Primárním cílem studie je popsat trendy v českém výzkumu v didaktice biologie, geologie a environmentální výchovy v období mezi lety 2008–2018. Sekundárním poté komparace těchto trendů se zjištěními učiněnými zahraničními autory při rozboru národních i mezinárodních výzkumů v oblasti didaktik přírodních věd, zejména biologie. Pro naplnění tohoto cíle byla provedena obsahová analýza 148 textů daného zaměření vydaných v časopisech se standardním recenzním řízením. Metodologická studie na konkrétních ukázkách z učebnic češtiny jako cizího jazyka popisuje různorodé funkce, které mohou být realizovány vizuálními prostředky. Pozornost je věnována vztahu vizuálních prostředků a verbálního textu, jejich vzájemné komplementaritě a přínosnosti pro pochopení předávaných informací i jejich uchování v paměti. Dále článek poukazuje na nezbytnost vzdělávání autorů učebnic, učitelů i žáků a studentů v oblasti vizuální gramotnosti, tak aby dokázali vizuální prostředky co nejefektivněji didaktizovat a využívat, případně sami vytvářet. Strategickým cílem výzkumu, jehož součástí je tato přehledová studie, je reï¬ektovat vývoj a současný stav didaktiky fyziky (physics education research, dále PER). Cílem této studie je podat přehled metod sběru dat, a podpořit tak diskuzi o metodách výzkumu využívaných v této oblasti. K řešení výzkumného problému byl použit kvalitativní přístup a za metodu sběru dat obsahová analýza výzkumných sdělení.
