In this paper different approaches for digital video recording in vehicles are examined, with weight on video quality. Different video compression algorithms were gone through and the conclusion was that inter-frame compression, like MPEG video delivers better video quality than intra-frame algorithms, for example Wavelet. The main drawback is that it is difficult to extract single frames, which leads to difficulties when for example backwards-playability is needed. To demonstrate how digital video recording can be done a demonstrator was built. Therefore, when the decision to use MPEG compression was made, a market research was done and a video grabber expansion card for PCs was bought. The report describes the hardware and software developments that had to be made to run the video recorder.
The result of the thesis was this report and a functioning recorder. The delivered video quality was fair and it was also remote controlled.

Standard video cassette recorders (VCR’s) are relatively inexpensive, small, and capable of recording large quantities of data for hours. The problem with using VCR’s to record pulse code modulated (PCM) digital data is that glitches are recorded in the serial data stream coincident with the video sync pulses. This problem can be solved by formating the PCM data stream and synchronizing the video sync pulses to the PCM data.

The F-35 program, known as the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), is the largest DOD program ever awarded. There are three F-35 variations, each intended to meet the specific needs of the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and Allies. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter represents the newest advanced military aircraft to make use of Fibre Channel as its primary avionics information transport network. In addition to its use for carrying tactical information systems data, the Fibre Channel network will also transport the real-time digital video used in the cockpit; primarily the pilot's helmet mounted display (HMD) and the high-resolution configurable panoramic cockpit display (PCD). In addition to the fighter's instrumentation configuration for orange wire and avionics data, the aircraft will carry a separate instrumentation package to allow for both the recording and telemetry of either high-resolution Fibre Channel digital video or standard resolution analog video inputs during flight tests. This multiplexer is designed to record cockpit video and audio data, while supporting an option for the test engineer to select up to three out of eight video and audio inputs for real-time telemetry to the ground. This paper describes the architecture of this system, along with the techniques used to reduce the 5 MBps Fibre Channel digital video to a bandwidth acceptable for telemetry.

Bakgrund.

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to compare the airway protection mechanism during the swallowing in children with cerebral palsy (CP), in two standard postures. The videofluoroscopy evaluation of swallowing was carried out in 18 children from two to 13 years old, from both genders, carriers of specific cerebral palsy conditions: spastic tetraparetic CP, atetosic CP or mixed who are usually fed in cervical hyperextension position. They were offered 3 and 5ml of two opaque food textures: thin paste food and liquid, and also free swallowing in seated position at 90º and cervical hyperextension. The analyses of aspiration and penetration events were conducted following an 8 level-scale (Penetration-Aspiration Scale), according to Rosenbek et. al. (1996), defined by the deepness that the material reaches across the airway and whether the material that enters is expelled or not. The cervical hyperextension was not an efficient compensation and that the swallowing process in this position was as favorable to the traqueal aspiration, as the swallowing process with positioning at 90º. With positioning in cervical hyperextension the children swallowed the smaller volume (3ml), in the liquid texture, with more safety to the airway, compared to the 5ml swallowing and the free swallowing of the same texture and positioning. There were not statistically significant differences between the children swallowing seated at 90º position and in cervical hyperextension; the same occurred with the tested food textures. Ultimately, could be also observed that the children¿s age did not present correlation with the answers obtained with any of the remained variables

This thesis describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of EduCase: an inexpensive automated lecture video recording, post-processing, and viewing system. The EduCase recording system consists of three devices, one per lecture hall board. Each recording device records color, depth, skeletal, and audio inputs. The Post-Processor automatically processes the recordings to produce an output file usable by the Viewer, which provides a more dynamic student experience than traditional video playback systems. In particular, it allows students to flip back to view a previous board while the lecture continues to play in the background. It also allows students to toggle the professor's visibility in and out to see the board they might be blocking. The system was successfully evaluated in blackboard-heavy lectures at MIT and Harvard. We hope that EduCase will be the quickest, most inexpensive, and student-friendly lecture capture system, and contribute to our overarching goal of education for all.

Active safety systems for automobiles in the form of camera systems have evolved rapidly the last ten years, Autoliv Electronics in Linköping develops multiple such systems. In their development process there is a need for a Break out Box (BoB) to record and playback video and CAN data as if the camera system was used in an actual automobile. The aim of this thesis has been to develop a BoB for these camera systems. The work has been divided into three phases; identification of requirements, design of the BoB and implementation of a prototype. The project has addressed four known issues with the currently used BoB; bandwidth, modularity, synchronization and usability. The result is a new BoB which is based on an FPGA connecting to a PC over Gigabit Ethernet. The design is an extendible platform for multiple channels of video, CAN data, other serial data and future extensions. A prototype proves the design concept by successfully recording video for the Autoliv NightVision system onto a PC.

Photogrammetry is a low cost and simple objective instrument of evaluation, that provides accurate and reproducible results of easy understanding, being very used nowadays. Nevertheless, the protocols of photogrammetry evaluation do not have a standard to be followed, making it difficult to obtain a standard of evaluation regarding some aspects, for example, the feet positioning, that also lack information about the behavior of variables associated with this type of evaluation for a certain period of time. This dissertation was divided in two studies: Study 1: executed a systematic review with the objective of investigate the feet positioning used to hold the semi-static postural assessment through photogrammetry. This study is a systematic review of observational studies and randomized clinical trials that followed recommendations of the Cochrane Collaboration. With the keywords "photogrammetry" and "spinal postural evaluation", a survey was conducted in the following databases: PubMed, Science, Scopus, Embase and Bireme. 40 studies were included after a scrutiny of eligibility criteria, the main feet positioning found were: self-referred, separated in parallel, united in parallel and standardized self-referred position. Only three studies were graded as low methodological quality. As there was no comparison of results of the included studies in different feet positioning, it is necessary that studies that utilize this type of analysis are developed and it is also deemed important that the specific determinations of each analysis protocol are respected. Study 2: The purpose of this study was to determine (1) the intra-rater reproducibility of different feet positioning, (2) the classification of postural variables in stationary / non-stationary and ergodic / nonergodic, (3) if there is a feet positioning with less postural variability, and (4) whether there is a more comfortable feet positioning for the semi-static posture evaluation using photogrammetry. The sample consisted of 24 adults of both genresas they were submitted totwo stages of postural assessment through photogrammetry, where they were filmed for 35 seconds on four feet positions: self-referred (AR), separated in parallel (PS), parallel and united (PU) and standardized self-referred (ARP). At the end of each assessment, the individual pointed the subjective feeling of discomfort in na analogical scale. After the evaluation, each film was divided into seven photographs, which were scanned in the software Digital Image-based Postural Assessment (DIPA). In the statistical analysis, the following tests were used: intra class correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable error (MDC) and mean absolute differences (MAD) to the intra-rater reproducibility; Repeated measures ANOVA to test the stationarity and one-way ANOVA to test the ergodicity of postural variables; Coefficient of Variation (CV) and one-way ANOVA for analysis of postural variability in different feet positioning; and one-way ANOVA to determine differences between the subjective sensation of discomfort in the feet positioning. Irrespective of feet positioning, the reproducibility of variables it was classified as excellent. Of twelve variables, five were classified as stationary and ergodic in all feet positioning, four had dependent classifications of foot positioning and three were classified as non-stationary. The postural variability, the results were similar in all feet position, it is not possible to identify the position that has the lowest variability. The AR position was the one that had less subjective feeling of discomfort. It was concluded that most variables have stationary characteristics, that feet position does not interfere with results.
