Esta investigação pretende olhar para a história da metafísica ocidental como narrativa central do projeto moderno, já que se associa ao desenvolvimento da vontade de verdade como valor preponderante à suposta superioridade epistêmica do ocidente e ao suposto direito de conceber partes do mundo como recursos. A metafísica ocidental é assim a base não apenas para a prática de convívio ocidental no mundo, mas também para a técnica e para a ciência acoplada a ela. A investigação pretende explorar a ideia de que alguns importantes elos entre a metafísica ocidental e a história (e o destino) da modernidade podem ser aclarados por uma leitura paralela da crítica ao ontologismo que Emmanuel Levinas e Jacques Derrida promovem e da literatura pós-colonial que diagnostica as consequências do domínio ocidental do mundo. O ontologismo é entendido como a tese da prepoderância e da suficiência do ser, tal como Levinas articulou em grande medida em contraste com Martin Heidegger e seu diagnóstico acerca da era da história do ser em que as coisas vão ficando progressivamente e indiscriminadamente postas à disposição (mas não à disposição de nenhum ente em particular).Assim, o exercício de pesquisa aqui apenas iniciado não pretende representar o “outro”, nem busca dar-lhe legitimidade, mas tão somente dar a ver o outro no mesmo, ao modo levinasiano, bem como inquirir, por meio da apresentação de ditas oposições, a cena da produção de pensamento na época do niilismo, ou seja, na época da extração de toda e qualquer inteligibilidade, e não somente humana.

Partindo de uma leitura reversa do texto “Pode o subalterno falar?”, este ensaio busca recuperar e torcer os argumentos de Spivak para encontrar os fundamentos de um pensamento pós-colonial como medida de precaução e como treino imaginativo. A intenção é apresentar a necessidade de pensar o pensamento, o lugar em que, seguindo a Derrida, Spivak argumenta localizar-se o colonialismo-em-branco do pensamento europeu. Por fim, aproximaremos o problema de Spivak com as intenções do ontologismo antropológico, mostrando de que forma uma exploração ontológica na Antropologia depende de uma crítica epistemológica. Pretendemos, com isso, recolocar a vigência da teoria pós-colonial de Spivak para a antropologia, atualizando seus termos e seguindo seus argumentos.

Desde su inicial estadía en Friburgo (1928-1929), las reflexiones levinasianas permanecieron cautivadas por la “hermenéutica existencial” y la fascinación ejercida sobre los jóvenes discípulos por el nuevo profeta de la fenomenología: Martin Heidegger. A comienzos de los años treinta, Levinas mantuvo su fidelidad a la nueva orientación frente a las acusaciones lanzadas por sus adversarios contra los ambiguos compromisos filosófico-políticos de la fenomenología alemana derivados de un presunto “misticismo de lo concreto”. Sin embargo, tras el ascenso del nazismo al poder y la adhesión de Heidegger al nuevo régimen, su inicial fascinación por aquella corriente, con su nuevo ideal de vida, casi una nueva “religión”, derivó en una revisión crítica del “campo magnético” del ontologismo heideggeriano. El objetivo del presente artículo será determinar el modo en que Levinas interpreta la nueva “patética” de la “hermenéutica existencial” y, con ello, la afinidad electiva de Heidegger con la “religión política” y “filosofía del hitlerismo”.

Sartre hævdede, at mennesket er ”fordømt til frihed”. I deneksistentialistiske tradition og diskurs opfattes frihed – og angsten,der ledsager den – ofte som det centrale ontologiske karakteristikum.Formålet med denne artikel er imidlertid igennemfænomenet skyld at udfordre frihedens primat i den eksistentiellediskurs ved at vise dens etisk-eksistentielle grænser.Under anvendelse af skønlitterært materiale fra Fjodor Dostojevskijsforfatterskab samt kvalitative interviews fra et igangværendeforskningsprojekt, der omhandler unges oplevelser afdårlig samvittighed, argumenterer jeg for, at der forud formenneskets refleksive og autonome forhold til sig selv eksistereren prærefleksiv bundethed, som den enkelte ikke selv ersuveræn herre over. På denne baggrund bestemmes skyld somet ontologisk karakteristikum, der henviser mennesket til fundamentalegrænser (grundvilkår) i form af den Anden, endelighed,men også frihed. Disse grænser, argumenterer jeg for, kanikke isoleres fra menneskets etisk-eksistentielle liv, men dannergrundlag for en ontologisk etik. Det betyder, at spørgsmål, derangår det menneskelige vilkår (ontologi), er uløseligt forbundettil spørgsmål om, hvordan mennesket bør leve og forholdesig (etik). Afslutningsvist forsøger jeg at vise, hvordan de eksistentialegrænser kan anvendes til at forstå baggrunden for denstigende psykiske mistrivsel i det senmoderne samfund.

AbstractOntologising is the task of associating terms, in text, with an ontological representation of their meaning, in an ontology. In this article, we revisit algorithms that have previously been used to ontologise the arguments of semantic relations in a relationless thesaurus, resulting in a wordnet. For increased flexibility, the algorithms do not use the extraction context when selecting the most adequate synsets for each term argument. Instead, they exploit a term-based lexical network which can be established by knowledge extracted automatically, or obtained from the resource the relations are being ontologised to. On the latter idea, we made several experiments to conclude that the algorithms can be used both for wordnet creation and for their enrichment. Besides describing the algorithms with some detail, the aforementioned experiments, which target both English and Portuguese, and their results are reported and discussed.

The Alexius Meinong's Theory of Objects is undoubtedly one of the most interesting, but also one of the most contested ontological theories. The main intent of the Austrian philosopher was to introduce an entirely new philosophical discipline which in comparison to traditional sciences is not conditioned by what he called the prejudice in favor of the reality (actual, existing being). Since we are naturally oriented towards the real, to investigate something, to attribute certain qualities to it, we must suppose that that something exists. The non-real is - according to this conception - a mere nothing, non-existing. Hence the need for a more encompassing theory of objects as such and objects in their totality, not as an overall science of specific sciences, but as an a priori science in its utmost generality and exstension. According to Meinong's own words, the Theory of Objects includes, by its apriority, objects of mathematics, but at the same time is more general than metaphysics, since the latter considers only the totality of the existing or real: its catalogue comprises the totality of objects of a much less exstension than the one giving a totality of the objects of knowledge. The first part of the paper presents a short introduction to the character and work of the Austrian thinker with a review of the Theory of Objects and the famous debate with Bertrand Russell. In the second part, the neomeinongian discussion between the main two currents - eliminativism and realism, is presented.

O presente trabalho pretende apresentar uma interpretação retórica sobre aspectos proeminentes de dois horizontes das idéias jurídicas: o paradigma teórico que caracterizou o juspositivismo até meados do século XX e o cenário recente da teoria do direito. Ante o primeiro horizonte, damos enfoque ao ideal científico e à distinção entre produzir e aplicar o direito. Refletimos, por um lado, que a busca de cientificidade do direito floresceu como um projeto retórico. Ademais, apontamos que o argumento que vincula a ascensão do nazismo ao formalismo jurídico oriundo do ideal científico é mais um artifício retórico do que um relato pertinente do juspositivismo. Por outro lado, a respeito da distinção entre criar e aplicar o direito, consideramos que é ligada, no âmbito do juspositivismo, à pretensão de segurança jurídica que floresceu no liberalismo clássico. Examinamos, entretanto, que tal distinção minimiza o espaço da retórica na argumentação judicial. Já em relação à teoria jurídica recente, criticamos o uso do termo “pós-positivismo” e damos enfoque ao ontologismo axiológico e à indeterminação do direito. Analisamos que o entendimento de que um valor acolhido pelo direito é uma verdade ética pode ser problemático diante do ideal democrático de abertura ao dissenso, pois o ontologismo axiológico pode reduzir possibilidades da retórica no plano dos discursos opostos à “verdade”. Por outro lado, observamos que a ênfase na indeterminação do direito ampliou a visibilidade da retórica na argumentação judicial.

Resumo:

This essay is a study that takes interest in technical and technological change essential to philosophy of science. What is shown is the importance of an active attitude towards this change, by the articulation of the question: Does technical development lead to new ontological questions for science? - and by the answer that such questions do appear.

It is clear that passive assumptions in this matter might prohibit science in the proceeding search for truth.

By examples of ways in which technical development helps and challenges science, it is concluded that scrutiny of the relationship between technical development and ontological suppositions and hypotheses within science is well motivated.


Denna uppsats är en studie vilken intresserar sig för teknisk och teknologisk förändring essentiell för vetenskapsfilosofi. Det som påvisas är betydelsen av ett aktivt förhållningssätt till denna förändring, genom formuleringen av frågan: Leder teknisk utveckling till nya ontologiska frågor för vetenskapen? - och genom svaret att sådana frågor uppstår.

Det framgår att passiva antaganden angående detta kan förhindra vetenskapen i det fortskridande sanningssökandet.

Genom exempel på sätt som teknisk utveckling hjälper och utmanar vetenskapen, framträder slutsatsen att granskning av förhållandet mellan teknisk utveckling och de ontologiska antagandena och hypoteserna inom vetenskapen är väl motiverad.

Nel Luglio del 2007 il Prof. Stephen Minger, direttore dello Stem Cell Biology Laboratory del King's College di Londra, richiese alla HFEA l'autorizzazione per creare i cibridi (embrioni ibridi citoplasmatici), ossia embrioni prodotti per mezzo della SCNT (Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer), attraverso la quale un ovulo ovino o bovino viene svuotato del suo nucleo, al posto del quale viene inserito il nucleo di una cellula del tessuto epiteliale di una persona affetta da una malattia genetica (Alzheimer o Parkinson, ad esempio). Il fine dichiarato era quello di studiare la genesi di tali malattie e creare cure personalizzate. Gli embrioni misti uomo-animale sollevano non pochi problemi con riguardo alla loro qualificazione. Non è scientificamente certo, infatti, se essi siano embrioni umani geneticamente modificati o embrioni non umani dalla identità genetica incerta. Se si propende per attribuirgli lo statuto ontologico degli embrioni umani, le questioni etiche che si prospettano sono quelle relative alla legittimità della sperimentazione su di essi e della loro creazione ai soli fini di ricerca. Se, infatti, all'embrione umano viene attribuito lo statuto ontologico e giuridico di persona, dovrà essere considerato titolare dei diritti fondamentali ad essa riconosciuti e, conseguentemente, non potrà essere creato e manipolato ai soli fini di ricerca. Questa è la scelta compiuta a livello comunitario dalla Convenzione di Oviedo del 1997 e a livello nazionale da Italia e Spagna (che hanno espressamente vietato la creazione di cibridi), nonché da Austria e Germania. La Gran Bretagna, invece, pur attribuendo ai cibridi lo statuto ontologico di essere umano, non attribuiscono quello giuridico di persona, di talché è ammessa la loro creazione, seppur con determinati limiti. Se gli embrioni ibridi citoplasmatici si qualificano, invece, come embrioni non umani dalla identità genetica incerta, si pongono le questioni relative alla integrità della specie umana e al rispetto della sua dignità, violate dalla mescolanza tra DNA umano e animale. Lo statuto giuridico da attribuire ai cibridi dovrà, pertanto, tener conto di quel generico dovere di rispetto in considerazione della parte di umanità in essi presente, quindi, di quella parte di natura umana (in senso biologico e non ontologico) che li rende diversi da meri oggetti.

Rupert Smith (2006) menar att det har skett ett paradigmskifte inom krigföringen. Från ett industriellt krig till ett krig "amongst the People". De moderna konflikterna vi ser idag i Irak och Afghanistan går i linje med hans resonemang. Motståndaren är inte längre en annan nationalstat, utan en icke-statlig aktör som inte uppträder på ett militärt traditionellt sätt. Numera är andra entiteter än plattformar viktiga, till exempel klanstrukturer eller kultur. Utifrån detta måste vi då ställa oss frågan om världen har förändrats, eller åtminstone om den militära verkligen har gjort det och hur militären har uppfattar denna förändring. Studien tar sin utgångspunkt i en diskursanalys av militär verklighet och ställer sig frågan hur verkligheten konstrueras utifrån detta paradigmskifte. Genom att skapa ett militärfilosofiskt begrepp, undersöks om det finns en ontologisk medvetenhet inom denna diskurs. Studiens resultat visar på att verklighet konstrueras utifrån nationalstatens ontologi och epistemologi. Begrepp, kategorier och metaforer från det industriella kriget används i hög grad för att konstruera verklighet genom att dessa flyttas till nya områden, där nya "slagsfält" skapas.
Rupert Smith (2006) argues that there has been a paradigm shift in warfare, from the industrial war - into a "war amongst the people". Modern conflicts today in Iraq and Afghanistan might be understood as examples of this kind of warfare. The opponent is no longer a different nation-state, but a non-state actor who is not behaving in a traditional military way. Hence, nowadays other entities than platforms are important, for example, clan structures and culture. From this, we must then ask ourselves whether the world has changed, or at least if the military reality has changed and how military has understood (comprehended) this change. The study is based on a discourse analysis of military reality and the question is how reality is constructed based on this paradigm shift. By creating a military-philosophical concept the study will examine whether there is an ontological awareness within the military discourse. The result shows that the reality is constructed from the nation state ontology and epistemology. Concepts, categories and metaphors from the industrial war are heavily used in the construction of reality and those are moved to new areas where new "battlefields" are created.

La ricerca si propone, attraverso una lettura ermeneutica storico-teoretica della quasi totalità dei testi anselmiani, di far emergere quale sia la concezione antropologica dell’autore e all’interno di quali linee teoriche possa essere ricondotta. Emergerà come innegabile il riferimento all’impianto antropologico e teologico agostiniano ma sarà altrettanto evidente come Anselmo si ponga in parziale discontinuità con questo nucleo fondativo proponendo notevoli elementi di novità. Lo studio si snoda su cinque capitoli che rispondono al tentativo di mostrare come - pur non potendo prescindere dal fondamento di Dio da cui tutto procede, per poi passare attraverso l’icona del Cristo e della sua incarnazione, fino ad arrivare all’uomo ed essere nuovamente condotti in ultima istanza a Dio – l’impianto anselmiano proponga significativi aspetti di discontinuità con il paradigma di riferimento. Nella parte conclusiva, attraverso una ripresa del Proslogion, si è mostrato come alla luce del percorso compiuto anche l’id quo maius acquisti un significato e una valenza ancor più ricca soprattutto per i suoi riflessi sul versante antropologico che possono suggerire stimoli assai interessanti anche per l’uomo contemporaneo.
The aim of this study is to analyze Anselmo's scriptures, his literary references and anthropological conception through an hermeneutic historical-theoretic approach. The analysis shows an anthropological and theological connection with Agostino's inheritance but, at the same time, it is possible to evidence that Anselmo introduces new elements of reflection. My research is based on five chapters that try to demonstrate the distinctive feature of Anselmo anthropological conception starting from his main philosophical/theological subjects such the foundation of God, the proceeds of everything from Him, the figure of Christ, his incarnation and the human being. In conclusion, the id quo maius acquired an important and renewed meaning -through the anthropological interpretation done - not only for the historical research but for the contemporary man too.

The aim of this study is to analyze Anselmo's scriptures, his literary references and anthropological conception through an hermeneutic historical-theoretic approach. The analysis shows an anthropological and theological connection with Agostino's inheritance but, at the same time, it is possible to evidence that Anselmo introduces new elements of reflection. My research is based on five chapters that try to demonstrate the distinctive feature of Anselmo anthropological conception starting from his main philosophical/theological subjects such the foundation of God, the proceeds of everything from Him, the figure of Christ, his incarnation and the human being. In conclusion, the id quo maius acquired an important and renewed meaning -through the anthropological interpretation done - not only for the historical research but for the contemporary man too.

Skuldbegreppet används inom olika områden. I Bibeln och andra mytologiska berättelser finns temat skuld beskrivet. Inom psykologin vrider och vänder man på skam- och skuldbegreppet inom flera olika inriktningar som psykoanalysen och existenspsykologin.  Syftet med denna uppsats i en komparativ litteraturstudie är att undersöka och belysa emotionen skuld ur olika perspektiv, och söka förståelse kring hur bearbetning av skuld påverkas av respektive perspektiv. Genom att jämföra tre samtida författare, Marianne Lerner, psykoterapeut som får representera psykologin. Harlan J. Wechsler, representerar judisk teologiskt perspektiv, och Rollo May, psykolog, som får stå för den existentiella inriktningen. Emotionen skuld är en komponent i varje enskild människans liv, som var och en hanterar både på ett medvetet och ett omedvetet plan. Skulden samverkar med andra emotioner och har en positiv och en negativ sida. Alla tre inriktningar har ett spänningsfält mellan temat god-ond som behöver internaliseras och samverka inom psyket i varje enskild människas liv. Förmågan att ta ansvar sker genom acceptans (existentialismen/May) integration av skuld (psykologin/Lerner) och att göra bättring (judisk teologi/Wechsler).

Katta Spiel widmet sich in diesem Beitrag der Frage wie in einer Welt, in der Technologien oft dazu dienen, Behinderungen persistent als unbegehrliches Defizit zu konzeptualisieren, Technikentwicklung bestärkende Utopien, welche Bezug nehmen auf Körper und assistive Technologien, realisieren können. Konkret nutzt Spiel dazu Karen Barad's Artikel Transmaterialities: Trans*/Matter/Realities and Queer Political Imaginings (2015) um nachzuverfolgen, wie wir über Technologien spekulieren können, die behinderte Körper als Potentiale verstehen. Der spekulative Ansatz bietet Möglichkeiten zur positiven Verhandlung von behinderten Körpern und betrachtet sie als formbar und begehrlich - als ontologisch unbestimmt und transzendent.

Begrifflichkeiten, die den Tod ontologisch zu (be)greifen versuchen, unterliegen auch heute noch einer gewissen Ungenauigkeit, vor allem, was den Todeszeitpunkt betrifft. Umgangssprachlich werden dennoch manchmal ganze Regionen als »sterbend« oder »tot« bezeichnet, ohne dass Herkunft und Implikationen einer solchen Sichtweise reflektiert werden. Genauer betrachtet wird dabei die Bedeutung für den menschlichen Nutzen ins Zentrum der Beurteilung gerückt. Sozialwissenschaftliche Perspektiven wie der Posthumanismus oder NaturenKulturen können neue Denkimpulse und Interpretationsräume schaffen, um sprachliche Konstrukte wie »tote Regionen« hinsichtlich ihrer Herkünfte zu enttarnen. Sie entheben den Menschen analytisch aus der alleinigen Stellung im Zentrum der Wahrnehmung und tragen so dazu bei, Raumkonstruktionen wi Regionalisierung neu zu interpretieren.
