje de la máquina en base a cotizaciones realizadas por empresas metal mecánicas de nuestro medio, llegando a un costo total menor que el costo de una máquina similar ofrecida en el mercado, lo que completa y hace que la presente tesis sea una propuesta válida para la solución de la necesidad a cubrir.

L'objet de cette thèse est de présenter un ensemble de contribution à l'optimisation et à l'analyse non linéaire. En premier lieu, dans le but d'étudier des problèmes de programmation mathématique vectorielle, on a abordé l'étude d'une famille de cônes tangents à des multi-applications. Ceci nous a amené à introduire et à étudier les propriétés générales d'un cône appelé cône quasi-intérieurement e-tangent. Avec l'aide de cette famille de cônes on a défini une notion de dérivée généralisée et une notion de sous-différentiel pour des fonctions à valeurs vectorielles et on a établi des règles de calcul. De même on a étudié les propriétés supplémentaires qu'on peut obtenir pour des fonctions à valeurs réelles et on a donné des applications de ces résultats à des problèmes de programmation mathématique et de contrôle optimal. Un deuxième axe de recherche a été l'analyse proximale. On a considéré à la suite de J. S. Treiman la représentation proximale du cône -normal à un ensemble. Cela nous a d'abord amené à établir une autre formulation plus simple du cône -tangent. En dernier lieu, on a étudié la non-vacuité et la compacité de l'ensemble des multiplicateurs pour un problème de programmation mathématique de Pareto non régulier.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is characterized by the presence of two specific structures in brain of patients: senile plaques (SP) and neurofibrillary tangles (NTFs). Oligomers of beta amyloid protein are the main component of SP, while NFTs are constituted by oligomers of hyperphosphorylated tau protein. The aim of this thesis is to present two studies concerning the process of diffusion and agglomeration of tau protein first into fibrils and eventually up to neurofibrillary tangles. The aforesaid researches share the use of Smoluchowski-type equations (including diffusion and monomers production) on a finite weighted graph, which is conceived as a theoretical approximation of the human brain, where each vertex represents a cerebral area of interest, while the connections between them are described by the edges. In the first chapter, we present a model for the aggregation and diffusion of hyperphosphorylated tau based on a finite dimensional Smoluchowski-type system on a finite graph, aimed at reproducing tau patterns obtained through suitable in vivo measurements. In such model, clusters whose length exceeds an a priori established critical threshold are defined to be tangles. Statistical analysis is performed, comparing the model-predicted tau concentrations (in monomeric, oligomeric form and in tangles) with cortical atrophy data and tau measurements in AD patients provided by in vivo neuroimaging. The second research considers the process of aggregation in tangles of hyperphosphorylated tau protein as a result of a coagulation process of this protein. The formation of neurofibrillary tangles is mathematically characterized in terms of a sol-gel phase transition for a polymerization problem, modelled by means of infinite dimensional Smoluchowski-type system on a finite graph. The process of formation of gel is a suitable tool for the description of the formation of neurofibrillary tangles, since it allows one to provide insights on the nature of this phenomenon in AD scenario.

de Saúde (SUS), num modelo pensado para concentrar a atenção na família e comunidade, como sujeitos do processo saúde-doença, visando à vigilância em saúde. Esta dissertação consiste em um estudo com base numa abordagem qualitativa, utilizando como princípio metodológico o estudo de caso, discute a implantação do Programa de Saúde da Família (PSF) do Município de Tanguá, no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, um município de pequeno porte com 28.325 habitantes, localizado na região metropolitana II do Estado. De fato, ora o PSF e entendido e implementado como um programa focalizado, ora como uma estratégia de mudança na organização da rede básica visando à universalização do acesso da população a
esses serviços, ou ainda, como uma estratégia de mudança do modelo de atenção á saúde baseada na integralidade do cuidado. Considerando a importância de se aprofundar o debate sobre o tema, esse estudo tem por objetivo identificar a
realidade da implantação do PSF no Município, suas dificuldades e o que isso acarretou na vida da população residente. Buscou-se evidenciar as potencialidades e as dificuldades no processo de implementação da Estratégia de Saúde da Família.<br>This study is a piece of a reflection about of reorganization of the care model proposes, regarding the Family Health Strategy. This work consist in a study funded on a qualitative approach, using the principle the case study as a methodology, discuss the implementation of The Family Health Program (FHP) in Tanguá, Rio de Janeiro/ Brazil. A small district with 28.325 inhabitants, in the metropolitan region of the state. In fact, sometimes the FHP is
understood and implemented as a program focused, sometimes as a strategy of change in the primary health care organization aiming the universalization of population access to these services or also with a strategy of change on health care model with bases on integrality of care. Regarding the importance of go deeper in the debate about this subject, this study aims identify the reality of FHP implementation in Tanguá, its difficulties and the result in inhabitants life. It tried to show the
potentialities and the difficulties on implementation process of the Family Health Strategy.

Perineuronale Netze (PN) sind eine spezialisierte Form der neuronalen extrazellulären Matrix. Es wird vermutet, dass sie neuroprotektive Eigenschaften besitzen und die von ihnen umschlossenen Neurone gegenüber Degeneration schützen. Mehrere Studien untersuchten bereits die PN in Zusammenhang mit der Pathologie der Alzheimer-Erkrankung. Für die Frontotemporalen Demenzen, die nach der Alzheimer-Erkrankung und der vaskulären Demenz zu den häufigsten dementiellen Erkrankungen gehören, ist die Beziehung von PN und Tau-Protein (TP)-Pathologie noch nicht untersucht worden.
Die Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit der Korrelation von netztragenden Neuronen mit TP-Pathologie in einem Mausmodel der Frontotemporalen Demenz mit Parkinsonismus des Chromosoms 17 (FTDP-17). Sie geht der Frage nach, ob netztragende Neuronen vor Degeneration und intrazellulären Ablagerungen von verändertem TP, in Form von Hyperphosphorylierungen (HP) und Neurofibrillären Tangles (NFT), geschützt sind. Mit Hilfe immunhistochemischer Fluoreszenzmarkierung und Western Blot wurden die Gehirne transgener Mäuse mit der P301L-Mutation des TP im Alter von drei und achteinhalb Monaten untersucht. Dabei wurden sechs Hirnregionen ausgewählt: Primärer Somatosensorischer Kortex (PSC), Entorhinaler Kortex (EC), Hippokampus (Hipp), Pars magnocellularis des Nucleus ruber (NR-m), Pars reticulata der Substantia nigra (SN-r) und Motorischer Trigeminuskern (Mo5).
Die Untersuchungen zeigen, dass die PN bei der FTDP-17 die Neurone nicht explizit vor TP-Pathologie schützen. Jedoch kommt es zu keiner signifikanten Reduktion der netztragenden Zellen im Altersgang, sodass eine neuroprotektive Funktion der PN weiterhin vermutet werden kann.

Les résultats obtenus peuvent être vus comme une extension du théorème d'Attouch aux fonctions non nécessairement convexes sur des espaces de Banach localement uniformément convexes. 2) Pour une bornologie β donnée sur un espace de Banach X, on étudie la validité de la formule suivante (…). Ici Tβ(C; x) et Tc(C; x) désignent le β -cône tangent et le cône tangent de Clarke à C en x. On montre que si, X x X est ∂β-« trusted » alors cette formule est valable pour tout ensemble fermé non vide C ⊂ X et x ∈ C. It is well known that in a smooth reflexive Banach space with the Kadec-Klee property every weakly closed Chebyshev subset is convex. Alzheimer's disease and senile dementia of the Alzheimer type (Alzheimer-type dementia, ATD) are progressive dementing illnesses characterised histopathologically by the presence of neurofibrillary tangles and plaques. Ultrastructurally tangles are composed of paired helical filaments (PHF) (Kidd, 1963) of unknown origin. The purpose of this study was to investigate the biochemical and biophysical properties of tangles, and their constituent PHF. Investigation of tangle solubility by quantitative light microscopy of brain homogenates showed that a proportion of tangles, which varied between brains (ATD and Down's Syndrome with ATD pathology) were soluble in sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) and NaOH. Tangle solubility in 1&37 SDS was inversely related to duration of dementia suggesting that patients with a long standing illness have more fragile tangles. Ultrastructural studies were carried out on tangle enriched fractions prepared by ultracentrifugation of supernatants from SDS treated brain homogenates and by sucrose density gradient centrifugation of brain homogenates not treated with SDS. PHF in the former preparation were found to be longer with lengthened pitches compared to PHF in the latter preparation. PHF from another SDS treated preparation which was repeatedly freeze thawed (up to 25<SUP>o</SUP>C) were observed to lose their their helical configuration. These electronmicroscopic observations suggest that the helical substructure of PHF can be subject to conformational change, whilst filament structure is retained. Preparation of tangle enriched fractions from ATD brains was investigated using Percoll, sucrose gradient centrifugation and fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS). Percoll proved unsatisfactory; and sucrose gradient centrifugation was used to prepare fractions enriched in tangles from ATD brains, and control fractions prepared in the same way, from control brains. Tangle preparation using FACS was a new technique, whereby tangles labelled with the fluorescent dye, congo red, could be sorted from ATD brain homogenate. Partially purified tangle preparations were investigated using spectroscopy. The resulting spectra showed features consistent with an increase in β sheet in the tangle enriched versus the control fraction.

Michael et une méthode itérative, on obtient un théorème de submersion avec paramètre pour une classe de fonctions multivoques qui nous permet d'établir deux théorèmes conduisant à la détermination explicite du cône tangent en un point à une partie d'un espace de Banach définie par des égalités et des inégalités. Le premier théorème donne des conditions nécessaires et des conditions suffisantes d'ordre 1 et le deuxième théorème donne des conditions nécessaires et des conditions suffisantes d'ordre 2 pour qu'un vecteur soit tangent en ce point à cette partie. Ces techniques sont appliquées à l'étude d'un problème d'optimisation dépendant d'un paramètre. On démontre un théorème qui nous permet d'obtenir des renseignements sur la variation de l'ensemble des points critiques et donc aussi sur la variation de l'ensemble des solutions dans des cas ou ni l'ensemble des solutions, ni l'ensemble des multiplicateurs associés à une solution, n'est réduit à un point unique même formé de points isolés.

Au croisement de la philosophie et des études théâtrales, cette thèse présente un double objectif. Montrer en quoi une réflexion sur le théâtre permet de prolonger et de renouveler des problématiques d’esthétique générale portant sur le statut ontologique de l’art, d’un côté. Proposer une interprétation de l’expérience esthétique des scènes théâtrales, d’un autre côté. Nous nous intéressons aux conditions d’expérience de la scène et à ses effets sur notre existence à partir de l’analyse des démarches artistiques de Stanislas Nordey, Claude Régy et François Tanguy, ainsi que d’un metteur en scène émergent, Simon Gauchet. Notre approche méthodologique articule les apports des phénoménologies de la perception (Merleau-Ponty) et de l’événement (Claude Romano) avec ceux du pragmatisme anglo-américain (John Dewey, Richard Shusterman, Stanley Cavell) ou d’inspiration angloaméricaine (Marielle Macé, Sandra Laugier). Le théâtre participe à des processus d’individualisation que nous pouvons comprendre comme des éléments de stylisation pour nos existences. Il a également une force éthique en ce qu’il contribue chez les individus au développement des dispositions du care. Ainsi, le théâtre peut-il être défini comme un art de l’existence<br>The purpose of this dissertation, at the crossroad of philosophy and theatre studies, is twofold. On one hand, the dissertation aims to point out how a study of theatre helps extend and renew problems of aesthetics concerning the ontological status of art. On the other hand, this work tries to suggest an interpretation of the aesthetic experience of theatrical stages. We are looking into in the experimental conditions of the stage and its effects on our existence, based on the analysis of the artistic approaches of Stanislas Nordey, Claude Régy and François Tanguy, along with a rising director, Simon Gauchet. Our methodological approach combines the contributions of the phenomenologies of perception (Merleau-Ponty) and of event (Claude Romano) with those of the Anglo-American pragmatism (John Dewey, Richard Shusterman, Stanley Cavell) as well as a pragmatism motivated by the Anglo-American tradition (Marielle Macé, Sandra Laugier). Theatre participates to individualization processes which can be interpreted as elements of stylization of our life. It also yields an ethical power by helping individuals to develop care skills. There is an urgent need for the development of new therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's disease (AD). The dual-specificity tyrosine phosphorylation-regulated kinase-1A (Dyrk1a) is a protein kinase that phosphorylates the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and tau and thus represents a link between two key proteins involved in AD pathogenesis. Furthermore, Dyrk1a is upregulated in postmortem human brains, and high levels of Dyrk1a are associated with mental retardation. Here, we sought to determine the effects of Dyrk1 inhibition on AD-like pathology developed by 3xTg-AD mice, a widely used animal model of AD. We dosed 10-month-old 3xTg-AD and nontransgenic (NonTg) mice with a Dyrk1 inhibitor (Dyrk1-inh) or vehicle for eight weeks. During the last three weeks of treatment, we tested the mice in a battery of behavioral tests. The brains were then analyzed for the pathological markers of AD. We found that chronic Dyrk1 inhibition reversed cognitive deficits in 3xTg-AD mice. These effects were associated with a reduction in amyloid-beta (Ab) and tau pathology. Mechanistically, Dyrk1 inhibition reduced APP and insoluble tau phosphorylation. The reduction in APP phosphorylation increased its turnover and decreased Ab levels. These results suggest that targeting Dyrk1 could represent a new viable therapeutic approach for AD.
