He article discusses the current state and trends in the development of the sharing economy as a business model. Initially, the sharing economy assumed an exchange between people, but businessmen quickly learned to use the growing popularity of the trend. Companies began to provide platforms for sharing goods.The growing number of mobile and online platforms that effectively connect people who have underutilized assets with people who want to use them, allows you to advertise and sell products widely. In the sharing economy, the role of the consumer is changing to a two-way one, with consumers acting as buyers and suppliers of resources.By “sharing economy” the author understands such a social model, where there is a conscious rejection of private property in favor of collective, and this refusal is associated not with a lack of money, but with a desire to expand their capabilities.The economy of shared consumption today affects most areas of everyday life, changing the methods of transportation (Uber app, BlaBlaCar, Delimobil), living conditions in travel (on Airbnb), ways of entertainment (Netflix and YouTube, etc.), performing tasks (TaskRabbit itself), financing (Kickstarter), etc.Continuing the research, the author found that a number of prerequisites influenced the emergence and development of this business model, for example, the development of the Internet, a change in thinking in favor of a more open and trusting (for example, a trip with strangers to the BlaBlaCar site), a lack of desire to save for a long time to purchase property, urbanization, etc.

Resumo:

Pure monopoly (supply side monopoly), where against one seller of particular products which doesn't have close substitutes stand many buyers, as well as the market state of a pure monopsony (demand side monopoly) are theoretical models. In practice such market conditions is hard to find. The aim of this paper is to point out the problem of the equilibrium of an enterprise in the conditions when one company with a monopsonic position on a market of inputs sells its product only to one firm which has a monopoly position in the market of its output, which actually means solving the problem of equilibrium of the enterprise in the conditions of bilateral monopoly. By integrating these enterprises, the market condition of the bilateral monopoly is going to be transformed into a new structure, well-known as the market state of the monemporium. The integrated enterprise has an extremely strong market power manifested through both on the side of selling its output and on the procurement of production inputs. The problem of the equilibrium of such an enterprise and the economic implications, especially those that have a reflection on the level of profit, are a particular area of interests in this paper.

The trasformation of the moder society is often considered through the analysys of developing and modernizing countries that are undergoing transitional socio-economic conditions and stages of radical transformation of socio-political structures. At the same time, it is often overlooked that the development of many countries also went through periods of modernization, which included evolutionary and revolutionary transformations. This article will consider different approaches to the socio-philisophical analysis of the modern society transformation with the aim to structure current and historical knowledge of this matter.

Resumo:

This study examined conflict transformation as a viable method to resolve conflict and a viable tool to train church leaders to transform conflict into sustainable peace. Conflict between congregants, specifically between leaders, has become an especially relevant issue in the church. The church tends to view conflict as abysmal failure—an embarrassment that should be hidden. The reality is that it is only through conflict that one learns and grows. The growth edge is where authentic, honest relationships are developed, ego-selves restrained, and ego-groups transcended. The author developed a training module titled “Conflict Transformation in the Church” to explore the attitudes of the leaders toward conflict. The overall training goal was to examine and change the attitudes of leaders viewing conflict from a negative perspective; i.e., avoid it and end it quickly, to an attitude of viewing conflict from a positive perspective; i.e., spiritual process that brings people closer to God and each other and sustains peace. The training consisted of one nine-hour training session for forty participants involving leaders of church ministries and some members of ministries. The session included video and audio recording, group interaction, and discussion. The researcher used data from participants’ pre and post surveys and interviews to analyze changes in attitudes and qualitative techniques to develop common themes/categories of information for the interviews. Analysis of the Data Provided Overall, this study supported previous research on this topic, which concluded that if church ministry leaders supported a coherent conflict transformation framework, their influence upon this foundation could be instrumental in changing the relationships, attitudes, interests, and discourses of the entire congregation. The dissertation’s hypothesis is that interaction between individuals belonging to the church, coupled with religious peace traditions, such as forgiveness and reconciliation, will reduce interpersonal and inter-ministry conflict. The researcher addressed various characteristics and manifestations of conflict by examining the root causes over a long period with the focus on transforming negative ways of dealing with conflict into positive, constructive ones. While the goal was a success of changing the lens by which leaders viewed conflict, there was not enough time to determine if the participants would actually practice the principles. Thus, in the future, the researcher intends to continue to present this church and others with subsequent training workshops on the same topic, “Conflict Transformation in the Church.”

Cette thèse étudie la réforme bancaire en Russie. Dans la première partie, nous avons analysé les bases théoriques du fonctionnement efficace du système financier et l'impact de la politique monétaire sur les bilans bancaires. Nous avons construit un modèle simple du comportement des banques face à un resserrement/relâchement monétaire. Dans la deuxième partie, nous avons examiné les réalités de la transformation du système financier russe depuis 1988 jusqu'à nos jours. Nous avons conclu que le resserrement de la politique monétaire depuis 1995 a eu un impact disproportionnel sur les banques. Alors que certaines banques ont même réussi à renforcer leurs positions ces dernières années, le secteur bancaire russe dans son ensemble reste dans une situation délicate

Bill Gates dichiarò che “the world needs banking not bank”. Si iniziò il processo di ricerca verso la digitalizzazione del sistema Finanziario, unendo la terminologia finanza con tecnologia: Fintech. Le aziende Fintech stanno destando subbugli nel sistema bancario proponendo alla loro clientela, private e retail, soluzioni finanziarie vantaggiosi specie per quanto riguardano i costi. La digitalizzazione automatizzò la maggior parte dei servizi, permettendo l’abbattimento di costi ma specialmente far risparmiar tempo ai customers. Quest’approccio sta mettendo in discussione non solo il modello di banca universale ma anche quello di business bank traditional. Il processo di digital trasformation del settore bancario-finanziario è in corso da diversi anni, ma la crisi economico finanziaria del 2008 e pandemia di covid 19 del 2020, hanno contribuito a dare una spinta al mondo digital nelle banche ma specialmente al settore Fintech. L’obiettivo dell’elaborato consiste nell’analisi per cui il sistema di banca universale sta negli anni venendo meno, cercando di trasformarsi, o quantomeno adattandosi al mondo digital. Verranno analizzate le principali fonti di finanziamento e reperimento delle risorse come il Crowdfunding Si analizzerà la proiezione delle aziende Digital-Fintech nel mondo. Si vedrà infine come il settore traditional e quello digital non potranno andare a scomparire ma, si andrà a creare una sorta di gemellaggio tra sistemi economici, bancari e finanziari.

Des essais de transformation génétique de la chicorée de Bruxelles cv. Flash par Agrobacterium tumefaciens contenant les gènes uidA et nptII ont été tentés sur trois types d'organes : racines tubérisées, feuilles et cotylédons. Les gènes introduits étaient soit sous le contrôle du promoteur TR 1'2' de la mannopine synthase soit placé derrière les promoteurs 35S CaMV et nos. Les explants racinaires produisent des bourgeons dont l'activité GUS est transitoire. Les feuilles et les cotylédons produisent des transformants présentant une activité GUS stable, mais la fréquence de transformation est plus élevée avec les cotylédons. Une étape de préculture des feuilles améliore, cependant, les rendements de transformation. Nous avons mis en évidence la présence de protéines de type vitronectine dans les explants cotylédonaires et foliaires, mais non dans les racines. Une étape de préculture des feuilles n'augmente pas la production de ce type de protéine. Nous ne pouvons donc pas conclure à un rôle de la vitronectine dans la transformation génétique de la chicorée par les agrobactéries utilisées. Les analyses biochimiques des plantes transgéniques montrent une expression du gène nptII chez ces plantes ainsi qu'une integration des genes de l'ADN-T dans leurs génomes. La transmission de la résistance à la kanamycine suit les fréquences mendéliennes dans 57% des cas. Dans le reste, les fréquences calculées suggèrent que le gène uidA est transmis comme un caractère létal. Parallèlement à la transformation indirect par les souches d'Agrobacterium tumefaciens, nous avons utilisé l'étude d'une transformation directe par électroporation de protoplastes de chicorée. Les rendements restent faibles et la méthode demande à être optimisée.

Nei sistemi di editing collaborativo Real-Time più utenti si trovano ad apportare modifiche ad uno stesso documento contemporaneamente. Queste modifiche, a volte, possono riguardare la stessa porzione di testo ed entrare in conflitto tra di loro. La gestione di questi conflitti tra operazioni concorrenti rappresenta un problema di cruciale importanza in quanto, se affrontato inadeguatamente, può portare a stati incoerenti del modello di dati condiviso tra gli utenti connessi al sistema. Operational Transformation è una tecnologia che permette la risoluzione di conflitti in ambienti di collaborazione real-time per l’editing di documenti testuali, proponendo una serie di metodologie e proprietà che permettono di risolvere queste problematiche in maniera efficiente senza appesantire troppo il sistema. Un ulteriore grado di complessità si aggiunge quando si parla di editor strutturati. In questi sistemi, infatti, le operazioni non riguardano solo il contenuto testuale, ma anche elementi di layout, dimensioni dei caratteri e metadati. Più modifiche possono essere apportate contemporaneamente dallo stesso sistema, assumendo un significato semanticamente più complesso di una semplice operazione di cancellazione o di inserimento di testo. Per questo motivo, dopo l'approfondimento degli aspetti teorici di OT, mi sono cimentato nella realizzazione di un algoritmo di Operational Transformation in un editor strutturato.

This paper is dealing with application of business models into the area of social networks. The aim is to identify relevant business models for social networks industry based on chosen methodic and to analyse business success of application these models. First part of this paper defines and describes existing business models. Next part defines social networks and chose potential business models suitable for implementation into the industry of social networks. Analytical part investigates chosen social networks from the aspect of business model it implemented. This part also identifies respective business models defined in theoretical part of this paper and evaluates the success of its application. Analysis of the business models used by selected social networks with focus on the differences between application of these model in social network industry and other industries is made at the end of this paper.

Il mondo del Retail, dalla grande distribuzione fino al commercio al dettaglio, vive oggi una trasformazione digitale che ha completamente rivoluzionato i modi di offerta e di acquisto, nonché le aspettative ed abitudini dei clienti. Le aziende non vendono più solo un prodotto, ma un’esperienza completa (customer experience), coinvolgente, personalizzata, capace di adattarsi alle esigenze del cliente e rispondere ai suoi desideri. Tale esperienza si snoda attraverso un complesso percorso di interazioni tra il cliente e il brand su diversi canali, dai social media, ai siti web, ai negozi fisici e online, fino ai grandi marketplace. La competitività delle aziende si giocherà sulla loro abilità di integrare e sfruttare gli strumenti digitali nell’intero percorso di interazione brand-cliente. I negozi fisici non scompariranno, ma muteranno le esperienze che lì si potranno vivere. Essi diventeranno spazi osmotici, fluidi, multifunzionali. Saranno integrati sensori e dispositivi multimediali, che li renderanno reattivi e sensibili. Tutte queste tecnologie permetteranno alle aziende di conoscere meglio il proprio cliente e ciò che preferisce o fa in ogni momento del percorso di acquisto. In questo modo esse potranno allineare le esperienze di acquisto nel mondo fisico a quelle digitali, offrendo un’immagine unica e coerente dei propri brand. All’interno di questo quadro nasce e sviluppa il presente lavoro di ricerca, che mira a fornire un contributo innovativo al mondo della Customer Experience (CX) e del Retail, mediante la definizione di un approccio olistico al progetto dell’intera CX e lo sviluppo di un nuovo strumento per l’analisi dei comportamenti ed emozioni dei consumatori nei diversi touchpoint dell’esperienza digitale e fisica per poi adattarla così da ottimizzare il tasso di conversione e aumentare le vendite.
The retail world, from large retailers to retail, is now experiencing a digital transformation that has completely revolutionized the ways of supply and purchase, as well as the expectations and habits of customers. Companies no longer sell just one product, but a complete experience (customer experience), engaging, personalized, able to adapt to customer needs and respond to their wishes. This experience unfolds through a complex path of interactions between the customer and the brand on different channels, from social media, to websites, physical and online stores, to large marketplaces. The competitiveness of companies will be based on their ability to integrate and exploit digital tools throughout the brand-customer interaction process. The physical stores will not disappear, but the experiences that will be lived there will change. They will become osmotic, fluid, multifunctional spaces. Sensors and multimedia devices will be integrated, which will make them responsive and sensitive. All these technologies will allow companies to learn more about their customers and what they prefer or do at any time during the purchase process. In this way they will be able to align the purchasing experiences in the physical world with the digital ones, offering a unique and coherent image of their brands. This research project is born and developed within this framework, which aims to provide an innovative contribution to the world of Customer Experience (CX) and Retail, through the definition of a holistic approach to the whole CX project and the development of a new tool for analyzing consumers' behaviors and emotions in the different touchpoints of the digital and physical experience and then adapting it to optimize the conversion rate and increase sales.

Selective laser melting (SLM) has been shown to be an attractive manufacturing route for the production of ??/?? titanium alloys, and in particular Ti-6Al-4V. A thorough understanding of the relationship between the process, microstructure and mechanical properties of the components produced by this technology is however crucial for the establishment of SLM as an alternative manufacturing route. The purpose of the present study is thus to determine the microstructure evolution, crystallographic texture and the mechanical properties of SLM Ti-6Al-4V. The effect of several processing parameters on the density and the microstructure of the SLM samples were initially investigated. It was found that different sets of process parameters can be used to fabricate near fully dense components. It was found that the samples built using the optimised process window consist exclusively of ????? martensitic phase precipitated from prior ?? columnar grains. It was observed that the ?? grain solidification is influenced by the laser scan strategy and that the ?? phase has a strong <001> texture along its grain growth direction. The ????? martensitic laths that originate from the parent ?? grains precipitate according to the Burgers orientation relationship. It was found that ????? laths clusters from the same ?? grain have a specific misorientation that minimise the local shape strain. Texture inheritance across successive deposited layers was also observed and discussed in relation to various variant selection mechanisms. The mechanical properties of as-built and stress relieved SLM Ti-6Al-4V built using the same optimised process parameters were then investigated. It was found that the build orientation affects the tensile properties, and in particular the ductility of the samples. Samples built perpendicularly to the building direction showed higher ductility than those built in the vertical orientation. It was also observed that a stress relief heat treatment was beneficial to the mechanical properties of SLM Ti-6Al-4V. The ductility of the stress relieved samples was indeed higher than those found in the as-built condition. It was found that the predominant fracture mode during tensile testing is inter-granular. In terms of high-cycle fatigue, it was found that SLM Ti-6Al-4V is comparable to HIPed cast Ti-6Al-4V but it has a significantly lower fatigue resistance than that of wrought and annealed alloys. It was observed that porosity and the elongated prior ?? grain boundaries decrease substantially the fatigue life of the components. Cracks propagate either by fatigue striation or ductile tearing mechanisms. Using alternative laser scan strategies it was possible to control the microstructure of the as-built samples. It was observed that the laser scan vector length influences several microstructural features, such as the width of the prior ?? grains and the thickness of the ????? laths. It was found that re-melting the same layer has instead little effect on the microstructure. A novel laser scan strategy characterised by much lower laser power and scan speed than those typically used in SLM enabled finally to fabricate SLM Ti-6Al-4V with a microstructure close to that of conventionally manufactured Ti-6Al-4V. This study investigates for the first time the crystallographic texture evolution in Ti-6Al-4V manufactured by SLM. Further, this research presents for the first time the effect of the characteristic microstructure and crystallographic texture on the mechanical properties and fracture of SLM Ti-6Al-4V. Lastly, for the first time this research shows examples of microstructural control during the SLM fabrication of the same alloy using long laser dwell times.

A partire da un paradigma ecologico ad indirizzo critico, seguendo il filone degli studi femministi, le finalità della ricerca sono state: smascherare le forme di oppressione di genere nei contesti educativi (finalità trasformativa) e produrre un sapere utile alla pratica (finalità emancipativa). Data la complessità del contesto educativo scolastico e dell’argomento stesso che interseca vari domini di sapere, è stato adottato un approccio metodologico di metodo misto (mixed method) per poter dapprima costruire una configurazione del fenomeno oggetto d’interesse attraverso strumenti quantitativi e poi approfondirlo attraverso l’impiego di tecniche qualitative. Gli strumenti utilizzati sono stati: il questionario, l’intervista strutturata, le osservazioni, le biografie professionali, i focus-group. In sintesi, le evidenze emerse in letteratura ed empiriche mettono in luce la presenza di stereotipi di genere nelle lezioni di EF, sotto forma di pratiche inconsapevoli che gli insegnanti riproducono a seguito di un habitus socializzato in forma binaria secondo i due sessi e gerarchizzato. La dipendenza dell’EF dal mondo sportivo, dove gli stereotipi di genere sono presenti per ragioni storico-culturali e dal quale gli insegnanti attingono spesso parte del loro sapere professionale, li rende partecipi inconsapevoli del sistema di rinforzo degli stereotipi stessi, attraverso le pratiche che vanno sotto il nome di curricolo nascosto. Il termine nascosto sottolinea l’inconsapevolezza di tali pratiche, appunto nascoste alla coscienza e si deduce che la possibilità di svelarle necessita di una formazione specifica per gli insegnanti, una formazione che attinga ai processi riflessivi.
Starting from a critical ecological approach, following the trend of feminist studies, the purpose of the research were to unmask the forms of gender oppression in educational contexts (transformative purpose) and to implemente transformative pedagogical practice in P.E. for gender equality (emancipatory purpose). Given the complexity of the school educational context and of the topic itself that intersects various domains of knowledge, a mixed methodological approach was adopted. First to build a configuration of the phenomenon object of interest through quantitative tools and then deepen it using qualitative techniques. The tools used were the questionnaire, structured interview, observations in situ, professional biographies and focus groups. In summary, the evidence that emerged in the literature and empirical, highlights the presence of gender stereotypes in P.E. lessons, taken in the form of unconscious practices that teachers reproduce following a habitus socialized in binary gender form and hierarchized. The sports world, where gender stereotypes are present for historical-cultural reasons and from which teachers often draw part of their professional knowledge, makes them unconscious participants of reinforcement of the stereotypes through the practices know as “hidden curriculum”. The term hidden underlines the lack of awareness of such practices. The possibility of revealing them requires specific training for teachers on the habit of reflection on teaching practices.

Представлены результаты изучения спорово-пыльцевых спектров и диатомовых водорослей в разрезах отложений в пределах средневвекового городища Стеклянуха 2. Восстановлена палеоландшафтная ситуация и выделены признаки антропогенного воздействия на растительность. Палиноспектры из поверхностной почвы отражают активное сельскохозяйственное освоение близлежащих речных долин со второй половины XIXвека. Изучение диатомовых водорослей в древнем котловане подтвердило предположение, что его использовали для хранения запасов воды. The results of pollen spectra and diatoms study within the middle-century settlement of Steklyanukha 2 are presented. The paleolandscape situation was restored and signs of anthropogenic impact on vegetation were identified. Pollen from surface soil reflect the active agricultural development of nearby river valleys from the second half of the 19th century. A study of diatom algae in an ancient pit confirmed the assumption that it was used to store water reserves.

This paper presents a refinement technique for a B2-spline degenerate isoparametric shell finite element model for the analysis of the vibrational behavior of thin and moderately thick-walled structures. Complex structures to be refined are modeled by means of FE B-spline patches assembled with C0 continuity as usual in FE technique. The model refinement was performed by adding, on the domain of the selected patch, a tensorial set of polynomial B-spline functions, defined on local clamped knot vectors, and normalizing all the functions so that the resulting displacement field remain polynomial and continuous overall the domain except on the boundaries of the refined subdomain. A degrees of freedom trasformation, based on the knot-insertion algorthim, is adopted in order to guarantee the C0 continuity of the displacement field on the boundaries of the refined subdomain. Two numerical examples are presented in order to test the proposed approach. The natural frequencies of two structures, computed by means of the proposed modelling technique, are compared with reference results available in the literature or computed by means of reference standard FE models. Strengths and limits of the approach are finally discussed.

From a fortress to a residential castle: a stratigraphic reading of the transformations in the Rocca of Novellara (RE, Italy)The paper reports the results of a stratigraphic reading on the northern façade of the Rocca di Novellara (Reggio Emilia, Italy), a castle which is now the town hall, right in the city centre. Though as a pole of the contemporary public life in Novellara, housing at present both a museum and a nineteenth century theatre, the Rocca recalls its military past through its name and by means of the still standing remains of the walls and corner towers. Besides a well-documented historical development, the stratigraphic investigation of the northern façade –the only part that still hasn’t been restored– allowed a direct observation of the material traces revealing the slow transformation of the Rocca from a fortification to a residential castle. This study gave the chance of understanding the different constructive phases of the castle, making a chronological sequence out of them but it was also meant to reflect about the changes of its character, as the building has been acquiring a complex identity through time, due both to high qualified architectural episodes and to as much meaningful though tiny changes. Thus, the permanence of the stratified marks can be regarded as one of the main goals of a preservation project.

Guardare dei luoghi prodotti da eterogenee mescolanze di elementi di varia natura può attivare dei processi trasformativi dei paesaggi in cui è possibile plasmare e riusare ciò che si trova. La ricerca sui Beni galleggianti a fine del ciclo di vita nei paesaggi costieri indaga il fenomeno dell’abbandono dei mezzi nautici alla fine del ciclo di vita come forma apparente che muta in altra forma e il paesaggio contaminato come deposito dell’energia di una natura persistente. Paesaggi fluviali, marittimi o lacustri accolgono l’azione umana per ciò che in essi lascia, vale a dire resti di natanti arenati sulle coste o accatastati in luoghi di fortuna; stampi di costruzione dismessi; relitti faticosamente censibili di imbarcazioni affondate per avaria o deliberatamente inabissate in quanto ritenute desuete. L’insieme delle imbarcazioni alla fine del ciclo di vita assume la forma di un patrimonio nautico dell'abbandono che occupa porzioni di litorali, depaupera gli ecosistemi di terra e d'acqua e altera la percezione del paesaggio preesistente. Il riconoscimento del fragile stato di quei particolari ambiti terrestri ed acquatici, vitali e limitati, è fondamentale per la loro sopravvivenza, e non solo. Preludio per nuovi stadi evolutivi, i paesaggi costieri contaminati si possono trasformare in metafore poetiche di un dialogo rinnovato fra uomo e natura, luoghi d’innovazione e di possibilità in grado di autogenerarsi e garantire nel tempo una fruibilità condivisa. Looking at places produced by heterogeneous mixtures is possible activate the transformative processes of the landscapes where to reuse what you find. The research on "floating at the end of the life cycle in coastal landscapes" explores the phenomenon of abandoned boat at the end of life as a form apparent, and the polluted landscape as the storage of persistent nature. Landscapes of river, sea or lake the accommodate human actions: the remains of boats stranded on the coasts or stacked; molds abandoned; wrecks of sunken ships to deliberately damage or sunken as they are considered obsolete. The set of vessels at the end of the life cycle takes the form of a abandoned nautical heritage which occupies portions of the coasts, depletes ecosystems of land and water and alters the perception of the landscape preexisting. The recognition of the fragile state of those particular areas of land and water, vitals and limited, it is essential for their survival, and more. Prelude to new developmental stages, the coastal landscape hybridized can transformed into poetic metaphors of a renewed dialogue between man and nature, place of innovation and opportunity that can self-generate and ensure the usability.

Le trasformazioni che investono la città mediterranea contemporanea rendono l’abitare sempre più complesso e contaminato. La precarietà è una condizione ricorrente che genera paesaggi imprevedibili e incostanti. Nasce l’esigenza di rileggere la città attraverso le sue stratificazioni non più solo materiali: si abita riciclando spazi, stravolgendo relazioni, utilizzando strategie di mercato inusuali. La città perde la sua organicità apparente ma, trasformandosi, mantiene i suoi elementi fondanti, sopravvivendo nelle forme di autocostruzione e appropriazione, nelle relazioni sociali e negli assetti economici. La condizione di sopravvivenza si fa strategia e nuova frontiera dell’abitare. La tesi trova le sue argomentazioni in contesti dove condizioni ambientali e socio-economiche generano paesaggi al limite della sopravvivenza. È il caso del Cairo in cui interi quartieri sono stati trasformati dall’ingente domanda di sopravvivenza. In particolare, il paper vuole approfondire il caso studio della Città dei Morti. Inizialmente occupata da strutture temporanee di parenti adoranti, Al-Qarāfa è oggi abitata da circa un milione di egiziani. La densità abitativa è alta e i servizi non sempre sufficienti, per cui le autorità locali decisero nel 2010 di radere al suolo intere sezioni del cimitero attraverso l’attuazione del piano urbanistico Cairo 2050, stravolgendo l’impianto originario dell’area. Qual’è il ruolo del progetto? Quali sono i modelli politici, economici e sociali in grado di rigenerare la città mediterranea contemporanea? Si può ancora parlare di ‘modello mediterraneo’? The transformations that affect the contemporary Mediterranean city make the way of living more and more complex and contaminated. Precariousness is a recurring condition that generates unforeseeable and variable landscapes. It becomes necessary to reassess the city through its layers not only the material ones: you live by recycling spaces, changing relationships, using unusual market strategies. The city loses its apparent organicity but, transforming itself, keeps its basic elements, surviving in self-constructions and appropriation forms, in social relations and in the economic arrangements. The condition of survival becomes strategy and new border of living. The thesis finds its arguments in contexts where environmental and socio-economic conditions produce landscapes at the limits of survival. This is the case of Cairo where entire districts have been transformed by the huge demand of survival. In particular, the paper wants to deepen the study case of the City of the Dead. Initially occupied by temporary structures of adoring relatives, Al-Qarāfa is today inhabited by about a million of Egyptians. The population density is high and the services aren't always enough, so the local authorities decided in the 2010 to demolish entire sections of the cemetery through the implementation of the development plan Cairo 2050, changing the original structure of the area. What is the role of the project? What are the political, economic and social models capable of regenerating the contemporary mediterranean city? Can we still speak of 'Mediterranean model'?
