Urban heat island (UHI) effect becomes hot spot in the field of urban climatology in the recent decades. Two sampling belts on the Landsat TM/ETM+ image across the center point of main urban area of shenyang were selected along the E-W and S-N directions in order to analyse the characteristics of UHI effect and discuss the relationships between LST and UHI source or sink.
