SUMMARYIn a field experiment, the effects of irrigating crops alternately with sodic water (high in sodium adsorption ratio and ) and good quality canal water were investigated for six years on a well drained sandy loam (Typic Ustochrept). The irrigation treatments included: irrigation with non-sodic canal water (CW), irrigation with sodic water (SW), CW irrigation alternating with one or two SW irrigations, and two CW irrigations alternating with one SW irrigation. The results showed that the use of sodic water increased the sodium saturation of the soil and decreased rice and wheat yields. T

Irrigation delivery organizations play an important role in the agricultural sector, particularly in the Western United States where nearly half of all water applied as irrigation comes from an off-farm source. These organizations manage and operate extensive water storage and conveyance infrastructure to divert, store, and deliver water to support irrigated agricultural production. Understanding how these organizations measure water flows within their systems and price water deliveries could help achieve water conservation objectives for the irrigated sector. Accurate and timely water measure

Irrigating crops with reclaimed wastewater, replacing potable water, using drip irrigation has become more common as demands on water supplies have increased. Because of the quality characteristics of treated wastewater, the small size and geometry of drip emitters, and flow characteristics though the emitters, systems can become clogged for physical and biological reasons. Emitters clogging reduces flow and increases the variability of flows between emitters that can lead to crops water stress and thus reduce crop yield. Clogged systems require more energy or more labor- and chemical-intensiv
