Previous studies rarely explored either the non-linear effect of time or the mechanism of purpose and reference as contextual factors that affect individual well-being. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between digital media usage and the levels of subjective well-being by using data from the China Family Panel Studies. The multiple linear regression model was applied to this research. The results showed screen time within 18 hours per week had a positive impact on subjective well-being for the sample (n = 8,531). Any screen time over 18 hours per week had a negative impact.

Activities and Subjective Well-Being (SWB) have been shown to be intricately related to each other. However, no research to date has shown whether individuals understand how their everyday activities relate to their SWB. Furthermore, the assessment of activities has been limited to predefined types of activities and/or closed-ended questions. In two studies, we examine the relationship between self-reported everyday activities and SWB, while allowing individuals to express their activities freely by allowing open-ended responses that were then analyzed with state-of-the-art (transformers-based

While a traditional marketer aims to enhance customer loyalty, a social marketer focuses on the creation of individual well-being. To date, some social marketing programs have been launched to enhance individual well-being. However, only a few studies have been oriented to investigate subjective well-being, in the domain of traditional marketing. Previous studies have indicated that service quality is an important determinant of subjective well-being for a service organization’s customers. This paper examines the evolution of individual subjective well-being (SWB) in Spain from 2013 to 2022, with special focus on its relationship with income. Of the many driving forces of SWB identified in the literature, income is one of the most controversial. We use a large sample of individuals to analyze how income and SWB interacted during the post-2008 crisis period. As expected, our findings show that income is positively related to SWB, but at a decreasing rate. The time interaction with income reveals that the effect of income has also diminished over time.
