The proposed novel four-switch three-phase (FSTP) inverter is to design to reduce the rate, difficulty, mass, and switching losses of the DC-AC conversion system. Here the output line voltage cannot exceed half the input voltage in the out-dated FSTP inverter and it operates at half the DC input voltage. Single-Ended Primary-Inductance Converter (SEPIC) is a novel design for the FSTP inverter proposed in this paper. In this proposed topology the necessity of output filters is not necessary for the pure sinusoidal output voltage. Related to out-dated FSTP inverter, the proposed FSTP SEPIC inverter raises the voltage utilization aspect of the input DC supply, where the suggested topology delivers the higher output line voltage which can be extended up to the full value of the DC input voltage. In the proposed topology a control used called the integral sliding-mode (ISM) control and this control is used to enhance its dynamics and to ensure strength of the system during different operating conditions. Simulation model and results are used to authorise the proposed concept and simulations results show the effectiveness of the proposed inverter.

Fractal and fractal-rate stochastic point processes (FSPPs and FRSPPs) provide useful models for describing a broad range of diverse phenomena, including electron transport in amorphous semiconductors, computer-network traffic, and sequences of neuronal action potentials. A particularly useful statistic of these processes is the fractal exponent α, which may be estimated for any FSPP or FRSPP by using a variety of statistical methods. Simulated FSPPs and FRSPPs consistently exhibit bias in this fractal exponent, however, rendering the study and analysis of these processes non-trivial. In this paper, we examine the synthesis and estimation of FRSPPs by carrying out a systematic series of simulations for several different types of FRSPP over a range of design values for α. The discrepancy between the desired and achieved values of α is shown to arise from finite data size and from the character of the point-process generation mechanism. In the context of point-process simulation, reduction of this discrepancy requires generating data sets with either a large number of points, or with low jitter in the generation of the points. In the context of fractal data analysis, the results presented here suggest caution when interpreting fractal exponents estimated from experimental data sets.

Copper-based surface composite dispersed with varying fractions of hybrid reinforcement was fabricated through friction stir processing (FSP). Hybrid reinforcement particles were prepared from aluminum nitride (AIN) and boron nitride (BN) particles of equal weight proportion. Based on design of experiments, wear characteristics of the developed copper surface composites were estimated using pin-on-disk tribometer. Experimental parameters include volumetric fraction of hybrid reinforcement particles (5, 10, and 15 vol %), load (10, 20, 30 N), sliding velocity (1, 1.5, and 2 m/s), and sliding distance (500, 1000, and 1500 m). Microstructural characterization demonstrated uniform dispersion of hybrid reinforcement particles onto the copper surface along with good bonding. Hardness of the developed surface composites increased with respect to increase in hybrid particle dispersion when compared with copper substrate while a reduction in density values was revealed. Analysis on wear rate values proved that wear rate decreased with increase in hybrid particle dispersion and increased with increase in load, sliding velocity, and distance. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) specified load as the most significant factor over wear rate values followed by volume fractions of particle dispersion, sliding velocity, and distance. Regression model constructed was found efficient in predicting wear rate values. Analysis of worn out surfaces through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed the transition of severe to mild wear with respect to increase in hybrid reinforcement particle dispersion. A feed forward back propagation algorithm-based artificial neural network (ANN) model with topology 4-7-1 was developed to predict wear rate of copper surface composites based on its control factors.

Electric Vehicles is call for today and tomorrow and induction motor drives are best chosen for the motional part in the system because of their enormous advantages. Three phase inverter fed induction motor drives are being used in the vehicles that have been made yet and research are still going to reduce the cost and complexity along with increased reliability to meet it at consumer ends without compromising its performance. In this dissertation an effort is made to reduce the cost of system by utilizing four-switch three phase inverter to feed induction motor drive. Also if conventional six switch inverter system incurred a fault in any one leg then shifting the motor load to four switch three phase alternatives would increase the reliability to great extent. Performance analysis for three induction motor drives with FS3P topology is presented along with the comparison between the conventional six-switch and proposed four switch inverter is made and discussed. Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation technique is used in proposed topology to produce three phase voltages at the output of four switch inverter, also SVPWM has advantages like better DC voltage utilization, Switching losses reduction and easier digital implementation. The validity of FS3P topology and performance of induction motor drives is verified by simulated results and MATLAB/SIMULINK platform has been utilized for simulation purpose.

Several industrial applications require devices to operate in two or more phases with single degree of freedom motion in each phase. Variable topology mechanisms meet such requirements, one typical application of such devices being in circuit breakers. In this paper we discuss the synthesis of such devices for a variety (FSP, ISP and MSP) of motion specifications. The loci of pivots are determined.
