Les Routes de la soie historiques qui ont relié l’Orient et l’Occident pendant des siècles ont de tout temps revêtu des dimensions politiques, économiques, et culturelles fondamentales. Il est intéressant d’assister à la réactivation de ces routes, par la Chine notamment, au moment même où les héritiers des trois autres empires historiques de ces routes (ottoman, perse, et russe) ressurgissent sous de nouvelles formes et s’inscrivent dans une histoire sur la longue durée. On peut se poser la question de savoir si cette réémergence des Routes de la soie contribuera à un équilibre des puissances producteur de paix ou se révèlera un élément de perturbation de plus dans un monde déjà en profonde reconfiguration. Une chose semble avérer : l’existence passée et présente des routes de la soie acte la position périphérique qu’occupe l’Europe dans l’espace eurasiatique. Dans un premier temps nous reviendrons sur les imaginaires liés aux routes de la soie afin de mettre en contexte le rôle finalement marginal que l’Europe a pu jouer. Dans un deuxième temps, nous verrons comment les routes actuelles contribuent également à une périphérisation de l’Europe.

La lutte est une mise en jeu de la force entre deux antagonistes qui tentent de se maîtriser dans un corps-à corps. Cette activité physique au principe simple est présente dans une majorité de cultures sous des formes élaborées. Elle constitue un motif imaginaire, représentant les oppositions fondamentales des mythes ou est organisée sous forme rituelle, pour que son résultat augure de la prospérité collective. Les « styles » de lutte, formes durables et localisées, correspondent à définition de la force dans les cultures et les civilisations, prenant en compte un idéal imaginaire et une construction fine desavoirs pratiques dans un système règlementaire cohérent et stimulant.En complément d’une présence universelle et de pratiques locales et originales, il est possible de rapprocher certains styles disposant de caractéristiques similaires, ce qui montre une diffusion de la lutte sur la longue durée. Les formes élaborées ont une distribution géographique régulière, correspondant aux routes de circulation de culture. Sur les routes de la soie, les styles se sont diffusés tout en se distinguant progressivement. Le long de la « Route celtique », ils ont connu une histoire complexe d’identification et de réunion, influençant même la synthèse de styles internationaux.La lutte, sur la base d’une formule d’opposition simple et modifiable, a été finement élaborée, développée en desstructures sociales plus complexes, et véhiculée le long des routes de culture. Ce cheminement sur la longue durée illustre la constitution du sport comme objet de culture, et montre comment l’ancrage du jeu et sa diffusion contribuent à créer et à enrichir la construction du sport
Wrestling is a play of strength between two antagonists who aim to master each other in a hand-to-hand opposition. The principle of this activity is fairly simple and well known in a majority of cultures and civilizations. It can be found in different elaborated forms. Wrestling symbolizes an imaginary representation of the fundamental opposition in mythology or acts as a ritual challenge in which the outcome foreshadows the collective wealth. Each wrestling style corresponds to one culture’s definition of the Strength concept, which takes into account an ideal imaginary, and a subtle construction of practical knowledge in a consistent and stimulating rules system.In addition to a universal presence and local original practices, we can easily notice similarities between styles and a wide set of common characteristics. It illustrates and implies a long-term diffusion. Elaborated forms have a steady geographical distribution, which corresponds to the roads of cultural circulation. Along the Silk Road styles spread out while they gradually evolved and grew apart. On the “Celtic Road” they experienced a complex History of identification and meeting that influenced the synthesis of international styles.Wrestling is an elementary and flexible system that has been deeply developed in more complex forms and spread out along the culture roads. This long-term progression illustrates the cultural character of sport and shows how its rooting and diffusion contribute into enriching the sport construction

Ces situations ont donne a la bulgarie une part non negligeable dans la construction des civilisations eurasiennes. - le troisieme aborde la question cruciale de ce qui reste de la grandeur passee de la bulgarie evoquee dans les deux premiers tomes. La question est d'actualite avec les bouleversements a l'est et le besoin vital de cohesion nationale pour le redressement du pays
The undertaken study is articulated in three parts : - the first part established the fact of bulgaria as a land of passage and accounter. Various kinds of travellers crossed the country (men, goods, ideas, knowledges ans believes). Most of them have their stone to the bulgarian construction to become what it is today - the second part shows that these travellers, during their transit did not just only pass by, their transit through bulgaria did impress them deeply before continuing their trip. These situations gave the country a certain share in the building of eurasian civilisations - the third brings up the vital question of the remains of bulgarian past glory (evocated in the two first parts). The questions is very actual with the changes in the east and the vital need od national cohesion for the rebuilding of the country

Cette thèse, qui s'appuie sur ma pratique artistique personnelle, analyse l'identité, l'origine, la valeur et la place de la main dans l'art en sillonnant l'ancienne Route de la soie. J'étudie mon parcours de création artistique, ma culture, mes identités multiples et mes influences au regard de l'héritage légué par La Roule de la soie et la route de La création. La traversée de la Route de la soie s'articule autour de quatre thèmes: la rencontre, le contact, le croisement et la frontière. Les recherches m'ont mené sur un voyage messianique dans le but de répondre aux questions qui me hantaient: l'influence étendue de la Route de la soie sur la création artistique est-elle source de créativité? Comment peut-elle se révéler dans les œuvres d'artistes contemporains? La route de ma création artistique se croise-t-elle avec la Route de la soie? Pour répondre à ces questions, j'ai présenté ma main comme une figure qui me lie à mes origines invisibles. Dans le premier chapitre, j'explore la notion d’identité à travers les portraits de la main, puis j'étudie la notion de frontière visible et invisible. Dans le troisième chapitre, j'analyse le toucher, le goûter et le croisement avec la Route de la soie. Enfin, j'examine le contexte des paysages intérieurs et je tente de mettre en lumière l'héritage caché ainsi que les secrets de l'art local imprégné par la culture de notre région et ce à travers les croisements et les métissages culturels
Relying on my personal artistic practice, this thesis analyzes the identity, origin, the value and the place of the "band" in the art in weaving through the old Silk Road. The analysis of my artistic creation, my culture, my multiple identities and my influences in the light of the legacy of the Silk Road and the road of the creation. The crossing of the Silk Road is structured around four themes : the meeting, contact. The crossing and the border. The research led me on a messianic trip, in the aim of finding answers to the questions that concern me : how the Silk Road influences artistic creation, is it a source of creativity? How can it be in the works of contemporary artists? How it emerges on my artistic creation? To answer these questions, I presented my band as a figure, which binds me to my multiple origins. In the first chapter I will analyze the concept of identity through the portraits of the band, then I will look into the notion of border visible and invisible. In the third chapter, I will analyze the touch, the taste and the crossing with the Silk Road. Finally, I will examine the context of interior landscapes and I will try to demonstrate the hidden legacy as well as the secrets of the local art impregnated in the culture of our region through crosses and cultural mixes

Dans la perspective generale des routes de la soie, cette etude etudie la representation cartographique de sri lanka en la mettant en relation avec les recits des voyageurs des routes de la soie dans l'ile. On examine d'abord les circonstances historiques dans lesquelles sri lanka s'est integree aux axes majeurs des routes de la soie et le dialogue etabli entre elle et les voyageurs qui ont visite l'ile ou l'ont evoquee en visitant l'inde, depuis les tout premiers contacts rapportes du temps pre-chretien jusqu'a la renaissance. On essaie ensuite de determiner la contribution de l'ile au developpement de la civilisation a travers l'echange de valeurs culturelles ou philosophiques et d'idees religieuses dont temoignent la litterature geographique et cartographique et les recits de voyages. Favorablement situee au centre d'un reseau des routes maritimes importantes a travers l'ocean indien, sri lanka fut pendant plusieurs siecles un havre pour les voyageurs des routes de la soie venus de trois regions differentes : le monde mediterraneen, les contrees des arabes et la terre des chinois. Dans les recits de voyages qui se rapportent aux routes de la soie, sri lanka est presente dans la periode que le projet de la decennie culturelle envisage d'inclure dans sa perspective. As a preliminary of an associated project this thesis intends to make a modest contribution to the unesco project launched within the framework of the international decade of cultural development : integral study of silk roads - roads of dialogue. In the general perspective of the significance of the silk roads in the history of human civilization the thesis will endeavour to re-evaluate the cartographic representation of sri lanka in relation to the accounts of silk road travellers. In doing so it will examine initially the historical cicumstances in which sri lanka entered into the main stream of the silk roads and the dialogue established between her and silk road travellers who visited the island since the earliest recorded contacts of the pre-christian times up to the later middle ages. Finally it will seek to determine the contribution she made to the development of human civilization through the dialogue of exchange in cultural values, philosophical and religious ideas etc. . . , to which geographic and cartographic literature bear witness. Dans les discours des institutions internationales et nationales les technologies d'information et de communication sont souvent présentées comme un outil pratiquement infaillible pour réduire l'hétérogénéité spatiale et en particulier pour servir de pilier à la croissance des pays en voie de développement. Toutefois, l'observation de la distribution des réseaux de télécommunication en Inde montre qu'il reproduit les disparités de la distribution des richesses et d'autres infrastructures (réseau électrique...). Afin de comprendre le phénomène et de déterminer quelles sont les dynamiques effectivement à l'œuvre il convient d'étudier l'insertion des moyens de communication dans le cadre d'une activité fortement marquée par l'incarnation matérielle de ces produits. L'étude de l'utilisation de différents moyens de communication par les entrepreneurs de la filière de la soie à Bangalore (Karnataka, Inde) permet de déterminer que la taille et l'orientation commerciale des entreprises sont des facteurs déterminants de l'intensité de l'usage des moyens de télécommunication et du nombre de moyens adoptés. Les moyens de communication traditionnels, la rencontre en particulier restent, malgré tout, très pratiqués. In the international and national institutions policies information and communication technologies are introduced as an infallible tool to reduce spatial heterogeneity and more to be the base of the growth of the developing countries. However, the study of the telecommunication networks in india stress that it reproduces the wealth and other infrastructure distribution disparities. With the aim to understand the fact and to determine what really are the dynamics the use of means of communication have to be studied in the context of an activity which products are strongly material. The study of the use of different means of communication by businessmen of the silk trade network in bangalore (karnataka, india) shows that the size and the commercial orientation of the firm are determinant to explain the intensity of the use of means of telecommunication and of the number of means in the firm. Traditional means of communication are still very used, particularly face to face meeting. Moreover the diffusion of the internet as a tool to do electronic commerce is motivated by the aim conquer the international market but the real use of web sites do not cause very much enthusiasm

Literature methods for the synthesis of benzyl 6-oxo-penicillanate have been studied, it was apparent that some of these reports contained conflicting information with regards to reaction conditions and yields. The same methodology was also used to synthesise the cephalosporin analogue t.butyl7-oxocephalosporanate. The reactions of these compounds with various trimethylsilyl amides and with the Wittig reagent 5'triphenylphosphoranylidenecyclohexanespiro-2'-(1',3'dioxolan)-4'-one have been investigated. The potential for attaching penicillin and cephalosporin nuclei to polymer supports, and thereby utilising the well developed methodology of solid phase peptide synthesis in the field of the discovery of novel β-lactam compounds, has been investigated. Difficulties were encountered when attempting to remove the β-lactams from the resin, however both penicillin and cephalosporin compounds were recovered, in low yield, having had the 6β-(7β-) amino protecting group changed whilst attached to the resin.

La sogdiane se distingue a partir du ive s. Par l'emergence d'une mosaique de petites principautes autonomes et de cites-etats qui integrent aisement les tribus nomades turques et hephthalites qui s'y sedentarisent. La diversite des formes de bouddhisme - hiayana, mahayana et tantrisme- y est le reflet de ce systeme feodal ou les pratiques religieuses s'adaptent aux circonstances locales, creant des fondations de type varie : fondations de monasteres de type gandharien (adzina-tepe, vii-viiie s. ; ustur mullo, iv-vie s. ), de monasteres citadins (dal'verzine tepe, ive s. ; kalai kafirnigan, v-viie s. ), de sanctuaires citadins (kafyr kala, viie; temple ii de pendzikent, vf s. ; kuva, viie s. ), fondations de type chinois (temple i d'ak besim, viie s. ; krasnaja recka, viie s. ; kljucevskij, non fouille) et chapelles privees (kuev kurga, ve s. ; pendzikent, vi-viie s. ). Les trouvailles consistent en fragments de decor architectural de terre sculptee et peinte et en objets de culte de fabrication locale ou d'importation. Les representations du buddha sont conformes au prototype gandharien. Les jataka ne semblent pas illustres au profit des representations des mille buddha (adzina tepe et kafyr kala) introduites par la secte mahasamghika des lokottaravadin qui renient l'existence historique du buddha et multiplient l'image du buddha transcendant +supramondain;. Le buddha est represente entoure de nombreuses divinites et de personnages : indra et brahma, bodhisattva, devata et donateurs moines ou laics. Les +assauts de mara; sculptes sont un theme favori a adzina tepe et a kuva ; a kuva sont egalement representees des divinites terrifiantes au corps bleu d'un bouddhisme evolue de type tantrique. Les petits objets de culte de production locale sont pour la plupart de terre : t'sa t'sa, reliquaires en ceramique, petites plaques de terre cuite ; on trouve egalement des plaques de bronze ajoure. Les objets d'importation de provenance gandharienne, kasmirienne et chinoise (reliefs, statuettes et stele) montrent les rapports etroits qui liaient la sogdiane a ces contrees. La parente iconographique constatee tout au long du travail avec les sites afghans de hadda trouve toute son expression dans le temple ii de pendzikent qui fut un temple bouddhique au vie s. , avant que d'etre transforme au viie s. The specificity of sogdiana is apparent as of the 4th c. Through the emergence of a mosaic of small autonomous principalities and city-states which easily integrate nomadic turkish and hephthalite tribes which settled there. The variety of forms of buddhism -hinayana, mahayana and tantrism- is a reflection of this feudal system in which religious practices are adapted to local circumstances creating different types of foundations : foundations of gandharan type monasteries (adzina tepe, 7th-8th c. ; ustur mullo, 4th-6th c. ), city monasteries (dal'verzine tepe, 4th c. ; kalai kafirnigan, 5th-7th c. ), city sanctuaries (kafyr kala, 7th c. ; temple ii of pendzikent, 5th c. ; kuva, 7th c. ), chinese type foundations (temple i of ak besim, 7th c. ; krasnaja recka, 7th c. ; klucevskij, unexcavated) and private chapels (kuev kurgan, 5th c. ; pendzikent, 5th-7th c. ). The materiel consists of sculpted and painted clay architectural decor in fragmentary condition and of locally produced or imported objects of worship. The representations of buddha correspond to the gandharan prototype. The jatakas do not seem to be illustrated whereas there are representations of the thousand buddhas (adzina tepe and kafyr kala) introduced by the mahasamghika sect of the lokottaravadin who deny the historic existence of buddha and emphasize the image of transcendent "otherworldly" buddha. Buddha is depicted surrounded by numerous gods and devotees : indra and brahma, bodhisattvas, devatas and donor monks or lay persons. Sculpted "attack of mara" is a favorite theme in adzina tepe and kuva ; in kuva are also depicted terrifying blue divinities typical of tantric buddhism. Small locally produced objects of worship are primarily of clay : t'sa t'sa, there are also pottery reliquaries, small terra-cottas and bronze plates with openwork designs. Objects imported from gandhara, kasmir and china (relieves, statuettes and stele) show the close ties which existed between sogdiana and these regions. Poly(para-hydroxybenzoic acid) [pHBA] was discovered in the late 1950s and found to have chemical and mechanical properties which make it attractive for use as a high-performance polymer, potentially in engineering applications. However, the same properties make it difficult to fabricate into films or fibres. This thesis examines the philosophy of the precursor approach to intractable polymers as applied to the synthesis of aromatic polyesters generally and to pHBA specifically, by means of a review on the production of benzene derivatives by ring synthesis, and the polymerisation of 1,4-benzoquinone methides. Work undertaken includes the synthesis and characterisation of a precursor to 7,7-dichloro-1,4-benzoquinone methide, endo-cis-6-dichloromethylenetricyclo[6.2.1.0(^2,7)]undeca-4,9-dien-3-one, and the assignments of the (^1)H and (^13)C NMR spectra of endo-cis-6,6-dimethoxytricyclo- [6.2.1.0(^2,7)]undeca-4,9-dien-3-one (a correction to the published assignment) and its intramolecular 2+2 photocycloaddition product, 8,8-dimethoxypentacyclo- [8.1.0(^1,5).0(^2,9).0(^4,7).0(^6,10)]undecan-3-one.

This study employs data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach to evaluate the performance of agricultural aircraft routes. In the context of agricultural aircraft usage, not enough attention has been paid to the efficiency study of the routes in agricultural operations. Aircraft are used in agriculture to perform various treatments on agricultural land. Presumptions in this study are that a land is divided into parcels and one type of treatment must be performed on these parcels. Also, the considered operation is performed by the agricultural aircraft and the size of the analyzed land implies that all parcels cannot be treated in one route, so there are multiple routes which have to be completed. Here, we propose application of output oriented CCR DEA model on one set of routes in order to determine relatively efficient routes. Proposed inputs for the application of the DEA method are: tank capacity of an aircraft and total cost of parcel treatment in one route. Proposed outputs are: total treated land area (total area of all parcels in route) in one route and percentage share of effective flight in the total distance traveled in one route. In this way relatively efficient routes can be selected, and some further analysis of relatively inefficient routes can be made in order to see what changes can be done in inputs and / or outputs of these inefficient routes to improve their performance.

General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is a standard data format generated by transportation agencies of most of the cities worldwide to provide scheduled data of their services. Despite being the standard in the public transportation field, applications that consume GTFS data may face two problems: outdated versions, since some transportation agencies do not provide GTFS in the same frequency that transit changes; and discrepancy with positioning data sent by the buses. This paper provides a conformity analysis of GTFS routes and bus positioning data from multiple cities. We have found inconsistencies related to GPS route labels and GTFS routes. We also classify the conformity of bus trajectories and enumerate the main inconsistencies found in data analysis.

The METEOR (Model to Evaluate Transportation Effects of Risk) project at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) successfully addresses the difficult problem in risk assessment analyses of combining the results from bounding deterministic simulation results with probabilistic (Monte Carlo) risk assessment techniques. This paper describes a software suite designed to perform sensitivity and cost/benefit analyses on selected transportation routes and vehicles to minimize risk associated with the shipment of hazardous materials. METEOR uses Monte Carlo techniques to estimate the probability of an accidental release of a hazardous substance along a proposed transportation route. A METEOR user selects the mode of transportation, origin and destination points, and charts the route using interactive graphics. Inputs to METEOR (many selections built in) include crash rates for the specific aircraft, soil/rock type and population densities over the proposed route, and bounding limits for potential accident types (velocity, temperature, etc.). New vehicle, materials, and location data are added when available. If the risk estimates are unacceptable, the risks associated with alternate transportation modes or routes can be quickly evaluated and compared. Systematic optimizing methods will provide the user with the route and vehicle selection identified with the lowest risk of hazardous material release. The effects of a selected range of potential accidents such as vehicle impact, fire, fuel explosions, excessive containment pressure, flooding, etc. are evaluated primarily using hydrocodes capable of accurately simulating the material response of critical containment components. Bounding conditions that represent credible accidents (i.e., for an impact event, velocity, orientations, and soil conditions) are used as input parameters to the hydrocode models yielding correlation functions relating accident parameters to component damage. The Monte Carlo algorithms use random number generators to make selections at the various decision points such as crash, location, etc. For each pass through the routines, when a crash is randomly selected, crash parameters are then used to determine if failure has occurred using either external look up tables, correlations functions from deterministic calculations, or built in data libraries. The effectiveness of the software was recently demonstrated in safety analyses of the transportation of radioisotope systems for the US Dept. of Energy. These methods are readily adaptable to estimating risks associated with a variety of hazardous shipments such as spent nuclear fuel, explosives, and chemicals.

In this tool, randomly generated candidate routes are evaluated in terms of several criteria, incorporated in an objective (or fitness) function to take into account the relevant aspects that should be considered in the design of a route. Previous works described the initial steps taken towards the development of such tool, including the geometrical representation of a route, and some of the terms of the objective function associated with a preliminary, global step of the optimization process (such as total pipeline length, and geographical-topographical issues associated with the route geometry and to the seabed bathymetry and obstacles). Special attention was dedicated to the implementation of On-Bottom Stability (OBS) criteria such as the proposed in the DNV-RP-F109 code. This work is focused on another aspect related to the structural behavior of the pipe under hydrostatic and environmental loadings; more specifically, fatigue induced by vortex induced vibrations (VIV) on free spans along the candidate routes. Special attention is dedicated to the implementation of the screening criteria proposed in the DNV-RP-F105 code. Case studies are presented to assess the influence of the VIV criteria on the results of the optimization tool.

Nowadays, time saving in piping stress analysis is a major concern among consultant engineering companies in power and process plants. In this paper, we are going to have a quantity review between some important parameters such as sustained, occasional and expanding stresses with total length and nozzle load of a real case according to ASME B31.3. Most of the times, piping stress designers try different and more flexible piping routes completely arbitrary. Longer piping route means greater mass, and it means a big trouble in earthquake time especially for allowable nozzle loading, on the other hand shorter piping route increases thermal nozzle loading and operating stresses. We will try to find a relationship among mentioned parameters to have an optimal piping route in order to save time and material. Finally, different routes will be analyzed using Caesar II to plot related parameters and find optimum criterion.

This paper presents an analysis of the existing local public transport in the City of Velika Gorica and a few solutions to optimize the existing local public transport. In this paper, the management of passenger transport was analysed from a theoretical point of view, with data on transport demand between Zagreb and Velika Gorica being used. Transport demand analysis is shown by graphs, tables, and route data. In the proposed solution, smaller buses on some routes were introduced, timetables were changed, and Route 330 was cancelled.

Much of Azerbaijan’s Absheron Peninsula is contaminated by natural U-series and Th-series radionuclides, released in the production of oil and gas and, to a lesser extent, by anthropogenic radionuclides, including Sr-90 and Cs-137, from local industrial activities and trans-border transport. The region contains a large number of pipelines and artificial lagoons that have been used to retain excess groundwater and oil residues. In spite of the long history of the oil and gas industry, radioecological investigations have not been carried out until recently. The purpose of this project is to determine the extent of radionuclide contamination in the Absheron Peninsula using a combination of radiation field measurements and laboratory analyses of selected samples, focusing on ten routes in the vicinity of Baku. The routes were selected as most likely to have become contaminated over time. Soil samples, taken from surface and to a depth of 1 m, aqueous samples from surface waters and marshes, and aqueous and sediment lagoons that showed elevated dosimetry readings, were prepared for gamma spectrometric analysis. Control samples were taken from non-contaminated areas. Samples of air and surface waters were analyzed for Rn-220 and Rn-222. The data will then be used to assess the potential impact of the contamination on the local population. A total slightly 4000 dosimetric readings were taken during the course of this investigation. Of these, 1366 (34%) exceeded 5.4 μR/h. This level is two standard deviations above the mean of the least contaminated route, the 79-km Baku-Guba route. Along the routes Baku-Shemakha and Baku-Guba where no oil and gas activity had taken place, radiation levels of 5.1 ± 1.5 and 4.2 ± 0.6 μR/h, respectively, were obtained. The readings for the route Baku-Guba were then used as representing negligible contamination to which the readings of the other sites were compared. In contrast, along the routes Baku-Lokbatan and Baku-Surakhani, that have seen oil- and gas-related activity, radiation levels were sometimes two or three orders of magnitude higher. The most highly contaminated sites were those of two abandoned iodine recovery facilities along the route Baku-Surakhani, the Ramani and Surakhani sites where readings up to 1450 μR/h were obtained. The contamination is due mainly to uranium and thorium in the formation water associated with the oil and gas. Radon measurements did not exceed 20 Bq/m3.

Recycling of CO2 by homogeneous and/or heterogeneous catalytic approaches have been investigated with increasing emphasis within the scientific community. In the last decades, especially using organic and bioorganic systems towards CO2 reduction has attracted great interest. Chemical, electrochemical, photoelectrochemical, and bioelectrochemical approaches are discussed vividly as new routes towards the conversion of CO2 into synthetic fuels and/or useful chemicals in the recent literature. Here we want to especially emphasize the new developments in bio-electrocatalysis with some recent examples.
