ABSTRACT Introduction: There are many internal and external factors (like chronotype, stress, gender, and level of activity) that may affect athletes performances. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between chronotype, perceived stress, and gender in Bulgarian sports students. Methodology: In total, 29 male and female university students were surveyed using the Horne and Ostberg Morningness and Eveningness questionnaire (1976) and the Perceived Stress Scale (1983). We know that there is a bidirectional association between sleep duration/quality and depressive symptoms in youth. In adult populations depressive symptoms and circadian rhythms (sleep chronotype) have also been linked.
