On the example of the mural Der Weg der Roten Fahne (The Path of the Red Flag) installed at the western façade of the Kulturpalast Dresden(Palace of Culture in Dresden) the author analyses the necessity of the mural as an immanent element to communicate political decisions of the German Democratic Republic's government to the public by using architecture. Up until now the mural reinforces the political value of the International Style building in function and shape and links its volume to the urban layout.

Abstract Age is an important prognostic factor in cutaneous melanoma, which commonly arises in the elderly. Melanoma progression is the concerted outcome of cellular and molecular changes that occur not just within the tumor cells but also within the milieu of the stromal cells (fibroblasts, immune cells, adipocytes), collectively referred to as the tumor microenvironment (TME). Moreover, TME-secreted growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular matrix (ECM) are vital to tumor progression and therapy resistance. Aging causes remodeling of the TME that becomes conducive to melanoma progression.

A major problem with the vast majority of previous studies is that young mice (8-weeks old, equivalent to 20 human years) are used to investigate the mechanisms of metastatic outgrowth, whereas the median age of melanoma diagnosis in humans is ∼65 years. Advanced age also correlates with metastasis, mortality, and immune dysfunction. Our aim was to investigate whether URIC also plays a role in Meige’s syndrome (MS). We conducted a cohort study to compare serum URIC levels between patients with MS and healthy controls. In addition, we analyzed the impact of URIC on the risk of MS and symptom severity. Compared with normal subjects, URIC content was remarkably decreased in MS patients. In addition, URIC was regarded as a protective factor for MS, as verified by multivaria

Accurate diagnosis through genetic testing and precise electrode placement may significantly improve motor symptoms and quality of life of patients with gene-associated dystonia. This report presents a rare KMT2B-related dystonia case managed with bilateral pallidal deep brain stimulation (DBS) in an 8-year-old girl. The patient presented with muscle contractions on the distal parts of the lower limbs, speech impairment, and myoclonic jerking movements. Genomic sequencing identified a heterozygous mutation

Abstract The role of neurodegeneration in essential tremor (ET) remains debated, particularly in patients with late disease onset. Neuropathological studies have identified structural changes in the Purkinje cells and its connections. Recent studies additionally suggested a role of cerebellar astrocytes. Increased levels of serum glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP), an astrocytic intermediate filament, were found in various neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases. The objective of this case–control study was to investigate the role of sGFAP in ET focusing on early-stage late-onset

Furthermore, it also remains unknown how seabird nutrient subsidies impact biodiversity, productivity, and recolonisation rates in UK rocky intertidal systems.
