Анотація:

This article aimed to define the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and its Style Regional Bodies (FSRBs) that combat money laundering and terrorist financing in the specific case of Cape Verde and Senegal with FATF`s recommendations with respect to the regulation and supervision. Therefore, a comparative analysis methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach was developed to compare two member countries of the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA). In data collection, secondary data sources were used: theoretical literature on the subject and FATF report on Mutual Assessment Reports (RAM). This study analyzed variations in compliance with FATF standards between two GIABA member countries: Cape Verde and Senegal. It turned out that although Senegal has almost entirely extended these standards, Cape Verde only partially fulfilled them. These compliance variations are mainly attributed to the varying level of readiness in countries' commitment to legislative and regulatory requirements before the mutual evaluation process. This study makes a unique and vital contribution as it demonstrates the effectiveness of applying the FATF standards for these two GIABA member countries.

Purpose This paper aims to critically examine the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2016. It also aims to determine the level of effectiveness of the preventive measures in the Bill. Design/methodology/approach The appraisal took the form of a desk study, which analyzed various documents and reports such as the Financial Action Task Force Recommendations 2012, Mutual Evaluation Reports conducted by the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) on Nigeria, the judgment delivered by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court Abuja and the United Kingdom’s national risk assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing. Findings This paper determined that the Bill could achieve its core objectives if the following recommendations are implemented: section 15 of the Bill should be modified to include the definition of “Arrangement”; lawyers should be allowed to send their Suspicious Transaction Report to the Nigerian Bar Association, provided that there are appropriate forms of cooperation between the NBA and the Financial Intelligence Unit, and this approach is in line with the Financial Action Task Force Recommendations; the Bill should expressly prohibit retaliation by employers against whistleblowers and provide them with a private cause of action in the event that they are discharged or discriminated against by their employers, and this approach is being adopted by the US Dodd–Frank Act; a request for customer information, by the Director-General of the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Centre, should be made pursuant to an order of the Federal High Court obtained upon an ex-parte application supported by a sworn declaration by an authorized officer of the Centre, justifying the request for customer information. Originality/value This paper offers a critical appraisal of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill, 2016. The paper will identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Bill. This is the only paper to adopt this kind of approach.

Анотація:

GIADA (Grain Impact Analyser and Dust Accumulator) on-board the Rosetta mission to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko was designed to study the physical and dynamical properties of dust particles ejected by the comet during the encounter. In this paper we report the results of the analysis of data collected by GIADA during the past seven years of the cruise phase. During this period the GIADA detection subsystems were switched on for periodic in-flight payload checkouts to monitor their state-of-health including potential changes in its performance that could affect its data collection. Only slight variations in sensitivity and dynamical range were identified that will not affect the GIADA measurement capability during the Rosetta comet encounter and rendezvous phase. The GIADA microbalance system detected the presence of low-volatility material over a period of about 169 days when the GIADA cover remained partially opened. It is highly probable that this material originated from the spacecraft itself, as a spacecraft's outgassing was observed by the ROSINA mass spectrometer (on-board Rosetta) during the cruise phase. The identification of the low-volatility mass deposited on the microbalances as self-contamination will allow us to evaluate the mass rate background to be subtracted from the GIADA science data. These results obtained from GIADA cruise data analysis coupled with laboratory calibration data obtained from measurements using the GIADA spare model for selected cometary dust analogs will be the basis for the interpretation of the GIADA scientific data.

Анотація:

The growth of broiler chickens on diets containing various levels of Lemna gibba was evaluated. Groups of broiler chicks were fed on diets containing 0-400 g Lemna gibba/kg for 3 weeks. These chickens were then changed to standard diets for a further 2 weeks. As the level of Lemna gibba increased, feed consumption and weight gain decreased. However, when diets were changed to the standard diet, compensatory growth was observed. In a second experiment, diets were formulated with a metabolizable energy of 5.02 MJ (1200 kcal)/kg Lemna gibba and included a finer-milled Lemna gibba. Chickens were fed on diets containing 0-300 g Lemna gibba/kg for 4 weeks. Each group was then divided into two subgroups. For the next 2 weeks one of these sub-groups was maintained on the experimental (Lemna gibba) diets (LL), while the other sub-group was changed to a standard diet (LS). Bird fed at levels above 150 g Lemna gibba/kg had decreased consumption and weight gain. These birds when changed to a standard diet tended to have increased weight gain compared with chickens continuously fed standard rations. LS birds had significantly higher weight gains and feed consumption and lower feed conversion than LL birds. In contrast to older birds, chicks fed on Lemna gibba at high concentrations showed growth retardation. When changed back to a standard diet they demonstrated normal or compensatory growth.

Mining activities result in the accumulation of pollutants in aquatic environments. This study aimed to investigate the accumulation performances of Ag, Au, and As using Lemna minor and Lemna gibba in the acid mine waters of Maden copper deposit. L. minor and L. gibba are aquatic plants belonging to the duckweed family. They are small, fragile, and free-floating aquatic plants. L. minor and L. gibba were separately placed into two reactors. The plants and water from the reactors were collected daily for eight days. Additionally, the electric conductivity, temperature, and pH of the acid mine water were measured daily. L. minor and L. gibba samples were washed, dried, and burned at 300 °C in a drying oven for 24 h. The water and plant samples were analyzed for Ag, Au, and As content using ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectroscopy). The acid mine waters of Maden copper deposit contained 9.25 ± 0.4, 0.92 ± 0.02, and 193 ± 12 μg L−1, Ag, Au, and As, respectively. In comparison to control samples, L. gibba and L. minor showed high and effective performances in removing Ag, Au and As from the acid mine waters of Maden copper deposit; 240 and 174 times for Ag; 336 and 394 times for Au; and 30 and 907 times for As, respectively. Overall, the results suggest that L. gibba and L. minor can effectively remove Ag, Au, and As from acid mine waters, highlighting their potential use in environmental remediation.

Анотація:

African prose fictions have written on a whole number of ideas and perception, but have conspicuously paid little or no attention to what is predominant in the Islamic society and religious world. For Gimba, the intrigues and contestation over power, especially within the civil service, assume a metaphoric significance in unraveling social contradictions in society. Gimba thus, evaluates the various dimensions of power and how it is used to subjugate or oppress people. In most of his works, Gimba pillories the repressive nature of power and the conflicts it engenders are graphically illustrated. In his articulation of this disabling environment, Gimba evokes a consciousness, concerned with Manichaeism and alienation. Gimba is sensitive to his characters as they adjust to the uncertainties of a postcolonial society with all the indices of underdevelopment, greed, corruption, bureaucratic tardiness, indiscipline, political instability etc. These characteristics of modern Nigeria form the background from which Gimba’s characters are drawn. However, drawing from their Islamic background, the characters in Gimba’s works express their morality, conviction and thought through the ideals of the religion. This leads to a remarkable blending of social and moral concerns with the supervening influence of Islam without sermonization. The outcome of this fusion is a balance between aesthetics and spiritual interests in a way that captures the essence of Northern Nigeria with vividness and freshness. Gimba, like Tahir, therefore relates the traditional and cultural values of the people to their response to the dilemma of new experiences and their interpretations of them. Gimba draws his sources from The Holy Qur’an in the delineation of setting, action and character. As a liberal feminist, he chooses urban heroines through whom he restructures our visions. This article attempts to investigate Gimba’s works using Neo-humanistic theory in evaluating his inclusion of religion and the techniques used conspicuously in the novels, Witnesses to Tears and Sacred Apples. This scholarly work equally argues that the writer’s creativity in religion can best be appreciated through an analytical study of the novel.

Nutrient removal and productivity of the Lemna gibba system were studied for a period of ten days. the experiments were conducted over a period of SO days The nutrient removal patterns were obtained for ammonia-nitrogen, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate Reductions in nutrient in the Lemna gibba system are higher in raw wastewater compared to dilutions. Ammonia nitrogen had maximum removal efficiency followed by nitrate, nitrite and phosphate. Biomass productivity was also higher in the raw wastewater series than with dilutions. The studies indicated the survival of Lemna gibba in low nutrient loading conditions and also as a potential biomass resource

SummaryThe Giara pony is a less known, equine breed of small stature, typical of the island of Sardinia. It draws its denomination from the highland of the Giara, where it lives in the wild.The ponies appeared in Sardinia approximately in the VII century B. C. Recent research, carried out on haemoglobin polymorphism, underlined some analogies with the Arabic horses of North-Africa.These ponies, have a dolyichomorphic-type constitution with long, naked and resistant legs. In the past they were used for agricultural work, however later, with the increase of mechanisation, they returned to the Giara highland where they became feral.The Giara ponies, in the light of recent scientific research, possess not only an inestimable genetic patrimony but they also represent a large source of interest for the equestrian sport, and, above all, for children's riding therapy.The author underlines, finally, that the principal material of this article has been outlined in a symposium held at the University of Sassari 18/11/1997, entitled: “Phenomenology of the environment: psycho-social and zoo-anthropological perspectives”.

Les Quarante Recommandations du Groupe d’action financière (GAFI) sont communément reconnues comme constituant le cadre universel de référence dans la lutte contre le blanchiment de capitaux et le financement du terrorisme (LBC/FT). Aussi les perspectives d’une pleine conformité des Etats membres de l’UEMOA dans la lutte contre le blanchiment de capitaux ont-elles été envisagées à l’aune des critères de conformité auxdites Recommandations, dans cette étude se joignant à la recherche des solutions idoines pour consolider les acquis de la compliance dans l’anti-blanchiment dans ces pays ouest africains. Ainsi, un retour dans le passé a permis de retracer l’origine, le sens et la portée des standards du GAFI, en interrogeant le rôle des acteurs-phares de la genèse de la LBC/FT, en apportant la lumière sur les exigences spécifiques que les Etats doivent remplir pour atteindre la conformité dans la lutte contre le blanchiment. Mais encore, d’interroger la contribution de l’Afrique, qui a apporté des réponses juridiques et institutionnelles, mais pouvant gagner en efficacité par une meilleure coopération à l’échelle surtout, continentale. Dans les Etats membres, la conformité dans l’anti-blanchiment est subordonnée à un ensemble d’initiatives, voire de réformes d’ordre réglementaire, institutionnel et structurel devant permettre d’une part, d’optimiser les possibilités de prévention du blanchiment et d’autre part, de répondre davantage aux besoins particuliers du dispositif répressif dans le respect des droits fondamentaux. La teneur des mesures spécifiques requises à cet effet, lesquelles devraient désormais être pensées selon une démarche plus exhaustive et proactive, a été précisée dans cette analyse selon une approche détaillée s’employant à rechercher les moyens d’atteindre la conformité des Etats membres de l’UEMOA à chacune des Recommandations du GAFI relatives à l’anti-blanchiment
The Financial Task Force’s Forty Recommendations are commonly recognized as the universal frame reference in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing (AML/CFT). Consequently, the FATF’s list of criteria for assessing technical compliance with the Forty Recommendations are the reference in this study, which purpose is to find the best measures and practices that would help West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) countries to be fully compliant with the Forty Recommendations. First of all, an analysis of the anti-money laundering system’s history was made for a better undersanding of the FATF standards’ scope, by interrogating the contribution of the main actors of the AML/CFT’s genesis, and underlying actions countries must take in order to be fully compliant. But also, by interrogating the contribution of african countries, who have provided legal and institutionnal responses to the money laundering issue, but still need to be more efficient in developping better continental cooperation practices. In the WAEMU countries, compliance with the Recommandations will require structural, regulatory and institutionnal initiatives and reforms in order to optimize the possibilities of money laundering prevention and to better respond to the needs of the law enforcement system while fully respecting the fundamental rights. The content of the specific measures required for such a purpose, which must now be determined according to an exhaustive and proactive approach, has been clarified in a detailed approach tending to seek ways to achieve compliance with each of the FATF’s Recommendations related to anti-money laundering

Анотація:

The development of diverse organ shapes involves genetically specified growth patterns which may differ across a tissue in rate and/ or orientation. Understanding specified growth is not intuitive since observed (resultant) growth rates and orientations are the result of specified growth combined with the effects of mechanical constraints in a connected tissue. Growth dynamics in leaves of Arabidopsis have previously been studied experimentally and modelled using a polarity field to orient growth, and regional factors which control local specified growth rates parallel and perpendicular to the polarity. It is unclear whether the mechanisms invoked for the development of 2D leaf shape can be applied to more complex 3D leaf shapes. In this work, I developed Utricularia gibba as a new model system and studied the development of U. gibba 3D epiascidiate (cup-shaped) leaves (known as bladders). I investigated bladder shape changes through development and modelled these transitions using isotropic (equal in all directions) or anisotropic (preferentially in one orientation) specified growth, showing that specified anisotropy is required to generate the full mature bladder shape. The shape of the main body of the bladder could be accounted for by both specified isotropic or anisotropic models. I tested predictions on growth dynamics and polarity made by each model using sector analysis and by investigating markers of tissue cell polarity in bladders. Sector analysis supported an anisotropic specified growth model, while quadrifid gland and UgPIN1 analysis provided evidence of a polarity field in U. gibba. Together, these observations suggest a common underlying mechanism for the generation of 3D and 2D leaves. This work shows how computational modelling can be combined with experimentation in a biological system to allow for a better understanding of the specified growth patterns underlying the generation of an organ shape.

Анотація:

La ricerca tenta di approfondire alcune delle criticità riscontrate in letteratura relative alla progettazione didattica dei MOOCs e agli approcci pedagogico-didattici adottati. I MOOCs potrebbero rappresentare per le università un’opportunità estremamente innovativa e rivoluzionaria per ampliare e diversificare l’offerta formativa. Nonostante l’entusiasmo che le università dimostrano nei confronti dei MOOCs, derivante in particolar modo dalle potenzialità di tali corsi nel raggiungere un vasto numero di studenti, esiste il rischio di considerare tali corsi come una “riproposizione colorata” dell’apprendimento individuale tradizionale. Tali corsi dovrebbero essere progettati seguendo differenti approcci pedagogici che richiedono l’adozione di specifici modelli didattici funzionali al raggiungimento degli obiettivi formativi prefissati. Pertanto, le domande che hanno guidato la ricerca interrogano i MOOCs come una nuova frontiera della formazione culturale di massa con particolare attenzione su quali modelli didattici sono stati intenzionalmente adottati nelle fasi di ideazione e progettazione dei cosiddetti MOOCs. Con l’obiettivo di cercare una risposta a questa domanda, si è condotta una ricerca volta a esplorare ed analizzare la fenomenologia di alcuni MOOCs erogati attraverso alcune delle piattaforme maggiormente diffuse in Italia.
The research attempts to investigate some of the critical points found in literature referred to instructional design of MOOCs and the pedagogical-didactic approaches adopted. MOOCs could represent an extremely innovative and revolutionary opportunity for universities that could expand their education programmes. Despite the enthusiasm shown by the universities on MOOCs opportunities, the risk to consider this kind of courses as a new form of traditional individual learning exists. These Massive Open Online Courses should be designed following different pedagogical approaches that requiring specific didactic models in order to reach predefined educational objectives. Thus, the research questions ask if MOOCs could be considered as a new frontier of mass cultural education. With the aim to answer to this questions the research has been developed analysing MOOCs’ phenomenology delivered through the main platforms in Italy.

This Master Graduation Thesis focuses on a Technical translation, from Chinese to Italian, of two articles and an episode of a documentary, concerning the use of jade in the funeral system in ancient China. The main topic is the discovery of the mysterious jade burial suits in ancient Chinese tombs. The articles also offer a rich explanation about the system of use of this suits, focusing on the specific period of the Western Han dynasty. The introduction consist of an explanation about the importance of jade in China, its meaning and its system of use across centuries and dynasties up to date . The introduction is followed by three translations. The first one is an article, published by the “Zhongguo wenhua huabao” , an illustrated journal about culture and arts of China, in 2008. The second one is an article published by the “Zhongyuan wenwu bianjibu”, an academic journal about archaeology and museums, edited by the Henan Museum. The third one, finally, is the translation of the subtitles of an episode taken by an eight-episodes famous documentary about jade, “ The jade legend” broadcasted by CCTV in 2012. All the texts taken into account are specialized texts, oriented towards an expert target audience. The language is technical and professional , full of references to different fields as history and archaeology, sometimes sustained by images that can help the reader in the process of understanding. The translation process fills up the main part of the thesis. Firstly, it focuses on the analysis of the features of the source texts, the function and the text type, the dominant and the model reader. Finally it provides the explanation of the macro and microstrategy adopted by the translator to solve the linguistic and the extra-linguistic problems encountered during the cultural and linguistic translation from Chinese to Italian.

Members of the aquatic plant genus Utricularia exhibit many unique characteristics: nutritional supplementation carried out by the most complex trapping mechanism of any carnivorous plant, extremely modified vegetative morphology, relaxed developmental constraints, high generic diversity, and fast genomic substitution rates. The vegetative morphology, anatomy and growth pattern of three species common to Florida's Everglades, U. gibba, U. cornuta, and U. subulata were analyzed in depth. Specimens were collected from different habitats in South Florida during both the wet and dry seasons. Light and scanning electron microscopy were used to quantify anatomical and morphological characteristics. A morphological model describing growth and the possible variations to the basic pattern was created for each of the three species, providing a framework for future ecological , physiological, and molecular studies. Additional field and herbarium observations were made of the remaining eight taxa found in southern Florida and a species key was created for all eleven taxa.

Introduction: The systematic use of aesthetic rhinoplasty began with Jaques Joseph (end of sec XIX). It was a reducing model, which lasted for decades. As a result, there were various functional and aesthetic consequences, leading to the search for a more structured alternative. However, there is still resistance to augmentation techniques, in part for the fear of going against the patientâs ideal, which is a small and delicate nose. However, it is known that increasing the radix may cause an apparent reduction in nasal base and that increasing the chin may cause an apparent reduction of nasal projection. However, these observations have not been tested in specific studies yet. In the current study, we tested the hypothesis that radix and tip augmentation procedures can cause the impression that there was a reduction of the nose, despite the augmentation. Methods: The sample consisted of 9 patients who underwent rhinoplasty with aesthetic purpose, with dorsal convexity at its proximal or middle area, who underwent radix and tip grafts and did not require further surgery. There were two subsequent phases. In the virtual phase, the shape of the preoperative nose was subjected to increasing radix and tip without any reduction procedure, through imaging software. The nine before and after pictures were presented to six examiners blinded to the methodology (total of 54 ratings) and they rated the modified images in one of five categories: -2 (much smaller than before); -1 (a little smaller than before); 0 (the same size as before); 1 (slightly bigger than before); 2 (much bigger than before). In the real phase of the study, the intervention consisted in rhinoplasty (the same patients) with radix and tip grafts and some other maneuvers required in each case. Evaluations followed the same method, but each patient evaluated their own results after three months of surgery. In addition, patients completed a questionnaire for assessment of satisfaction with the nose (ROE). Results: Virtual phase. There was an average increase of 6.5% in the size of the nose between the pre and the post intervention (p = 0.001). There was perceived decrease of size in the majority of cases (p = 0.004). Twenty four percent of evaluations indicated category (-2) and 44% indicated (-1). Real phase. There was an average increase in nasal dimensions (1%), however, this increase was not statistically significant (p = 0.392). There was perceived reduction (p = 0.004). Com a utilizaÃÃo do programa Doctor View, a imagem prÃ-operatÃria foi modificada com aumento de radix e de ponta, sem qualquer procedimento de reduÃÃo. As nove9 imagens de antes e depois das modificaÃÃes foram apresentadas a seis6 examinadores cegos para a metodologia (total de 54 avaliaÃÃes) e eles classificaram as imagens modificadas em uma das cinco categorias: -2 (muito menor que antes); -1 (menor que antes); 0 (do mesmo tamanho que antes); 1 (um pouco maior que antes); 2 (muito maior que antes). Em seguida, foi realizada uma fase real de estudo, na qual a intervenÃÃo consistiu-se na rinoplastia nos mesmos pacientes, com enxerto de radix e de ponta e algumas outras manobras julgadas necessÃrias em cada caso. As avaliaÃÃes seguiram o mesmo mÃtodo, mas cada paciente avaliou seu prÃprio resultado apÃs trÃs meses da cirurgia. AlÃm disso, os pacientes preencheram questionÃrio de avaliaÃÃo de satisfaÃÃo com o nariz (ROE). Resultados: Fase virtual: Houve aumento mÃdio de 6,5% na Ãrea do nariz entre ao prÃ e ao pÃs- intervenÃÃo (p=0,001). Houve percepÃÃo de reduÃÃo pelos avaliadores independentes (p=0,004). Vinte e quatro por cento das avaliaÃÃes apontaram a categoria (-2) e 44% apontaram (-1). Fase real: Houve aumento mÃdio das dimensÃes nasais (1%), porÃm sem significÃncia estatÃstica (p=0,392). Houve percepÃÃo de reduÃÃo pelos sujeitos do estudo (p=0,004). O nÃvel de satisfaÃÃo dos pacientes com o nariz teve um aumento mÃdio de 344%. ConclusÃo: A retificaÃÃo do dorso nasal, por meio de aumento do radix e da ponta, gera percepÃÃo de diminuiÃÃo do tamanho do nariz.

AbstractThe sedimentation problem is a hot issue currently affecting the operations of reservoirs and irrigation networks in Sudan. Most of the rivers that cross Sudanese borders come from the Eastern African Plateau, which acts as a sediment source for the Nile River and its tributaries. Khashm el-Girba Dam (KEGD), which crosses the Atbara River in Eastern Sudan, is a multipurpose dam that was constructed in 1964. The Atbara River is a branch of the Nile River system, and the river carries a large amount of sediment during the flood period. Seven years after construction, in 1970, the dam faced a critical problem that could have led to a disaster; it was discovered that, due to sediment deposition, the water storage was not enough to satisfy the downstream requirements. This study discusses the sediment management practices used in KEGD and their impacts on maintaining the reservoir capacity. Practices including operation policy (OP), trap efficiency (TE), sluicing, sediment sluicing, and flushing operation (FO) were discussed. The adopted management practices succeeded in removing a considerable amount of silt and maintaining the lifetime of the reservoir.

Introdução: dentre as doenças de depósito lisossomal (DLS) que ocorrem por mutações hereditárias autossômicas recessivas, as mucopolissacaridoses (MPS) podem ser classificadas em sete distúrbios de acumulo de glicosaminoglicanos. A síndrome de Morquio A (MPS IV-A), ocorre por atividade aberrante da enzima Nacetilgalactosamina 6-sulfatase, codificada pelo gene GALNS modificado com incidência de 1 entre 76.000 a 640.000 nascidos vivos. Os portadores da MPS IV-A apresentam displasias esqueléticas, face grosseira, baixa estatura, dores articulares e patologias cardiorrespiratórias, sendo que a terapia de reposição enzimática (TRE) com alfaelosulfase semanalmente é o protocolo aprovado. Embora não interrompa a evolução da doença, ocorre melhora na qualidade de vida dos portadores. Objetivo: promover triagem retrospectiva de MPS diagnosticadas no serviço de genética em um centro de referência no Norte Fluminense, no período de 2006 a 2022. Descrições: após aplicação metodológica escolhida, foram filtrados três pacientes em um total de 3.500 pacientes com sinais e sintomas clássicos de MPS e diagnóstico confirmado por exames bioquímicos de MPS IV-A. Primeiro relato: paciente masculino, 20 anos. Chegou ao serviço de genética aos 4 anos e 7 meses de idade no ano de 2006, portando exames com alterações compatíveis com MPS IV-A. Na revisão neonatal, foi relatado pela mãe do paciente internação prévia na unidade de terapia intensiva por comunicação interventricular com resolução espontânea. O exame quantitativo dos metabólitos de glicosaminoglicanos (GAG’s) na urina demonstra elevação na concentração com 171 mg GAG/mmol creatinina para a referência de 4-6 anos (<9,2 mg GAG/mmol creatinina). O sequenciamento do gene GALNS (16q24.3) revelou mutação missense no éxon 11. Ao exame físico, apresentava baixa estatura (100 cm), abdome globoso, encurtamento de membros, voz fina, macrocefalia (54 cm de perímetro cefálico), encurtamento de pescoço e membros superiores em antebraço, pés e mãos em valgo, flush de esclera, tórax encurtado, discreto afastamento dentário e déficit auditivo. Além disso, relatou artralgia intensa em joelho e quadril, apresentando limitação de marcha e dispneia. O desenvolvimento cognitivo mostrouse preservado. Após oito anos da primeira consulta, o paciente retornou com artralgia crônica, cansaço físico durante a anamnese e dois episódios de dor precordial. Aos 11 anos e 8 meses, o exame quantitativo dos GAG’s urinários manteve elevação com 8,34 mg GAG/mmol creatinina (<6,7 mgGAG/mmol creatinina, entre 10-15 anos). Entretanto, o tratamento com alfaelosulfase não foi realizado por perda de seguimento. Segundo relato: paciente feminina, 27 anos e 9 meses. Procurou o serviço de genética em 2013 aos 18 anos com diagnóstico prévio de MPS IV-A. Ao exame físico: baixa estatura (100 cm), pescoço encurtado, ponte nasal aumentada, dentes espaçados, tórax encurtado, pectus protuso, encurtamento dos membros superiores com proeminência bilateral dos antebraços, mãos displásicas com clinodactilia do quinto dedo, quadril e membros inferiores encurtados bilateralmente, pés displásicos com tortuosidade de dedos bilateralmente e voz anasalada com respiração forçada, mesmo em repouso. Por motivos burocráticos, a paciente interrompeu TRE e demonstrou piora significativa da clínica. Dois anos após, retornou com tosse e secreção purulenta, artralgia intensa em punhos, mãos, quadril e dorso. Após realização de radiografia torácica, tratou com amoxicilina por apresentar infiltrado pulmonar em hemitórax direito. Desde o início do tratamento a paciente interrompeu e reiniciou o tratamento em intervalos irregulares. Em 2019 retornou para consulta com o protocolo em pausa e as queixas pregressas mantidas. A paciente segue na terapia referida sem mudanças estatísticas em parâmetros antropométricos. Terceiro relato: paciente feminina, 9 anos e 10 meses. A primeira consulta ocorreu no ano de 2013 aos 5 meses de idade. Ao exame físico: mão em tridente, face discretamente grosseira, abdome globoso e hérnia umbilical. A hipótese diagnóstica de MPS foi direcionada pelo aumento dos índices de GAG’s urinários, pois os exames de dosagem de cariótipo G, quitotriosidase, e teste expandido do pezinho para estabelecer os diagnósticos diferenciais para as doenças de Prune – Belly e Gaucher foram não reagentes. Por esse motivo, a contraprova da elevação de GAG’s foi solicitada para dar início ao protocolo de reposição enzimática, em que o laudo retornou elevado, confirmando o achado. Em 2014, aos 9 meses de idade, iniciou o tratamento com alfaelosulfase após confirmação de MPS IV-A. Após dois anos, a avaliação antropométrica apresentava baixa estatura, discreto ganho de peso, displasia esquelética importante, aumento da ponte nasal, piora da face grosseria e pectus protruso, escoliose do tipo GIBA, braquidactilia, voz anasalada, roncos, dificuldades para dormir e espessamento discreto do primeiro quirodáctilo. A mãe da paciente relatava melhora nas complicações respiratórias, com alívio do cansaço e diminuições dos roncos, porém observava-se o início das displasias esqueléticas. Em 2016, aumentou-se a dose do tratamento, sendo que, por intercorrências no agendamento da reposição enzimática, ficou aproximadamente quarenta e oito semanas sem TRE e desenvolveu um quadro de infecção respiratória evoluindo para unidade de terapia intensiva (UTI) com recidivas esporádicas nos dois anos seguintes. A paciente seguiu com consultas de acompanhamento e em sua avaliação física no ano de 2020, apresentava discreto crescimento em estatura (104 cm) e, no ano seguinte, 107 cm. Até o dia de hoje mantem o uso de TRE. Conclusão: os pacientes encontrados pela triagem demonstraram clínicas semelhantes e compatíveis com os dados literários sobre os indivíduos já diagnosticados com a Síndrome de Morquio IV-A. Pode-se observar que a paciente do índice três, a qual iniciou a terapia de forma mais precoce, teve relativo crescimento em altura, comparada aos outros pacientes encontrados. Vale ressaltar que, ao interromper a terapia, os pacientes dois e três desenvolveram infecções respiratórias, demonstrando a necessidade de se manter a TRE para prevenção e estabilização dos quadros respiratórios. Os casos relatados são poucos para definir prevalência da síndrome no município, no entanto, apontam a suma importância do trabalho de rastreio, diagnóstico precoce das doenças genéticas e implementação do tratamento que é promovido pelo serviço de genética. A triagem dos casos auxiliou na análise da evolução dos sintomas e da qualidade de vida dos pacientes após TRE.
