AbstractAre or should the assumptions, methods, and aims of philosophy be scientific or humanistic? I take Quine to represent the view that if philosophy is done as it should be, it is scientific. A contrary view is that philosophy rightly pursued is humanistic. I consider Williams' defense of it. My aim in this paper is to show that each view is partly right and partly wrong and to propose an alternative that includes what I take to be right and excludes what I take to be wrong in both views.

Annotation:

Present article proposes the application of the concept of entropy in the study of the environmental impacts created by a city. It was taken a strictly thermodynamic approach of cities as heat sinks that generate entropy. The formalism of caloric field theory was adopted to establish the relationship between entropy caused by thermal exchanges and the physical environmental parameters considered. The notion of evolutional global time was introduced in order to treat entropy more objectively in the context of thermodynamics. A table with the rates of change of entropy in some cities was set.

Feature selection is one of the core contents of rough set theory and application. Since the reduction ability and classification performance of many feature selection algorithms based on rough set theory and its extensions are not ideal, this paper proposes a feature selection algorithm that combines the information theory view and algebraic view in the neighborhood decision system. First, the neighborhood relationship in the neighborhood rough set model is used to retain the classification information of continuous data, to study some uncertainty measures of neighborhood information entropy.
