All’interno del grande problema metodologico sul rapporto tra Logica e Realphilosophie, Hegel identifica come realmente scientifica la comprensione della relazione tra Begriff e Vorstellung, in cui si tratta della rappresentazione come strumento categoriale dove il pensiero è immerso nell’alterità. A partire dalla necessità metodologica di un nesso sistematico tra rappresentazione e concetto, costitutivo di una logica combinatoria, il presente contributo si propone di comprendere quali ragioni sistematico-concettuali hanno portato Hegel nell’Enciclopedia delle scienze filosofiche in compendio (nelle sue edizioni più tarde: 1827,1830) a una rivalutazione della rappresentazione in quanto materia indispensabile e condizione necessaria per la conoscenza. La ripresa hegeliana della Vorstellung come sinonimo del logico immerso nell’alterità porterà a interrogarsi sul modo in cui la nozione di Übersetzung sia idonea a esprimere quella delicata azione svolta dalla coscienza nell’atto di far assumere ai propri contenuti una forma filosofica, consentendo di comprendere tutti i gradi della Realphilosophie come momenti di una logica della rappresentazione. Muovendo da tali osservazioni sarà necessario domandarsi se e in che senso la logica combinatoria possa essere considerata una semplice trasposizione del concetto nella rappresentazione o la messa in atto della componente concettuale che nella rappresentazione si volge all’esperienza.   Within the methodological problem of the relationship between Logic and Realphilosophie, Hegel identifies as truly scientific the understanding of the relationship between Begriff and Vorstellung. In that relationship, representation is treated as a categorical instrument where thought is immersed in otherness. Starting from the methodological necessity of a systematic link between representation and concept, constitutive of a combinatory logic, the present contribution aims to understand what systemic-conceptual reasons led Hegel in the Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences in Compendium (in its later editions: 1827,1830) to a re-evaluation of representation as an indispensable subject and necessary condition for knowledge. The Hegelian revival of Vorstellung as a synonym for the logical immersed in otherness will then lead to questioning how the notion of Übersetzung is suitable for expressing that delicate action performed by consciousness in the act of making its contents take on a philosophical form, making it possible to understand all the degrees of the Realphilosophie as moments of a logic of representation. On the basis of these observations, it will finally be necessary to ask whether and in what sense combinatorial logic can be considered as a simple transposition of the concept into representation or as the implementation of the conceptual component that in representation turns to experience.

Abstract Logica modernorum. A critical note on Habermas’s portrait of medieval philosophy In his monumental history of philosophy, the eminent scholar Jürgen Habermas has managed to provide us with a thorough and very nuanced overview of thousands of years of western thought. The famous philosopher paints an impressive picture of the vicissitudes of the modernisation processes featuring in the history of western philosophy. The Leitmotiv of Habermas’s narrative is the way in which throughout history philosophy dealt with the question concerning the relationship between faith and reason. When it comes to the Middle Ages, it is not surprising that Habermas should focus on the opposition between Thomas Aquinas and William of Ockham. However, by confining himself to the concepts of fides and ratio, he completely overlooks thirteenth-century developments in the domain of logic. To take note of these developments is fundamental to understand the process of modernisation in philosophy. The aim of this paper is to fill in the gap, by concentrating on thirteenth-century discussions of necessity and (logical) consequences.

I discuss the views on logic held by three early Nordic neo-Aristotelians — the Swedes Johannes Canuti Lenaeus (1573–1669) and Johannes Rudbeckius (1581–1646), and the Dane Caspar Bartholin (1585–1629). They all studied in Wittenberg (enrolled respectively in 1597, 1601, and 1604) and were exponents of protestant (Lutheran) scholasticism. The works I utilize are Janitores logici bini (1607) and Enchiridion logicum (1608) by Bartholin; Logica (1625) and Controversiae logices (1629) by Rudbeckius; and Logica peripatetica (1633) by Lenaeus. Rudbeckius’s and Lenaeus’s books were published much later than they were prepared. Rudbeckius wrote the first versions of his books in 1606, and the material for Lenaeus’s book had been prepared by 1607. Bartholin calls the treatment of the nature of logic the “first doorkeeper of logic”. To compare the views of the three neo-Aristotelians on this topic, I systematically investigate what they have to say about second notions, the subject of logic, the internal and external goal of logic, and the definition of logic. I also compare their approaches with those of Jacob Martini (teacher of Rudbeckius and Bartholin) and Iacopo Zabarella (an intellectual predecessor of all three).

La componente logico-cognitiva si esprime soprattutto attraverso l'attivitŕ interpretativa all'interno della quale sono presenti implicitamente anche aspetti affettivi; reciprocamente, gli interventi non-interpretativi non mancano mai di una componente logica o cognitiva. Questa č legata alle varie teorie a cui facciamo riferimento e alla conoscenza del paziente, e soprattutto al terapeuta e al controtransfert in quel particolare momento della terapia. Vengono presi in considerazione il significato logico-affettivo del setting, la logica del processo interpretativo, e infine il significato delle "azioni affettive". In particolare viene differenziato il significato delle "azioni affettive" rispetto agli enactment e ai piů generici interventi supportivi. AbstractIn an article published in 2003, Klaus Jacobi—using texts partially edited in De Rijk's Logica Modernorum—demonstrated that twelfth-century logic contains a tradition of reflecting about some of the transcendental names (nomina transcendentia). In addition to reinforcing Jacobi's thesis with other texts, this contribution aims to demonstrate two points: 1) That twelfth-century logical reflection about transcendental terms has its origin in the logica vetus, and especially in a passage from Porphyry Isagoge and in Boethius's commentary on it. In spite of the loss of the major part of the Aristotelian corpus, the twelfth-century masters in logic still received some Aristotelian theses concerning the notions of one and being via Porphyry and Boethius; on the basis of such theses, they were able to elaborate a sort of proto-theory of the transcendentals as trans-categorical terms. 2) That this theory is centred on the idea that there exists a particular group of names which have the property that they can be said of everything; this group includes "being", "one", "thing" and "something" (ens, unum, res, aliquid). Twelfth-century masters in logic try to question the (originally Aristotelian) thesis that these terms are equivocal, although they do not deny it completely.

Abstract This paper investigates the basis arguments of so-called legal logic and their relation to logic in its standard meaning. There is no doubt that legal arguments belong to logic in the wide sense (sensu largo), but their reduction to schemes of formal logic (logica sensu stricto) is a controversial issue. It can be demonstrated that only some legal arguments fall under explicit rules of formal logic, that is, having a deductive character. Most such reasoning is fallible, and its correctness depends on appealing to extra-logical principles taken from legal norms. For instance, if we say, “If it is permitted more, then it is permitted less” (argumentum a maiori ad minus), we assume that the concepts expressed by the words “more” and “less” are already defined.

Abstract Jan Dullaert (1480-1513) was a direct student of John Mair and a teacher of Gaspar Lax, Juan de Celaya, and Juan Luis Vives. His commentary on Aristotle’s Peri Hermeneias addresses the foundations of propositional logic, including a detailed analysis of conditionals (following Paul of Venice’s Logica magna) and the semantics of logical connectives (conjunction, disjunction, and implication). Dullaert’s propositional logic is limited to the immediate implications of the semantics of these connectives, i.e., their introduction and elimination rules. In the same context, he discusses several alternative treatments of semantic paradoxes, paying most attention to the approaches derived from Martin Le Maistre (based on the idea that sentential meaning is closed under entailment) and John Mair (based on the idea that self-falsifying sentences are false).

The pragmatic conception of truth, anticipated by Henry David Thoreau and developed by C.S. Peirce and subsequent pragmatists, is proposed as a useful analogy for characterising ‘sustainability’. Peirce's definition of ‘truth’ provides an attractive approach to sustainability because (a) it re-focuses discussions of truth and objectivity from a search for ‘correspondence’ to an ‘external world’ (the ‘conform’ approach) to a more forward-looking (‘transform') approach; and (b) it emphasises the crucial role of an evolving, questioning community in the conduct of inquiry. Any successful definition of sustainability must share these characteristics with Peircean truth. While Peirce and John Dewey never reconciled their disagreements regarding the nature and task of ‘inquiry’, a pragmatist resolution of their differences is offered, arguing that we need both a logic of management sciences (logica utens) and a logic of pure science ( logica docens), which (perhaps among other differences) respond very differently to uncertainty. It is shown that adaptive management – an important approach to environmental management – can be understood as a first approximation of a logica utens for social learning in pursuit of solutions to environmental problems, and it is suggested that a pragmatist, transform approach to inquiry such as Dewey's may provide a way around the ‘fact-value’ gulf.

Si nota tuttavia un paradosso: chi vuole dare una versione logica del processo lo considera per ciň stesso concepito da una intuizione positiva, accettabile come intuizione pre-matematica; chi insiste sulla costruzione vuole mantenere vincoli che derivano dall'interpretazione come attivitŕ umana, e tende perciň paradossalmente a diffidare dell'intuizione quando essa porta con la fantasia al di lŕ delle operazioni realmente ammissibili.

Murner offers a type of “flash cards” that illustrate much of the teaching of logic at the beginning of the sixteenth century. The first impression is visual, because the cards do not contain words that illustrate their content. Murner’s exposition rests on analogies between logic themes that are explained and the visual images presented.

AbstractFrom the interaction among areas such as Computer Science, Formal Logic, and Automated Deduction arises an important new subject called Logic Programming. This has been used continuously in the theoretical study and practical applications in various fields of Artificial Intelligence. After the emergence of a wide variety of non-classical logics and the understanding of the limitations presented by first-order classical logic, it became necessary to consider logic programming based on other types of reasoning in addition to classical reasoning. A type of reasoning that has been well studied is the paraconsistent, that is, the reasoning that tolerates contradictions. However, although there are many paraconsistent logics with different types of semantics, their application to logic programming is more delicate than it first appears, requiring an in-depth study of what can or cannot be transferred directly from classical first-order logic to other types of logic.Based on studies of Tarcisio Rodrigues on the foundations of Paraconsistent Logic Programming (2010) for some Logics of Formal Inconsistency (LFIs), this thesis intends to resume the research of Rodrigues and place it in the specific context of LFIs with three- and four-valued semantics. This kind of logics are interesting from the computational point of view, as presented by Luiz Silvestrini in his Ph.D. thesis entitled “A new approach to the concept of quase-truth” (2011), and by Marcelo Coniglio and Martín Figallo in the article “Hilbert-style presentations of two logics associated to tetravalent modal algebras” [Studia Logica (2012)]. O objetivo deste artigo foi realizar a analise logica do Programa Mais Medicos (PMM) a partir dos pressupostos da literatura de analise de politicas públicas, em que foi proposto um modelo logico de avaliação e implementação. O PMM foi instituido em 2013 para enfrentar o problema da ma distribuicao de medicos e contribuir para fixação dos mesmos em localidades de maior escassez e vulnerabilidade social. Para a analise logica, realizou-se pesquisa documental e bibliografica. A construção do modelo baseou-se em duas referencias de modelagem de programas. As atividades do PMM foram agrupadas em tres eixos de ação: provimento emergencial, educação e infraestrutura. Para cada um desses eixos, mapeou-se as possibilidades de aperfeicoamento, bem como as areas de possiveis ajustes na implementação. Em suma, os resultados indicam a possibilidade de avalicao da intervencao, bem como, importantes licoes aprendidas a partir da implementação do PMM

Abstract In this essay I argue that Albert would reject the need for a separate fourth mode of common personal supposition, and that his view of merely confused supposition has not been fully explicated by modern scholars. I first examine the various examples of conjunct descent given by modern scholars from his Perutilis logica, and show that Albert clearly adopts it in resolving the sophistic examples involved. Second, I explicate the view of merely confused supposition that Albert defends in his Sophismata, and then attempt to answer the question: which view of merely confused supposition was his final view, the view articulated in the Perutilis logica or the view in the Sophismata? I conclude that based upon his Sophismata view of merely confused supposition, Albert came to realize the logical strength his revised theory of personal supposition afforded, and consequently, that he is one of the earliest 14th-century logicians to adopt conjunct terminal descent to resolve various sophisms, a move which gave his theory of personal supposition a logical symmetry having two sorts of propositional descents to singulars, and two sorts of terminal descents to singulars.

This research aimed to determine the impact of the use of e-procurement technology and the use of e-procurement technology on the procurement performance at PT. VivaStor Techno Logica. The method used in this research consisted of three phases. The first stage is the study of literature that aims to deepen the knowledge about the topic of e-procurement and electronic procurement system (SPSE) on the Electronic Procurement Service (LPSE Ministry of Finance). The second stage was distributing questionnaires, which aims to obtain primary data from companies. The last step was observe the e-procurement business processes that are running on the website LPSE. The samples in this study using purposive sampling technique (judgment sampling). Questionnaires were distributed to users of e-procurement PT. VivaStor Techno Logica, then distributed questionnaires to 30 respondents. The results showed that the usage of e-procurement technology gives effect to the procurement practice at VivaStor Techno Logica; e-procurement technology usage has influences on procurement performance at PT. VivaStor Techno Logica; and procurement practices gives effect to procurement performance at PT. VivaStor Techno Logica. Abstract The identification of two possible readings – de re and de dicto – of modal claims is considered one of the greatest achievements of Abelard’s logic. In the Dialectica and the Logica “Ingredientibus,” Abelard uses this distinction as a basis for his modal semantics and theory of modalities. Rather than focusing on Abelard’s own theory, the aim of this article is to pay attention to a number of sources that – like Abelard’s logical works – are datable to the first decades of the twelfth century, to investigate whether the de re–de dicto distinction was already adopted and debated in them. It argues that, even if there is no systematic theorization of the distinction in these sources, Abelard’s contemporaries put forward a number of questions concerning the syntax and the signification of modal claims that contributed to set the stage for the distinction’s identification and later development.

La proposta contenuta in questo articolo č stata elaborata impiegando il modello di business process re-engineering dell'Action Workflow, che interpreta ogni processo aziendale come interazione e ne evidenzia gli aspetti relazionali. L'articolo presenta poi la fase esplorativa di una ricerca volta a verificare se le aziende adottano una logica analitica e razionale oppure processuale e relazionale per pianificare la comunicazione, realizzata attraverso lo studio di caso Henkel Italia. Nelle conclusioni discute alcune implicazioni manageriali e per la ricerca futura.

- This article shows the influence of the Aristotelian Paul Rabe on Immanuel Kant's philosophy. In the first part, I reconstruct the status quaestions regarding Rabe in Aristotelian studies and in Kantforschung. The second part looks at Rabe's life and works. It is demonstrated in the third part that Kant's definition of dialectic as Logik des Scheins comes from Rabe's definition of dialectic as logica ex apparentibus. The fourth part shows the Aristotelian origin of Kant's doctrine of categories and schema and the fifth analyses the meaning of Rabe's Analytica and its legacy in Kant. In the sixth section, the Aristotelian distinction kat'anthropon-kat'aletheian is examined in Rabe and Kant. The conclusion suggests that the chapter "Idee einer transzendentalen Logik" in Kritik der reinen Vernunft is an Einladungsschrift and that Kant became acquainted with Aristotle's writings mainly between 1766 and 1772 when he was librarian at the Schlossbibliothek in Königsberg.

In een tweetal artikelen in dit tijdschrift heeft Henk Geertsema aandacht besteed aan de Utrechtse wijsgerige theologie. In het eerste artikel concentreerde hij zich op de bundel Hoe is Uw Naam?, terwijl hij in het tweede vooral ingaat op het werk van Vincent Brümmer. De scheiding is echter niet zo strikt; ook in het artikel over Brümmer komt Geertsema veelvuldig over Hoe is Uw Naam? te spreken. In deze reactie wil ik ingaan op Geertsema’s kritiek op de wijze waarop Gijsbert van den Brink en ondergetekende in Hoe is Uw Naam? twee criteria voor de wijsgerige theologie (consistentie en coherentie) bespreken, en deze reactie concretiseren door de meer theoretische opmerkingen toe te passen op een voorbeeld dat Geertsema zelf ter sprake brengt, dat van het berouw van God. Daarbij zal ik uitgaan van enkele passages die Geertsema in zijn artikel over Brümmer aan Hoe is Uw Naam? wijdt.
